Anyone up for sorting their lard body out? I've peaked with my fatness and I need to sort it. I can no longer hide. Tomorrow will be the day. Are you up for it too?

It’s worth a try isn’t it!? I knew that if I ate anything sugary before bed I couldn’t sleep, I’d be wired all night. So I guess I shouldn’t be that surprised. It’s just the instantaneous change that has surprised me.

UnicornAndSparkles · 09/06/2020 10:14

Can I join please?

5ft 7, current weight 13:4, which makes me the same weight as I was at 6m pregnant 3 yrs ago Sad how has this happened?! Well...I know how. Lockdown snacks, wine, no exercise and not even walking to and from work. But wow my clothes are tight and I'm uncomfortable. Something needs to be done! I need to lose 2 stone to get down to "healthy" range BMI...haven't been there since TTC almost 4 years ago Sad

DollyPartons · 09/06/2020 10:30

I had spaghetti last night and woke twice, @justanotherneighinparadise. Makes me wonder

Right, I could be becoming obsessed and I know I need to weigh weekly now, not daily, but I'm not shifting. On Saturday , Sunday I was 13.13. Back up to 14.1 yesterday, 14 today. Drinking loads to prevent water retention , keeping to low sugar, fat free, low carb. I'm surely not hungry. If this happened in the past I'd usually get a little woosh of weight lost by now. I would just like my hysterectomy and stop smoking weight gain to go so very much.

Trandafire · 09/06/2020 10:51

@DollyPartons have you tried taking your measurements? Or photos? In gym kit or even underwear if you're brave enough (I'd be scared to have them on my phone in case I accidentally sent them to someone). You might be able to see a difference there before you see it on the scales?

DollyPartons · 09/06/2020 11:22

@Tranafire The tape measure is something I haven't done yet and important in motivation terms as I'm wanting a low risk to diabetes. I'll definitely start that today.

Photo wise, I'm not ready yet.I'm having to let my teen have my phone as hers can't get fixed due to covid. Just better not to iyswim .Will remember to do that when my phone will be private again.

Moo678 · 09/06/2020 11:38

@DollyPartons

The book I read advised daily weighing and then comparing your weekly average - maybe you could try this? I’m using an app called happy scale to do mine. I don’t like daily weighing but I’m trying to un-demonise the scales and accept the fluctuations - I still find them demoralising though.

DollyPartons · 09/06/2020 11:57

@Moo678 seeing these fluctuations is really annoying but when you put it like that, it's more like a science then. I'll keep going and try look at it positively.👍

UnicornAndSparkles · 09/06/2020 13:43

I seem to get huge fluctuations over the day; up to 4lb added come the evening! Is this normal?! Are my scales broken?! I do drink a lot of water Confused

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/06/2020 14:40

Team RH also recommends taking a weekly average by weighing daily. I don’t mind either way. I just weigh myself each morning out of habit more than anything.

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/06/2020 14:42

It makes sense that if you eat large fibre rich meals, for example lots of veggies, that there will be more sitting in your intestinal tract and you’ll weigh heavier. That’s why measuring inches or going by how clothes fit is also useful

I just know when I’m losing as my stomach starts to feel sucked in. So I’m rarely surprised by what the scales say. If my hip bones start making an appearance again I know I’m doing okay 🤭

MillieMoodle · 09/06/2020 17:33

@Moo678 I aim to be like the women in the video, they just don't break a sweat!

Managed an hour's walk at lunch time and have got another walk planned for this evening.

I promised myself I wouldn't weigh every day, but I can't seem to help it! Still 12st 4lbs this morning.

UnicornAndSparkles · 09/06/2020 18:49

Gosh I can't remember when I last saw my hip bones Blush !

Going to try calorie counting. MFP. 1460 daily limit which for me means no snacks. Stuck to it today! But today is only day one. Loosely doing a 8/16 thing, but more like 9/15. No more food for me today.

bluebluezoo · 09/06/2020 21:33

As I thought early shift has undone me. At 6am i am cold and tired so my willpower goes. Then I finish at 3 and have the whole evening, and i just want to sit on the sofa and eat because I’m knackered. Sleep is really key for me.

Managed the treadmill for 10k steps but my feet are starting to blister so had to knock it down from 15k.

MillieMoodle · 09/06/2020 22:52

@UnicornAndSparkles me neither, although I'm sure they are there somewhere!

Managed a 15 minute Joe Wicks HIIIT workout this evening and can feel my stomach muscles are still under all the fat somewhere too Grin I will ache tomorrow though.

MillieMoodle · 09/06/2020 22:53

@bluebluezoo my friend is a mental health nurse working nights at the moment, it's a killer. I don't know how you do it, I'd be eating all the time to try to stay awake I think Thanks

Trandafire · 10/06/2020 08:14

Yes sleep deprivation just makes me ravenous. I blame part of my lockdown gains on the fact that DD wasn't sleeping well and I was knackered all the time, and I don't exactly need an incentive to want to stuff my face at the best of times Hmm

I've got my period today and have had zero PMT after months of awfulness. Could be coincidence or could be the drastic reduction in sugar? I'm still eating refined carbs here and there and plenty of fruit, and I still sweeten my porridge with honey, but haven't had any biscuits or chocolate or anything like that for a month (and I don't even miss them!) plus I've stopped taking sugar in tea and coffee. More incentive to stop eating crap if it stops the PMT!

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/06/2020 08:24

It’s proven that sleep deprivation makes us eat more and definitely impacts the kind of foods we choose. No one fancies a salad when they’re exhausted!!

Well last night was night 3 and I slept like a baby again! My DP cant believe it as I’ve slept through the kids getting up in the night and all sorts which I never do!

Straysocks · 13/06/2020 08:48

Comrades, I have fallen! First mistake was dropping MFP, think I need to do this alongside 18:6 to get a loss. Next mistake was staying up til 5am for 3 consecutive night decorating whilst the kids were asleep, bye bye 18:6. Then my youngest sabotaged my strength by having an actual birthday with both chips and cake. Oh, and I'm having surprise periods as a gift from nature. As a result scales have gone from 11st 2 to 11st 5.5. Send help.

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/06/2020 09:54

It’s SO easy to put weight on isn’t it!! That always amazed me. I would stay at one weight for two weeks then directly I thought ‘to fuck with it’ three pounds in overnight! Bam.

Onwards and upwards Straysocks don’t let it make you feel crap. It’s not important enough 👐

I’ve been doing okay. Haven’t been well for a week. Had a really persistent sore throat that just wouldn’t go, got a lot worse and then went. So I was trying so hard not to reach for crap as I normally do when I’m ill.

I’ve adjusted my eating slightly and so far so interesting. I’m eating a lot more low carb veg. Moderate protein. Fair amount of omega three fat. No grains or refined carbs. I’ve extended my eating window to make sure I eat enough. Sleep is still really good. Weight is creeping down. So let’s see what happens.

DollyPartons · 13/06/2020 10:09

Coming on to sympathise end to say stick at it @Straysocks.

My scales are not going down as they used to...yet, i Keep telling myself.

As recommended I found tale measure and will be doing this weekly from now on too. Waist 39.5 inches. I am shocked but in the other hand, goes to show how easy it is to be oblivious; had some one asked I'd have guessed 36 at worst. A new motivator hopefully. First goal to 36.

DollyPartons · 13/06/2020 10:11

measuring tape

Howmanysleepsnow · 13/06/2020 10:33

Can I join? I’d lost 7lb in the last month, ate “normally” yesterday (1900 cal) and put 4lb back on. I’m so dispirited now. Maybe being on here will push me to keep going...
I’d been doing 16:8 couples with 1000-1200 calories a day as I maintain at 1300-1400 and gain at 1500. Any other suggestions welcome!

Straysocks · 13/06/2020 10:33

Thanks @DollyPartons @justanotherneighinparadise Appreciate your support. I think I'm too frightened for the tape measure!

Straysocks · 13/06/2020 11:08

Hi @Howmanysleepsnow welcome. I'm very much on the same type of sliding scale as you!

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/06/2020 11:18

We do most probably take too much notice of what we weigh. If we just went by how we feel and how our clothes fit I think we’d be a lot heavier.

I can clearly remember being around 12 years of age and being friends with a girl who bragged about bring tiny abd 6 stone something. I felt HUGE by comparison. I remember coming home and weighing myself critically for the first time and I was 7 stone something. The self loathing started right there. Crazy!
