Anyone up for sorting their lard body out? I've peaked with my fatness and I need to sort it. I can no longer hide. Tomorrow will be the day. Are you up for it too?

@DollyPartons try not to be deflated. I’ve weighed a few times this weeks & it’s been down & up a few times. I can’t decide whether it’s dodgy scales or just how our bodies work. Yours will probably go down again tomorrow.

Mine back showing 12st 2lb this morning. Pleased if it is. So taking that as the number.

25/5 12st 7lb
1/6 12st 4lb
8/6 12st 2lb

Trandafire · 08/06/2020 08:43

@wizzler yes clothes still fit, just fitting a bit better than before as they were getting tight. I don't seem to vary clothes size a huge amount at very different weights. I think people say a stone equals a dress size but for me it's more like 3! Not sure why Hmm

Trandafire · 08/06/2020 08:45

PS well done on getting out for that walk 💪

Hippofrog · 08/06/2020 08:48

I’ll join you I’ve put 2 lb on but have have started period this morning? And I was crap yesterday had too much Shiraz and a boost bar I will loose it my the end of the week though.

DollyPartons · 08/06/2020 08:48

Thank you @Pippinlily and well done you on your loss! . I know that would be my advice to someone that that's happening to as well- it's that self doubt that can easily come sit on our shoulder, so it's helpful when we back one another. Okay, I'm going to shoo it off and crack on with Monday;

Up my game on water intake;
Plan 3 meals with boiled egg, carrot Barton's at the ready for snacks;
Prepare huge box salad to make up a third of plate

Milicentbystander72 · 08/06/2020 08:57

Sorry I haven't been on the thread this week. It's been a busy one.

Doing 16:8. After feeling so happy at loosing 2lbs last week, this week I've lost another big.....zero 😞.

17.3 lbs.

I've finally started taking HRT so my body is a bit all over the place. I also made a birthday cake for my husband which I have had a slice or two of! All within the eating window though, but I guess the cake is the problem.

I've been on 4 long 10.000 + step walks with my dog though, many hills. I thought it might have helped. I was feeling 'thinner' yesterday so I am a disappointed.

Ah well. Adding in more healthy stuff next week and fingers crossed. I have so bloody much to loose 🙁.

Milicentbystander72 · 08/06/2020 08:58

Sorry forgot to add Well Done to everyone with losses! 👏

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/06/2020 09:21

Well done for the losses and big hugs to those who have stayed the sane and put on.

I knew from around Thursday last week that it would be a stay the same kind of a week and that’s ended up being true. I can always feel when I’m losing and when I’m not as when I’m losing my stomach gets kind of sucked in.

Anyway I was listening to podcasts yesterday about adding in low carb and I’ve decided to go for it as I know sugar and carbs are my nemesis. So from yesterday I extended my eating window so I’m doing 16:8 and I’m avoiding sugar, grains, processed foods blah blah. Let’s see.

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/06/2020 09:51

Just to say to anyone feeling a bit crap today. It’s not a one size fits all kind of thing this losing weight lark. Everybody is metabolically different and for one person a keto diet might be the thing, for someone else a simple calorie deficit might be enough without needing to give any consideration to carbs or sugar. Don’t be afraid to try something else if the plan youve chosen isn’t paying off. It’s not a willpower thing.

Food is a very powerful drug to the body, particularly if insulin is running wild. It’s incredibly difficult to find willpower if you’re constantly craving the next bit. So just be kind to yourself ♥️

DollyPartons · 08/06/2020 10:13

@justanotherneighinparadise that's kind of you to add that, thanks. Can you explain the insulin thing a little please.

Moo678 · 08/06/2020 10:42

Well done on the losses everyone!

@Milicentbystander72 Just hang in there - IF seems to have clicked for me this week - it maybe just needs a little more time.

I like the way @Pippinlily is setting out her weights so decided to do the same:

19th May 12st 9
25th May 12st 8
1st June 12st 8
8th June 12st 5

So 3lb off for me this week although I was 12st 4 yesterday so a bit sad not to get to record that weight.

I'm loving intermittent fasting. I've been extending most of my fasts to 18 hrs over the last week and I'm really not struggling with it at all now. We also ended up having two impromptu barbecues over the weekend. On any other diet I would have been totally stressing about going over calories / points. With IF it was fine as I was in my eating window and actually I didn't stuff myself just ate until I was full and then stopped.

My goal for this week is the same 7 clean 16 hr fasts. No pressure to go longer and I can eat what I want in my window.

Good luck everyone!

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/06/2020 10:53

Fantastic Moo 👏👏👏👏. Brilliant loss.

Dolly it’s becoming the accepted fact that weight gain is a hormonal issue. If you can control the fat building hormone insulin, you will decrease fat in your body and lose weight.

Things that trigger insulin are obviously sugar and refined carbs, but also grazing all day long is a big no for insulin release hence one of the reasons intermittent fasting works well.

Things you can do to reduce insulin would be avoid sugar and refined carbs. Add in a fasting window and try a low carb approach. No grains, limit starches. Don’t worry about good fats as it’s not fat that making fat in the body it’s sugar.

bluebluezoo · 08/06/2020 11:00

that's kind of you to add that, thanks. Can you explain the insulin thing a little please

Insulin and its role in metabolism is very complicated. Many people over- simplify to sugars -> insulin production- > increased insulin increased fat storage.

There’s a whole host of other enzymes that play a role. Insulin will only cause fat storage if cells have an over supply of energy. A healthy body is pretty good at keeping blood sugar stable.

I always say if you want to understand metabolism start with Kreb’s cycle, Grin. Once you’ve got that, you will understand why metabolic cycles can’t really be simplified....

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/06/2020 12:07

My app has just told me I’ve lost 2lb this week!! There’s me feeling a little deflated but I should be pretty pleased. Just goes to show that sticking your stats in an app weekly is very useful!

DollyPartons · 08/06/2020 12:26

Thanks guys, and that's a great feeling isn't it @justanother.Star

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/06/2020 12:28

It is actually! Grin

bluebluezoo · 08/06/2020 13:19

I’m the same as yesterday so 5lb lost this week! Well over the last 2 weeks really as i think last weeks weigh in may have not been reflective.

Got a recipe for sweet potato and cashew nut curry i want to make tonight. Need some curry powder so will walk to the shop later which will be about 2 hrs walk round trip. Don’t think it burns as much as my treadmill walking as it’s a much easier pace- i think it’s only about half the steps. Back on early shift tomorrow which is usually where it all goes to pot...

DollyPartons · 08/06/2020 13:33

2 hrs @bluebluezoo ? ! I though my shop was a stretch at 10 mins

Sunshineeeee · 08/06/2020 14:53

2lbs lost in the last couple weeks. Scales haven't been budging since have felt rather deflated. Finally yesterday it's come off ! 22lbs to go 🥴

Sunshineeeee · 08/06/2020 14:54

Well I've got 30lbs but I'll take it slowly slowly.. that last half a stone can wait

bluebluezoo · 08/06/2020 17:22

Grin @DollyPartons

Yes we have a couple of small local shops within about 10mins. But since lockdown I’ll often walk to the big supermarket which is about 45 mins. It’s all footpaths so a nice enough walk, and it’s not like I can do much else if I have a day off!

MillieMoodle · 08/06/2020 21:49

@Pippinlily they are Salter digital ones that do BMI and body fat calculations as well, although I haven't worked out how to do that yet!

Well done everyone on the losses and well done as well to those who have stayed the same or gained, it's not easy to keep going.

I've lost 1lb over this last week, so down to 12st 4lbs now, which is 6lbs off overall. I'm happy with that for last week as it was TOTM and I usually put weight on. Feeling a bit bloated today as haven't had as much water as I should have done this weekend.

Have started doing my 30 day shred DVD tonight. It's nearly finished me off and my legs have gone all wobbly (and I had to have a rest during the second set of jumping jacks Blush) but hopefully it will make me fitter and help with the weight loss. I'm aiming for at least 2lbs off this week.

Moo678 · 09/06/2020 04:15

@justanotherneighinparadise yay! It’s funny how your mind plays tricks and a week can seem much longer when you’re weighing every day! Good luck with your low carb. I have a new book to read called ‘The science of skinny’ I’ve been assured that reading it will make me give up Diet Coke! Shock

@MillieMoodle maybe I should dig out my 30 day shred video too. Just thinking about the jumping jacks makes me feel out of breath!

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/06/2020 07:57

I have some very intriguing news! I’ve had chronic sleep problems for years. Mainly caused by anxiety and stress after my miscarriages. I have slept like a bloody baby the last two nights since quitting the carbs. What the fuck? It’s crazy. I know it’s anecdotal but my god if the carbs have been contributing to my anxiety and insomnia then that alone is enough to make me quit them forever!!

Moo678 · 09/06/2020 09:44

That’s interesting @justanotherneighinparadise. My husband has been sleeping really badly - I know because of work stress. Wonder if I could get him to quit carbs - he’s a super skinny chocolate addict so I’m not sure he would cope!
