I've hit peak fatness

Anyone up for sorting their lard body out? I've peaked with my fatness and I need to sort it. I can no longer hide. Tomorrow will be the day. Are you up for it too?

I’ve just come on so that will explain the sugar binge earlier 🙄🙄

Some fantastic losses girls. Well done. It’s absolutely brilliant. I really need to try and low carb my food I think. Although I’m trying to keep to 1200 cals and under I really think the carb ratio might be screwing me over. More reading needed I think.

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/06/2020 17:17

The first article I googled said eating protein is key and today I hardly ate any. So this week I must up my protein and lower my carbs and see what happens 👌

bluebluezoo · 05/06/2020 17:37

I read a study recently that looked at intestinal flora and their role in diet etc...

It talked about how early lifestyle can influence the type of bacteria and which foods it helps metabolise. Iirc it depended on genetics a bit, hereditary a bit - as you pick some up from you parents, but also how active you are- the more active the more carb digesting bacteria for example.

Which made sense to me as I have never got on with a high protein diet. I am a carb girl through and through. I can last all day on my morning toast, but I can eat lumps cheese until I vomit and never feel full. I have tried keto and atkins style diets, but i just feel constantly hungry and ill(and put on weight very very quickly)

I’ve gradually slid into vegetarianism as meat makes me feel really bloated and upset stomach.

The study made sense to me as i was an athlete as a child and trained 21-25 hours a week around school. So my body would adapt to carb metabolism.

My dc has a nutritionist and they still say the best diet is the old fashioned 20:20:60 ratio.

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/06/2020 18:22

I definitely don’t get on with keto, I know that. But my body reacts really strongly to sugar and I failed the short glucose tolerance test with my first pregnancy (though passed the long test) so I assume I’m insulin resistant or something.

bluebluezoo · 05/06/2020 19:19

When you say sugar do you mean refined sugar such as glucose and sucrose found in biscuits, cakes, drinks etc?

Or are you including all carbs?

I don’t eat sweet things often. Don’t like cake, chocolate is a very rare occasion, especially since cadbury and green and blacks got mondolez’d.

When I read discussions on keto and high protein diets the differential never seems clear, all carbs are “sugar”.

I eat mainly complex carbs, wholewheat bread, pasta, rice cakes, sweet potato etc. That’s the key difference.

Isn’t insulin resistance effectively type 2 diabetes? If you’re resistant to insulin your cells can’t access the glucose to utilise the energy?

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/06/2020 20:21

I always think of insulin resistance as the precursor to type 2 diabetes. I feel like it’s something I could develop if I’m not careful. So I tend to be careful. When I eat refined carbs I just feel shit. I get palpitations, fatigue and a nasty feeling inside my mouth. My body just reacts badly pretty much immediately. Complex carbs are fine but I think too many and I’m prone to weight gain.

The key for me I suspect is low carb and intermittent fasting.

Moo678 · 06/06/2020 11:27

@bluebluezoo I wouldn’t call myself an athlete but I do cycle to and from work every day (5 miles quite hilly) and I get on well with carbs. I do try to increase protein but like you I can eat and eat and eat cheese and fish and not be full whereas a small bowl of brown pasta keeps me going for ages. I’m also trying hard to move towards a more plant based diet. I love beans and lentils and use these loads in my cooking but I know that they are high carb as well as high protein. I’m definitely a bit of a sugar junkie but I too separate complex carbs and pure sugar. I think I will always have complex carbs as a big part of my diet.

Macca84 · 06/06/2020 12:51

Weighed myself for the first time today since 1st May - 3kg off! Thank you Joe Wicks Grin Just another 8kg to go... 🥺

withadivinebeatlesbaseline · 06/06/2020 14:06

Well done on the progress everyone.
Anyone have any top tips to avoid binging on chocolate?! I managed not to go near the cupboard last night but one night last week I caved and ate a large bar. I have no willpower!!

justanotherneighinparadise · 06/06/2020 15:18

How about the super dark stuff @withadivinebeatlesbaseline. I find I don’t binge on that as it’s too strong.

bluebluezoo · 06/06/2020 18:37

I just don’t have chocolate in the house. If I want some I have to walk to the shop for it, about 3 k there and back Grin

wizzler · 06/06/2020 19:14

I don't buy it either. If I bought it I would scoff the lot

wizzler · 07/06/2020 07:35

Morning everyone. Hoping for a positive result on the scales for us all tomorrow.

MillieMoodle · 07/06/2020 10:04

Well done on the losses everyone, we're all going in the right direction.

I had a bit of an upset yesterday - we got some new digital scales and they are very accurate. It turns out the scales I've been using up to now aren't so accurate and in fact I'm 4lb heavier than I thought I was. So my starting weight was 12st 10lbs (not 12st 6lbs) and now I'm 12st 4lbs (not 12st). A bit disappointing as I was hoping to get to under 12st this week, but it's still 6lbs off in 3 weeks with the official weigh-in tomorrow morning, so I can't be too annoyed.

Moo678 · 07/06/2020 10:30

@MillieMoodle oh that’s rubbish. I can imagine how you feel. The thing is you aren’t any heavier today than you were yesterday and I’m trying to care less about the numbers on the scale and focus more on how clothes fit and how I look. You’ve still had brilliant losses. I’m desperate to get under the 12 stone mark though so I truly feel your pain.

MillieMoodle · 07/06/2020 10:47

Thanks @Moo678, I was really disappointed yesterday but I'm very pleased with 6lbs off overall. Fingers crossed I'll get under 12st in the next couple of weeks! 12st 4lbs is a lot closer to 12st than 12st 10lbs was!

Reported 🙄

bluebluezoo · 07/06/2020 12:23

What’s the betting she’s plugging some MLM? My bet is that aloe 30 day plan “i need six ladies to pay the bargain price of £300 for six weks to trial my new product..

I was 5 lb down this morning. Official weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed i don’t get a repeat of last week. I did say no to takeaway last night, but i’m not keen on chinese so not that hard.

2lb to go for the first half stone.

Only thing that’s bugging me is the state of the house. The time I’m using for exercise is tye time i’d normally do the housework. It’s decending into chaos with 4 of us at home full time, dh and i both working...

wizzler · 07/06/2020 16:11

I need to do another 3000 steps today and it's cold and drizzly. Someone give me a kick up the bum please!

Pippinlily · 07/06/2020 17:14

@MillieMoodle sorry for your frustration. I’ve been thinking I may be in the same boat! I don’t really trust the accuracy of my scales at all & thinking I need to buy some new ones. (They’re old dial scales & this week have had me at 12st3, then 12st2, now 12st4 again 1 day later). I wasn’t expecting a big loss this week but I’m blaming my tools at the moment 😆.

Can I ask which new scales you got, or anyone else has some to recommend?

Trandafire · 07/06/2020 17:45

@wizzler GET YOUR ARSE OUT IN THE DRIZZLE AND DO THOSE STEPS NOW!

That do ya? Grin

Anyone else losing weight from where they don't want? My bra is starting to gape. I'm quite large-chested so they'd need to shrink a bit in proportion but it would be nice if the fat came off other bits first! Hmm

Trandafire · 08/06/2020 08:10

2kg off again this morning. Really wasn't expecting it because I weighed myself on Friday afternoon because I had plans to get pizza with a friend and I'd only lost 200g since the Monday. So I have no idea what happened there! I ate the whole pizza anyway and it was delicious Grin

Weight is dropping off even though I've been careful not to limit too much because of breastfeeding. Just goes to show how badly I was overeating before. Lots of exercise is probably making a difference too, plus no biscuits or snacks.

Very nearly at my first mini-goal which was to go from the 70s into the 60s, and about halfway to target. Hope everyone has good news this morning!

DollyPartons · 08/06/2020 08:22

Just been on scales. Feeling deflated in that I've stayed at 14.1 whereas Saturday morning 13.13
I'm not sure if it's water retention or bloody fat gain.
All I know is that after a hysterectomy last year, it's harder to shift.

Hope all of you have better updates 🤞 If anyone wants to join me in disciplinary week. This will consist of consise planning because clearly my laid back approach is clearly not cutting it!

Oh well then,I'll just have to try harder!

wizzler · 08/06/2020 08:28

2lbs off this morning so that's 5 in total. I'm pleased @Transafire thanks for the kick up the arse. Ddog and I walked in the drizzle and that's probably what made the difference. You've done so well... do your clothes still fit?
