Dancing through December

Octopus37 · 30/11/2020 07:27

Well thought I would start the last thread of the year. Weighed in at 9st2.25 this month, my aim is to end December at a similar weight. I'm not realistically expecting to lose.

Morning well done everyone. Living room is a good call. Haven't got the decorations out of the loft yet.

Allegedly I'm 14:2.8 today which is 1.4lbs down on yesterday. Presume I'll have some bouncing around before I can assess what my real weight is.

Will keep up the water and try to stick to 16:8 over the weekend and avoid takeaway. Back to the gym on Monday

monkeytennis97 · 05/12/2020 06:51

@TheHoneyBadger

Hello all hopping on here. I need to be more accountable recently (damn box of Roses and Heroes!). I've been on a diet since March 16th-

SW 17 stone 9lbs
CW 12 stone 8lbs (got to 6lbs)
TW oh 11 anything would be amazing!

I knew I would struggle in the winter months I've never tried to lose weight at this time of year before... would really like to get to 12 stone 6lbs again before Christmas to have a 2lb buffer for Christmas and then hopefully get to GW by next Summer (Could I even dream of brushing 10 stone somethingSmile)....

Here goes. I need to hide from the Cadburys.

NellietheNumpty · 05/12/2020 06:58

@monkeytennis97.
I have found the tip of upping my water intake helpful. You have made such good progress already. Brilliant.
Do you still have a biscuit filled staff room? I do find that a temptation.

monkeytennis97 · 05/12/2020 07:03

No staffroom. Well, we do but it's in another building (secondary) and it was (pre Covid) used by TAs rather than teachers mostly.

We have an office (with fridge, microwave and kettle) so I don't get temptation at school thank God and being secondary we don't get Christmas food/pressies sent in really.

My downfall is when I get back from work so dark I can't go for a walk really and I just want to eat the whole house. Roll on 21st December so the days start getting longer!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 05/12/2020 07:46

I'm a teacher too. However I've been a sahm for 5 years now. Although I've recently started working at a SEN provision in a 0 hours/bank basis, so doing a little here and there. I love it, I don't think I'll go back to mainstream now.

monkeytennis97 · 05/12/2020 07:50

@HoneysuckIejasmine hi! My DC attends a special school. His staff are all angels. I've often thought about moving to his school, I love it when I go there. Such a happy inspiring place.

TheHoneyBadger · 05/12/2020 08:01

Welcome monkey. Your loss is amazing.

I started at about 15:7 ion April, got down to about 13:12 (or bouncing around it) by September then went back to work and pretty much maintained for 2.5 months then felt rubbish and sorry for myself with gyms closed and ds remote learning and work stress and started going up again through comfort eating and drinking beer (my nemesis).

Now about 14:2 and hopefully back in the game. Like you I'd like to lose a few pounds before Christmas as a buffer then get straight back at it after Christmas.

November was tough.

IDontMindMarmite · 05/12/2020 08:06

Welcome Monkey and congratulations on your very impressive loss to date. How do you go about losing weight? Fasting, calorie counting etc?

monkeytennis97 · 05/12/2020 08:25

@IDontMindMarmite calorie counting and trying to do at least 15,000 steps a day on my days off and weekend (am part time) and also to try and get 10,000 on my days at work.

I really went for it from March-September (on about 1600 cals a day- lost around 10lbs a month) but since September I've lost 15/17lbs and have found since going back to work after half term tough in terms of lots of things (not being able to see DC in his care home for one) so have been comfort eating although not as much as pre weight loss times.

monkeytennis97 · 05/12/2020 08:27

Right, I'm going for a walk🏃‍♀️😊

FestiveFannyGallops · 05/12/2020 09:41

Welcome Monkey and congratulations on your amazing weight loss!

I'm confused. I've weighed myself this morning, just my pants, new batteries in the the scales and I'm 60.6kg!!! How?? This is lower than my lowest that I hit months ago. So how the heck have I reached this when I've only been limiting my intake for the past 4 days? I triple checked the reading too as was trying to get my scale app to sync. That's 9st 7lb I believe.

Octopus37 · 05/12/2020 10:07

Well done Festive, thats amazing, Monkey thats amazing weight loss, you must be so pleased.

9st4.5 here this morning, had a take away curry last night, feel as if I'm loosing control a bit at the moment, I dont know if its the cod weather but my body just seems to want food and to cling on to weight for dear life. Hoping this morning's reading is a wild fluctuation as I haven't been that much since the beginning of March at least. Trying not to panic. Have just eaten a cereal bar for breakfast. My plan today is to drink lots of water. Struggling with lunch ideas cause I'm out on the go all the time at the moment with minimum time. Really wish I liked eggs. Could really do with thinking of eating something with more protein in it on the go that actually fills me up. Things like pies are very tempting at the moment, cause its cold. Any ideas would be welcome. Kind of want to get a few pounds off for Christmas cause otherwise I can see myself back at square one at the beginning of January.

@FestiveFannyGallops awesome! I can only dream!Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 05/12/2020 10:36

Definitely a wild fluctuation octopus. Difficult to know what to suggest for quick and easy protein. What a shame you don't like eggs, those or mackerel would be my go to. Any interest in protein shakes?

Do you like ono? At one time when I was trying to eat lunch and get more protein I'd put some ono with seeds and almonds and added protein powder into little Tupperware pots to have at work. Quite a small portion would fill me up.

Maybe a substantial breakfast and then small portions of Ono for on the go would work?

TheHoneyBadger · 05/12/2020 10:37

Well done festive sorry but who were you? I'm rubbish at keeping up with name changes

Octopus37 · 05/12/2020 10:42

Thanks for the suggestion HoneyBadger, unfortunately I absolutely hate milk, so ONO and shakes wouldn't work. The best I can come up with is those protein bars and maybe mini babybels and nuts

A former Speaker.

We are heading up to my mum's after lunch. Our Christmas trees arrived last night so I'm very excited. We will put them up next weekend I think.

@Octopus37 that's just the curry sat on your system. A good poop or two and you'll be grand. It's not possible to gain fat or muscle weight overnight. It's just food and fluid don't worry.

Monochrome4 · 05/12/2020 12:40

Morning all. Glad to hear most people in good spirits.

FestiveFannyGallops it's common for the number on the scales to go down loads the first week of dieting and then slower after that. Something to do with glycogen stores, apparently. It shows that you're doing the right things but don't expect it to be as fast from now on.

60.6 this morning. So close to my goal of 60! There are still some clothes that are too small so I'll try to get reliably under 60 then see how they look. I think my ultimate goal is my pair of size 12 Topshop Baxter jeans which I used to live in, but haven't been able to wear since 2016.

Octopus37 · 05/12/2020 15:23

Wow Monochrome you're doing well. Thanks Festive, hope you're right about it just being the curry my stomach certainly feels heavy. Just had an antipasta selection from Asda which comes to under 200 calories so quite pleased with that. Think that sort of thing might be the way forward for lunch

monkeytennis97 · 05/12/2020 16:01

Yay 17,000 steps so far today, aiming for 20k

IDontMindMarmite · 05/12/2020 16:47

Easy protein has gotta be yoghurt, no? I know you hate milk but would overnight oats with flavoured yoghurt and a little milk to loosen it up be ok? You wouldn’t taste or notice the milk. Some people have overnight oats with orange juice.

I’m loving my indoor cycling at the moment, it does wonders for my mood. Just got off the bike and into the bath. Take away tonight. Heaven.

Think I’m done with Christmas shopping as well! Days like this I feel like I’ve got my shit together.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 05/12/2020 17:39

monkey it's an FE college and I love it. Every day is different, every learner is different. I'm slowly picking up some makaton whilst I wait for a space on the training course but it's v popular with a long waiting list.

FestiveFannyGallops · 05/12/2020 18:23

12,500 steps so far today. 5.1 miles. We had a chip barm for dinner but I didn't have lunch so I'm still within my allowance for the day with 100 calories to spare.
I've added yogurts to my shopping order for Monday and will get back on the yogurt and muesli breakfasts.

TheHoneyBadger · 06/12/2020 08:15

I don't taste milk in my ono, it's soaked in rather than liquid plus I use skimmed uht. Hmm tricky then. I can only think nuts but they're pretty high in calories so you have to be careful with quantity.

14:4.2 which is up 1.4 from yesterday which was down 1.4 from the day before. See what tomorrow brings.

Managed to stick to 16:8 yesterday and drink plenty of water and have avoided weekend takeaway. I was hungry yesterday though and had wraps when I don't normally eat bread and had cheese and biscuits in the evening. Period is imminent.

monkeytennis97 · 06/12/2020 08:21

Woo hoo 12 stone 7.2lbs this morning.
