Hello & Welcome

Roughly 4 weeks to Christmas ๐ŸŽ„. We all know itโ€™s been a strange unsettling year. Unprecedented. Nonetheless we all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, youโ€™ll be (to a degree) improving your immune system and your ability to fight infection should you get one. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main itโ€™s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and Iโ€™ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In October/November I didnโ€™t really lose but did maintain. Iโ€™m hoping to see a loss this month which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

@SunshineCake at 5 foot five, you'll go into healthy BMI when you get to 150lb which is 10st 10lb or 68.18kg

FatGirlShrinking · 20/12/2020 14:24

And I just found your last weight post and you're pretty much there already only a lb or so to go!

Galvantula · 20/12/2020 14:31

Aw no @CescaNicole. Sad. It has been a quite ridiculous year. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Thanks @FatGirlShrinking. I think we'll do some video calls over the holidays to try and cheer them up a bit as they live alone and my mum is worried.

Oooooo exciting. Last weigh in I was 10 stone 11.6!

The NHS BMI chart said I needed to lose about seven pounds but then it also said my healthy range is 7 stone 10 - ten stone 10Confused.

Day of eating lots today. DHs birthday so we had Taco Bell delivered for lunch, first time trying it, I had 2 crunchy tacos with grilled chicken in. 140 calories each so not too bad. Must admit as nice as it was, they tasted the same as the ones we make at home but Taco Bell put less filling in ๐Ÿคฃ won't be hurrying back.

Other than that, there was sweet popcorn and malteasers with the afternoon movie and a chocolate cupcake with lots of frosting.

And that's just the high calorie stuff ๐Ÿ˜‚ needless to say I've gone over my limit and need to behave myself a bit more tomorrow!

SunshineCake · 20/12/2020 20:05

Free calories on birthdays!!

TheRealHousewife · 21/12/2020 09:42

Good Morning Everyone

The blummin wheels fell off at the weekend. Iโ€™ll spare you the details but it all very delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜ฌ. Back on it today. Menu:- Mushroom soup for lunch, tray bake roast veg & chicken for evening.

@SunshineCake I totally understand that. It was such a scare for you all. Sorry to hear about how it is with your dd. Hopefully sheโ€™ll grow out of it sooner rather than later Flowers. Itโ€™s good to read you had a nicer time with her.

Waves at @Galvantula you working mums are all super heroโ€™s in my eyes! You do a marvellous job and deserve a medal ๐ŸŽ–โญ๏ธโค๏ธ Great results too!

Wow @FatGirlShrinking. Stunning in both photos. ๐Ÿ‘But what a transformation!

@CescaNicole blummin Covid! Your day will come, weโ€™ll all weather this Covid storm to see the rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ once over.

4 days to go ....

Afternoon all. Not really on it here. Trying not to gain but DD canโ€™t now come home for Christmas so cheering myself with mince pies. Great photos @FatGirlShrinking really inspiring

SunshineCake · 21/12/2020 17:34

I'm up today but that is fine. I weigh every running day and forgot I am not meant too. I did a good run thought in terms of distance and speed so still good. I expect I'll see the year out slightly up at 11 something but 26 months ago I was 14 so I'll take it!

Just did last shop of the year. Was very quiet. Got everything except one thing but got a nicer alternative so all good.

I'm sorry your dd can't come home for Christmas @Onthebrink67. Have your time tonight and then tomorrow start again. Do it for you.

A bonfire was had here today @TheRealHousewife ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ˜‰

TheRealHousewife · 21/12/2020 18:03

@SunshineCake ๐Ÿ˜‰ Feel better?

OAN something to cheer us all up ... itโ€™s Winter Solstice tonight and that means the days start getting longer with more daylight from tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜Š.

@Onthebrink67 how disappointing for you all. Covid is a t*!

I do thank you. I feel bad I don't feel bad Confused. I did wonder if we did ever speak would I regret not keeping it but I immediately thought no and we aren't going to speak anyway. I have a couple of photos of her but I've kept them as I'm in them and I only have about a handful of photos of me as a baby. I also have a photo of my dad and find it interesting I have kept that too and wonder now whether to.

Is it more daylight at the start of the day or evening ?[thick]. I'd prefer morning so I could leave earlier to run.

TheRealHousewife · 21/12/2020 19:10

@SunshineCake the days get longer due to the sun rising increasingly earlier and setting increasingly later. Just a minute or so each day. It soon adds up! This occurs until Summer Solstice when days start to shorten again. When British summer time starts (clocks spring forward an hour) it causes the nights to be lighter but for a while the mornings to be darker iyswim. See here

Also tonight sees the celestial rarity of Jupiter and Saturn being super close. In clear skies very very visible. One of the many theories about the Star of Bethlehem is that it has returned; as it was these very two stars โญ๏ธ The Wise Men followed.

Sunrise was 8:45 and sunset 15:35 up here so feeling like hibernating! I'm brilliant during the day at work and after work, but I get to 7pm and want to snack! Was doing so well until the Terry's Chocolate Orange beckoned me from the cupboard Xmas Blush

SunshineCake · 21/12/2020 20:02

I'll have to stick with 7.30 for running then. Where I go isn't lit for half the way so don't want to run in the dark.

FatGirlShrinking · 21/12/2020 22:22

Today has been loooong. DD got me up just before 5am, spent the morning doing crafts and playing then popped into town this afternoon to go see the Xmas displays, buskers and the shopping centre makes it snow every 15 minutes so we did that a couple of times.

Then swimming at 8pm followed by a trawl of Sainsbury's to get the fresh stuff for Xmas day.

Absolutely knackered and tomorrow we're at the farm park trudging through mud. Why do school holidays always involve so much tiring stuff ๐Ÿ˜‚

Xmas pressies are all wrapped and stashed so at least we won't be up late Xmas eve doing that and DD is so very excited she gives us the day and sleep countdown approximately 600 times a day.

SunshineCake · 21/12/2020 22:26

How old is your DD @FatGirlShrinking?

I feel calmer now iv done a big shop and dh is chilled about the bits I forgot.

Call out for @MrsJonesAndMe. How are youuuuuu?

FatGirlShrinking · 21/12/2020 22:29

@SunshineCake she's 6 (and a half, she's very proud of the half).

Yes I feel more relaxed too now we have the meat and trimmings, some things I might still pick up if I get the chance but won't be missed if I don't.

Galvantula · 21/12/2020 23:45

@FatGirlShrinking my 5 and a half year old is also very proud of the half ๐Ÿคฃ

We're expecting a supermarket delivery, wondering what % of the stuff we'll get ๐Ÿค”

It's just going to be us in the house and the kids won't care what's for Christmas dinner really, so I'm not too worried overall.

SunshineCake · 22/12/2020 11:34

The halves are very very important Grin.

I'm worried we'll run out of milk as ds likes to drink it and dh tried to tell him not to and I said he needs to, just not four pints a day. He's so skinny. The earliest we'll go shopping again is Sunday and that will only be if we do need milk.

I've been running for 50 minutes then walked the dog for two hours so I'm quite tired. Planning an easy tea and just pottering about. I have to watch my chest as it easily starts to ache.

I'm logging 4" off my tummy since July and seven in total. Happy bunny.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

FatGirlShrinking · 22/12/2020 11:45

@SunshineCake there will be petrol stations and Tesco local type shops open all throughout. The spar round the corner from us opens on Xmas day, so you should be able to send one of the kids or DH out for a bottle of milk if needed ๐Ÿ˜

Galvantula · 22/12/2020 12:08

Yes milk for the copious cereal the kids eat would be our biggest worry too @SunshineCake - hopefully we'll get it today.

I need to do new measurements too - I can feel quite a difference the last few weeks so should log it in my MFP :D

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/12/2020 12:35

Hi all, thanks for thinking of me @SunshineCake Just been busy. One finished isolating on Sunday, the other is half way through a stint and we're in Tier 4, so Hmm Sad

Sorry about the wedding @CescaNicole that must be so gutting Sad

I will be back at some point! Well done to everyone managing to lose weight/inches/eat healthily at the moment x

SunshineCake · 22/12/2020 14:39

I didn't even think of petrol stations for milk so thank you @FatGirlShrinking and @Galvantula.

Lovely to see you @MrsJonesAndMe. Don't stay away too long. We are tier 4 too. Hope the isolating goes okay. DD finished her ten days on Friday.
