A weight loss thread with no boring diet info

Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

Mrs I think I must be making progress as I don't mind mentions of food.

I'm going to try to switch my workouts to earlier in the day. It's a bit risky because in the past I have found the earlier I workout, the more likely
I am to overeat but I think I have hit an eating balance now. Famous last words.

Did not like the film yesterday at all.

Watched Mothman Prophecies tonight - an old favourite.

Another pound gone.

Feel like it will accelerate soon.

But on the other hand...I have woken up feeling exhausted and flat. I think the tough workouts might have been a bit too much the last couple of days. Or maybe it's random, I don't know.

Hope everyone is okay and not battling terrible weather.

Morning, how are we all today?

I think i'm climbing out of the well (iykwim). I had a bad 48 hour food and alcohol binge, but seem to have that back under control now.

I'm back onto my jars, today I got dance and listen. Really not in the mood for either, but thats how I am about everything these days. For exercise I got cycle, so i'll get on the indoor bike for 30 mins and listen to the new Foo Fighters. Any suggestions for what to dance to?

AcornAutumn · 08/02/2021 10:40

Jest glad you are feeling better.

What kind of music would you normally want to dance to?

I'm just going to leave this here as it always cheers me up (SELLING PETROL)

Swan Lake Grin

GwendolineWindowlene · 08/02/2021 10:40

Well done for your pound Acorn, it sounds like you're doing brilliantly with the workouts.

AcornAutumn · 08/02/2021 10:49

@GwendolineWindowlene

Swan Lake Grin
I listen to that music a lot.

My favourite ballet music is Sleeping Beauty. Saw this twice at Sadlers Wells.

I never bothered with Bourne's Swan Lake though, didn't appeal at all.

Thanks Acron and Gwen, I will do both! Sort of. I cant dance at all, so i'll just mess about and pretend for a bit (with the curtains closed!).

Oh I can't dance in any proper way either. Do you dance at parties etc?
OP posts:
lucynda · 08/02/2021 11:12

@AcornAutumn I know that I'm a bit late to the party, but can I join.

I need to lose 3ish stone. I've joined diet threads in the past but completely lose interest the minute posters start listing what they have eaten. I'm sure that it's helpful to many, but I just hate it. 🤣

GwendolineWindowlene · 08/02/2021 11:15

You're marvellous, InJest, I hope you go for the tutu and everything.

Hello lucynda, nice to meet you!

Welcome along!

Yes, I find the listing of food and weight so dull. There's much nicer things to talk about!

OP posts:
InJest · 08/02/2021 14:27

@AcornAutumn Do you dance at parties etc? Honestly, no, i'm horrendously self consious about everything and I look and feel sooooooo uncomfortable trying. I have to be forced onto the dance floor.

But, i'm making myself do things because life is just too small with all my internal limitations, and now an external pandemic. So I will just try and give it a go now so I can have a more full life when this is over.

InJest · 08/02/2021 14:29

Gosh that was a bit deep. I only mean I wont be going back to living life on the sidelines.

AcornAutumn · 08/02/2021 15:22

Jest It's okay to be deep 😂

I hope we can help in your endeavours!

After posting that I felt exhausted and flat on waking up, I feel much better. When I log off work, I will do some more cleaning and clearing, it's boring but it really needs to be done.

Glad you are feeling brighter Acorn.

MrsBobDylan · 08/02/2021 20:14

Apologies for my insensitive excitement over dinner/pudding Blush

@AcornAutumn you are doing brilliantly, loosing a pound is fab.

@InJest I like to dance in my kitchen to inappropriate Hip Hop. my favorites are the Beastie Boys and Run DMC. Ds13 told me off today because apparently I'll damage my hearing.

Welcome @lucynda - I am rubbish at dieting and much prefer this thread because we just keep each other company rather than in-depth diet analysis. I have a dh who is driving me bananas with his successful healthy eating and exercising. I am being very petulant and have told him that as a slim, super fit person who is also younger than me, he has some bloody nerve to gate crash my diet, such as it is Grin

AcornAutumn · 08/02/2021 23:40

Mrs Run DMC had one of my favourite lyrics "won't you tell me last time that love bought you clothes". My parents disapproved of it 😂

But the only other song I know is Walk this Way.

I am really fidgety after no exercise. Perhaps I've made myself into a daily exerciser after all. Not bad after five weeks.

Tomorrow is a mad busy day work wise, so have to decide if doing it before or after.

I just watched the 2015 version of Lady Chatterley's Lover. It was quite good but I haven't read the book. (spoiler...look away if need be). I'm leaving a gap.....

I did wonder what on earth they would live on. Which brings me back round to "won't you tell me last time that love bought you clothes"!

Morning, slender sylphs everywhere!

Beautiful weather here (albeit freezing) so I was out early doors for a walk. Like you Acorn, I think I've got into the daily exercise habit.

Had a moment with some confectionary last night, but overall I'm doing OK, I think. Just trying to avoid out of control eating of sweet stuff, plus I'm still off the Diet Coke (nearly a month). I think more rigid control might be needed down the line, but at the moment, little by little.

My positive thing for today will be to fill up the bird feeders and finish my list of plants to buy for when the weather is a little warmer. I love gardening.

AcornAutumn · 09/02/2021 11:58

Gwen, you have sun? How lucky!

I have no garden....I love hearing about gardens though.

OP posts:
GwendolineWindowlene · 09/02/2021 13:09

My garden isn’t very big, and it’s not an easy shape to work with (shallow and wide). I created it from scratch when we moved in and I’m still, 6 years later, buying more plants and moving round what we have. I really underestimated how much it costs to plant a plot from nothing. Blush

Much as I dream of having a house and garden, in the end, I wonder if I will actually do it. Even a casual informal garden like the one I'd want would be expensive.

Stupid question, when your spring bulbs are done, will you take them out and store them and then put in the summer plants?

OP posts:
GwendolineWindowlene · 09/02/2021 14:45

I have very few spring bulbs, I have some that will flower in the next couple of weeks and they are planted where there are flowers that disappear at this time of year eg hostas.

AcornAutumn · 09/02/2021 18:43

Gwen, my mum was the same and I persuaded her to let me plant a shedload of spring bulbs in her garden - but I am not sure what my next steps are when I want to plant the summer ones 😂

Did another hard workout after work. Going to relax and watch Seven (!) now.

How is everyone today?

I have some really boring life admin stuff that I said I would be doing tonight

Now I'm feeling like ugh, I have been doing boring work all day, shall I leave the boring life admin and find another film to watch...or start Queen's Gambit...or even just be on MN chatting!
