Not Them extra holiday lbs will fall off once back on track!
Bath hope you feel better soon!
A good start to the week ending the day on 1230 cals. But, I do feel really down about myself. Just hopped in the shower and looked at my body and it made me feel shit, I just think I look a flabby wide mess. I can tell a difference from when I started, but I just don't like looking at myself. Its my hips I hate Sad Also, even though I weigh in on Fri at similar times every week, and lose a lb on average when I do it, through the week, most days I hit the 11st 7 mark. Its confuses me!
Sorry for the moan. Hope everyone is doing well.

Bathsheba3 · 17/07/2017 20:45

Moan away caggie, moan away. It's not being able to have an outlet for the moaning which can lead us back to the source-of-doom. How much have you lost ? I'm 11 7ish (prob + at least 5 lbs after binge-fest!). I don't like my body either, but it is looking a darn sight better after cranking-up the fitness & training. Everything getting more toned. Thighs and legs are what I hate, compounded by being so white. Never ever tan beyond milk-white.

I'm sure you are doing far better than you are giving yourself credit for. Bath, PJ's, cuppa , and early night?

Bathsheba3 · 17/07/2017 20:47

Welcome User455. The more the merrier. I'm still trying to shift last stone of baby weight - 12.5 years on !!!!!! Hmm, in truth, it's been off, then on again a good few times. But best to get a grip on it when it's +2 stone, and not +3 or +4. So great you are here.

buggerthebotox · 18/07/2017 12:51

Can someone help me with calculating a deficit please? I'm feeling a bit thick...

My bmr is 1400ish. My mfp target is 1200. My net cals per day is around 900 (ie 1200 minus exercise cals expended). How do I work out my daily deficit? Is it bmr minus net calories? Confused

Bathsheba3 · 18/07/2017 13:33

no idea bugger. not is the guru of everything. She'll do the calcs once she's back from hols.

Good training session today. Green soup for lunch. Final 10-day push before I need to bare all in a swimsuit. Not so worried about the actual weight now thankfully. I just want to loose the layer of sugar-bloat that has engulfed me.

sweetbitter · 18/07/2017 14:32

Bugger - I used www.thedietdiary.com/diet/nutrition/Resting energy.html to calculate how many calories I expend in a day at a "very light" activity level with no additional workouts/exercise, then work it out from there. So you'd ideally have a 500 calorie deficit from that figure each day, either from eating less or exercising more or a combination of both.

sweetbitter · 18/07/2017 14:33

Oops link fail:

www.thedietdiary.com/diet/nutrition/RestingEnergy.html

sweetbitter · 18/07/2017 14:36

...and the figure I used to calculate from (ie deduct 500 from) is the "probable caloric requirement in cal/day"

buggerthebotox · 18/07/2017 14:39

Cheers sweet.

caggie09 · 18/07/2017 17:48

Bath After that whinge i felt better, i looked at my progress pics and felt happier. It was needed! I just need to remember why im doing this.
Today has been good again, currently at work eating chicken salaldGrin finishing the day on 1,124 cal. Did nearly demolish a pack of sweets before work but i held back!

Bathsheba3 · 18/07/2017 20:10

good to hear caggie

Not2bObvious · 19/07/2017 12:48

Home and back to the grind, well technically I'm on a day off but doing eleventy million loads of washing. Ooh thank you bath, me a guru (preens)
sweet you're spot on with your advice to calculate the tdee. bugger basically eat 500 less than you burn or max 850. So don't be tempted if you're burning 2500, eat no less than 1650. If you're tiny you may be seeing that 1200 is the number, but the aim to walk more every day to bring your tdee up.
Seriously trust me on this, I see it time and again using 1200 and then undoing all the good work by bingeing because they're burning loads and effectively starving themselves. It's miserable and counterproductive. You have to learn to eat in a way you can live with, has to be sustainable. And to accept that 1-2lb a week is a good loss, fecking great in fact.
Anyway lecture over, the tale from my scale is 5.2lb up which is as expected. So I am going to work on being en pointe for the next few days. Water, water, water, decent food (as I mentioned before I do the Team RH plan so I have a specific carbs/protein/fat macros I aim to hit) and get some exercise in. Miserable and raining here so that's a harder but I'll figure something

buggerthebotox · 19/07/2017 17:43

Nice to have you backnot. I'm finding working out a deficit quite tricky.

Today I haven't eaten at all-I forgotGrin

Haven't done that for a while!

Not2bObvious · 20/07/2017 13:44

I bought myself a Fitbit charge 2, I needed to get an accurate view of what I was burning. I have to say I love it, find it really helpful. I'm down 2lb so my holiday gain is reduced to 3.2lb - although sadly I was up a pound on my preholiday WI so I'm 4.8 over my lowest weight this time😔 But that's with a weekend away before the holidays and 11 nights of free for all. All things considered, it's ok. Went for a run yesterday and going for another one today before an intervals class at the gym.
How's everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
caggie09 · 20/07/2017 14:22

Im out for the day, thought i would of struggled food wise but ive done well! Sat and ate salad while everyone else at burger and chipsGrin Hope the walking around all day helps too! I was actually thinking about getting a fitbit, feel like it would be one of those things i buy and use for a while the novelty will go off?
Not Good for you getting straight back on it, and doing loads of exercise! Your motivation will pay off and you'll get that extra off in no time!

Not2bObvious · 20/07/2017 14:28

Well done on your day out - that's the way to do it, focus on the day/company not the food side of things. I have to say I'm thoroughly addicted to my Fitbit, I had the one that just measured steps but it did nothing compared to this beauty! I swear, I'm a slave to it😂

OP posts:
caggie09 · 20/07/2017 18:22

Well id like to say my good choices lasted all day, but it didnt! I ended up getting a baguette and chips and then finish of with some caramel galaxy. Blush
Oh what does the one you have do? I seen some passing through Debenhams and they did look really nice! I dont think my phones that accurate with tracking steps and if i see im under for the day it doesnt really motivate me to get out ans get some steps in!

caggie09 · 20/07/2017 18:26

Not that accurate**

Not2bObvious · 20/07/2017 19:40

I have the charge 2, the Alta hr wasn't out when I got it - the Alta looks better. Has to be one with the HR monitor. Oh well never mind, it's just one day and you've been super good.
Gym done - hard as hell carrying the holiday pounds😩 Signed up for a new program starting next week, excited and scared all at once

Happy Friday all! Danger day, the gateway to gluttony & excess, are we ready? Another .4 down this morning so I'm now 2.8 over preholiday weight in, 3.8 over lightest weight (when I say lightest weight I do mean since I started this particular plan...around 9lb over lightest weight this century - yes century!)
So how's everyone getting on? Any plan put in place to keep on track over the weekend? I'm babysitting tonight and that means no 🍷, it's in the house of many treats so I bought myself a fulfil bar which will do me nicely. Just have to keep my nose out of the fridge/cupboards at all other times! I'm going to try make it to the gym this morning but that's not definite. Tomorrow I have company for dinner so there will be some 🍷but I'll be aiming for a measured amount. Sunday is free, would like to go for a drive and a walk somewhere pretty if weather permits.

OP posts:
sweetbitter · 21/07/2017 07:52

Hehe, gateway to gluttony is a very apt way to describe Fridays.

Aim for today is to not go over calories, but I know I'll be right up to the line. Have planned out my meals and it's looking good, the danger is in alcohol and desserts! Going to run 5k later though so that will help a bit.

Got guests coming this weekend (again) so Sat & Sun are going to be harder to control as I think we'll end up eating out a lot.

I've been seeing the following pattern in my weight loss (I weigh in every morning except Sunday):

  • Mon-Fri: even though I'm generally eating well under my calories , my weight creeps up slightly by 0.1 or 0.2 kg every day
  • Sat: Sudden massive drop of 1kg or more
  • Sun: don't weigh as usually Saturday has been v indulgent

-Mon-Fri: repeat as above.

It means that my weight is coming down overall but it's in a v weird and kind of annoying way! Let's see if tomorrow does indeed bring the traditional big drop...

Not2bObvious · 21/07/2017 09:12

Are you consistently drinking plenty of water sweet, eating enough fibre? Are things in the, ahem excuse my rudeness, bathroom direction regular? Really nothing wrong with flux and brilliant if there's a rhyme and rhythm to it but these are factors that matter as you go along. My lowest is either Thursday or Friday, Saturday up a lot, Sunday the same, Monday through Wednesday down a little. I can see mines linked greatly to Friday night salty food and vino. Best of luck with all the visitors, can be hard to manage or you can try my hostess style plan where I run around like loon and am the best hostess ever, barely leaving myself room to guzzle

Bathsheba3 · 21/07/2017 10:22

Well done not you're bad on it. I'm not. Had people to stay, and so been eating & drinking to keep them all company (!). Resisted fry-up. Halo

Bathsheba3 · 21/07/2017 10:22

back on it. Not bad, obviously Grin

sweetbitter · 21/07/2017 10:55

Drinking tons of water (at least 2l per day, often 3 or 4 ) and pretty regular. Wonder if Sat morning weight loss is because I get up later on Saturday though, body has an extra couple of hours overnight to shed pounds!
