Anyone starting tomorrow and not planning a ''quick fix''

Hello!

I have gained a shocking amount of weight and absolutely need to regain control of myself.

I do not need another drop-some-lbs-quickly-to-look-lovely-in-my-new-frock-diet. I think it is more serious than that for me now and I need to completely transform my relationship with food, as it has obviously become unhealthy.

I have come crawling back to dieting, (and to MN), to hopefully find some weight loss buddies.

I am planning to do the "No S Diet". The rules are:

  1. No sweet treats
  2. No second helpings
  3. No snacking between meals

Except on "S" days; Saturdays, Sundays and Special Days, (birthdays, Christmas etc).

On "S" days, the theory is that you stick to your three, square meals and also have a special treat or two over the weekend. It isn't that you can then eat a whole tub of ice cream every weekend or anything.

It is meant to be a lifelong plan, (aren't they all?), not a quick fix. So I am not expecting rapid weight loss. I honestly just need to stop gaining at such an alarming rate. Even if I stay as fat as I am, (and I am quite fat), I could live with it, but the rapid weight gain has scared me tbh! I have gained approximately two stone in less than a year SadBlushConfused. Two years ago, I had a normal BMI and I'd just had a baby. Now, I am on the cusp of obese.

I am circa 14 stone, (a few lbs under), and need to be circa 11 and a half stone. At this point, I'd settle for anything under 13! I am 36.

Would love some company Smile.

Hello all!

We have a small garden which is lawn only. DH mows it quite happily and dcs 'help'. We have some things growing in pots, but that is the height of it for gardening. In all honesty, I really want to move house or even move areas, so we don't want to put too much effort into getting the garden right!

Anyway, I've had a couple of days off the gym / swim. Back on it today. Diet has been a mixed bag really. All very good until the evening, when dcs go to bed! I started my 6 minute journalling thing today. Easy enough so far.

We are about to go for a play at the park and then I'm going for a swim while DH very kindly cooks dinner and watches dcs.

First full week of school for dc1 coming up. I'm planning some outings to keep dc2 entertained this week, without dc1 for company. We have our settling in session on Wednesday with the new childminder! Hope it goes well.

@LadyPrigsbottom the DC have been a nightmare for going to bed recently... when they eventually did drop off last night it was off to Snack City for me Sad

The problem is that if I eat early with them (5ish) then I'm still hungry late evening (9ish) once they're asleep. If I don't eat with them, I'm starving and then eat more at 8ish once I can finally eat without them, but that's too late for me to eat a big meal!

How is your DC1 getting on at school? Our area is already being threatened with local lockdowns, I will sob if the schools shut again...

Have you managed to start walking again @WhistlersandJugglers?

LadyPrigsbottom · 09/09/2020 11:04

Oh no! I really hope the local lockdown doesn't have to happen for you @RubySlippers77! Dc1 would be so gutted if school closed!

A neighbour just mentioned that they are thinking of not allowing households to mix where we are. No mention of schools closing...yet 😬.

I'm enjoying the normality of school and regular mealtimes again. I've been reasonably good with the 16:8 and walked a lot all week but I think I'll wait until next week to weigh in.
I think the County next to us might have a local lockdown coming soon. It's a bit of a worry as the kids school has lots of pupils from there and I'd hate for the school to shut again this soon.

Hi all!

It's me, LadyP! Excuse new name. Tech fail/long story.

How is everyone doing?

I'm feeling ok. Planning another week of as much activity as I can get in, plus reducing carbs, which have definitely been a bit too much lately.

Hope the local lockdowns haven't affected anyone too badly? So far we are ok, but things change so quickly!

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend Smile.

Hi, I'll join, I have gone from a 14 to a 10 since May. Looking to maintain, I'm 5'8

JessicaTheJellyfish · 13/09/2020 21:00

Oh well done @W989! That's a fab loss!

You are very welcome Smile.

W989 · 13/09/2020 21:04

@JessicaTheJellyfish thanks. If you need any tips or if anyone else does happy to help!

RubySlippers77 · 13/09/2020 23:04

Impressive loss @W989!

How is your routine going @WhistlersandJugglers? We are still being threatened with local lockdowns, but nothing definite as yet. The DC are doing longer hours at school this week and I have probably very ambitious plans to sort myself out, eat well, exercise more etc. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to nothing if they get sent home and I have to console myself with Cake and Wine

I want to reduce my carbs too @JessicaTheJellyfish... it's just such an easy option to have a sandwich/ toast/ chips etc to fill up on! (Just found your Style & Beauty thread by the way, will join that too!!)

W989 · 13/09/2020 23:05

@RubySlippers77 thanks. just want to maintain now. I am tempted to try and get to a 8, but i'm 5ft8

JessicaTheJellyfish · 14/09/2020 08:10

Oh excited to have you on the S&B thread @RubySlippers77 Grin. It's such a lovely thread.

Today is the day! I'm just having a Brew and then think I'll either have eggs or kefir for breakfast.

RubySlippers77 · 14/09/2020 09:04

Early start for us as school started a bit earlier (well, the DC's class did, staggered start & finish times here). I shovelled in a bit of toast and marmalade and am shortly off to buy healthy stuff for future breakfasts!!
