New thread!

OP posts:

eeeuuwww. There's a lovely image.

TigerFeet · 12/11/2007 09:35

I've had tests for everything under the sun LongMeg, all negative. I'll give the spatone a try, comments about nosebleeds duly noted . Supplements tend not to agree with me though, they make me feel sick. I'll just have to up my spinach and broccoli intake I think - my poor digestion and my poor family

LongMeg · 12/11/2007 10:39

Spatone is much better than traditional iron supplements in that it is highly unlikely to upset your stomach or make you sick. It isn't a processed or manufactured supplement, it's just water - albeit water which is naturally very, very high in iron - so it is much more easily tolerated than iron supplements in tablet form. Taking it with fruit juice helps absorb it better, as well as taking away the metallic taste (sorry about the choice of image but that really is what it tastes like )

Hi - just dropping in to get this back on my active list. DS ill (bronchitis) so haven't been around much. Will catch up later...

LongMeg · 14/11/2007 19:42

Poor old Gherkin. Hope he's feeling better soon.

Kewcumber · 14/11/2007 20:12

he is actually today - still has a shocking cough but sounds more like a normal cough IYKWIM. Hoping the weekend is a bit easier than last weekend!

LongMeg · 14/11/2007 20:47

Fingers crossed.

I'm glad he's a bit better now anyway.

JackieNo · 14/11/2007 22:41

Glad he's a bit better, Kew. Coughs all round here - had book group at my house this evening (the only way I was going to get to go to it with DH away was to host it) and DD spent most of the time on the stairs, unable to sleep for her cough. I got her to get back into bed for a while to try to sleep, and she said 'Why can't they all go, then you could spend all the time you like with me' . Will be dosing her up with Medised later, I suspect, as it may be the only way she'll get much sleep. Though it's gone a bit quiet up there atm. So we'll see.

LongMeg · 15/11/2007 11:53

Did she get any sleep in the end, Jackie?

(Reminds me: must nag dd to get her letter to your dd finished)

Are we all up for weigh-in today?

JackieNo · 15/11/2007 14:17

Well, eventually. I dosed her up with cough mixture half way through book club, then once everyone had gone, and the house wasn't filled with the shrieking laughter of 6 laydees, she managed to sleep. Though I did have to give her some more 'night coughs' stuff at about 3am .

I'm up for weigh in, though did over-indulge last night, and have loads of very calorific leftovers in the house.

TigerFeet · 15/11/2007 18:46

All these coughs

I still have mine - it has been four weeks now and I still feel rotten. I have been signed off work and told to rest (yeah right) and prescribed uberantibiotics. I rather suspect it's viral though as they don't seem to be working. Apparently one of my lungs is quite badly clogged up.

Have lost 2 lbs this week. Fark only knows how, I have been doing a lot of comfort eating although I have been eating an awful lot of fruit & veg. Usual story though, lots of f&v and lots of everything elst too.

DD still won't sleep unless I sleep at the end of her bed I'm just amazed she hasn't caught my lurgy.

JackieNo · 15/11/2007 20:34

TigerFeet - poor you. You've had that lurgy for ages. I guess the fruit and veg have to be doing some good, even if it's just to make things not as bad as they might be, just not actually better. (chocolate's supposed to be good for coughs).

I'll be incredibly glad to see DH back tomorrow evening. I found last weekend and all of this week really stressful - not just because he's away, though partly. Work's been hectic, and lots of unpleasant jobs. But I know that I'm likely to do what I often do when he gets back from a trip - key myself up for it, then collapse in a shrieking, gibbering heap at the slightest provocation. And it's just the time of the month for it. Maybe by writing this down I'll have it more in the back of my mind, and be able to get a grip .

Seem to have lost half a pound. OK, but could do better - well done on losing 2, TigerFeet.

littlemisssensible · 16/11/2007 10:40

Forgot to weigh yesterday (mainly because I'm a day behind this week!) but I managed to lose 2.5lbs!

I suspect it's the 2.5lbs put on last week from stuffing left over halloween candy, and anything else I could lay my hands on to keep me going through dd's tonsillitis (i can't spell!)so it probably doesn't count really

I caught dd's lurgy over the last weekend, thus I had Monday at home in bed and have been trying to catch up with myself all week! Still feeling a bit c*@p but I hope it goes quicker than your lurgy Tigerfeet. I hope you feel better soon

I hope everyone's LOs feel better soon too, it can really drag you down when they're sick can't it!

LongMeg · 16/11/2007 11:22

Just got time to post the weights before I go to work ... I have been covering three or four days a week for one of the play leaders (aka dinner ladies!) at dd's school. She's been off sick for months and is not coming back, so I start permanently on Monday. It's only an hour and a half a day but it's actually been good for my weight - I haven't got time to sit at home and stuff myself anymore on the days I've been working. Hence the weight loss ...

So ... new start, here we go:

JackieNo: - 0.5 (total 0.5)
LMS: - 2.5 (total 8.5)
TigerFeet: -2lb (total 2lb)
WWB: - 7lb (total 7lb)

Cream cakes all round, I think
