Mini-V waves "Hi"

Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition!
KedsAndTubeSocks · 05/02/2020 06:57

Hi mini-V!
@cricketmum84 stay where you are. Better the devil you know. I'm joking, of course go for B. Why wouldn't you? Will your employers care about leaving you up shit-creek when the permanent lady comes back? What if there's no permanent job when your contract ends, or only a crappy one with a massive commute? Go for it!

cricketmum84 · 05/02/2020 07:13

Thanks for all the input guys. It seems to be an overwhelming preference for B! I need to actually get the job first but my anxious brain is already overthinking. Permanent lady is back in March but on a bit of a phased return with lots of home working and not much involvement in the actual job. I suppose the worst that could happen is she needs to do the job, assistant would need to step up a bit and they may need a temp for some of the admin. Payroll Manager jobs don't come up very often and they could just end my contract at any time!

Anyhoo - waving back at mini V!! I'm so happy everything is going well :)

Hopped on the scales this morning to a shock 3lb loss!! I got on 4 times to make sure!! It was a bit of a shock! So 4lbs off for Feb already :)

Plan for today is:
B - satsumas and apple
L - chickpea tagine and quinoa
D - jerk roasted BNS slices and salad
Snacks - fruit and alpro yoghurt

Hope everyone has a great day! Hopeful for an interview date today so will update later!

Hello mini-V - getting big! Congratulations @cricketmum84 - great loss.

64.5kg this morning. Today’s going to involve lots of yoghurt. I’m hitting the protein to try to avoid crashing
and then sugar-bingeing.

NerrSnerr · 05/02/2020 08:12

Lovely photo of mini V and well done on your loss @cricketmum84. I am 1lb up this morning but that's not a surprise as I have eaten too much in the last 2 days so I'm back being strict again. Going to try and get up for a spinning class tomorrow morning but that may be a bit adventurous. I don't work on Wednesdays so need to avoid the cake at toddler group!

DownUdderer · 05/02/2020 08:17

I’ve had a nice salad with chicken and avocado for dinner. I’ve avoided anything bad today. I’m drinking plenty of water.

Lovely scan Verb!

cricketmum84 · 05/02/2020 08:21

Ooh I think I will need to add some avocado to my salad tonight @DownUdderer! I've started buying it pre chopped and frozen. It's so much easier as it means I'm not tempted to eat the entire thing in one go. Can weigh out a portion equivalent to how many points I have left and I avoid that 30 second window of ripeness lol

Hi, I would like to join. I started on 1 Feb and weighed myself on 2nd. I was 13 stone 4 lb. I am now 13 stone ! I assume a lot of that is water. I always find I give up in the first week or two so am trying to persevere. I need to see results quickly or i lose motivation, so feeling positive so far.
My problem is trying to cook a separate meal for myself and another for the rest of the family. I prefer more vegetarian based meals though do eat meat.
I would love some inspiration for quick and easy low cal meals which don't require hours of prep.
i am tracking calories on MFP , trying to drink lots of water and exercise every day. Any other tips welcome. I need to lose at least another 3 and a half stones. It seems really daunting as I have never in my life been this overweight.
I lost 2 stones twelve years ago by cutting right down on carbs. It fell off and I was never hungry. Being hungry is something I can't tolerate so I need to find a way to avoid that by eating loads of veg and fruit. I can't get into low carbing this time, but am cutting down anyway.
The support on this thread will be really important I think.

cricketmum84 · 05/02/2020 09:48

Welcome @RingofBrightWater :) great loss so far for Feb!

I also cook 2 different meals most nights. I don't eat meat or dairy but DH is a proper carnivore. I do two very similar meals and then let the kids (10 and 15) choose which they would like. We have also just this week given them a night to cook each which is nice!

Some of the things I do are:
A meat chilli and a veggie chilli with all Mexican accompaniments
Chicken curry and chickpea curry
Sweet and sour chicken or salt and pepper veg stir fry
Jerk chicken things or jerk BNS slices
Sausages or veggie sausages, mash and veg
Tomato pasta with blended veggies (that even DH doesn't know about ha!)

I have lost 6st 10lbs now I'm just over a year. I know 3.5 seems daunting but if you break it down into these monthly half stone goals you could be there by August! Which really isn't that far away :)

Morning all. I've seen a small drop on the scales since Monday so it looks as though last week's stall is over. I've been really making an effort with drinking lots of water so I think that's made the difference.
Welcome @RingofBrightWater I'm on Keto which is working very well for me. My tip would be to drink lots of plain cold water as I definitely lose more when I do that. I have a new 2 litre bottle in the fridge door in the morning and aim to drink it all by 6.00pm. I wfh though so I can do that by keeping a full glass on my desk and sip, sip, sip all day.
@cricketmum84 another vote for plan B from here. It's a no brainer. I don't have a plan foodwise for today yet. I'm stuck in a bit of a rut with my steak and pork chops. Might have a chicken stir fry for a change. Have a good day all.

Somesortofzilla · 05/02/2020 10:15

Morning all!

I missed yesterday's check in! All the new people jumping on board hi and welcome!

@JessJonesJumps I hope mini JJJ is feeling better! It must be something in the air DS2 is miserable the last few days, not sick sick but all he wants are cuddles and sleep. Well done on the weight loss!

@Onesmallstep67 I'm sorry about NM, KOKO you're doing amazing!

@DownUdderer don't feel deflated, you got this!

@Vebrithien that's fantastic news! Hi babyV Flowers

@Egghead68 that's hard, good on you for picking up on it! Although no idea what to do about the office choccie Grin

@DandyAF Grin that made me lol

@recklessgran I don't know how you manage such long days! I'm falling asleep by 9!

@cricketmum84 prioritise yourself, who else will! Any decent employer understands that when these opportunities arise you are going to take them. If they react badly, maybe they weren't as good as you thought. Congrats on your weight-loss

I woke up late today and didn't get to weigh in (my brain might also subconsciously be avoiding the scales, it won't be pretty!) so I will weigh in tomorrow

Good luck everyone!

JessJonesJumps · 05/02/2020 10:15

@Vebrithien it actually looks as though mini-V is waving! So cute and such a clear scan.

@cricketmum84 I love the avocado cartoon. There's such a tiny window for eating them. That was a great loss - well done!

I'm 0.6lbs down this morning so I've lost 2.6lbs since the beginning of Feb. Mini-JJJ being ill is rubbish but it seems to be doing wonders for my weight loss. Although I'm hoping they're going back to school tomorrow.

waves @JontyDoggle37 - you know we'll be here when you start to feel better. In the meantime, sending you get well wishes. . .and virtual gin Gin

Onesmallstep67 · 05/02/2020 10:18

15 st 4lbs this morning. Had a more sensible day food wise yesterday although it's feeling like a bit of an effort at the moment. Just want to be able to eat what I fancy but don't want to slip back and put any weight back on. definitely need to see 14 something on the scales. I think that would give me a big boost.
Bright, cold and dry in the Midlands so may do a walk. Have a good one !

Onesmallstep67 · 05/02/2020 10:20

congratulations @cricketmum84 , fantastic loss. Well deserved after all your efforts.
@Vebrithien, lovely to see mini V doing so well

And well done to everyone else, some great efforts and losses

Onesmallstep67 · 05/02/2020 10:22

Thank you for the kind thoughts @Somesortofzilla, I am doing okay. Onwards and downwards.

Tryingtwo · 05/02/2020 10:26

Good morning all, wave to mini-v and glad everything is going well Vebrithien
That's a good loss cricketmum84 I'm happy for you that the scales have finally started to move again.
Hello RingofBrightWater, I agree with recklessgran about the water - the constant trips to the toilet are irritating but worth it.
Weigh in day today - 13st 4lbs, creeping downwards.

Egghead68 · 05/02/2020 11:31

@Onesmallstep67 sorry about the man. Who needs them?

Onesmallstep67 · 05/02/2020 11:45

@Egghead68, thank you. It had been going well but he offered half an explanation about grieving which I do believe but then disappeared and that is the bit that is disconcerting.
upside 2-3 lbs disappeared as well last week as a consequence !Grin

JontyDoggle37 · 05/02/2020 12:24

Morning all, flying visit thanks @JessJonesJumps for the gin!
Scales have moved down today, still higher than last week of Jan, but it’s going in the right direction. Steroids have properly kicked in and I feel so much better it’s amazing - makes me realise how ill I was! Onwards and downwards now 😁

JessJonesJumps · 05/02/2020 12:40

Jonty great news! Thank goodness the steroids worked eventually! Take it easy. You're still recovering Flowers

cricketmum84 · 05/02/2020 13:27

Good news @JontyDoggle37 and @cricketmum84!

Sjanish33 · 05/02/2020 15:43

Just thought I'd jump in again from the anyone want to lose 3 stone thread

I was delighted to see a small loss this morning. I normally weigh-in on a Thursday but I weighed early and I'm still only 5 days into February and just over 1lb down on last week - which I'm happy about -
