Hello & Welcome

Roughly 4 weeks to Christmas ๐ŸŽ„. We all know itโ€™s been a strange unsettling year. Unprecedented. Nonetheless we all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, youโ€™ll be (to a degree) improving your immune system and your ability to fight infection should you get one. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main itโ€™s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and Iโ€™ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In October/November I didnโ€™t really lose but did maintain. Iโ€™m hoping to see a loss this month which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

I've no idea what it is, I feels like the bone is the painful bit Confused.

FatGirlShrinking · 28/12/2020 19:34

Just on the off chance. I get a painful knee, it is particularly sore going down stairs and standing up if I've been sat down for a while or with my knee bent under me. Feels kind of like the bone is scraping on other bone. After a while I figured out it's not actually the knee that's the problem it's my thigh, the long muscle on the front of my thigh directly above my knee, if I press firmly along the muscle I can feel where it twinges. It gets knotted and tight which then makes my knee hurt. It helps to do gentle stretching and strengthening exercises focused on thighs rather than knees.

SunshineCake · 28/12/2020 22:23

I think there may be an element of that with me. I'll have to look into stretches. Thank you.

fallfallfall · 28/12/2020 23:48

No clue if Iโ€™m holding steady but Iโ€™m only planning on weighing in Jan 1.
I do hope everyone else is hanging in there.

TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2020 21:07

I really need to rest my knee again tomorrow but I miss running. Had a lovely Christmas. Much better than expected. Only the third one on our own in 25 years and much better than the last one alone as I felt bad the kids didn't see granny and grandad. Looking forward to snow coming. Hurray! Dh not impressed.

Hope everyone is well.

Galvantula · 29/12/2020 23:20

@fallfallfall I've done a few weigh ins and am up a lb or 2.

Considering I've eaten an entire chocolate orange and various other treats I'm ok with that ๐Ÿ˜….

We have been a bit sloth like so could do with moving more though. DC have been obsessively Lego building quite happily, but I could do with more fresh air. :)

Galvantula · 29/12/2020 23:23

Thanks@TheRealHousewife, I will go and check in :)

@SunshineCake glad you had a nice time. :)

fallfallfall · 29/12/2020 23:29

@Galvantula, oh how I wish it was only one orange...cheese is my nemesis.
But Iโ€™ll be okay, and come the first, ready to cut back on the extras...fruit cake, pumpkin pie, more fruit cake, Portuguese cookies. Just little things that I know all add up.
Iโ€™m using ice as a reason to stay indoors but I continue to use the LS videos (3miles daily).

Hi Everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

Hope all having a lovely Christmas break, and looking forward to a New Year!!

I have weighed in this morning at 10 st 9lb,which is 1lb loss since last week and a 5lb loss for December.
Very pleased with that! Calorie Counting is really working for me!!
I'm going to have another day off cc tomorrow for NYE and then straight back on it to smash January!!!

I have joined the Fiit app too - has anyone tried it? I did a low impact workout last night and can barely walk today ๐Ÿคฃ

Otherwise I am finding the world very scary and gloomy. I can't read the news or talk about what's going on because it makes me despair! So focusing on Calorie Counting and staying in my own positive bubble is all I can do at the moment! ๐Ÿค”

Thanks for all your help along the way, I'm so glad I joined this thread in October! and cheers to a new year ๐Ÿฅ‚

Onthebrink67 · 30/12/2020 09:49

Been eating far too much here but not much else to do. Sure Iโ€™ll be up on 1 December but not weighing in until Friday. Hopefully all the cheese will be gone by then ๐Ÿคž

SunshineCake · 30/12/2020 12:20

I walked for two hours with my friend and our dogs this morning and feel really tired now. I will run tomorrow as long as we don't have too much snow. Otherwise I'll have to brave the cold garage and go on the bike. I'm suffering a bit with knee, back and hip pain but don't want to have weight creep back on.

Hope all are okay. You are all doing really well Star.

Puffalicious · 30/12/2020 18:00

Hi all,

Not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow at all- cheese is also my nemesis! Will be back to normal on the 1st. I did feel better getting out sledging today with DH and DS3- was such fun and I'm sure I worked off some cheese!

SunshineCake · 30/12/2020 18:07

Then don't weigh @Puffalicious. You've enjoyed some cheese. Don't let it be spoilt by potential weight gain. If you think it will upset you then don't get on the scales.

Hoping we'll have snow tomorrow though I need to run so it might be a bit scary. โ›„๏ธ โ„๏ธ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Puffalicious · 30/12/2020 20:22

Good advice, Sunshinecake, I'll think about it. It may give me the kick I need, though, to get back on it, though. I'll see how I feel in the morning.

If too scary replace the run with a long stomp in the snow!

SunshineCake · 30/12/2020 20:39

Great idea! I've got the exercise bike as back up.

SunshineCake · 30/12/2020 20:46

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ I think that should have been Grin.

Puffalicious · 30/12/2020 23:32

Snow stomping here you come!

Galvantula · 31/12/2020 12:06

@fallfallfall cheese is also my nemesis. It's been the hardest habit to crack tbh! I'm now a cheese weigher. ๐Ÿ™ˆ But I do still put cheese on stuff when I want to... Just a bit less than I might have before.

SunshineCake · 31/12/2020 12:10

I am sure I clicked woman!

There wasn't any snow when I ran just frost. I didn't slip and ran further than I thought I had so all good.

I finish the year at my second lowest weight in years having lost 1.4lb since Christmas Day. I am very happy as end on a ten stone amount. Run went great. All good.

I feel happy. It's been a long time. Happy emotionally as well as physically.

Hope everyone has a good New Years Eve and here's to a good 2021. Let's face it, can't be much worse!

SunshineCake · 31/12/2020 12:10

That's a positive and win @Galvantula. Still enjoying cheese just not having too much.
