I found out about this book and audio this week from another thread and poster (thanks @ppeatfruit) and am finding it useful.

I found an old support thread from years ago but I dont think its still active.

Does anyone who is interested in this want to chat and support?
Or anyone who has used it in the past with good results want to give hints and tips?

I have tried every diet going and have had real issues with yoyo dieting but my big aim this year has been to make food not such a battle.

I feel this might just be the way forward for me. But I'm aware I'm in very early days.

@Breathmiller love everything you wrote. It resonates with me. I’ve definitely been much more mindful around food since using the app this week. Been naughty too but happy that I’m back on the app and being mindful most of the time.

It feels like something that can be a lifelong habit rather than a diet. If you have a bad day (I did yesterday and guessing next few days likely!) you can pick up and move on the next day. No banned foods mean it’s just a bad day. Not falling off.

Have a lovely Christmas everyone. Here’s to mindful eating and slimmer bodies in 2021 xxx

Love51 · 24/12/2020 14:35

Is anyone else feeling cold by not overeating, or is that just me?

Breathmiller · 26/12/2020 10:55

love51 I have felt cold in the past due to eating less on controlled diets but not this time.
I do always feel cold though which i think is an age/menopause thing. I layer up and sit with a blanket on at night. (And I am in a continual silent battle of the thermostat with my dhGrin)

Hope you all had a great Christmas yesterday. It was a day of letting it all go for me. Did I overeat? Yes. But not to the extent I would normally. I certainly didn't feel painfully full. Or at least I stopped when I did start to feel that.

How's everyone doing? I've just eaten a chocolate coin. This is revolutionary for me as under normal circumstances this would trigger a binge.

Love51 · 27/12/2020 16:01

@Breathmiller glad that it is taking effect. I hope you enjoyed your responsible festive excess!

MrsPerfect12 · 27/12/2020 17:42

Ooh this is an interesting thread. I'm going to have a look for the book an app. I am definitely an emotional eater and have gained a stone this year I'd like to shift.
@Breathmiller can you link me the thread for the Drinking please. Thank you

Breathmiller · 28/12/2020 09:41

Welcome mrsperfect12
How is everyone?

I have fallen off the wagon (food wagon - still no booze) the last few days but I'm kind of okay with that as it has been Christmas.

I have just downloaded the app to get back on track. I quite like the idea of having small check ins throughout the day. It feels like I am being led by the hand a bit which I need.

I have been listening to Paul McKennas positive podcast interviews on Spotify the last few days and I realised it helped me to 'trust' him and what he says. There's part of me that feels like if i just listen to what he says this will work and that feels quite freeing.

I will try to figure out how to link the stopping drinking thread - hold on. Grin

Ooh, i think that has worked. It's a new shiny thread but it's really worth reading back the old ones too. It has been a lifeline for me and everyone is so lovely and supportive and its what inspired me to start this thread. I am nearly at 5 months alcohol free and it has been so much easier this time than the many times I have stopped before because of the support.

Hello everyone could i join too please?
I got the book and the journal in october and did about a week (maybe a little more) then we had to move out for nearly two weeks as had the bathroom done and just fell right off the wagon.

But i found even that week or so that my mental attitude changed, i felt more positive put myself down less and felt more in control.

My main issues are binging, emotional eating, and premenstral/menstral eating. And i found it was starting to help.

I have about 7st to loose so its going to be hard. I did get myself a stepper with resistance bands yesterday (i have an excerise bike but dont really use it) im hoping it will help me stay inspired.

Breathmiller · 28/12/2020 11:17

Welcome holdingforgeneralhugs

This is great... I felt more positive put myself down less and felt more in control

That's how I feel too. Good luck with the stepper

Thank you Breathmiller 😊 i will let you know how i get on (once its out of the box)

Duckdown · 29/12/2020 01:41

@HoldingForGeneralHugs I use resistance bands and I find them great. Good luck!

Breathmiller · 29/12/2020 09:32

I'm on day 2 of the app. I quite like having something to keep me motivated. Although in truth I'm not doing it all very well at the moment. I think partly its the tine of year. No routine and lots of treat food still in. I did get up earlier today so feelinga little more motivated. I will keep listening and doing the audio and hopefully it will sink in somehow.

I think I will go back to the audio from thr book though as I liked it when it was in stereo. The app one is just one voice.

How is everyone getting in?

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 29/12/2020 10:22

Ooo thats good to know @Duckdown. I just wanted to do as many bits as possible 😂

I think this time of year is hard, but once we are into January i think it will help.

I didnt so it last night i was doing a puzzle i got for Christmas 😂 however i didnt think about snacking so ill take it as a bonus!

The stepper will come out of the box today!!

Breathmiller · 29/12/2020 10:54

Woohoo!! The stepper is out the box!

Thanks for the link, I'll have a look at that too.
I downloaded the app and done my morning check in and first secret session. I look forward to tonight and see how I feel tomorrow.

Breathmiller · 29/12/2020 14:07

I just hit the panic button on the app, not because I am needing it particularly right now but because i was nosey. The 3 minute one is so useful.

As part of the alcohol free thread we often talk about our witching hour where we find it hardest to not succumb to drinking. Its usually around habits we have gotten into. And share ideas on what we can do to stop these habits.
I thought it might be useful to talk about on here?

My witching hour is later on in the day. In fact if I am busy I can quite easily go all day without much but I'm trying to stop that so that I don't go into feast or famine.
But my real witching hour is evening sitting in front of the telly. And my biggest downfall to binge on is crisps.

I sometimes have a bath if its comfort eating or if it's habit and boredom I go up to my room. I am much more likely to snack and/or binge when I am downstairs in the living room in front of the telly.
I suppose I would like still to be able to sit in front of a film in the evening when the youngest goes to bed without reaching for food when I'm really not hungry.

I feel on the ball so far today. I haven't been massively hungry but realised I have been thirsty. So I have been drinking fizzy water.
It also helps that I am in organising and clearing up from Christmas mode. Up early doing yoga, fridge cleared out, list made for meals for the next few days (including Hogmany) and the tree down.

I feel much more motivated than the last few sloth like days.

I’m tempted to download the app and give it a go but I’m a bit of a cynic! Does it actually work long term?

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 29/12/2020 17:04

I have an ancient CD of this Grin

Can anyone tell me if the app gives you a choice whether you’re told to wake up at the end? It used to drive me crazy telling me to wake up if I had listened at bedtime as then I couldn’t get back to sleep!

Thanks

Love51 · 29/12/2020 20:54

@Welshgal85 not a clue. All I know is that today is the 29th December and I had my first bit of Xmas chocolate. DH got me a galaxy selection box (my dad used to nick mine). I ate 4 of the 6 pieces of one of the bars and put the rest back. I have never done this before in my life. I didn't feel ill, sick, deprived. I just decided 4 rectangles in that I had had enough, and put the rest back.

I don't have the app. Are the hypnosises shorter than the 25 minutes I'm listening to every day from the book? I downloaded the book (kindle) and it gave me a code. It is just one audio recording. I think I usually nod off but once I'm back at work, 25 minutes is a big commitment.
Good idea @Breathmiller. When I'm at work I cannonball biscuits like they're illegal and the police are on their way. Not had a biscuit since I started with the hypnosis. Have had Christmas cake though!

I don't usually manage to leave food on my plate. It feels really ill mannered to put food on my plate if I'm not going to eat it. I tell my kids off for it (different if I've dished it up for them, but it is selfish to take food you don't intend to eat). Still, 2/3 of a galaxy is sort of the same!

Love51 · 29/12/2020 20:58

@MrsPerfect12 what is a secret session?

boatgirl81 · 30/12/2020 11:58

Lots of encouragement on this thread, I bought the book over the summer and had never bothered to listen! So I dug it out yesterday, read the book and listened to the cd once just after lunch and again at bed. I weighed myself before I started and do feel fairly positive and upbeat today. Do you listen to it every night for the first 21 days?

Love51 · 30/12/2020 13:02

I thought it was every day for 2 weeks but it doesn't say how much after.

MrsPerfect12 · 30/12/2020 15:29

@Love51 it was on the app but I can't find it now. It was before day one started and it won't let me go back and it isn't listed in the all sessions which is strange!
