Anyone else taking Alli during lockdown?

lockdownalli · 31/05/2020 10:33

So the first eight weeks of lockdown I ate cake and drank Wine

Then I weighed myself and realised I was 12 stone 13 and 5 foot five, putting me in the obese category Blush

I decided to try Alli. The only thing that had put me off it before was the unfortunate side effects if you eat too much fat in a meal. Allegedly there is a risk you can shit your pants.

I figured as I currently leave the house once or twice a week, this would be the IDEAL time to try this particular tool out. I do see it as a tool, rather than some kind of Miracle Cure for Gluttony.

So I started taking it, only with meals that contain fat, and after just one week I am 12 stone 5!!! Bloody delighted.

I haven't had any accidents, but have had to scoot upstairs or out of bed a couple of times as you get far less time between thinking you need to go, and the , erm, event.

Also, apologies if TMI, I am having more frequent BMs and there is sometimes a sort of orange globuley film on the bowl which I believe is the fat.

Is anyone else using lockdown as a reason to try Alli? I couldn't possibly use it in my "normal" life which involves lots of packed commuter trains and long drives.

@Dorkass Honestly I've had no bad side effects at all. I am being conscious not to eat really fatty foods obviously with the calorie counting I'm doing on My Fitness Pal but I'm not counting the grams. You can see it's working because you get an orange (grim!) film in the toilet but other than that I wouldn't know I've taken them.

princesshollysmagicalwand · 19/06/2020 17:52

@lockdownalli Yep it's great. I just wish I could lose half a stone every week GrinI know it won't last at that rate but still it's a good initial boost. Your weigh in is Sunday isn't it?

lockdownalli · 19/06/2020 18:05

Yes, weigh in on Sunday....... Fingers crossed!

Lockdownalli - I am looking forward to hearing your weight loss tomorrow, fingers crossed.

I have been on it for about 10 days or so and did lose last week but then fell off the wagon at the weekend (pizza and wine) whilst still taking Alli and put on 5lbs by Tuesday!

However this week I have incorporated 16/8 plus alli with fatty meals (wouldnt take with salad) for example and have lost all of that and as long as I stick with it this week end hope to be on a downward spiral from now on.

lockdownalli · 21/06/2020 17:04

Hooray! I got under 12 stone so am now 11:13.

No matter what size you are we all know how important that first number is in your head!!

So that's another 2lbs lost. I had a "day off" this week too when I ate some norty things like mashed potato.

I hope everyone else continues to get good results.

@lockdownalli Well done!! I can't wait to lose 3 more pounds to get to my next stone bracket.

I've still not had an gross side effects from the alli. But, tonight I've had a dinner high in fat. Not an unhealthy one and well within my MFP calorie allowance but I had salmon, brown rice and veg in an homemade stir fry type sauce with a tiny (weighed) handful of prawn crackers. Salmon is so high in fat I didn't realise.

So, tomorrow we will see if I suffer for my salmon!

Well done @Dorkass! Feels
Good doesn't it.

I didn't have any adverse effects from my salmon dinner. Good oh.

How many grams of fat are people having at mealtimes roughly?

Allegedly there is a risk you can shit your pants.

I tried these about 10 years ago and followed the instructions. I think it was the second morning and I was brushing my teeth wearing just a nightie and felt something warm on my left leg and looked down to see thick orange liquid running down the back of my leg! I had absolutely no sensation, rumblings, or any warning whatsoever! Needless to say I didn't take any more.

I've since lost 2 stone by low-carbing and calorie-counting

Westfacing · 24/06/2020 17:53

Sorry that should be thin, not thick, orange liquid! Grin

stoptheride · 24/06/2020 18:17

Well.. this is worth a try! Ordered ☺️

princesshollysmagicalwand · 24/06/2020 20:49

Long may this continue!

Lillipops · 24/06/2020 21:56

Whatever you do no matter how poorly you are do not take this with Beachams All in One cold and flu medicine.....you will find that they don't agree with each other! Q iron bru style orange fizzy gravy that you will never wash out and your dignity will be in tatters. Experience from a friend obvsHmm

stoptheride · 26/06/2020 11:05

Tablets have arrived .. I shall keep a log and see if I can shift a few pounds

doughnutcraver · 26/06/2020 11:34

Mine arrived today too.
I weighted this morning at 14 stone 4 and need to get sorted.
I've recently been doing slimming world and lost the motivation I needed.
I'm going to try to be so good

stoptheride · 26/06/2020 13:02

Same as me.. I also do sw but have lost sod all since lockdown and actually gained!! So I'm going to knuckle down and give this a good go. Best of luck, keep us posted on your progress

doughnutcraver · 26/06/2020 15:21

I am actually excited.
I'll weigh every Friday.
I really hope it helps me drop the weight.

Startoftheyear2020 · 26/06/2020 16:40

Oh Lillipops I hope your "friend" has recovered fully from that dreadful episode BlushSmile

Down another 2lbs today to 11:11. My scales also give me a third figure so I am 11:11:0. So close to losing three pounds!!

I did have a bit of an "episode" last night. For reasons I won't bore you with, I took three tablets yesterday (usually only take two as lunch is usually fat free) and also took them within a 7 hour timeframe. This resulted in a minor tummy upset. The sort I used to get on the last day of my period sometimes.

Anyway, all feels normal this morning and overall weight loss is 16 lbs in four weeks.

Well done everyone who is seeing results with this, or any other method. We are going to look fabulous!
