If trying to lose weight?

Mine
Breakfast - "skinny brunch" eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach or weetabix, skimmed milk and berries

Lunch - egg or tuna salad sandwich (no mayo), yoghurt either protein yoghurt or low sugar

Dinner - anything and everything goes, but try and make it under 500 Kcals. Examples would be salmon and brown rice with veg, chicken and mash with veg, Marks "count on us" ready meal curry, chicken and halloumi salad, Spaghetti Bolognaise

Snacks - babybel lights, French fries (crisps), vodka lime & and soda, lots of water and sugar free squash

If knowing you should but not giving a flying falafel?

Breakfast: bacon sandwich

Lunch: cheese toastie

Dinner: Marks and Spencer Lasagne

Snacks - pizza Blush wine, crisps, chocolate and jelly sweets

No wonder I need to lose so much!!

Share yours please

If I ate your skinny menu OP I put weight on.

A good day for me is no breakfast, either homemade veg and lentil soup or salad with tuna or eggs or lean meat, no dressing for lunch. Or even no lunch.

Tea would be something like thai curry/spag bol/shepherds pie. More veg than carbs. Not many carbs (about a fist sized portion). Drinks would be black coffee/water/1 gin and slim.

A bad day would be no breakfast, salad sandwich of some type on wholemeal bread with a bag of quavers for lunch, snack of a biscuit or apple at 4pm, same tea as above with maybe a mousse or penguin sized chocolate biscuit after.

There is probably 500 cals between a good and bad day for me. But more than 2 bad days a week I gain. 2 bad days I maintain. 1 bad day and 6 good I lose 1lb a week. To lose more I need 7 good days plus increase exercise.

Sucks to be 40.

theredjellybean · 31/10/2017 21:09

Frouby... I sympathise

Noofly · 31/10/2017 21:23

buggerthebotox it was really nice, especially the pumpkin scones. I managed to just have one, but DH may or may not have had THREE.

Sodaface Funny you should ask that. DH swears by his protein shakes after his workouts and keeps telling me I should try them. Just last night I told him I’d be having one after my long Saturday cycle to see how it is.

riseandfall · 01/11/2017 08:38

Which protein shakes do posters take after exercise may I ask? I find it really hard to eat after a long run or big session in the gym.

twinkledag · 01/11/2017 08:42

Mine is -

Eggs cooked in olive oil
Chicken with loads of green veg and salad
Halloumi and chorizo with lots of salad
No snacks

When not on a diet - chips with everything!!

thismeansnothing · 01/11/2017 08:44

Breakfast is either porridge with fruit/nuts or something egg based like omelette or poached eggs n bacon and with half a plate of lightly fried peppers, mushrooms, onion, tomato n chilli flakes. YUM

Dinner. Various salads. Tuna, mackerel, chicken.

Tea. Varies but something's I've always made myself. Spag bol n wholewheat spaghetti. Chilli n brown rice. Shawarmas and wholemeal pitta. Veggie Thai green curry n brown rice. Curries. Beef or chicken stews. Turkey burgers. Tagine. Always make sure there's half a plate of veg/salad and about a 1/4 protein n a quater complex carbs.

Snacks. Plenty of water/green tea. Fruit. Plain Almonds/cashews. Oatcakes and ham. Yoghurt. Hummus

Noofly · 01/11/2017 08:45

Looking at the massive container sitting on our kitchen counter, DH uses Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% whey. I have just opened it up and it smells chocolate flavoured. Grin He gets it from Amazon on one of those repeating orders.

50Sometimes · 01/11/2017 11:33

After yesterday's OTT poached egg and fish finger feast Blush, today -

brunch at 11 a.m. 1 x apple, chopped up in natural yoghourt. Absolutely delish I must say. Probably a big feta cheese salad later on.

stevie69 · 01/11/2017 12:20

BREAKFAST

Porridge (30g) with skimmed milk and fruit OR
Scrambled eggs and spinach OR
Cooked chicken x 200g OR
Tinned fish (sardines, mackerel) plus rocket/salad OR
Quorn sausages + spinach

LUNCH

Fish stew/fish curry + salad OR
Chicken breast + salad OR
Chill con carne + salad

DINNER

Protein—fish/chicken/steak/quorn (aiming for around 40g of protein)
Wholemeal pasta/brown rice (50g)—on weight training days only
Vegetables/salad

SNACKS

A couple of pieces of fruit (banana on weight training days, apples, pears etc on non-training days)
Protein shake (on training days)
A cup of hot chocolate (for bed) now and then

When I go out, I relax a little but always choose something moderately sensible. If I hit the crap, then I'll just feel sh*t the following day.

I don't eat sweet stuff (save for the bedtime hot chocolate).

Longs for the days when she could eat what she wanted with no consequences Blush

oldlaundbooth · 01/11/2017 12:27

Seriously op, if you want a freddo just eat the freddo.

Just account for it... Have you used MFP?

HandbagKrabby · 01/11/2017 12:53

Today I’ve had/ will have on a treat day:

B Croissant and tea

L Crab tagliatelle, ice cream

D Gammon, red cabbage and apple, broccoli, baked potato

Mfp has that at about 1650 cals and I’ve been swimming.

kirinm · 01/11/2017 13:00

1500 calorie isn’t ‘top whack’ 🙄. Any calorie deficit will assist weight loss.

My main way of losing weight is reducing carbs, increasing veg and trying to avoid snacking.

Breakfast - spinach, berries & avocado smoothie

Lunch - feta and spinach omelette with a loaf of broccoli

Dinner - salmon, veg and a sort of chickpea salad.

I also exercise most days.

Non healthy day would involve bread, crisps and cheese!

Scabbersley · 01/11/2017 13:38

salmon salad looks good but ditch the bread and butter!

TieGrr · 01/11/2017 13:54

Today's diet:

B. 50g All Bran, coconut milk and a handful of blackberries
L. Homemade vegetable and bean soup
D. BBQ pulled pork from the slow cooker (sauce is homemade), green beans and cauliflower rice

Snacks are a banana, a cereal bar and a packet of crisps. If I can spare the calories, will have a square or two of dark chocolate later.

The crisps wouldn't be a daily thing but if I'm craving something, I do try and work out a way of building it in to stop me feeling deprived.

The diet that got me to the point where I needed to diet:
B. Cappucino with a chocolate and hazelnut croissant
L. Massive doorstep of an egg sandwich with a bar of chocolate
D. Lasagne

Snacks: Crisps, chocolate, biscuits, brownies, cake, sweets... sometimes all on the one day.

riseandfall · 01/11/2017 14:30

Noofly my DH just mentioned that he now buys pretty much the same product as your DH from a company called MyProtein - it is called The Whey and it is almost half the price as it's not branded - well it's all their own brand. He said it is every bit as good Smile.

50Sometimes · 01/11/2017 16:20

I'm loving The diet that got me to the point where I needed to diet

Here's mine:

B. Two (or three) thick slices of toast drooling with marmalade & butter OR large bowl of porridge with milk, seeds and raisins. Bliss.
L. Nice salad - maybe, a yoghourt, some dark chocolate, maybe some nuts, a glass of wine. A bit random. Sometimes no real lunch at all.
D. pasta or a roast or sausages & mash or another "normal" kind of dish, but big portions probably. Followed by a quick rummage in the fridge for something sweet or some other snack.

Now: not actually that different!

B. Had to get rid of the daily marmalade on toast (my nemesis). If porridge, slightly smaller portion. Usually only eat these faves at weekends. Sometimes miss breakfast completely now.

L. Poached egg on toast. My "go to"!

D. Normal - but try not to follow with all the other stuff! More salads. Or low carby type meals. Always try to finish up by 7 p.m. Except when starving, no late snacks.

Have stopped the nuts for the moment - though do like them with berries and greek youghourt.

I try and not buy snacks and stuff like that to keep - they don't keep!

Still have the odd glass of wine - another nemesis I'm afraid.

Still losing weight.

Though slowly.

Noofly · 01/11/2017 16:27

Thanks riseandfall that's useful and I'll pass it on to DH

misslomi · 01/11/2017 17:01

Diet day (Slimming world)

Breakfast - 2 egg omelette with a little low fat cheese & mushrooms cooked in frylight. Plus two pieces of small wholemeal bread & low fat spread. Or swap omelette for scrambled egg/dippy egg.

Lunch - Low fat pesto pasta with chicken & salad or homemade veg & lentil soup or roasted veg with chickpeas & couscous or some kind of spicy chicken with rice & veggies.

Dinner - Curry, spag bol, stir fry, homemade chips, roast dinner, anything really just stay low fat.

Snacks - Babybel lights, fruit & veg, prawns, no fat yoghurt

Don't give a flying falafel day!

Breakfast - Avocado & scrambled egg on sourdough with lots of butter! Maybe add some hash browns Grin

Lunch - Cheese toastie with good bread, huge baguette, chips/fries

Dinner - Pizza is pretty much always my cheat of choice!

Sodaface · 01/11/2017 17:27

I use maxi muscle Lean Protein strawberry flavour. I think whey is for gaining mass and protein is for building and restoring muscle.

Today I’ve had
Coffee
Protein shake & a banana after the gym
Another protein shake/ham/cheese for lunch
Dinner will be chicken fillet with mixed vegetables and a load of water.
Another big coffee around 9.

And repeat tomorrow! V boring.

oldlaundbooth · 01/11/2017 17:32

Ok here's my fantasy days food :

B:Full English, pints of coffee, toast and marmalade

Mid morning muffin and cappuccino

L:Burger, fries, coleslaw, coke

D:Poppadoms, onion bhaji, chicken dupiaza, rice, garlic naan. Red wine. Dark chocolate torte. Espresso.

Lalalanded · 01/11/2017 19:09

I do the ketogenic 'diet' - not a diet as such as I eat enough calories to maintain. Typical days look like:

Breakfast: 2 eggs fried in coconut oil, with 3 rashers of bacon and sautéed spinach - or - scrambled eggs (two whole, two whites) with a dollop of cream and full fat cheese and spinach/anything green in the fridge I can dump in.

Lunch: chicken wings with a blue cheese dip and kale/broccoli - or - fried salmon (skin on) with a substantial green 'salad' with broccoli, chilli, sprouts etc.

Dinner: meat!! A decent sized steak with peppercorn sauce and a ton of green veg (or with blue cheese) - or - pork belly with the same. Also have quite a bit of venison.

Snacks will be either: an apple (carby but fits into my 60g a day), a full fat yoghurt, a green smoothie, chunk of cheese (I do try not to go crazy on cheese, due to some latent sense of pre-keto guilt) or something similar. I also average 1-2 glasses of red wine p/day.

No idea how many calories that is - Keto is the only WOE I've found that keeps me satiated, energised and sane - and means I don't have to calorie count. I'm 5'11" and 9.5 stone. The only thing I've found that makes me put on weight if I stick to the above is the pill - drove myself spare for a month trying to understand what was going wrong!

IheartCaptainHolt · 01/11/2017 19:41

I’m doing SlimmingWorld so this is what I eat now

Breakfast: overnight oats with skyr and frozen fruit or baked oats with skyr and frozen fruit or cooked breakfast of flat mushrooms, spinach, bacon and poached eggs

Lunch: large salad with fish/cheese/chicken/steak or homemade soup (pea and ham, parsnip and apple, chicken and veg)

Tea: hunters chicken with frozen veg or chilli or fajitas or curry with brown rice or egg wraps

I try and only eat carbs once a day for most of the week.

None diet day would be

Breakfast: bacon and fried egg sandwiches

Lunch: pate, white baguette and loads and loads of butter

Tea: pizza, lasagna, pasta, Chinese or Indian takeaway

Snacks: crisps, sweets, chocolates
