16:8 does not feel like another shitty diet!. I managed to lose fat, have more energy and feel positive about life.

Hey,
I want to share my experience, I tried several diets in the past with little luck, I found them boring and I usually ended up caving in, binging on food and ending up back at square one.

However, I finally found the 16:8 fast really worked for me in losing weight.
I enjoy my food and more importantly I enjoy life without having to restrict myself anymore. Life is too short as they say!.

Weight loss can fill like a constant uphill battle, I know that feeling first hand. So, I would like to help where I can, let me know your struggles with the diet or what problems you have?. Happy to give tips or inspiration to others from my experience.

It is the little steps every day that add up to big results over time 😀. Let's all help and support one another!.

@SkeletonSkins I didn't even think of low salt, thanks.

I've ordered some Bovril to replace my expired jar so that should take care of it.

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 09/06/2020 19:29

Bee- I had that as well at the start. I don't now, I'm finding the fast times much easier.

In general to other posters: another swap I've made is from wine Sad to spirits if- when! I fancy a drink on the weekend. I just want to get down to the next stone bracket which is why I've done this. Plus lockdown and home schooling was certainly fuelling my wine consumption! Other than that no diet foods except loads of veg and some fruit which I've always done tbh, whatever size I've been.

I need a plan for getting exercise back up in lockdown - we were going for daily walks but work is much busier now than it was in the first 6 weeks so it's more like every 3 days now. I wonder if I could manage morning exercise if I'm not eating until 12? Maybe the trick is to look at my work diary and exercise at approx 11 on the days when I can (currently Mon/Tues/Fri and weekends), and try to go for a walk at 4.30ish.

MillieMoodle · 09/06/2020 22:49

@SkeletonSkins well done for carrying on, and for your amazing loss. I think I'd have cried if my scales had been 10lbs out.

I've managed an hour's walk at lunchtime and a Joe Wicks 15 minute HIIT workout this evening. I can definitely feel my muscles have been working. Aiming for a walk every lunchtime and either a Joe Wicks workout or my 30 day shred DVD every evening.

bluefoxmug · 10/06/2020 06:02

cheddar try doing short bursts, like going up and down the stairs whilst the cuppa is brewing.
but also try to schedule in time outside daily. it's not just for the exercise, but also for mental health.

This is what I was doing until I remembered I hate exercise - doing a YouTube exercise workout at like 11 which actually made me less hungry and made it easier to fast. Now I’m doing evening walks for an hour instead.

Another lb off for me woohoo so in 4 weeks I’ve lost 8lb which I’m really pleased with as I’m not calorie counting.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 10/06/2020 08:32

Morning all. I've lost another 3lbs this week which takes me to 9.5 since I started two weeks ago. Obviously it will slow down soon so I'm just going to run with it for now. 😊

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 10/06/2020 09:29

I am so hungry this morning but I don't want to break my fast until 10:30 at the earliest! Doesn't help that it's cold, wet and miserable and I am exhausted. Another hour!

SkeletonSkins · 10/06/2020 10:24

Wow well done Frogs that’s amazing! I’ve actually found my weight loss has sped up so you never know! How much are you hoping to lose?

@LyraSilvertongueBelacqua I’m starving, I have been the past two days and I’m not sure why.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 10/06/2020 10:40

@SkeletonSkins - I've been IF-ing for two weeks but I've actually been dieting for nearly a year. (Started on SW, grew to hate it and switched to calorie counting in Feb) This has included lots of setbacks, like major surgery, so progress has been slow. I want to have lost three stone by the anniversary of my start date - I have 4.5lbs to go!

After that my next goal is for four stone lost by the end of August. At that point I'll make a decision about a final target.

SkeletonSkins · 10/06/2020 10:44

Wow that is incredible, well done! I’m inspired by your commitment, makes me determined to keep going!

FruitPastillesaregood · 10/06/2020 11:04

wow that is amazing!! Well done
To you!

BippityBobbityBoo · 10/06/2020 13:08

Waves hello 👋
I started on Monday, fasting 8-12, and just had a big omelette with lots of veg and some HM coleslaw, I’m stuffed. I think I could have lasted a bit longer so will try that tomorrow.
I’m 40 this year and want to be slim for the first time since I was 13, feeling really determined thanks to you all.
I’m 5 ft 0 and started the week at 11st 1 and was 10st 12 this morning.
I’m also adding in low carbish and 1200cals. Tea is steak and a small jacket potato with lots of veg and Stilton mushrooms, I can’t wait!
I’m also trying to add in a little exercise, short HIIT on a morning (I’m going to try a few) today was the no jump one added upthread, thanks! (harder than it looked!) plus sit-ups which I am trying to increase by one sit up a day and long walks where possible. Also gearing myself up to c25k.
Sorry for essay- I’m excited!

FruitPastillesaregood · 10/06/2020 15:45

I would be really interested to see what everyone is eating during the day .

BippityBobbityBoo · 10/06/2020 20:33

I’ve only just managed to eat my tea due to visitors and other stuff so I’m just over my 8pm deadline, so long as I don’t eat until 12.30 tomorrow does it matter if the pattern isn’t always the same? Finished the day in 1089 calories and managed a good brisk walk too, still feeling positive!

snappycamper · 11/06/2020 07:34

Me too. 2 weeks into this, doing 17:7 absolutely religiously. I haven't lost anything at all, have actually put a bit on. I have been eating whatever I fancy during my 7 hour window (averaging about 1600 cals) but haven't been stuffing my face with chocolate or anything. I have a lot to lose so normally lose quite quickly at the start of a new diet. I'm really confused about why this isn't working for me.

bluefoxmug · 11/06/2020 07:56

lunch is usually a cheese sandwich (1 slice of wholemeal bread) and some tomatoes/cucumbers/salad leaves. often followed by a slice of bread with pbj or chocolate spread.
no snacks but I have a small glass for kefir with a teaspoon of linseed on the afternoon.
dinner meat&2veg kind of stuff but with a lot of veg.

Awe30 · 11/06/2020 07:58

I totally agree with OP, it's so sustainable as a lifestyle choice too. I've lost fat too, i also follow some crossfit exercises and I have to say I look great

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 11/06/2020 09:29

@FruitPastillesaregood - I break my fast with lunch at 12, I have an omelette, or a protein shake if I have weight trained that morning. Teatime is usually about 5pm and I have whatever the family is having. Last night it was burger, chips and onion rings. After that meal I fast through to lunch the next day. I don't snack. I'm pretty strict on myself but Ive found I work better that way.

After SW and calorie counting this last year, and reading lots of the research of Jason Fung and Michael Mosley I'm happy this is something I can do for the rest of my life.

My best friend started fasting last year due to a thyroid issue and the improvements in her health are unreal. My energy levels have improved massively and I also sleep lots better.

SkeletonSkins · 11/06/2020 09:35

My diets pretty bad tbh. I break my fast with either a bowl of cereal or a ham salad wrap and some fruit (normally raspberries, pineapple or grapes) and a packet of low fat crisps. I don’t snack at all in the day.

Tea I have whatever we’d normally have - sometimes it’s an omelette and veg, chicken, sweet potato fries and veg, pasta bake with garlic bread, a roast. And I have a yoghurt for afters every day.

SkeletonSkins · 11/06/2020 09:36

To clarify, a chocolate yoghurt lol

SkeletonSkins · 11/06/2020 09:37

I personally wouldn’t lose on 1600 calories unless I had quite a busy job or I was exercising a lot every day. I’ve been walking an hour a day and that’s definitely helped me as it’s burnt about 2000 calories a week.

bluefoxmug · 11/06/2020 10:38

I swallowed a bug when cycling this morning Confused Envy

no clean fast for me today Grin

iknowimcoming · 11/06/2020 11:01

Eeewww at bug swallowing!

First week done - 3lbs down hurrah! I love this if thing - I've got adhd so the simpler the rules the better, and it doesn't get much simpler than this!

MurrayTheMonk · 11/06/2020 11:05

Hi all, I've started this today. I'm starving but don't want to eat til 12. I've lost a bit of widget during lock down just by eating better and walking more but I've plateauednow so hoping this works!
