Anyone else taking Alli during lockdown?

lockdownalli · 31/05/2020 10:33

So the first eight weeks of lockdown I ate cake and drank Wine

Then I weighed myself and realised I was 12 stone 13 and 5 foot five, putting me in the obese category Blush

I decided to try Alli. The only thing that had put me off it before was the unfortunate side effects if you eat too much fat in a meal. Allegedly there is a risk you can shit your pants.

I figured as I currently leave the house once or twice a week, this would be the IDEAL time to try this particular tool out. I do see it as a tool, rather than some kind of Miracle Cure for Gluttony.

So I started taking it, only with meals that contain fat, and after just one week I am 12 stone 5!!! Bloody delighted.

I haven't had any accidents, but have had to scoot upstairs or out of bed a couple of times as you get far less time between thinking you need to go, and the , erm, event.

Also, apologies if TMI, I am having more frequent BMs and there is sometimes a sort of orange globuley film on the bowl which I believe is the fat.

Is anyone else using lockdown as a reason to try Alli? I couldn't possibly use it in my "normal" life which involves lots of packed commuter trains and long drives.

Well done @princesshollysmagicalwand a stone!!!! That's amazing

Startoftheyear2020 · 09/07/2020 07:59

@princesshollysmagicalwand that's my downfall too you're making great progress!

Startoftheyear2020 · 11/07/2020 05:40

I've lost almost half and stone and feel great. How's everyone else doing?

lockdownalli · 12/07/2020 09:00

Well done everyone. I am the same - I can eat GIANT portions of food.

So, I haven't lost anything this week Sad Angry

I had a Big Cheat Day where I ate a whole pizza and some chocolates and it appears to have thrown me completely off kilter which is totally vexing. Never mind, I have still lost 19lbs in 7 weeks which is no mean feat and I shall KOKO.

Just ordered some. I did try this years ago and tbh I don’t think I did it properly and I pooped myself in a shop 😂😂 me and my DH still joke about it!

But hoping it can help me as I am ridiculously overweight. I don’t really diet as such, it makes me obsessive and Just a horrible person to be around. So will see if this helps and hopefully I don’t poop myself this time!

Bluewavescrashing · 12/07/2020 09:46

I heard of someone, possibly on MN who pooped herself in her car after taking Alli 😳

I can see the attraction if you're at home a lot. What happens if you eat sugar?

lockdownalli · 12/07/2020 10:01

I don't think sugar affects you at all - it's just fat.

Having said that - I didn't have any odd after effects on my cheat day, despite all the pizza and chocolates.

I don't think I would have been brave enough to embark on this if I weren't at home so much due to COVID. My normal life involves lots of busy trains...

Definitely not a magic bullet, it’s got to go along with eating carefully. Prospect of embarrassing side effects has definitely helped me. @lockdownalli don’t lose heart after a slip. If this is going to work you’ve got to have slips and feel OK about staying on track.
Perhaps think about each week rather than each day. If you keep within a broad goal of eating x,000 calories per week then you can have slips and still stay on track. Also, you’ve lost so much so quickly it might be good for you to plateau for a couple of weeks and then aim to lose more.
If we can’t plateau then we’ll never keep the weight off!

Hey I started on the stronger version of Alli 2 weeks ago. Orlistat they are AMAZING I've lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks. As long as you dont mind the oil every time you eat haha

Heismyopendoor · 12/07/2020 21:58

That’s great @dollypops15 well done :)

Heismyopendoor · 15/07/2020 10:18

My tablets arrived this morning, first one taken with breakfast :)

Would anyone like to share meal plans? Or what you are eating in a day with portion size?

dollypops15 · 15/07/2020 10:55

@Heismyopendoor I'm eating from a pasta dish as opposed to a normal dish. Lost 4 pounds now in week 3. So over a stone. Stay away from anything fried. Completely forget about sausages and cereal. The 💩 afterwards isnt worth it. I've stopped all mince aswel so only having eggs chicken and turkey from my protien

princesshollysmagicalwand · 15/07/2020 22:02

Had anyone noticed that their Alli seems to be affecting them more as time goes on? I've been taking it for six weeks now. I'm sticking to the lower fat foods and calorie counting, I basically eat the same meals on a two week rotation yet I seem to be losing more fat in the toilet as time goes on!

Not complaining, it's manageable and no 'incidents'! Confusedbut I am noticing a lot more of the orange gloop than I was in the earlier weeks with little to no change in food. It's gone from being sort of a handful of pin head size blobs to four or five big ones about the size of a 50p.

dollypops15 · 15/07/2020 22:53

Me..... I've eaten the same breakfast for 3 weeks. Now these past 2 days that breakfast is making need the oils as we call them at my house

Charlieandthechocolatecake · 17/07/2020 00:33

I'm so happy I've found this thread. I've just been prescribed Xenical.

I was on Alli a few years ago bit I was out of the house a lot Grin

I'm now working from home for the foreseeable future and other than the school run in September, I'll be just a few metres from the loo!

I'm 5'5" and I weigh 15st 7lbs.

My diet consists of chocolate and cheese.

My issue is that I go all day without eating. I usually eat my first meal once the boys are asleep. Any advice for eating regularly throughout the day? I honestly can't stomach food until the evening. I know this is why I'm so fat.

Again, I'm so happy I found this thread!

dollypops15 · 17/07/2020 06:47

I dont know if this helps but when I struggle to eat I have protien shakes. Myprotien.com do fantastic protien shakes.

NomadNoMore · 17/07/2020 11:40

I've just read that you should have a BMI of at least 28 to take them. Why is that?

dollypops15 · 17/07/2020 12:01

They are for people classes as obese

lockdownalli · 17/07/2020 14:37

Yes, I was "obese" when I started taking it and am now "overweight"

Hopefully by the end of August I will be "normal" Grin

Re the amount of orange stuff, no, I have had the opposite. I would say at the start I saw lots of orange globules and now not nearly so much.

@Charlieandthechocolatecake

What time do you go to bed?

Do you drink alcohol?

OP posts:
dollypops15 · 17/07/2020 15:03

I noticed today I had one slice if brown toast that was it the orange stuff resembled if I had eaten a 6 course fatty meal

Startoftheyear2020 · 18/07/2020 00:16

I suspect the fat excreted doesn't always relate to the last meal. I'm still losing weight but not as rapidly. I don't have any advice @Charlieandthechocolatecake just perhaps think that your DC aren't getting great signals from you about healthy eating and you may need to retrain your appetite to eat with them at least once a day. Good luck!

lockdownalli · 19/07/2020 09:24

Hooray! Lost 2 lbs this week so the previous week was some kind of mini plateau.

I may have lost more but am very constipated Blush

Am now 11:6 so that's 21lbs lost overall. I would like to lose another ten pounds ideally and to be in the "normal" weight range.

OP posts:
dollypops15 · 19/07/2020 09:49

Wow that's fantastic. I'm on 14 pounds at the moment. I've stuck there. But I havent been being as strict.

superstar63 · 19/07/2020 11:06

I would agree that I am not seeing any orange oil like i was in the beginning and my diet has not changed, still low carb. I am losing about 1lb a week so just got to KOKO.

I saw some reviews on Alli and apparently they changed the ingredients a good few years ago and people were complaining that they were not working as well.
