Who's in? I'm a mess.

I need a lot of work 😁

I'm going to try and ditch quite a few pounds and make myself more lovely again. I need a complete overhaul. Starting tomorrow obviously!

@quarentini I cried this morning when I weighed myself. Still, I now know what I'm facing.

I’m in. Weighed in today and could cry. So aiming for 10,000 steps a day and following slimming world pinch of nom.
Wine is my downfall so didn’t buy any on my weekly shop today.

Innitogether · 15/06/2020 16:40

@ThornsInMySides - today is the start of more self loving! I've read a few weight-loss threads on MN over the weekend, but this one appeals most because of the self-care element. Even when I'm overweight (which has been quite a few years now) I can still look good when I have a good haircut, wear make-up and generally take some pride in my appearance. I struggle with my MH, particularly in winter and was off sick for 3 months Jan to March, then Covid came, and I've barely left the house for 6 months. The inactivity has a lot to do with my failure to lose any weight. I'm still struggling with the idea of going outside, I really need to work on it. I have ordered a bicycle in the hope that I will just jump on that and cycle around (something I haven't done for 40 years!)

wowfudge · 15/06/2020 16:46

OP - I'm the same height and was the same weight at the beginning of the year. 20lbs down and about 10 to go. You've got this. I can't stand the term princessing but definitely didn't look after myself before - more of a fading into the background approach. Now I'm fake tanned and have treated myself to skincare stuff and some new clothes.

@Innitogether taking before photos is a great idea. Taking your measurements as well as weighing yourself is too - and measure both your natural waist and round your belly. That way you can tell when you are changing shape.

Innitogether · 15/06/2020 17:11

Fudge I need to take a side-on photo too, that is the scariest sight when I catch myself in the mirror - just protruding butt, belly and saggy boobs. I have taken measurements, my thighs are as big as my 20-something waist used to be (sob!).

Anyway - I've done my fast day today (11am - 5pm eating window) and looking forward to a nice cup of tea with milk at 9am tomorrow, although having black coffee first thing wasn't as bad as I thought it would be today so I might fast for longer.

Innitogether · 15/06/2020 17:13

Oh, and I've just had a reminder that I'm attending a Times+ online Fitness and Nutrition event tomorrow - so hopefully there will be some good tips that I can share with everyone.

ThornsInMySides · 15/06/2020 17:24

@wowfudge I've never fake tanned before. What do i need to know, would love to have a go.

I've had a look back through the depths of time , and found this list , from September 2012
( thanks @HelgatheHairy )

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use teeth whitener
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg every day
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 13. Body brushing 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.

This is the main list , but the suggestion is to tweak it to your own style
This is all a bit too much for me , so I'm hoping to have a think , and get 5 rules for this week and add a couple more next week

SistemaAddict · 15/06/2020 17:56

I've just had chilli tofu noodle thing and am
Stuffed. I'm a pasta with tomato and cheese sauce person really. Too fulll for pudding but feeling a sense of mild panic at not being able to eat from 6pm. I'm someone who needs breakfast within half an hour of waking up as otherwise I feel very sick.

I'm wondering if I should measure my thighs. And arms. Measuring my waist is pointless as I suffer dreadful bloating even after drinking just water. I used to be between a 10 and 12 and now between a 12 and 14 as my jeans are tight. My belly never goes and due to bloating thanks to IBS and endometriosis there's not much hope there but the fat can at least go.

I blame my dc, hormones and evening snacks. In the reverse order. I don't smoke, rarely drink alcohol, drink mainly water and lots of it (and pee for England) and am usually really active. Veggie, take aways are once in a blue moon. I don't even eat big portions. Peri-menopause is a bitch.

Charles11 · 15/06/2020 18:27

I’ve had dinner and that’s my food done for the day. I’ll sip on some tea while watching tv later and then early night with my book.

Kljnmw3459 · 15/06/2020 18:31

Spaghetti bol for dinner with a glass of wine. Managed a quick walk with toddler.

Helgathehairy · 15/06/2020 18:49

doilooklikeatourist

That’s a blast from the past!! I didn’t create the original princessing thread but I did adapt it to a Christmas countdown for a few years.

Anyway I am so in for this thread. I’ll go read it and be back with a plan!

SistemaAddict · 15/06/2020 18:51

Calves 14.5" at the widest point.
Thighs 20" mid-point.

Haven't done arms and I have no idea what any of them measured before anyway but it's a start to mark progress.

winterisstillcoming · 15/06/2020 18:53

@Doilooklikeatourist I'm pinching that list. I'll copy paste it and tick off if you don't mind Grin.

I'm on 12 k steps and 800 cals. I'm going to eat and walk and save a hundred cals for a treat later.

I know from experience the next few days are going to be hangry days. So need to be kind to myself in other areas. And to kind to the kids!

I'd love to hear people's tips. Mine is to eat as late as possible in the morning. And go to bed early!

DeterminedLittleBugger · 15/06/2020 19:04

Thanks for posting that list @Doilooklikeatourist

Today I’ve managed these,

  1. 8 glasses of filtered water a day
  2. Exfoliate (everything...within reason)
  3. Use anti-aging face cream
  4. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  5. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream
10. Use hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week & no boozing it up on weekends 12. Take vitamins every day 16. Regular hair removal 19. DAILY body moisturising

I’ve just done a 6000 step walk and made/ate PON Peri Peri Chicken with half a pack of Uncle Ben’s Mexican Rice and a nice big plate of salad and some reduced fat sour cream and chive. Diet starts tomorrow...I’m having an ice cream Sundae delivered shortly...

Tomorrow I will be back on Weigh Watchers!

Nice to “meet” everyone.

wowfudge · 15/06/2020 19:05

@Innitogether - I bought Skinny Tan Coconut Water Mist. It doesn't have a guide colour so no staining clothes or bedding. Skinny Tan have lots of offers on at the moment. In the evening or morning exfoliate in the shower. Moisturise. Next morning or in the evening remoisturise knobbly bits like knees, elbows and ankles apply fake tan, wash hands thoroughly. Tan develops over eight hours. Doesn't smell like lots of fake tans do.

wowfudge · 15/06/2020 19:07

@ThornsInMySides - sorry I just tagged Innit instead of you re: fake tan. The heat has got to my brain.

ThornsInMySides · 15/06/2020 19:11

@wowfudge thanks for that, I shall have a look online in a bit.

@DeterminedLittleBugger and @winterisstillcoming , not my work I just copied it from @Helgathehairy
I remember a pre Christmas attempt , I think there was a100 day countdown
Well , the good thing is no alcohol
The bad. I've just eaten a cornetto
Big shop is on Wednesday , will top up with fruit and veg , I have enough moisturiser for the whole village , and I really want Beauty salons to open soon ( looks at hairy legs and shudders )

fitflopqueen · 15/06/2020 20:00

i'm in too, did first C25K this morning, drank lots of water, have oiled nails today. Moisturise all over every day anyway.
Will try to avoid alcohol.

Youngatheart00 · 15/06/2020 20:11

Found you!

You all seem like my kind of people. Love the self care element as part of the weight loss journey.

Have just started another thread but was pointed towards this one - id love to join.

Just weighed self and am 13 st 3 which is a good stone and a half higher than my previous max weight. I’m utterly shocked and ashamed of myself. BMI 29 so bordering obese

It’s the wake up call I need to stop the daily boozing and eating whatever and whenever I fancy.

Re self care part - I’m committing to putting make up on and blow drying my hair for my work video calls tomorrow. My mug has looked really chunky recently - blamed the camera but it’s obviously because I Actually Am Fat.

Barely any clothes fit other than stretchy gym clothes of flowy dresses. If I go for the stretchy gym clothes but commit to actually DOING some exercise (rather than sitting in yoga pants eating crisps) that might be a start Blush

ThornsInMySides · 15/06/2020 20:16

Hi @Youngatheart00 glad that you have found us. I cried this morning when I weighed myself! Feeling much more positive now.

OP posts:
SistemaAddict · 15/06/2020 20:17

I've 3 stepped and put an overnight mask on, removed the chipped polish from my toes, filed, washed and put cracked heel cream on, moisturised my legs and arms and am now settling down to watch tv.

Breakfast was toast and tea as usual
Lunch strawberries, raspberries, 2 babybels
Dinner tofu noodle thingy
Small bar of dairy milk
5 sweets
Bowl of lentil crisps

I don't have a Fitbit to count my steps and don't carry my phone around the house all the time so no idea how many steps I've done.

A vast improvement believe it or not!
