I found out about this book and audio this week from another thread and poster (thanks @ppeatfruit) and am finding it useful.

I found an old support thread from years ago but I dont think its still active.

Does anyone who is interested in this want to chat and support?
Or anyone who has used it in the past with good results want to give hints and tips?

I have tried every diet going and have had real issues with yoyo dieting but my big aim this year has been to make food not such a battle.

I feel this might just be the way forward for me. But I'm aware I'm in very early days.

Liking it all so far really like the visualising yourself thin. I need to work on stopping when I am full rather than having extra as it is so tasty. Will need to work on pirtionsize and not clearing my plate. I'm tying this way of eating with trying to be kind and nourish myself and my body. So I am trying to fill my body with nutritious food and I am doing daily yoga and 10k steps as it makes me feel good. Losing my weight is going to take time and I hope this nourish, care for my body approach helps x

ppeatfruit · 26/03/2021 09:03

Exactly pontius I don't call it 'dieting' it's a lifestyle.

Like Coco says looking after yourself is important. As I said upthread saving the remainder of a delicious meal in the fridge and reminding myself it's going to be there for tomorrow (out loud seems to work better!). It's more difficult when I'm tired Grin , then I have lots of hot drinks.

pontiouspilates · 26/03/2021 13:18

Coco I'm doing the same..I really want my weight loss to be the happy bonus of a kinder, more considered attitude to myself, so more of the exercise I love rather than the stuff I feel I should be doing and more of the food that makes me feel good.

Hi, am new to this thread. I've spent the week eating crap. My clothes feel tight, my skin is terrible, I look super old (and scarily like my mother) and summer is coming. I don't want to spend another year feeling uncomfortable and tbh ashamed... So am thinking of doing the PMK thing. I think I borrowed the book from someone a long time ago, but can't find it now, so was wondering if the app is sufficient? Or is it best to have the book too?

ppeatfruit · 27/03/2021 08:23

Hi Welcome Grin Name128 You're on the right thread Grin I have the books,CDs etc. but the app sounds good. Someone else will tell you.

pontiouspilates · 27/03/2021 08:48

Hi Name128 I am using the App, but have previously read the book. The book definitely goes into more detail. Personally, I think the App is a good back up to the book, so if you have to choose, I'd go book. It's on Kindle with a downloadable MP3 if that helps. Good luck and welcome!

Name128535689953 · 27/03/2021 10:17

Thank you both!

I got the app last night and have done the intro stuff this morning. Scoffed 2 bowls of chocolate granola so it’s not working yet Grin

I have totally lost my reading mojo at the moment so if I read anything it needs to be for pleasure IYSWIM... (work is taking up all my headspace, and my family and marriage are a bit neglected too so reading feels waaay down the priority list right now)

But maybe I’ll get it on my kindle anyway then it’s there.

Am very tired after being disturbed between 5am-7am by my little cats. Totally zombie like today. Which does not bode well for good eating. Would love to exercise but cannot get moving today.

Does this PMK help with exercise motivation too?

Konga · 27/03/2021 10:33

I am just using the app. I have done 7 days so now I’m on the consolidation bit, or whatever he calls it. Finding it a bit repetitive, but I guess that’s the brainwashing part of it 😄

Konga · 27/03/2021 10:36

Posted too soon. I am enjoying the eating slowly, though I have always taken a couple of bites before I remember to put my knife and fork down. What I am going to struggle with is leaving food on the plate. It feels extremely wrong to not clear my plate, some serious childhood foundations there!

pontiouspilates · 27/03/2021 15:42

I'm exactly the same konga really have to force myself to not clear my plate..I've always been a fast eater, so slowing down definitely takes some brain work!

Name128535689953 · 27/03/2021 18:40

Ok so having now had dinner, I realize that it’s really hard to chew each mouthful 20 times. Sometimes I struggled to get to 10!

But I was more aware of what I was eating and definitely ate slower. However I did keep going even though I felt full Blush Though I couldn’t manage all my dessert, which is practically unheard of!

I read back on this thread and saw about the “sigh” and that is fascinating - deffo noticed a change in my pace and how I felt after noticing the sigh... But clearly need to break the habit of pushing through and still eating.

Coconut80 · 27/03/2021 18:52

Hello everyone lovely to have so many trying this. I'm using the book and the app. OK so far but must admit I was nearly seduced by noom and all its promises today until my sister told me its crap. I'm trying to reframe it as a change in lifestyle which will benefit me. Hope everyone else is having a good Saturday x

Name128535689953 · 28/03/2021 08:15

Glad you said noom was rubbish as I’d nearly been sucked in too...

I’ve absolutely NO idea what was said during the evening hypnosis last night. Is ok to fall asleep completely?

ppeatfruit · 28/03/2021 09:47

So Name if you're not into reading books the app and or the CDs and or DVDs would be more useful I suppose, but the books are quite lightweight!

Sleeping through it is what you're supposed to do! ( I think). It's called sleep learning, it goes in subconsciously. Strangely I've tried counting backwards from a 100 to get to normal sleep but it doesn't work for me, it does work with P.M.!!

You have to start from somewhere. I remember really chewing an apple for the first time and it was a revelation! Maybe start with something properly chewy ? !!

Name128535689953 · 28/03/2021 12:36

Good tips! Thanks!

Am definitely feeling more aware of what I’m putting in my mouth! I think the full feeling comes pretty quick though, or am I imagining it?

Winecheesesleep · 28/03/2021 13:12

I did Noom last year. I did lose some weight but went on holiday and then struggled to get back on board with it - it's all about daily articles and tasks and felt daunting to catch up with it all.

One of the foundations of it is weighing yourself every day and I don't think that was healthy for me, I haven't weighed myself in a week on Paul Mckenna's advice and it's really nice actually.

ppeatfruit · 29/03/2021 09:02

Name You're NOT imagining it Grin It comes too quick!!! As I said I have to say to myself out loud " I can finish this later" Because to start with you do eat more often (what's the dieteticians' mantra? eat healthily and little and often Grin ).

It's a natural way of eating like children should do, because our relaxed stomachs are actually the size of a grapefuit! Think how small children's stomachs are!

it's a shame that adults are always clock watching and therefore change the way we all eat as children, then we become our parents Sad . That's why I used to give the dcs a plate of nice fruit, prettily cut up when they got home from school (or they can do it themselves when they're responsible enough ) because IMO it's mean to make them wait for meals.

ppeatfruit · 29/03/2021 09:04

Oh yes Wine I haven't weighed in years, it makes soo much more sense. I go by my clothes and the mirror!

UnsolicitedDickPic · 29/03/2021 17:07

@Name128535689953

Good tips! Thanks!

Am definitely feeling more aware of what I’m putting in my mouth! I think the full feeling comes pretty quick though, or am I imagining it?

This, absolutely! I've had a real dip recently (due on period and just went haywire) but that was one thing that really stuck with me - and when I was eating far too much knowing, in a way I've never quite been aware of before, that I was overriding my natural instinct to stop.
Name128535689953 · 29/03/2021 18:57

Today has been a total fail. I’ve scoffed breakfast and lunch at my desk (ie distracted) - in fact I went back for seconds for lunch... and dinner I ate at break neck speed.

Now making a cake. Blueberry and lemon loaf GrinBlush

Winecheesesleep · 29/03/2021 21:47

This is probably a stupid question but what happens when you reach your ideal weight, does your body 'know' and start making you hungry for more food to maintain?

ppeatfruit · 30/03/2021 08:48

Wine No, of course it does respond, if we go back to overeating, the stomach stretches (it has to). But if we just return to it, our friendly body returns to the weight\outline we want!

I think that's why I like this way of eating so much, it becomes a lifestyle, as I've got older though I definitely have to eat more healthily. To remain mentally and physically alert.

Oh I was wondering if anyone wants a few easy peasy excercises for belly muscles?

Name128535689953 · 30/03/2021 13:47

Missed last nights hypno as I was working on a bit work presentation until 1am Confused.

Weighed myself this morning and I’m on the lower end of my usual weight range so was feeling v positive...

Then got overhungry by lunch, had two slices of cake, then lunch, then DH came home with a chocolate bar which I practically inhaled. I am the queen of self-sabotage.

However - for the first time in months I felt super energetic and made time for myself to go for a walk at lunchtime. I usually am not disciplined enough to get up and go out but today I really wanted to and found it therefore easy to make it happen. Sounds random but this is a real difference for me. I usually only get up to make lunch or go to the loo and wistfully look out the window wishing I could be outside but never doing anything about it.

I’m realizing how much I ignore myself. My old therapist would be having a field day right now Grin

pontiouspilates · 30/03/2021 20:50

Yes please ppeat some stomach exercises would be great. I generally quite fit - running, circuits etc but I've definitely got a 'meno belly' on me at the moment.

ppeatfruit · 31/03/2021 09:16

Name That's good news to get out instead of just thinking about it!

ok pontious Lie flat on a solid surface (I use my mattress) . I did this 3 times in the morning and the evening. (i've progressed to sit ups now!)
Arms flat. Counting to 6 or 7 secs. raise your shoulders and head , (t's important to keep your head in line with your spine) Hold for the same count and lower for the same. You can progress to raising your legs up straight on the wall and include your arms.

Also stretch sideways, while showering or whenever, bringing in your arm over your head. And then turn round to see behind you , on both sides, each 3 times.
