16:8 does not feel like another shitty diet!. I managed to lose fat, have more energy and feel positive about life.

Hey,
I want to share my experience, I tried several diets in the past with little luck, I found them boring and I usually ended up caving in, binging on food and ending up back at square one.

However, I finally found the 16:8 fast really worked for me in losing weight.
I enjoy my food and more importantly I enjoy life without having to restrict myself anymore. Life is too short as they say!.

Weight loss can fill like a constant uphill battle, I know that feeling first hand. So, I would like to help where I can, let me know your struggles with the diet or what problems you have?. Happy to give tips or inspiration to others from my experience.

It is the little steps every day that add up to big results over time 😀. Let's all help and support one another!.

Thanks @justanotherneighinparadise and @SkeletonSkins 😊 no diets have ever worked for me before - I've stuck to them for a few days and then given up, but this one requires minimum effort and I haven't found it difficult really (so far).

SkeletonSkins · 02/06/2020 08:54

I’m on my 21st fast today - three weeks! and this is the longest I’ve ever managed to stick to a diet lol.

FoxglovesRosesandPeonies · 02/06/2020 11:29

I’m on day 9 here and I’m amazed. I have lost an inch off my waist and the poochy bit on my tummy has visibly flattened off. My 6 meals a day fitness fanatic husband is so impressed he’s started it himself! Can’t quite believe it’s this easy especially as I’ve been drinking a glass of wine most nights! Thank you OP, you’ve steered me right Flowers

Well, still going here. I'm trying make lower or better carb choices when I eat. Really don't want to commit to proper low carb but I'm definitely choosing better: lentils, brown rice etc rather than white carbs. And loads of veg and protein. Feeling really great.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/06/2020 18:41

Foxgloves that’s fantastic!! I love how my stomach ends up so sucked in eventually!! My hip bones ate slowly becoming evident when I lay down. That’s when I always know losing weight.

Pinkvici22 · 02/06/2020 21:42

Does everyone use an app? I’m on day 15 (lost 3lbs) and have started to use Zero app (as recommended on here), and I also used MFP which is linked to my Garmin watch!! Wondered what apps you are using (if any), and if they help with anything more than accountability?

moveandmove · 02/06/2020 22:14

I'm really not loving this, I'm finding it harder than any diet ever. My window is 12-8, I spend all morning really hungry, I hate getting out of bed with no breakfast or cup of tea to look forward to. I hate green and plain black tea and hate coffee. It's really restrictive having to finish an evening meal by 8pm and having nothing after.
I think I'd rather go back to a 'standard diet' and drink tea and eat an egg for breakfast.
I'm only on day 4 so suppose it might get easier but I can't see it.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/06/2020 22:17

moveandmove a couple of things before you give up. When you are eating is it carb heavy. If so then opt for protein heavy and you’re less likely to be hungry in the morning.

Secondly, I just drink normal tea and coffee with milk (no sugar) and it has no effect on my weight loss.

moveandmove · 02/06/2020 22:36

Thanks for replying. I eat a lot of protein. I'm a powerlifter so know all about eating protein! I eat loads of eggs and protein shakes etc.

moveandmove · 02/06/2020 22:37

I thought drinking tea with milk would break the fast.

SkeletonSkins · 02/06/2020 22:43

Depends what you’re doing it for. The health benefits of fasting, yeah might not get those, but if it’s for weight loss it’ll still work. I drink flavoured fizzy water which is ‘bad’ but I’ve still lost. I’d try that before quitting. Also could you shift your eating window earlier so you’re not hungry for as along in the morning? I’m most hungry when I’m not kept busy so I try and distract myself somehow. I know you mention about it being miserable not eating after 8pm but for me evening snacking is a really bad habit so I need that restriction or I’ll just start snacking. I don’t need more food after my evening meal. Are you eating enough for your evening meal?

All that said, if you hate it, quit. It’s only working for me because I find it tolerable. If I hated it it wouldn’t work as I’d resent it.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/06/2020 22:43

It’s not strictly allowed so it’s called a ‘dirty fast’ but for me it’s the difference between doing it and not doing it. The benefits of doing in outweigh having a small amount of milk, so I drink my tea and coffee with milk and it doesn’t impede my weight loss.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/06/2020 22:45

I’m sitting here in ketosis currently, 12 hours into a 36 hour fast, so I’m getting the fat burning benefits bit sodo not feeling completely deprived.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/06/2020 22:46

*but also

zippityzip · 03/06/2020 06:36

I'm only day 3 and weighed myself. I shouldn't have as Ive lost nothing. Although I have had wine

Going to try 20:4 for the next two days and cut out wine to see if I can shift it!

What's everyone doing to curb hunger? Coffee works to some degree but after a while I get shaky.

bluefoxmug · 03/06/2020 06:44

stockpowder/bovril/marmite in hot water keeps the electrolytes in balance and feels 'substantial'

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 03/06/2020 07:22

Just weighed in at the end of week one and I've lost 6.5lbs! Deliberately didn't sneak a peak at the scales this week as I didn't want to be put off the fasting if I didn't like what I saw, so I'm a bit in shock!

zippityzip · 03/06/2020 07:36

@bluefoxmug Does that break the fast if I had an oxo cube in hot water?

bluefoxmug · 03/06/2020 07:38

not sure if it would be a 'dirty' fast, but a stock cube has between 5 and 10 calories...

Lordamighty · 03/06/2020 07:40

Well done WeKnowFrogs you must be delighted, also it’s a real motivation to keep going. The best results come from doing this long term.

justanotherneighinparadise · 03/06/2020 07:53

Brilliant!!! @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa. That’s an incredible loss!

MissFitton · 03/06/2020 08:27

Well done @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa that's a great loss!

After getting back on it on Monday I've lost 1.5lbs however I've discovered that it depends where I put my scales in my bathroom as to how heavy I am Hmm. So have fixed on one place in the bathroom for my weigh-in but actually have no accurate idea of my weight at all!

SkeletonSkins · 03/06/2020 08:34

Wow what an amazing loss! You must be so pleased with that!

beachdreaming2020 · 03/06/2020 08:51

Well done WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa!

I just weighed myself this morning after the first week - I’ve weighed myself now and again during the week and the scales weren’t literally stuck at my starting weight -but today I’m suddenly down 2kg. I know it will jump back up and fluctuate l but I am delighted it’s finally started to move.

One thing I’ve been very mindful over the past 3 days that I certainly wasn’t at the beginning is drinking more water.

beachdreaming2020 · 03/06/2020 09:04

*scales were literally stuck
