16:8 does not feel like another shitty diet!. I managed to lose fat, have more energy and feel positive about life.

Hey,
I want to share my experience, I tried several diets in the past with little luck, I found them boring and I usually ended up caving in, binging on food and ending up back at square one.

However, I finally found the 16:8 fast really worked for me in losing weight.
I enjoy my food and more importantly I enjoy life without having to restrict myself anymore. Life is too short as they say!.

Weight loss can fill like a constant uphill battle, I know that feeling first hand. So, I would like to help where I can, let me know your struggles with the diet or what problems you have?. Happy to give tips or inspiration to others from my experience.

It is the little steps every day that add up to big results over time 😀. Let's all help and support one another!.

@SkeletonSkins That's brilliant, and in only 26 days too! I'm hoping I can do as well as you.

I'm nearly done with my 2nd fast and I almost can't believe how easy it is. The test for me will be when I return to work soon, but even then I think the fasting part is going to be easy. It'll be timing my lunch break that's hard, and managing to eat a proper meal in the time I have.

I've heard our canteen is staying closed so I'll have to get organised about taking a decent cold lunch or something in a food flask. We have a microwave room/kitchen where the queues used to be 10 people deep for each microwave before the coronavirus so I don't fancy the horror of socially-distanced queuing for them now.

I do like to witter on and it's worse when I've had coffee and no food. Blush

I remember once turning up at WW, horrified because I'd reached 9 stone!! Then starving myself silly till 8.5. Years ago this was.
I'm heading for 11 now but have got a grip of the situation and would be delighted to get to 10 stone.
Funny, how we change isn't it.

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/06/2020 12:06

So my app says I’ve had a 2lb loss this week when I thought I’d stayed the same. So there you go lol 🤦🏻‍♀️

SkeletonSkins · 08/06/2020 12:53

Thanks all, only ever been successful at gaining weight in the past so I’m really pleased. Biggest difference I’ve noticed is I’m full much more quickly.

FruitPastillesaregood · 08/06/2020 13:45

This is day two for me. Hunger hasn’t been an issue, but today I feel very cold and weak and feel like I need to eat far more than usual for lunch . Anyone else feel like this?

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 08/06/2020 21:22

@FruitPastillesaregood - I don't get weak but I do get cold. Especially after exercise. I know that's normal but it's like an extreme version.

SallyWD · 08/06/2020 21:38

I don't get weak or cold but am sometimes ravenous when I break my fast and I end up eating a lot. Other days I'm not that hungry at all.

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 08/06/2020 22:01

@skeletonskins that's amazing!

I managed 10:45-6:45 today. I had a yoghurt at 10:45 but didn't eat lunch til near 1:30. I was actually hungry which is a bit of a revelation to me! I usually wake up hungry and reach for a sugary snack whilst making breakfast Blush

Spaghetti bolognese for lunch then lamb burgers (no bun) with roasted veg and some golden rice for tea! An aero mousse for after. I felt hungry around 9ish which is when I'd usually be snacking on chocolate but I've just had water and now going to bed!

MillieMoodle · 08/06/2020 22:15

Well done everyone on the great losses!

I had a hiccup midweek when my new scales told me I am actually heavier than I thought I was. My old scales were apparently 4lbs out. So instead of starting this 3 weeks ago at 12st 6lbs, I was actually 12st 10lbs Blush A bit annoying as I thought I was down to 12st 1lb and was hoping to get to under 12st this week!

Anyway, I was 12st 4lbs at this morning's weigh in, so hopefully I'll get to under 12st in the next couple of weeks.

SkeletonSkins · 08/06/2020 22:36

@LyraSilvertongueBelacqua congrats on making it through the evening! I found after a week or so I was in the new habit and my brain just switched off food in the evening as it’s a ‘no’. I think this alone has probably saved me a ton of calories a week Blush

@MillieMoodle oh god I feel you. I thought I was like 187 but our scales were broken and a bit inaccurate. Got new batteries and it very clearly said 197, I was absolutely gutted. But you’ve still done amazingly and had a great loss!

Mammyloveswine · 09/06/2020 08:08

Day 4 for me, started 12:11 on Friday the. Planned to just have a glass of wine on Friday night but ended up over the weekend drinking 3 bottles of wine and half a bottle of prosseco 😱😱😱😱 so Monday morning weighed in at 13 stone 1 and nearly died!

Anyway had yesterday as a fast day (combining with the 5:2) and drank lots of water. This morning I was 12:12 so feel a lot better! Decided I'm officially off the wine unless out for a meal. It feels good to just think "nah I'm going to have a sober weekend".

I'm going to save my "wine money" and buy a new dress when I've lost a stone!

Mammyloveswine · 09/06/2020 08:15

Oh day 5!! But I probably cheated slightly fri and sat as had drinks past my "close" time. So I'm doing either 2-10 or 1-9 as my eating window!

I feel very focussed and I also feel a lot less bloated.

Official weigh in on Friday. Charged my Apple Watch so going for a a long walk with the toddler in the pushchair this morning then think I'll do a YouTube exercise class tonight once both boys are in bed.

I was in work yesterday and realised I do 7,000 of my daily steps just walking around my classroom so no wonder if piled the weight on in lockdown!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 09/06/2020 08:27

@Mammyloveswine I had the same realisation- without my in-school 19'000 steps (I'm a HOY) any exercise I do is barely scratching the surface!

Mammyloveswine · 09/06/2020 08:35

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa haha love the user name! It's my nursery class' favourite song!

I'm part time and just work mornings so tend to walk home when I pick up the baby to get my full steps in, as well as the gym 3 days a week... 😭😭😭

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 09/06/2020 09:05

Over the last 4 weeks (?) or so I've lost 10 pounds. I love this way of eating. Really enjoying my food, trying to eat healthily but not choosing anything 'slimming' like my old diets which included food I hated!
I feel great and I do think that just having one rule really helps rather than spending loads of energy counting points /syns whatever.

Moo678 · 09/06/2020 09:40

Morning everyone - I was down another pound this morning. I’m working from home today which I almost never do. It’s weird I can feel the sweets and crisps calling to me whereas when I’m at work and could easily buy junk in the hospital shops I’m not really tempted! I’m also missing out on my usual cycle commute (10 mile round trip) so might go out on my bike to prolong my eating window. Better actually get some work done first....

Moo678 · 09/06/2020 09:40

Sorry - prolong my fasting window!

UnicornAndSparkles · 09/06/2020 09:41

Hello, hope you don't mind me joining. Going to give this a try and see if I can easily shift some weight. Desk-based job and being at home 24/7 has meant I haven't been walking as much as I usually do and the weight has piled on over lockdown Sad

My eventual goal is to lose 25lb but I'm going to start with a goal of 0.5 lb a week and see where we get to.

SkeletonSkins · 09/06/2020 10:49

Wow this is a fantastic loss! Well done! I hope I keep losing like you have. I totally agree it’s better for me to have one rule, and also to not be able to negotiate with myself about having extra snacks! A flat no is much better!

I agree it’s so much harder to burn calories WFH. I’ve been going for an hour walk per day but my steps are still so much lower.

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 09/06/2020 12:21

@Mammyloveswine @weknowfrogsgoshalalalala I'm a teacher too! Definitely nowhere as many steps as when I'm in the classroom. I'm trying to do 10:30-6:30 to fit in with morning break once we're back. I think I could do 12-8 though too!

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 09/06/2020 12:22

Great loss @monkeytwentyninetynine

My scales has a foot pad missing so I don't know if they are accurate Hmm

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 09/06/2020 12:26

@lovelymonkeyninetynine I mean! Sorry to the other poster I've tagged. Names aren't coming up to tag on the app so I'm trying to remember them!

BeeFarseer · 09/06/2020 13:32

My step count is abysmal. I took my FitBit off because it was depressing. Both my DC have ASD and the youngest can be too much to handle when we go for walks (meltdowns over being told which way to walk, when it's time to go home, etc). DH and I decided quite early on that daily exercise for all of us was unachievable and we aim for every other day, but it's more like every third day at the moment.

We went for a lovely walk the other day and it felt like we walked a long way. My phone counted the steps and it was only 7000. I used to get 7000 just by walking to work and walking around the office.

I have done three fasts now. I've not been particularly hungry when I've broken the fast, but I was very jittery today. Guessing this should get better as my body gets used to the fasts. I had gestational diabetes and experienced hypos a few times when changing insulin doses and it felt like the start of a hypo. Did anyone else get this?

SkeletonSkins · 09/06/2020 13:56

I haven’t personally @BeeFarseer but that would make sense. I did read something that dizziness can actually be to do with low salt levels so that might be worth having a look at.

Mammyloveswine · 09/06/2020 14:30

Just back from a long walk with the toddler, strapped him in the pushchair and walked to a park so he could have a run around and he fell asleep a bit too! Did 14,000 steps and 650 calories!

Just had veg sticks with a quarter pot of hoummus to break my fast.

So tempted by wine tonight but going to hold off until Friday as I've been feeling so motivated!
