Hi Tigerfeet,

Yep! DD is back at school and I'm trying not to fall asleep at my desk.....on this nice, comfortable, pile of tax returns which someone has so thoughtfully piled here for me....zzzzzz!

I definately need to start weighing again. It's one of the few things that keeps me under control! I'm still under that magic 13 stone but only just and if I don't do something now I shall be well and truly over it by Jan 1st!!!!

Shall we do a restart this week? I can't really remember where I was loss/gain wise though I guess I'm still 1lb under 13st so I guess that could be my cumlative loss!

agalch · 06/11/2007 13:13

Hi all

Have just stuffed the ast of our Halloween shite down my neck Hardly got any guisers this year and had loads of goodie bags made up so guess who had to eat em all???

Can't stop myself once i have started, actually feel very very sick. Have been good for 2.5 days tho up till today lol.

I am more than reafy to start weighing in again. Got my 1st ever MN meet up on the 15th of December so want to buy summat n my new size and not a size bigger!!!

TigerFeet · 06/11/2007 13:41

That's a good incentive isn't it agalch? I am going to the work Christmas do at the end of this month - too late to do much losing of weight but hopefully I won't put any more on

I am going to do a restart. The alternative is just far too depressing!

LongMeg/JackieNo/Kewcumber where are you? I need to know if you want me to take over the weights and I'll need passwords etc if you do

agalch · 06/11/2007 13:51

Hi Tiger

Yeah,i don't plan on losing weight as such, just want to be on an even keel for a while and cut out the binging hopefully. Going out to buy an outfit(oh god help me) and haven't a clue what to buy. It is in a smaller size than last year tho so that is positive

JackieNo · 06/11/2007 20:26

Hello all. At last - some people talking to each other. It's been too quiet around here for too long. I'd be happy for you to do the weights TigerFeet, but as LongMeg set up the email account, I suspect it ought to be her call - I'll try emailing her, or if you 'see' her on Facebook you could ask her then .

TigerFeet and littlemissssensible - sounds as if you've both been having a tough time on the sleeping front. Hope your respective DDs give you a bit of peace at night soon.

DH is away (scuba diving, Turks and Caicos islands for a week, then via (bit not leaving) Heathrow to Barcelona for work for a week), so I'm at my most dangerous, eating-wise. Plus not having him around means I have fewer chances to go for a run.

Agalch - what sort of outfit did you have in mind?

LongMeg · 06/11/2007 20:59

Haven't been around much lately, what with one thing and another (roofers, arsey dh, working a few hours) - looks like we need a shake-up ... I know I do

Sorry to have left you all in the lurch with the weights and things - needed a bit of a breather from MN for a while. I ought to get my arse into gear and start the weights again really ... if someone gives me a hard enough kick I'll get shifted and get us started again.

JackieNo · 06/11/2007 21:05

Yay - welcome back. It has all gone a bit to pot recently hasn't it? Lovely to see you LongMeg.

LongMeg · 06/11/2007 21:10

Feels odd to be back somehow ... have been horribly piggy with my eating again recently and I suspect it's because I haven't had you guys keeping me on the (sometimes) straight and narrow!

Dh is away all week - and as you said, Jackie, that's always a dangerous time. Have been scoffing far too much (and have the indigestion to prove it).

Dd actually asked me to lose weight the other day, which made me cry a bit - really made me feel guilty for not knuckling down and getting on with it. Have been thinking about Weight Watchers - I didn't have a very good experience with them last time I went but they are the only slimming club near here who do a daytime class.

JackieNo · 06/11/2007 21:14

at your DD asking you to lose weight. Could you do online something or other (WW or Slimming world?) or do you not fancy that. It is useful to have the whole group thing, I guess.

LongMeg · 06/11/2007 21:22

I don't know what the best way forward is. Doing it on my own isn't working, though, and maybe the discipline of having to stand on scales in front of someone else will work.

Weight Watchers wasn't nice last time I did it (I think I've probably mentioned the piggy ears for the "pig of the week", and reading out everyone's weight) but I can't find anything else during the daytime. There are Slimming World classes locally but only in the evenings, and I can't always get out to an evening class. My old Rosemary Conley class has closed down, otherwise I'd go back to that one - the exercise is something I really need to get my weight moving.

I cried after dd asked me to lose weight; it really caught me on the hop. She wants to be able to go for long walks and cycle rides together, and although we do go out walkingI'm not very fast because of the bulk I'm heaving around. I think she's also getting some grief from one or two of the kids at school - and she does take things like that so much to heart.

JackieNo · 06/11/2007 21:32

Don't blame you for crying. Wish we lived closer together so we could do stuff together.

LongMeg · 06/11/2007 22:14

Oh, so do I. Would be easier with another bod here for support, I think.

Dh isn't much use in that respect; every time I start to get myself motivated he brings home chocolates and puddings I think he thinks he's being nice, and that a little of what you fancy does you good, but he doesn't understand that I don't have the willpower to (a) say no, or (b) only have a little!

TigerFeet · 07/11/2007 09:50

It is hard to do the slimming club thing by yourself isn't it? I have done Slimming World and Rosemary Conley with some success but it was rubbish going by myself so I never lasted the distance.

agalch · 07/11/2007 18:17

Jackie haven't a flipping clue.

I always thought if i got down a few sizes shopping would be fun but it aint. I still want to dress bigger than i am iyswim.

The meet up is somewhere "nice" so i should be thinking really smart/dressy

Aww LongMeg,poor you. My dd1 who is only 3 has started giggling and saying i have a big fat jelly belly. Don't know what to say to her cos i don't want her to think having a jelly belly is bad you know?
I cannot believe about the WW thing either Scottish Slimmers is nothing like that. Our leader is sooo supportive and would never discuss weights openly or the ears thing, jeez i can't believe that and Could you try another club?

How old is your dd Tiger? My dd2 sleeps with me as i couldn't cope with the sleepless nights. Dd1 only went into her own bed when i was 8 months pg with dd2. Also co-slept with the ds's.I get more sleep co-sleeping than being up and down all night(my dc have all been poor sleepers)

Better go as dd1 looks as tho she is gonna nod off, quick bath and bed hurrah!!

littlemisssensible · 08/11/2007 13:48

Good to see ya LongMeg, but for your daughter's comments!

Have you tried the Weight Watchers/slimming world/ Rosemary Connelys? online stuff? I found the weight watchers one quite good because I could get new recipes to try so I didn't get bored, but I find online support suits me well (Its why I like Mofos! I used Ivillage shape up challenge before! Shame I can't keep it off once its gone )

Is there a new leader at your local WW because that may make all the difference!

Good Luck anyway!

JackieNo · 08/11/2007 18:09

So are we weighing today then? On a 'new start' basis. I'll email anyway. Have put on a bit, but not as much as it seemed yesterday .

LongMeg · 08/11/2007 19:09

Yeah, let's weigh. Either on a new-start basis or carrying on from where you left off - either is fine. I forgot (story of my life) so will do it tomorrow.

It's been a long while since I did slimming classes so the leaders will hopefully have changed. I don't think online will work for me - I think I need to be made to stand in front of someone writing weights down otherwise it's too easy to let it slip ... again and again and again and again.

agalch · 08/11/2007 21:23

Hey lost 2lbs today!!!!

On my way again hopefully.

JackieNo · 08/11/2007 21:43

Yay - well done agalch.

LongMeg · 10/11/2007 14:21

Struggling with my Hotmail connection at the mo so haven't got all the weights yet ... but I'm doing my best

Watch this space ...

JackieNo · 10/11/2007 17:45

Well I'm having a stressful weekend (nothing actually wrong, just with DH away, I'm having to go out of my comfort zone a bit - mostly driving the DCs to places I haven't been to before, and I find that very stressful, though it's been fine). So it's Domino's for supper tonight.

LongMeg · 11/11/2007 09:37

OK - I think these are the right weights now. But there aren't very many. Perhaps if we get ourselves posting regularly again (and I get my arse into gear a bit better) that will pick up.

The figures I have are

Agalch: -2lb (total 35lb)
JackieNo: stayed the same (total +2.5)

New start for me so nothing to post this week. If anyone else wants to add their weight or email me, I can get the book back up to date and then we can start afresh with a new thread and a new enthusiasm on Thursday.

TigerFeet · 11/11/2007 18:42

I'm starting from scratch this week, so will have a weight next week - LongMeg I will email you my starting weight at some point

Having a bad time of it atm - dd is still not sleeping, I have been coughing and spluttering for over 3 weeks, I am breaking out in fungal skin infections everywhere and I feel really run down and crappy. I am eating loads of fruit & veg (joined Franny's 10/10 thread) but it doesn't seem to be helping much. All I want to do is sleep [sigh]

If anyone has any ideas as to what I can do to pick myself up I'd be really grateful

Oh yes and to add insult to injury, LongMeg is properly stuffing me at scrabble again

JackieNo · 11/11/2007 18:46

Thanks for doing the weights LongMeg.

TigerFeet - so sorry to hear it's still not going well. I'd guess the fruit and veg will take a while to kick in, but may not have their full effect until the sleeping thing settles down. Not sure what to suggest, really. I do hope things start to sort themselves out soon.

LongMeg · 11/11/2007 20:12

I've got to be good at something, Tigerfeet ... am spectacularly crap at almost everything else!

Tiger, have you had blood tests done for diabetes and thyroid function? Might be worth a try. Or maybe try a good iron supplement for a couple of weeks - Spatone is good (but don't try taking it on its own; it tastes like a nosebleed!).
