First time calorie counting - starting tomorrow. Researching now and planning my shopping list.

Anyone else?

I ended my first day slightly above the 1400 (by one homemade Vanillekipferl - I'll take the rest into the office and let other people eat them).
Breakfast and evening meal will be no problem. It is always the same and low in calories anyway. It's the midday meal that's going to be the problem.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 06/01/2020 20:01

Had to Google that, but they sound delicious!

What do you have for your evening meal? I find lunches hard too but because I'm a SAHM so have to avoid snacking whilst the kids take absolutely for ever to eat their lunches.

Tonight we had turkey Fried rice with leftover Christmas turkey from freezer. It was lovely, and leftovers too. because my children won't eat dinner if it's not fish fingers

Looking forward to more congee tomorrow - might add some extra condiments, will see what I fancy in the morning.

Schoolinfoplease2020 · 06/01/2020 21:01

Finishing at 1236 here, after a 36g wispa from a selection box!

So glad I’m not low carbing. Every day my carbs are wayyyy over.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 06/01/2020 21:42

So today I had 10 cups of tea (so far) and I reckon I would have had more if I weren't thinking about it. Most of them were herbal today but usually that would be 400 Cals in milk alone!

I started drinking more tea to curb the desire to snack (and get caffeine to help with SAHMing two preschoolers) so I'm really gutted I've been increasingly sabotaging myself.

I've had 1500 today including tea. My target is 1200 but I breastfeed so usually give myself another 100, which has usually been fine to maintain loss. I've walked about 7km as well so I'm not too worried about being over.

(Although I try not to eat back all exercise calories because it's so hard to accurately measure calories burned anyway)

WeirdPookah · 07/01/2020 16:06

Feeling hungry! Lunch was some new "Shroomdogs" and they were horrible. So much pepper they were gritty and I couldn't eat. So planned for more cheese in dinner instead....but hungry now!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 07/01/2020 22:47

Oh no, hate it when a new food is disappointing. I made some veggie sausages once. Not worth it at all. Will stick with the lovely turkey and onion sausages from Asda (80 cals each)

PlaymobilPirate · 08/01/2020 07:56

SEVEN lbs down in week 1!

I'm over the moon. Most I ever lost in a week at Slimming World was 3.5 🙈

Me too Playmobil!!!

Well done, it feels great doesn’t it?! What a start for us Grin

HoneysuckIejasmine · 08/01/2020 16:03

7?!?! That's amazing!

Beautyoftheirdreams · 08/01/2020 16:39

Hey can I join? I have a massive amount to lose but aiming for 6stone across the year. I've figured half a stone a month is an achievable goal.

I have 1580 kcals a day according to MFP and I'm also trying to cut out meat (more kcals for other things Grin) so will be trying out new recipes too.

I lost 5 stone many years ago on SW so I know I can do it, just really need to find my dieting mojo

HoneysuckIejasmine · 08/01/2020 23:14

Hi Beauty! Hopefully calorie counting will give you a greater awareness of what's in food and help you create a sustainable way to maintain your weight loss. It has been so much better than SW for me.

Isbutteracarb · 09/01/2020 16:32

Also calorie counting but struggling a bit - keep cracking and eating chocolate! Any tips for staying motivated?

PlaymobilPirate · 09/01/2020 19:16

@Isbutteracarb if you exercise you can earn calories back?

Hattie78 · 09/01/2020 19:25

I'm using mfp as well. I have around 20 lbs to lose. Started on Saturday and am already 2 lbs down so feeling pleased. Have started C25K and trying to work out at home too using YouTube vids to help.

Hattie78 · 09/01/2020 19:29

@Isbutteracarb I have an options hot chocolate when I want chocolate. 39 cals a mug and it lasts longer as well as it's a hot drink so it satisfies the craving.

Isbutteracarb · 09/01/2020 23:09

@Hattie78 good tip thanks! Will try that

@PlaymobilPirate I'm trying to exercise regularly but unfortunately with a long commute + toddler finding the time is tricky! I'm aiming to get to the gym a couple of times a week and walk whenever possible, the problem is when I fall off the wagon I epically fall off it (think massive handfuls of sweets Blush) so I'll have a perfectly good day then binge and end up several hundred calories over!

WeirdPookah · 10/01/2020 13:46

I lost nearly 4lbs this week.. just 100 or so to go... again!!

Skyejuly · 10/01/2020 14:16

Hey :)

So I have about 2stone to lose...I have thyroid issues and take sertraline and both make it hard to lose weight :(

I have set mfp to 1200 because when I had it at 1500 I would end up having 300 extra as snacks!
I have 734 left today for dinner, a cuppa and maybe a biscuit.
I do drink tea but it's about 41 cals so I do cut it right down.
I'm struggling so far...mainly just habit changing!

HotSince82 · 10/01/2020 15:24

Hello, I'm joining you all Smile

I have I estimate between 14 and 20 pounds to lose, I'm 5'8 and very much a size 12 right now. I always felt best at an 8-10 but I was last that size about 2.5 years ago. Now I've just turned thirty seven and don't want my face to cave in so will probably settle for a comfortable size 10 with a loss of about a stone.
I have set MFP to 1560 cals but plan to calorie cycle so some 1200 days and some 1800 days to hopefully offset the boredom and resist an urge to blow my diet.
I won't be weighing myself as I've been a slave to the scales in my youth...I'm going to judge the loss by my clothes and the fact I've stuck to my calorie goals.
MFP says I'll have lost a stone by mid March so fingers crossed.
Good luck to you all, I'm so pleased to see some fantastic losses amongst you already. We can do this Grin

Isbutteracarb · 10/01/2020 15:47

@Skyejuly another one with thyroid issues here, it's a pain isn't it 😖

Couch25k · 10/01/2020 17:20

7lbs!! That's fantastic. I have had to up my calories. It's working out at 1500. I was getting too hungry. I've weighed earlier in the week and I had put on a 1lb!!!! However lunch time today fully clothed I seem to all being well lost.... I'm getting a tad fixed on it all and I just think its natural fluctuations.....

HoneysuckIejasmine · 10/01/2020 20:52

I've got an underactive thyroid too.

Butter I have two preschoolers. If I can't get out the house to exercise I jog on the spot in front of the telly. It uses slightly different muscle groups but is easy to do and means I can still watch what I want after a day of paw patrol, and chat to my husband without concentrating on an exercise dvd or something. I would recommend wearing shoes though. If I don't I sometimes find the tops of my feet get a bit sore the next day.

Skyejuly · 10/01/2020 22:11

Ooh that's a good idea. Will try tomorrow.

Couch.. I get obsessed with the scales :(

madmother1 · 10/01/2020 22:21

2lbs lost this week. I've been so good. I had to sit at a table with lovely cakes last night. I nibbled on carrots and celery. It was torture but I got through it. It's amazing if you weigh your food, how much we're overeating. I'm feeling quite encouraged be the first week. Tracking on MFP is really an eye opener. I have a family buffet tomorrow......

Apolloanddaphne · 11/01/2020 11:00

I lost 2.5lb which is miraculous as I wasn't actually counting calories at all. I did cut down a lot though. The last of our guests leaves tomorrow, DD goes back to work and all my activities start next week so less hanging about the house and more out and about with fewer opportunities for snacking.
