If trying to lose weight?

Mine
Breakfast - "skinny brunch" eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach or weetabix, skimmed milk and berries

Lunch - egg or tuna salad sandwich (no mayo), yoghurt either protein yoghurt or low sugar

Dinner - anything and everything goes, but try and make it under 500 Kcals. Examples would be salmon and brown rice with veg, chicken and mash with veg, Marks "count on us" ready meal curry, chicken and halloumi salad, Spaghetti Bolognaise

Snacks - babybel lights, French fries (crisps), vodka lime & and soda, lots of water and sugar free squash

If knowing you should but not giving a flying falafel?

Breakfast: bacon sandwich

Lunch: cheese toastie

Dinner: Marks and Spencer Lasagne

Snacks - pizza Blush wine, crisps, chocolate and jelly sweets

No wonder I need to lose so much!!

Share yours please

Yeah I like it as a hot drink instead of tea in the evening! Weird I know Blush but I used to love Bovril too and I like marmite

theredjellybean · 30/10/2017 17:48

Definitely not being competitive and I don't fast by choice.
I eat when I am hungry and I eat mostly plant based meals with lean protein which makes me full and really that's all I need.
The op at a rough calculation is eating 1200 calories a day pre snacks... Add in two babybel and a vodka and your 1500. That's top whack if you want to lose weight.
Honestly I am not stealth boasting or lecturing but it's not rocket science... We need a lot less than we think

danTDM · 30/10/2017 17:48

Sounds like a lot of food to me id trying to lose weight.

Why snacks?

Sarahh2014 · 30/10/2017 17:52

When dieting
1200 calories a day
2 rich tea fingers for breakfast
Packet space raiders 58 calories
Light babybel
400 calories ready meal
30g cornflakes in evening
Melba toast and light philidelpia

Sarahh2014 · 30/10/2017 17:53

When not dieting bloody everything! Blush

Fresta · 30/10/2017 17:53

I don't think sounds over the top OP, I would lose weight on that as long as I was careful not to add in too many snacks.

Jellybean, I would doubtful your'e getting all the nutrients you need on your diet.

Drinking bouillon sounds beyond vile, I thought cup-a-soup was bad enough! Smile

adventuresinbabysitting · 30/10/2017 17:55

Well it all depends on your starting weight - some can afford to eat more than others to lose at a steady rate of 1-2lbs a week...

I was more curious what people eat, not looking for a critical analysis of my diet, but it's all relative so I don't mind! Wink

Ollivander84 · 30/10/2017 17:55

Grin I just crave salt sometimes so it helps with that. Also good if I'm at the stables and it's cold
Don't get me wrong, I have the odd pizza/cake etc but I always do my fast hours and I rarely go over 1400 cals. Am 5ft 10, lost 2st 6 and got 1st 4 to go

adventuresinbabysitting · 30/10/2017 17:56

Oh and I have the snacks because I love eating Grin

Am about 6 stone down, 2 to go.

stitchglitched · 30/10/2017 18:14

I drink a beef oxo cube quite a lot in the evening, it's tasty and stops me reaching for carbs!

KnitFastDieWarm · 30/10/2017 18:18

Healthy
Breakfast is overnight oats or lean meat no oil fry up plus coffee
Lunch is lean protein, eggs, or pasta and veg
Dinner is similar to lunch Grin
Two freddo frogs a day, loads of water, a slimline g&t and about 3-4 miles brisk walking
Steadily losing weight this way and don't feel deprived

Unhealthy
Holy mother of Moses, all the pizza and wine and cheese Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 30/10/2017 18:54

Ollivander so you never eat after 5pm? Don’t you ever go out for dinner? Or socialise after 5pm?

Sorry to quiz you.** I’m not trying to be critical I’m just nosy curious Grin

ThisMeans · 30/10/2017 18:54

Cup tea.
2 rice cakes.
3 tiny pieces toast and marmite
Small tin mandarins.

theredjellybean · 30/10/2017 19:59

It's all very individual what your body needs, what your reasons for eating are, what weight you feel comfortable at eyc....

Best thing about this thread...

My new fave saying... 'I don't give a flying falafel'

Miniwerewolfhugs · 30/10/2017 20:31

I agree we all need different amounts and have a different tolerance for carbs. I do feel a lot better if I keep carbs down and lose those sweet cravings but I still love the dgaff foods too. I have my birthday all planned out as a day off plan.
B.Choc brownie and hot Choc (at cocoa loco cafe)
L.Cheese and chutney sandwich with a nice bread
T. Birthday cake
D.Takeaway probably Chinese
Mince pie and birthday Chocs

hopsalong · 30/10/2017 22:50

When I was trying to lose weight:

Greek yogurt, berries
Some sort of low calorie salad or mayo-less chicken sandwich
Coffee coffee coffee
Fish or chicken and more endless salad
Wine / little bit dark chocolate

It never worked and I never lost any weight. Now I am old and a mum and not trying to lose weight (I was never overweight, just wanted to be thinner) I eat vastly more and actually am a bit thinner (BMI of about 19 instead of in 20s.) This was today.

Coffee protein drink
All bran with full fat milk and raisins, banana, tea
Toasted cheese/ egg wrap thing from Pret plus carrot juice plus pot green beans/ avocado
Packet iced gems and a rich tea biscuit, more tea
Bits of pasta and broccoli and cheese from toddler’s dinner, handful cashew nuts
Can of Lilt
Salmon en croute (Charlie Bigham), spinach, sweet potatoe purée (uneaten by baby), a beer
Half glass red wine, chocolate buttons (large number!)

WildBluebelles · 31/10/2017 06:46

Honestly I am not stealth boasting or lecturing but it's not rocket science... We need a lot less than we think

No, YOU might need less than you think. It's not a universal truth. Your diet is unhealthily low in calories (800-1000), bordering on dangerous with the level of exercise you say you are doing. You say you sometimes think 'screw it' and have pizza and it's probably the pizza binges that keep your weight steady. Your metabolism might also be shot to bits from prolonged dieting and will just get worse.

I and many others have lost weight eating around 1800 calories of healthy and nutrient dense food and doing exercise. To say that 1290 calories is 'top whack' for weight loss is ludicrous- it's very very low and the OP could easily eat more (just better) food and get to a healthy weight. I hope nobody listens to your advice.

RavingRoo · 31/10/2017 06:52

I have what has now been diagnosed as sevdre pcos (previously minor) and am losing weight nicely on 1800 calories a day. You can eat more if you’re actively moving.
