I've hit peak fatness

Anyone up for sorting their lard body out? I've peaked with my fatness and I need to sort it. I can no longer hide. Tomorrow will be the day. Are you up for it too?

I did a sneaky weigh in as I was sure I must have put weight on this week and wanted to see what the damage was, but I'm actually 12st 4lbs, so 2lbs off. I am sure that this will not be the case when I weigh in on Monday morning though 🙄 I'm now counting down the minutes until 12pm, when I can eat!

MillieMoodle · 23/05/2020 11:30

@Lordfrontpaw when I did it I chose Sarah Millican - she was very encouraging but I didn't get past week 2 before quitting Blush I blame her!

Lordfrontpaw · 23/05/2020 11:33

She sounds a bit like my grandma did. “Eeeee hinny, ye didnae need that last piece cake did ye? Ye bums as wide as the Tyne (cackle). Did I tell you about my cousin dotty Nora?...”

pleasestoprainingplease · 23/05/2020 21:57

Evening everyone. Some great loses on here! Well done everyone & for those fallen off it's great that you're already getting back on Smile. I've just completed my second run of the same NHS 5k thing someone else mentioned previously. Wow it was so much harder this time!

Jumped on the scales after my shower though and down 4lbs in 3 days. I know it's all water, but it still makes me want to carry on.

Anyone having to avoid anything? My nieces bday was yesterday and we were sent some gorgeous birthday cake and I had to watch everyone else eat it. Oh and there was a really posh loaf of banana bread in the cupboard I had to give away ☹️. Keep telling myself it will be worth it!

wizzler · 24/05/2020 07:16

Morning everyone. Is everyone treating Monday as official weigh in day? I am cautiously optimistic that I will have done 2lbs when I weigh tomorrow.
Haven't used the skipping rope yet ...

Milicentbystander72 · 24/05/2020 09:56

I have a question -

If I'm doing 16:8 and finish eating at 8pm, should I be breaking the fast at 12 midday the next day or 1pm?
I think I may have been doing it wrong?

MillieMoodle · 24/05/2020 10:09

@wizzler I am going to do my official weigh in on Monday mornings but not sure I'll be able to resist a peek mid-week!

@Milicentbystander72 I am eating between 12pm and 8pm which is my 8 hour window. Only started yesterday and so far so good!

@pleasestoprainingplease I haven't avoided anything really, but I only started 16:8 yesterday. I am trying to avoid snacking mindlessly but I had a fairy cake mid-afternoon yesterday as it was my neighbour's birthday and he dropped some off on the doorstep. I think stopping eating after 8pm will be the biggest help as it will stop me grazing on junk all evening.

Feeling pleased with myself this morning as didn't eat after 8pm last night and not eating until 12pm today. I've had a black coffee this morning but am not that hungry. My back went last night, which it hasn't done for ages, so I'm in quite a lot of pain. The drugs I take for it make me feel amazing though Grin

LittleTopic · 24/05/2020 10:55

@wizzler I’m planning on Mondays too. At least that way, I’ll be motivated each week at work to not eat crap all day!

Had a nice surprise yesterday, weighed myself and am dead on 13st instead of the almost 14 I originally thought. So I am a bit closer - still need at least 2st off though!

Going for a long walk in the forest today Smile

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/05/2020 11:19

Tiny loss again this morning so the trend is good 👌

I came off my 20 hour fast at 10.13am and dived into last nights dinner which was chicken fajitas. It was bloody lovely!!! Had some fruit, a little bit of chocolate and a milky coffee and dived straight back into my next 20 hour fast which will be up tomorrow morning.

I’ve been very lightly popping in my food into MFP and I’m definitely under 1200 each day. I’d estimate I’m probably around 1000 cals. My TDEE is 1700.

Straysocks · 24/05/2020 13:04

Great to hear the updates, it is really motivating and I'm strangely proud! A question about IF, can you have tea/coffee during the fasting hours? I have found myself settling into a noon til 6/7pm slot but wouldn't give up the hot drinks, nor the milk in them.

MillieMoodle · 24/05/2020 13:34

@Straysocks I'm only on day 2, but have had black coffee in the mornings and water. I had a Coke Zero and a cup of tea with milk after 8pm last night, but there's no calories in the Coke and even with milk the tea will be much less calories than I usually munch through in the evenings. I am going to try black tea tonight though to see if I can get used to it!

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/05/2020 13:47

I have dirty fasts and it honestly makes no difference for me. Loads of flavoured water and probably five or six cups of tea with skimmed milk.

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/05/2020 13:50

To add the objective of clean fasts is not to trigger insulin release. So I wouldn’t add any sugar or sweetener to drinks but the tea I drink doesn’t seem to impact my weight loss plus it makes me feel more normal and less deprived. From my POV directly I feel deprived and like a martyr the more likelihood there is that I will give up and think ‘to fuck with it’ So I have to kind of play mind games with myself and part of that is not eating ‘diet’ food and allowing myself my cups of tea.

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/05/2020 15:31

While I’ve been cleaning I’ve been listening to podcasts about fasting and particularly Jason Fung who has written Obesity Code, Diabetes Code and s few others. It’s blown my mind once again having reading the book around a year ago.

For anyone who is confused about dieting and why a simple case of calories in and calories out just doesn’t seem to work please go find his podcast to listen to. It’s honestly life changing.

Milicentbystander72 · 24/05/2020 16:39

Thanks for that rec Justanotherneighinparadise. I love a podcast while I'm cooking, pottering around etc. I'll give it a go 👍

helenb706 · 24/05/2020 17:48

Hi all... so I'm really proud I had lots of chocolate and wine last night! Might seem nuts but I planned to do it and thus don't feel like I slipped up. Had a lovely time, but today I'm straight back on it. This is really important as I usually throw in the towel if I go off piste, hence I always fail. A couple of nights ago I felt sick and guilty for nibbling a bit of cheese whilst dh was making pizzas... snacking is my downfall and I would class this as the mindless slipping up that got me into this state. Actually knowing that I am going to sin, but it's ok if I get back to it the next day, is really important if I want to see this through. Does this make any sense?

wizzler · 24/05/2020 19:04

I've had a grim day.. felt really out of sorts and lethargic. Topped it off by reversing off the drive into a parked car.

The only good thing about today is that despite the massive tempatation I have not succumbed to eating rubbish. It was a close run thing though.

Not sure why I'm feeling so fed up.. maybe body has gone into shock at the lack of Jaffa cakes in a week. Maybe I shouldnt have gone cold turkey !

Am going to drag ddog round the woods to clear my head and then have an early night . Hoping for a positive result on the scales tomorrow to re-enthuse me

Good luck to everyone else weighing in tomorrow.

Helenb I think thats a sensible approach... I need to lose a pound or so every week for the forseeable future, and I wouldnt be able to keep that up without some treats every so often

Straysocks · 24/05/2020 19:45

A lot of strength there, @wizzler - coping with adversity without resorting to biscuits. I admire that. @helenb706 excellent psychology, I guess it is pragmatism in the long-game. I thought I'd reverted to type today but having (honestly) uploaded to MFP I haven't gone over calories, which I'm pleased about, but have gone over various categories in nutrition - am I aspiring to be even on every category every day? If so that's a lot more planning than I thought. I'm enjoying eating smaller amounts of my usual diet. The scales will tell me tmrw.

Trandafire · 25/05/2020 05:55

Morning! I'm down 3.4 kg Shock
I have also discovered that the weight/BMI tracking app on my phone plays a really loud fanfare when you enter a lower weight. DD still sleeping so I was annoyed at it but also a bit curious about what it does if you've gained Grin
Even if it's water/aliens as someone said upthread, or maybe hormones last week making me heavier than normal maybe, it's a good motivation to keep going. Brings me almost out of obese and into overweight as well.
Good luck to all Monday scale-steppers!

helenb706 · 25/05/2020 06:28

Trandafire. Huge congrats. When I can get my backside out of bed I will face the scales.

helenb706 · 25/05/2020 06:35

6lbs!

TildaTurnip · 25/05/2020 06:55

Week 1 results: -13 and 1/4 pounds

It’s such a miserable diet though.

MillieMoodle · 25/05/2020 07:17

Well done everyone on the losses! I'll weigh in when I get out of bed. The smallest DC is currently talking at me about Batman and he doesn't stop for a breath.

It's day 3 of 16:8 for me and I'm finding it ok so far. I haven't really felt hungry before 12pm and whilst i have felt peckish after 8pm, black tea and Coke Zero have done the trick.

TrenchTown · 25/05/2020 07:37

I will weigh in a bit when I have a shower.

@TildaTurnip oh my god that is an amazing loss, it's like two newborns! You must be so so happy with that result.

I am down from 78 kg to 77.4kg, or 12st 5 to 12st 2. So something at least!
