If trying to lose weight?

Mine
Breakfast - "skinny brunch" eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach or weetabix, skimmed milk and berries

Lunch - egg or tuna salad sandwich (no mayo), yoghurt either protein yoghurt or low sugar

Dinner - anything and everything goes, but try and make it under 500 Kcals. Examples would be salmon and brown rice with veg, chicken and mash with veg, Marks "count on us" ready meal curry, chicken and halloumi salad, Spaghetti Bolognaise

Snacks - babybel lights, French fries (crisps), vodka lime & and soda, lots of water and sugar free squash

If knowing you should but not giving a flying falafel?

Breakfast: bacon sandwich

Lunch: cheese toastie

Dinner: Marks and Spencer Lasagne

Snacks - pizza Blush wine, crisps, chocolate and jelly sweets

No wonder I need to lose so much!!

Share yours please

Definitely, RavingRoo and it makes it so much easier to maintain when you have lost the weight. Someone doing a 1200 calorie diet plus exercise will not last long on that diet and will fall into the 95% of people who regain all the weight that they lose.

AgainPlease · 31/10/2017 07:06

OP your diet is absolutely fine! I would never eat so healthy! I really don’t understand the posters on here who are starving themselves and saying “that’s how I stay a size 10-12”. AS IF! Definitely some secret eating going in. If you fasted and only ate 800-1000cal a day you’d be a size 6.

Here’s what I ate yesterday and I’ve been a size 8-10 all my life:

B: half a pain au chocolate
L: coronation chicken sandwich
D: 2x raspberry jam donuts
Snacks: chocolate digestive thins biscuits (prob half a pack worth)

Bear in mind I’m 31 weeks pregnant...

Your doing great with your healthy diet, loads of veg and stuff which I don’t touch. Go you 💪🏼!!

Artus · 31/10/2017 07:50

I've just put buggerthebotox's food into my fitness pal and it comes in at about 942 calories, which minus 300 calories of exercise is 650 calories a day. So either some very calorific latte's or the tiny slices of toast are not so tiny. I don't think that 942 (650) calories is healthy long term.

GrumpyOldBag · 31/10/2017 08:33

A lot of you don't seem to be eating enough vegetables (or fruit).

You know you need 5 a day to stay healthy, right?

Ollivander84 · 31/10/2017 08:50

I try and stick to 1-2 portions of fruit. Then have cucumber sticks and mixed veg or roasted kale. Shift work makes it harder but I do take a fruit and veg multi vit plus a superfood greens powder. Also omega 3 and turmeric capsules

buggerthebotox · 31/10/2017 09:41

artus I take sugar in tea and coffee so I count 40/50 cals for those.

The small portion of chilli I counted 400 for. The individual trifle was 180.

The toast comprised bread at 55 (Kingsmill No Crusts) plus butter and Marmite. I count say 80 a slice all in.

The rice cakes are 60 each (chocolatey ones from Tesco).

I also tend to round up a bit to account for the odd nibble and overeoverestimation of exercise.

On that basis my "net" calories work out at around 900 per day average.

My calorie needs are 1400 a day based on my age and activity level. I'm 58 and it's soooo much harder.

Hence: 1400 cals minus net cals of 900 equals a daily deficit of 500 call which is about right to lose 1lb a week.

I don't weigh, but go by clothing and "feel".

My diet could be much improved though.

fishonabicycle · 31/10/2017 11:08

So many of you eat so little. It makes me feel really sad.

givemushypeasachance · 31/10/2017 11:50

Yesterday I had half a tin of baked beans for breakfast, some homemade bean chilli and veg for lunch and went out for dinner before the theatre having pie & mash with a friend. The pie isn't super diet friendly but was damn tasty! Along the way snacked on carrot sticks, apples and a little box of Smarties. Today I had sugar free jelly for breakfast, I'll be having more bean chilli and veg for lunch, not entirely sure what I'm having for dinner. Probably something omelette and veg based. More carrots sticks, fruit and a pack of mini cheddars as snacks. Over the weekend several meals were salads. Tomorrow I'll be visiting a friend for dinner and we'll have cake for dessert. I don't worry too much about individual days but look at my diet over the week, and I go the the gym every day. It works for me, I've gone down from 240lbs in May to 195lbs now and still losing.

larrygengurch · 31/10/2017 11:51

Today I'll have:

B: full fat natural yoghurt with nuts, seeds and raspberries
L: pumpkin and bean one pot
D: smoked salmon salad with cream cheese

I try not to snack, but it would be a handful of salted nuts or some fruit/veg.

I've lost 2st 9lb since mid-June by upping exercise and limiting carbs.

FoofFighter · 31/10/2017 12:08

Today:
Two weetabix and skimmed milk
Banana
Hm veg soup with a whole meal pitta
Hm Pumpkin and bacon risotto

adventuresinbabysitting · 31/10/2017 12:41

I need foodie drools

RavingRoo · 31/10/2017 17:31

Breakfast: 10g Almonds, Skyr Vanilla, actimel, banana

Lunch: carefully weight veg salad

Snacks: popchips, 1 apple, 2 skinny caps

Eaten 1300 so far. Have walked 5 miles on my lunch hour (it’s a very fast out of breath walk, faster than a jog) so burned approx 200 cals.

Dinner will be vegan stew with 10g almonds. So total consumed today will be 1700 or 1800 if I fancy something extra.

Noofly · 31/10/2017 17:36

I think I eat a fair amount and have lost 3s over the past 10 months (am 49, 5’ 4” and weigh 9.5s). For breakfast I have 40g of porridge made with 220ml semi skimmed milk plus 15g of walnuts and either loads of blueberries or a banana. I have, however, just discover the Peanut Butter Me Up granola by Breakfast by Bella and it may be the most wonderful breakfast food ever- I’m planning on having it twice a week to give myself a break from porridge.

For lunch I have a giant salad with 1T salad dressing plus either a packet of chicken breast or salmon fillet or packet of prawns.

For dinner I have whatever I want but watch my portion size. Tonight we are having Cajun tuna steaks with mango salsa and savoury pumpkin muffins.

I sometimes snack, either more nuts or Graze or a (home baked) cookie. I don’t really drink alcohol or caffeine. I stick to water or herbal tea.

I do a fair amount of exercise- currently cycle 70 miles per week and lift weights at the gym twice a week.

I couldn’t survive on a super low calorie diet. I’ve been consistently losing weight on the above. I want to lose another 1/2 stone and then I’ll play about with how much I can add before gaining weight.

Noofly · 31/10/2017 18:02

And because I’m bored, here’s a photo of my dinner which will give an idea of my portion sizes. Grin

buggerthebotox · 31/10/2017 19:14

noo that looks very appetizing indeed......

Sodaface · 31/10/2017 19:46

Noo are you taking protein shakes? I’ve just started taking them & they are great, way better than I expected. They really fill me up after my work outs.

feudebois · 31/10/2017 19:50

I would gain weight if I ate the OPS diet menu Shock

feudebois · 31/10/2017 19:56

I'm amazed that people are trying to lose weight but getting stuck into the freddos and trifle and crisps Shock

Miniwerewolfhugs · 31/10/2017 19:58

Whats your daily menu feudebois?

feudebois · 31/10/2017 20:02

Today :
Breakfast : coffee with cream, sometimes scrambled eggs
Lunch tuna mayo salad
Dinner leftover roast chicken, cauliflower cheese, broccoli. Greek yogurt with raspberries

I don't drink, avoid sugar and carbs. I haven't eaten crisps for years.

Boring aren't I Smile I'm also a size 10 and 52. Everything slows down after 50

Miniwerewolfhugs · 31/10/2017 20:20

My diet is quite similar to yours Feudebois but I expect to lose around 2lb a week if I stick to it. If you have to eat that to maintain it is pretty hard.

feudebois · 31/10/2017 20:25

I do occasionally eat lots more if I go away for the weekend which I have to do for work quite often. But yes, this is how I maintain. Once I was late 40s I started to gain weight very easily Sad

50Sometimes · 31/10/2017 20:28

Breakfast - nothing

Lunch - 2 slices of toast with 4 poaches eggs. 1/3 tub yoghourt ice cream. (total - approx 700 calories?)

Dinner - 3 large fried fish fingers with mushy peas and vinegar. 1/3 tub yoghourt ice cream (total - approx 800 calories)?

2 small glasses of wine. (150 cals)

Um, not sure of diet day or not Confused. Probably not Blush. I was hungry though.

50Sometimes · 31/10/2017 20:29

Yes feude. I had home-made Cornish pasties at the weekend. I put on 2 pounds.

adventuresinbabysitting · 31/10/2017 20:40

Last minute change of plan for me and had salmon salad with asparagus for dinner.

A Freddo has less calories than a banana, it really won't harm my weight loss to be honest! But as I said I have loads to lose! Smile
