Hello & Welcome

Roughly 8 weeks to Christmas ๐ŸŽ„. We all know itโ€™s been a strange unsettling year. Unprecedented. Nonetheless we all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, youโ€™ll be (to a degree) improving your immune system and your ability to fight infection should you get one. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main itโ€™s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and Iโ€™ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to some unfortunate circumstances in October I didnโ€™t really lose but did maintain. Iโ€™m hoping November will see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Afternoon everyone

Really wanted to run off my mood today but we took doggy for a walk somewhere different instead. Once home dh went to get dog and cat food ready for lockdown while I made a picnic lunch. I have made bread with normal flour to try it out and also a giant mince pie as I had mince meat left from last year.

That is great news @Galvantula. I have lost the same half pound at least five times so I am happy it has stayed off plus some.

Welcome @BlowThisForEggAndSoldiers. Sorry to hear about your marriage and good for you and getting back on top of things.

@tulipsaremyfave a stone in a month is incredible. Well done.

Back later, need to feed everyone!

Elle200 · 31/10/2020 13:50

Hi, first time poster with a lot to lose, about 48kg's. I've been dieting for the last six months and have lost 26kg so far. Weigh day is the first of the month so looking forward with trepidation to tomorrows weigh in. Aim for half a stone a month. Good luck everyone.

fallfallfall · 31/10/2020 14:43

Saving my spot for when Iโ€™m less puffy. Salt and bread bread bread has me feeling very bloated.

SunshineCake · 31/10/2020 18:38

Same half stone*BlushSmile

I can report the bread was amazing. Normal plain flour, not bread, the recipe is from Sainsbury's. So easy. Will make it a lot and try with wholemeal flour too.

Welcome @Elle200.

Hope you feel better soon @fallfallfall.

I've been wrapping Christmas presents today as running out of places to put them and if they are wrapped it doesn't matter if anyone sees them. Once the new carpet has been fitted I will use DS1's bedroom to store the presents in.

fallfallfall · 31/10/2020 19:39

@SunshineCake, feeling fine. Just not the right day for getting on the scales. Hamburger on Thursday night full sized, man sized, maybe Canadian cattle country sized. Then yesterday a half one but with pumpkin pie.
So far today Iโ€™m more restrained and supper is way more reasonable.
First fitness walk in before noon :).

Hello Everyone - just checking in for November!

I started on 1st October at 12 stone 1 lb, am currently 11st 9lb. My October goals were to log everything on MFP, avoid all junk food and fizzy drinks of which I binged on TONS during my recent pregnancy, drink 2 litres of water a day and exercise once a week. I'm very pleased with my 6lb loss! I've celebrated today and allowed myself a little treat and had half a packet of giant buttons! Yum.
My overall goal weight is 9 st (ish), I'm trying to get to pre-baby weight.

My November goals are to:

  1. Continue with 1400 cals on MFP
  2. Aim to exercise twice a week
  3. Drink 2L of water per day (or more)
  4. Lose 9lbs and get to 11 stone.

Not sure if number 4 is realistic but I'm feeling positive and want to push for as much of a loss as I can before Christmas, especially as I'm due to get married in December.

You guys are inspiring me to try C25K..... but I haven't run in a year or so. I'd need to find some courage to get out and go for it! Blush

Hope you're all well! See you on Wednesday for WOW!

Doseydots · 01/11/2020 05:21

Good morning. Despite the cat waking me up at silly oโ€™clock, I feel positive and ready to give this a go. Am gonna do some yoga and take the dog for a walk this morning. DH is cooking a roast for lunch and I reckon I can have this and still stay within MFP goals. Does anybody else find that eating a main meal at lunch time keeps them full for the rest of the day? I could eat the same meal in the evening and be hungry an hour later,

Flippant · 01/11/2020 06:23

Hello! Thank you so much for the motivation! Iโ€™m fed up with being fed up with my weight. Going to join in here for accountability. I have all the excuses - 18 month old, busy job, very sad family news, husband who loves food and drink as much as me... but this month Iโ€™m going to really focus on myself and get my health in check.
Iโ€™m very good at starting these things, not so good at sticking to it. So my goals for November are:

  1. keep checking in here to remember why Iโ€™m doing it and stay motivated
  2. log all food on MFP
  3. 1200 calories per day
  4. no alcohol on weekdays
  5. c25k x3 per week

Good luck everybody

Elle200 · 01/11/2020 08:06

OK, so I'm weighing in at 103.7kgs, a loss of 2kg through October. I'd hoped for a bit more, I think I'm too sedentary so must take more exercise.

cloudofdreams · 01/11/2020 09:39

Official start day check in. Starting weight 135.4lb.BTW I am under 5foot so this weight doesn't work for me. My goals are to complete whole30, 3 ltrs of water per day, one hour varied exercise 6 days a week. I am hoping for a 6lb weight loss over the month. I will be reading all posts to keep motivation going and hopefully to learn some tips.Good luck to all of usโ˜บ๏ธ

Doh- posted in October thread.

Joining this thread last summer - I think I was 62.5ish kg and i went right back up there during the start of lockdown in March/April. (big stress/comfort eater)

More recently:

Start of August this year was 60.3 kg.
September 59.2 kg.
October 58.4 kg
November 57.5 kg .

(Very first MFP weigh in 6 years ago was 77 kg!)

So overall feeling happy with the steady progress. ๐Ÿ‘ MFP still works for me to rein in the slide into over eating.

Must make a habit of checking in here more often though! :)

salad49 · 01/11/2020 18:00

Hi all, just checking back in for November, even though I was pretty rubbish at posting when I joined in October.

Started October at 12st8, weighed in this morning at 11st13 so a 9lb loss for the month which I'm really pleased with, I already feel so much better in my self. My long term aim is to get down to around 10st and then maintain it. Will continue logging everything on MFP and trying to exercise around 5 times a week. Will be going back to work in January so will probably look to reduce breastfeeding in the next few weeks so will see how that affects weight loss.

Must admit I'm having a day off logging on mfp today, I'm making the sunday dinner I've been craving for weeks so want to enjoy my yorkshires and roast potatoes without worrying about it!

TheRealHousewife · 01/11/2020 18:06

Hi ladies

Sorry I forgot to post this morning. I didnโ€™t lose in October unless you count the 4lbs that came and went several times .... accumulatively that would be about a stone ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. Seriously, stress wise, I had a right time of it but have a grip now.

Intermittent fasting went well so at least my blood sugars/insulin will have been stable.

Hereโ€™s to seeing positive changes in November ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi everyone.
Just checking in to report that I walked past/turned down about a million pastries and cakes today. Then my son wanted to bake, so we made triple-chocolate muffins, and I didn't even fight him to scrape the bowl. My strength is as the strength of ten, etc. Halo
I've started a little challenge for myself where I add 10 crunches to yesterday's total every day this week.

PontiacBandit · 01/11/2020 19:06

๐Ÿ–๏ธ I'm in too. I've been floating around 13stones for many years but it has been creeping up. The idea of being 10st and a size 12 is laughable but I'm raring to give it a good try.

I've switched to kg as it's easier for the apps I use and I've lost 1.6kg this week by cutting carbs and upping the veg intake. I'll eat breakfast only if I'm hungry otherwise I'll wait until lunch. I've managed to cut out the large morning coffee and switch to peppermint tea on most days.

I'm ready to introduce a little exercise and did a YouTube workout this morning and felt great. I've ordered a few gym bits which will arrive next week.

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/11/2020 20:25

Hi, just checking in waves to all the new and "old" faces.

A few of you must be a lot shorter than me! I've weighed in at 70.6 today which puts me at a BMI of 24.5 so happy with that. Maintaining around the 10kg loss.

Hope you're all OK with the news we got yesterday. I've kind of made my peace with it though dreading it Sad

FatGirlShrinking · 01/11/2020 20:50

@MrsJonesAndMe I actually feel ok about it, I think because schools are staying open and because we don't really do much anyway, we've been in some form of lockdown so long here in Leicester and have been unable to socialise with other households indoors since March so haven't been going to pubs or restaurants anyway.

It will be a bit less convenient in regards to shopping but again, we get most from supermarkets which will be staying open anyway.

Bit annoyed I've had m6 gym membership 1 month and they've closed down again but can't be helped, will just have to run in the rain.

If schools close it will be a total bugger as we'll be back to WFH while homeschooling which was a nightmare but this feels more doable.

BlowThisForEggAndSoldiers · 01/11/2020 21:04

@MrsJonesAndMe I was just wondering if there were many other talls here! I'm 5'9, my goal weight of 64kg is way over a lot of women's starting weight.

Galvantula · 01/11/2020 22:01

@MrsJonesAndMe yeah I'm only 5ft 3 and a bit Grin

TheRealHousewife · 01/11/2020 22:02

Welcome @PontiacBandit youโ€™ve come to the right place. These threads have been going over a 1.5 years and we still have founding members; such @SunshineCake (I hope you donโ€™t mind me using you as a positive example) a who has done marvellously well and utterly changed her health and fitness. Same with relative newbies @FatGirlShrinking whoโ€™s also doing fantastically well.

If your head space is clear of negative self chat you can do it!

FatGirlShrinking · 01/11/2020 22:56

@BlowThisForEggAndSoldiers and @fallfallfall I'm 5ft 8', my ultimate goal is 64kg which is 25.5kg less than I am now Shock so thats a ways off ๐Ÿคฃ

My next goal is 74.5kg which would put me into the healthy range, still 15kg to lose but feels a tad more reachable.
