Anyone up for sorting their lard body out? I've peaked with my fatness and I need to sort it. I can no longer hide. Tomorrow will be the day. Are you up for it too?

Well done! Wow, what a difference a week makes. I'm down half a newborn (this is our measuring unit?!) from 11 st 8 to 11 st 4.5. A start. Congratulations to all.

Pinkvici22 · 25/05/2020 08:15

Morning, I’ve only lost 1lb but I’m actually happy with that as I’m sure it’s not water weight etc as I’ve been eating very healthy and exercising for a while (but the scales weren’t moving!)

wizzler · 25/05/2020 08:15

Some brilliant losses .. well done. I've lost 2 lbs which I'm happy with. Doing a lot more walking ( ddog is exhausted) and eating better portion sizes and less snacks so I am confident that I can keep this up.

Pinkvici22 · 25/05/2020 08:15

Some amazing losses on here!!!

justanotherneighinparadise · 25/05/2020 08:27

Another pound lost this morning, I’m honestly over the moon!!!

Congratulations everyone. I’m going back to read your posts now xx

Bumpsadaisie · 25/05/2020 08:29

I like the "newborn" measuring unit! It's a good way to visualise change!

I'm down 3lb or half a small newborn.

Or a third of my own newborn DS, who was an extremely long baby!

TrenchTown · 25/05/2020 08:33

Well I've let the side down and only lost 3/4 lb but to be honest I've been pretty bad all week. I'm going to make a much bigger effort this week as I am beyond fed up with my fatness.

Well done to the losers.

@TrenchTown it's still a loss so well done.

I am down to 12st 3lbs this morning, which is 3lbs down from last week. I'm really pleased with that as the start of the week was awful, I ate so many Jaffa cakes. 16:8 seems to be working for me so far, fingers crossed I can stick with it.

TildaTurnip · 25/05/2020 08:59

@TrenchTown great way to imagine the weight! 3/4 is not terrible if it hasn’t been a smooth week and your doing a sensible diet. Honestly, mine is miserable but that serves me right for letting my weight get so high!

Anotherdayanothernight · 25/05/2020 09:07

Well done everyone! I've lost 3lbs so now down to 12.6, happy with that. Have stuck to a 1200 calories a day diet, 4 days of walking more than 10000 steps and eating between 9am and 6pm. Did sneak in some wine though, not accounted for, oops...

TrenchTown · 25/05/2020 09:10

All you losers have inspired me to get my act together this week!

Hello, I'd like to join as lockdown has not been kind, and there was work to do before then!

I like the newborn measuring unit. Mine was 10lb so I'll aim for one of him first!

TrenchTown · 25/05/2020 09:32

@reefedsail that's a massive newborn 😂

OP posts:
reefedsail · 25/05/2020 09:36

I've just started a page in my diary called Newborn 1. Hopefully DH won't find that- he would be confused. Grin

I've filled my water bottle- must mean business!

TrenchTown · 25/05/2020 09:42

@reefedsail oh yes, if the water bottle is out you are in it 🤣

justanotherneighinparadise · 25/05/2020 10:03

My app just threw me some stats. Apparently I fasted for 164hours last week and lost 4lb!! Honestly didn’t realise it was that much. I’m over the moon Grin

justanotherneighinparadise · 25/05/2020 10:04

Also loving the newborn analogy 🤭. My babies were both 7lb something so a little way to go!

Moo678 · 25/05/2020 10:19

Well done everyone! @TrenchTown a loss is still a Loss - at least the scales are going in the right direction!

I’ve lost a pound which I’m really happy with as I only started on Tuesday and have actually only completed 3 fasts! Majorly derailed by a zoom birthday party and lots of Prosecco on Saturday night!

Goal for next week is 7 clean 16 hr fasts. I think I can do it as have no social events planned! Good luck everyone!

Trandafire · 25/05/2020 10:31

Well done everyone. I like weighing in newborns - I've lost most of my Dd's newborn weight and actually my first mini-goal is losing her current weight at 18 months! I look at her and it seems a massive amount for a mini-goal 🥺

Of course the biggest challenge is us all still being here in 6, 8, 12 weeks time still losing, or maintaining, or at least continuing the healthy lifestyle...

TaighNamGastaOrt · 25/05/2020 10:40

Ooh, some great losses on here, well done!
After a week of careful calorie counting and denying myself the usual snacks, not a bit of difference 😟
I'm still 11st and plump. Help!!
What am I doing wrong? I'm using my fitness Pal which says I should eat 1400 cals which I do, I'm walking or cycling daily, not eating after 7pm, drinking water......
More fruit or veg? Breakfast is weetabix usually, lunch ryvita and fruit. Dinner a smaller portion of whatever we're having (I did come undone with garlic bread).
Ah poop. And I still can't run or do too much until my ankle is better. Still cycling tho.

Onthebrink67 · 25/05/2020 10:47

5 days in on 16:8 and I’m a pound down which is ok if not spectacular. I’m not worrying what I eat in the window as I’m just trying to establish the habit but may review in a couple of weeks.

justanotherneighinparadise · 25/05/2020 11:00

@TaighNamGastaOrt

I just wrote this in another thread but I’ll copy and paste it over here in case it helps.

If you really want to understand can I suggest you research Jason Fung’s work. He has many books but I also listened to an excellent podcast yesterday where he explains why it’s not as simple as calories in versus calories out.

A calorie is not just a calorie. The make up of the calorie is extremely important and how your body reacts to it. It’s also extremely important to allow a long fasting window to keep your metabolic rate high and insulin low.

When you reduce calories without considering insulin your body continues to store energy as fat and slows down the calories burned so your deficit reduces alongside. For example you burn 1700 a day but eat 2000 so you put on weight. You drop down to 1500, your body is still burning at the 2000cal so you lose weight. However iver time your body has released you’re no longer eating an excess so drops your calorie burn down and your deficit is now no longer 500 cals, perhaps more like 100cals so your weight loss slows. To keep the momentum going you have to drop down to maybe 1200 cals, the deficit increases again and you start losing again but over time your body wises up to that and your output decreases again and so on.

Normally by that time you’ve abandoned the diet altogether and are back eating 2000 cals again and piling on the weight and more as your body is riding to increase output again.

The solution? Well you could take up vigorous resistance training. Increase muscle and burn off calories. Muscle mass will keep your metabolism high as those muscles need feeding. OR you can fast. It’ been proven to keep your metabolism high and your fat storing hormone low.

Taught keep going. It could be your monthly cycle or water retention or a host of other things. Keep at it and youll doubtless see a loss next Monday

wizzler · 25/05/2020 11:10

Should say Taigh not taught... sorry!

MaggieTheFrog · 25/05/2020 11:42

Weigh in day for me today. I have lost 1lb which isn't amazing it's still a loss and it was my first week on the 5.2 so I was getting used to it.

Annoyingly its my time of the month this week so am craving chocolate and carbs Confused I figure a little won't hurt especially as lockdown is hard enough.

I'm going to keep going and have signed up to daily Yoga challenges which I can do with my 2 and 4 year old in tow, lots of walking and drinking water.
