Hello & Welcome

Roughly 4 weeks to Christmas ๐ŸŽ„. We all know itโ€™s been a strange unsettling year. Unprecedented. Nonetheless we all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, youโ€™ll be (to a degree) improving your immune system and your ability to fight infection should you get one. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main itโ€™s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and Iโ€™ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In October/November I didnโ€™t really lose but did maintain. Iโ€™m hoping to see a loss this month which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Weigh in today - 2 lb loss at 10 stone 10 lb. Hopefully can stay this way and finish the month here ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

FatGirlShrinking · 23/12/2020 12:00

Good loss @CescaNicole !

I've taken sproglett swimming this morning with a quick swing through of lido to check out the aisle of weird and then a takeaway Starbucks. DD had a giant cookie and warm milk, I have a gingerbread latte mmmmmmmmmm

Elle200 · 23/12/2020 12:09

No loss is far better than a gain @FatGirlShrinking!

Well done @CescaNicole, it's not easy is it?

I've been bad and had a chunk of Christmas pud with cream last night. I don't know if it was the sugar or the naughtiness, but i was awake till 2am so don't think i'll be eating it again so late at night.

SunshineCake · 23/12/2020 13:11

No talk of being bad @Elle200. That's where the problems start. You had the food, you enjoyed it, let it go.

I weighed yesterday as I wasn't running today. I'm the same more or less as last week.

I think staying the same is still a win @FatGirlShrinking and well done on your win @CescaNicole.

I think my biggest win has been the emotional one where I don't hate myself for eating anymore. I really wanted to run tomorrow and then take Christmas Day off and then miss the weekend as normal but my knees are sore so I will see how I feel in the morning. I don't really want to have five non running days but I need to watch that to and not risk damaging my knees.

FatGirlShrinking · 24/12/2020 08:03

Merry Xmas-eve!

DD was up with the lark and asking to watch Santa on the map, had to explain he wasn't out and about yet, she's now onto breakfast number 2 and we'll be getting dressed and going to the park in about an hour as not sure she can handle being inside much longer than that ๐Ÿ˜‚

I will need to escape for an hour later I think to preserve my sanity and Xmas joy, DD spent the whole of yesterday singing her every thought to Xmas tunes which was cute and funny at first but 8 hours later had lost its shine and she's in fine and excited form today too. I'm a quieter person in general so need a little respite to just be quiet if I want to not go completely doolally.

Elle200 · 24/12/2020 12:13

Your DD sounds great @FatGirlShrinking, I hope you have a lovely Christmas!

SunshineCake · 24/12/2020 13:08

Another night where I woke at least twice and had an early waking for the day. Feeling fed up about how tired I am so would appreciate any tips for sleeping through.

With that being the case I was on my way to the supermarket at 6.30am, then home to run 7.5km before walking the dog.

WOW/T 10 stone 11.2lbs. My goal was to be ten stone by the end of the year but I made it by the end of November. Then weigh in today is my lowest I have been in years, quite possibly for quite a few.

Thank you each and every one of you for holding me up and supporting me through all the angst I have been through, food intolerances, not losing weight, putting it on, struggles emotionally and then lately with the woman who gave birth to me. There has only been one off comment, which typically I do remember, but so many more lovely ones and I thank you all.

Happy Christmas Eve and have a lovely evening.

Tomorrow I am not fasting Grin.

CescaNicole · 24/12/2020 13:12

Merry Christmas !!

I had a couple of mini pastries for breakfast and have had some chocolate while I prepare our lunch. I'm enjoying everything and not worrying about calories. I'm taking the next three days off running to rest my knees then will get back on it on Monday.

I hope you all have a lovely day and that 2021 brings joy, health and happiness.

Galvantula · 25/12/2020 20:52

Happy Christmas all!

It's been a bit rubbish not seeing grandparents properly but the DC have been somewhat spoiled by everyone and are looking v happy.

I'm uncomfortably full here and couldn't even manage dessert... Yet.

Not sure how I managed to overeat so much. Blush

Hope you've all had as good a day as you can. :) ๐ŸŒฒ

SunshineCake · 26/12/2020 19:31

Happy Boxing Day.

Hope everyone is well.

FatGirlShrinking · 27/12/2020 09:21

Hello all, hope you all had a fantastic few days. I did as my scales can attest, managed to gain 5lb in 3 days which seems a bit much! Hoping it's the carb/salt affect and it will just fall off now I'm back to it ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

SunshineCake · 27/12/2020 15:51

I have decided not to weigh myself until after I have run at least once. If I've gained I'll be sad and if I've lost I'll know soon enough. I'm enjoying the break but will try and go tomorrow. My hip was sore this morning along with my back so I'll decide in the morning. I'm also really tired. The storm kept me awake a lot last night and I have been pretty busy today but at least while running I'm getting alone time and aren't doing any chores.

FatGirlShrinking · 28/12/2020 06:49

Well scales are showing 2lb loss since yesterday, I don't think I've actually lost 2lb in one day so this must just be my body trying to figure out what the hell I was doing shoving a load of chocolate and cheese straws into it for 3 days ๐Ÿ˜‚

Will keep to my calorie count and see where I am on Wednesday for weigh in day, hopefully it will settle.

Finished my 100 days of weighing challenge on MFP and lost 24 lb in 100 days. Have joined a new challenge starting today and hoping to match that so that would have me meeting my first big goal of being healthy weight by 6th April.

2021 goals:

Ultimate goal - 141 lb which is the 'ideal' weight for my height
1st big goal - 164 lb which puts me into top end of healthy BMI

Small goals:

size 16 Next jeans fits

38 inch band bra fits (been wearing anything from 42-48 inch band since I was a young teen, have never been able to buy a bra from a supermarket or primark)

177lb = 4 stone lost

170 lb = 4 and a half stone lost

size 14 Next jeans fit

Elle200 · 28/12/2020 07:42

@FatGirlShrinking, your idea of goals for 2021 is worthy of its own thread!!

Mine are to continue with my calorie counting, fit into all the clothes in my wardrobe (almost there with my lovely new jacket I've had for over a year and only now can almost shut the zip!), and hit my goal weight of 75kgs.

Thank you for all your support x

FatGirlShrinking · 28/12/2020 13:09

Very exciting news!

Popped into the Next sale this morning and picked up some jeans in an 18 and 16, 18 were too big and 16 fit perfect. Awful style on me, but they did up, didn't dig in, fit nice around bum and thighs. Happy dance!

Elle200 · 28/12/2020 14:02

Yey @FatGirlShrinking that's your first goal knocked off the list!!

SunshineCake · 28/12/2020 18:45

Well done @FatGirlShrinking ๐Ÿ‘–!

I did run this morning and managed 7.43km. I decided I was mentally strong enough to accept a weight gain so got on the scales prepared for them to say 11 stone 3. On Christmas Eve I was 10 stone 11.2lbs. Today I was 11 stone 0.8lb so I am happy with that. Lunch was spinach with part of a mushroom and sweetcorn pizza which dh made, including the base from scratch and dinner was small piece of salmon, small piece of smoked haddock, new potatoes, carrots, sweetcorn and tender stem broccoli. I also had a tiny Christmas pudding with some brandy sauce. Still feel a bit peckish Confused. I have decided to run three times a week to have a rest day as my knees are really quite painful at times. I'm fine while running but walking around the house, up and down the stairs is incredibly painful and I am worried about the damage I may be doing.

FatGirlShrinking · 28/12/2020 19:15

Thank you @Elle200 tested the size 16 out with a pair of Sainsbury's skinny jeans in leopard print which are now a proud addition to my wardrobe.

Glad you're doing so well @SunshineCake , take care of that knee, make sure you're giving it plenty of rest, ice, compression and elevation if it feels like a muscular injury.
