Hello & Welcome

Roughly 8 weeks to Christmas ๐ŸŽ„. We all know itโ€™s been a strange unsettling year. Unprecedented. Nonetheless we all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, youโ€™ll be (to a degree) improving your immune system and your ability to fight infection should you get one. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main itโ€™s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and Iโ€™ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to some unfortunate circumstances in October I didnโ€™t really lose but did maintain. Iโ€™m hoping November will see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Hi all
Well, i did what i said I'd do and relaxed on Friday and as expected I have put on again.
Lost my 12 st something goal. But it was to be expected.
Still, starting this week 3 of healthy eating 5lbs lighter than i was when i started. So that's okay.
I definitely lose more during the week when I get my 10k steps in due to the school walk. I know i need to keep to a certain amount of calories but the walking gives me the extra calorie deficit i think.

Wishing you all a good week.

I was doing well the first week with the water intake but lost it last week. Definitely want to get back into it this week.
I have 400ml glasses. I try to have one in the morning then one with each meal. I then need to add in one more somewhere.

SunshineCake · 23/11/2020 14:00

Hi all

Busy busy morning. Took ds2 to school, then ran 6.67km Shock as only just looked at my stats, then walked doggy for 65 minutes, had a lovely shower then been doing chores. Only just had lunch!

My outside lights are going up next week, just in time for coming home fingers crossed put the tree won't go up for a while, unless the kids ask for it.

1.5lb down but not exciting as I put that on when I didn't run. This week I hope to drop to the next stone level.

Back to jobs. Only have an hour left before school run but at least dinner is prepped. Chicken korma with rice and naan.

Bye for now!

Breathmiller · 23/11/2020 15:34

You are on it today sunshinecake
I have had a quieter day as its ky day off after working the weekend.

But still done a few jobs. Didn't make the school walk this afternoon as it is grotty weather out there. It's a good walk and but just a little too far when it's raining.

Kept to my calories so far though and have (vegan)spaghetti bolognaise for dinner added in to my intake today already.

I'm a bah humbugger with Christmas trees I'm afraid and won't put them up til a week or so before Christmas.

We're also just waiting to get a date to knock a wall down between our living room and kitchen. Now that will be add an interesting decor of...building site to this year's decorations

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 23/11/2020 16:18

Hi everyone I'm on it this week!
Blueberry and almond milk smoothie for breakfast
Homemade sweet potato soup for lunch
Snack of watermelon
Stir fry for tea.

I've also bought a load of healthy snacks, chicken, crabsticks, prawns, pepper, cucumber tomato, fruit, lite babybel, etc. And some low fat hummus to dip the pepper etc in! Feeling quite organised and focused.

Breathmiller · 23/11/2020 16:28

Well done nosuchthingastoomuchcheese

It always feels good when you are in that "I can do this!" mentality

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 23/11/2020 16:45

Thank you. Ate terribly yesterday but didnt even enjoy what I had so what's the point!

Breathmiller · 23/11/2020 18:24

I hear you.
I ate terribly on Friday night. And i felt awful on Saturday morning.
I'm been not drinking alcoholic now for over 3 months but it was like I had a hangover. A salt and sugar hangover. I'm not sure it was worth it. Not just for the gain in lbs but how atrocious i felt the next day.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 23/11/2020 19:09

I know what you mean! Also I'm so much fuller cos I've eaten more sensibly.

FatGirlShrinking · 23/11/2020 20:16

I agree, I find when I slip up and have a carb heavy day, I not only run through my calories really quickly but I also feel starving and bloated with the starving feeling lasting a few days.

I know it's the sugar rush and dip but it means a good 3 days of being hungry while my body resets.

I'm still mad busy at work so struggling a bit with structuring my eating, thankfully it's far less stressful now I don't have to deal with shithead ex-boss!

DD was home today too as we got a txt at 7.05am to let us know they didn't have enough staff to run her bubble, fingers crossed she's back tomorrow. Currently 6 bubbles self isolating due to positive cases so feeling a bit like a house of cards tumbling down at the minute.

Breathmiller · 23/11/2020 20:20

Mind you...I am struggling tonight without snacks . Ive already eaten my exercise calories. It's just so cold and dark and miserable out there.

Keep me away from the chocolate covered rice cakes.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 23/11/2020 20:48

I had a chocolate fibre 90 bar. didnt enjoy it though so have cleaned my teeth now.
Fatgirlshrinking that sounds stressful what does your daughter do?

TheRealHousewife · 24/11/2020 08:52

Good Morning :)

Feeling festive yet ladies? Iโ€™ve been looking up healthy festive food fare and came across these festive buffet style recipes. Donโ€™t involve chocolate but some look tasty.

Todayโ€™s menu is mozzarella chicken and veg. Making a smoothly for lunch. Water water water and yet more water ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Well done everyone for sticking at it ๐Ÿ˜Š

NOT looking forward to weigh day tomorrow, I have been very much emotionally eating this week.
One of my grandparents passed away and there has been some stress about the funeral!!
This year is just such a roller-coaster.

Onwards and upwards!!!

Elle200 · 24/11/2020 15:09

Just a week till my next weigh in, some days I do ok some not so good but hoping for a loss overall.

It's good to read about everyone else's efforts, keeps the determination going!

Breathmiller · 24/11/2020 15:51

@cescaNicole sorry to hear about your grandparent. Flowers

SunshineCake · 24/11/2020 16:27

Hi everyone

So sorry to hear about your grandparent @CescaNicole Flowers. I hope the arrangements are sorted without too much more upset.

Not feeling overly festive yet @TheRealHousewife. Stressing a bit at the moment as still have four deliveries to order plus more gifts to buy not to mention food. I am putting the outside lights up next week in the hope it will bring luck and DS1 will make it home safely.

Had another run today, just short of 7km with really good times, hoping for a good result tomorrow. Sneak peak today and I am down on last Thursday which I am happy about as I went up when I had three days off running.

Although will do an extra weigh in on Monday 30th to fully round up the month and see if there's any extra loss I can squeeze in!

I have a wedding dress fitting once lockdown is lifted so that will be interesting to see how that goes.

Hope everyone is keeping well x

SunshineCake · 25/11/2020 15:03

Well done @FatGirlShrinking and @CescaNicole on your achievements.

I'm not recording a loss from last Thursdays weigh in but I have lost in between as I was up. Still a win as another inch off my tummy since October 20th. Also an emotional win as I head for home when I have had enough, I don't beat myself up if I run a shorter distance and also I have kept going.

We will ignore the two pork pies I ate as an afternoon snack agree a too small lunch. I'm blaming dd as had to pick her up from school early and we went to the supermarket. They are the Christmas pork pies which sounded lovely but tbh I couldn't taste much of a difference or guess the filling.

School run time. Bye for now.

PS I've ordered lots of presents so it has started...๐ŸŒฒ

TheRealHousewife · 25/11/2020 18:54

Hi All

I know what you mean @SunshineCake (and well done on your run) ... I realised today Christmas is only a month away ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Had a clicking frenzy (taking advantage of Black Friday deals) and more or less finished my Christmas shopping apart from a food shop for Christmas week. Iโ€™ve tried for a couple of weeks to get a slot but feel Iโ€™ve missed the boat.

@CescaNicole Flowers & well done on your losses ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅ‡

@FatGirlShrinking. Great progress ๐Ÿ‘โญ๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‡

Attached photo of my evening meal. Gluten free crumbed cod fillet, salad and home made chilli relish. I donโ€™t often have a crumb coating but I remained within my cal limit. Enjoyed every mouthful.

Looks delicious! We had fish, roasted new potatoes, broccoli, carrots and sweetcorn. Feel like I need a little something else though Confused.

Italiangreyhound · 26/11/2020 00:04

Can I join. I need a diabetes check up and I need to lose 3%. Which sounds very little but I am finding it hard.

burninglikefire · 26/11/2020 06:56

Hi, I would also like to join please. Haven't weighed myself recently, but from the tightness of my clothes I know I have put on a few pounds this year.

Am trying not to beat myself up about this but need some help with motivation re exercise and healthy eating.

Going to start the day with porridge and fruit. The challenge will be not to break open the biscuits that will be calling to me from the kitchen cupboard later this morning!

Patrickstarr · 26/11/2020 07:13

Hello! Can I join please.
Currently trying to loose some post baby pounds ( although Iโ€™m not sure how much longer I can call them that, dc is almost 2 now).
Iโ€™ve been mostly calorie counting started at 13st8 around March, Iโ€™m currently 12st7 and hoping to get to 11st9 ish before Christmas. Going to weigh myself every Friday I think, although I find it hard not to do it every morning which can be disheartening!

FatGirlShrinking · 26/11/2020 07:36

Hello @Patrickstarr @Italiangreyhound and @burninglikefire welcome!

@TheRealHousewife that looks really good.

@SunshineCake well done on losing another inch, great work!

Sorry to hear about your grandparent @CescaNicole take care of yourself Thanks

I am determined to hit 190lb by next week. I've been hovering up and down for the last 3 weeks, lose a lb, gain a lb and I don't like it! Getting my trainers on and going out for some exercise every day and making good choices even over the weekend when if I'm honest I'd really like a Chinese takeaway, but no! I shall eat healthy, I can crack this Grin
