Had too many Ss yesterday! Made a key lime pie with eldest DS, I'm not going to lie, it was yummy! But only had a smallish slice, everyone else went back for seconds! Also had a couple of glasses of wine, some crisps and dips, a few chocolates (They weren't all that great to be honest)
Aiming for more moderation today. Have a good Sunday everyone Smile

twofloorsup · 23/07/2017 08:55

Well done on not turning into a blowout Posie.
I've just tried the sugar free cake.
Verdict ?
I ate it as I hate wasting food Grin
Won't bother making it again.
I genuinely prefer savoury tastes now Smile

Can I please join? This sounds like the perfect plan for me and slow and steady weight loss appeals more to be than a quick fix.
After years of dieting, I know that my downfall is mindless and emotional snacking. Most recently I've been calorie counting using an app and I can see that I was using my allowance mostly on crisps! They are my absolute weakness and the first thing I reach for when I'm happy, tired, sad, angry, frustrated, bored, etc etc.
Which leads me to my first question - do you allow yourself a few crisps with a sandwich, for example, on a non S day if it counts as a meal? Or am I just kidding myself and I should go cold turkey??! Luckily I don't have a sweet tooth so not having dessert or chocolate in the week is no hardship.
The other question I have relates to alcohol. I don't drink much during the week, so does that mean I can get away with a couple more at weekends if I'm socialising??

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/07/2017 09:56

Hi Olivia! This is a really good way of getting rid of mindless snacking. Crisps are tricky for me. Technically they're allowed, but I wind up having some every day. What you might do is put them on your plate, treat them as part of your meal, and do your first 21 days to get the habit solid. Then you can reconsider. Essentially, if you can lose weight while eating crisps, go for it, but if you find you aren't losing, be prepared to ditch them during the week.

The official rule re alcohol is to have no more than 2 drinks a day, any day. I don't get on with that either! I don't drink often unless I'm socialising - but if I'm socialising I definitely have more than 2.

Reasonably good weekend - first time in ages I managed to stick to my Sunday as an N day, and moreover, stick to 2 plates on it (a fry-up for brunch and homemade curry for dinner)! I have stayed the same weight since Friday, which is good, but it's 3lbs up on a fortnight ago, which is bad. AF started yesterday so it could very well be bloat, though.

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 24/07/2017 12:32

I think I'm going to try going cold turkey, TooExtra! Otherwise I'm never going to break the habit and I'm not sure if it's the salt or the fat content that keeps me hooked, but I know I'm addicted. Will try to stick to lunches for the time being that don't usually have crisps as an accompaniment! Thanks for the encouragement. Smile

OSETmum · 24/07/2017 12:36

I think cold turkey on the crisps: crisps taste disgusting to me now, the salt and oil tastes really strong. My tastes have definitely changed, my favourite treat nowadays is fresh pineapple, strawberries or (and) blueberries 😊

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 24/07/2017 13:45

OSETmum I read "cold turkey on crisps" and thought yum! That's how bad my addiction is! I long for the day when I no longer crave them. How long have you been following the No S plan?

twofloorsup · 24/07/2017 19:11

WhatWould I was never keen on crisps before , I was definitely a cake and biscuits girl.
However I now have more savoury tastes and do enjoy crisps occasionally. As long as they fit on my plate I don't stress about it (I don't like them enough to eat daily).

PosiePootlePerkins · 24/07/2017 19:18

Going to copy my post from my daily check in on the NoS forum. Just messed up.

Spectacular fail this evening I binged on garlic bread, chocolates, a cream eclair. I gave myself permission to eat without thought or care. I haven't done this on an N day for a long time and am hoping that it is just a minor setback. I ate out of stress and tiredness and it hasn't made me feel any better. I thought I had left this destructive behaviour behind me and am sad that I allowed myself to regress.

twofloorsup · 24/07/2017 20:15

Aw Posie end of term meltdown ?
Mark it and move on sweet that's what you'd tell us.

PosiePootlePerkins · 24/07/2017 20:30

Ha how did you guess two? I will try and do that, I just feel rubbish about it. A new day tomorrow. And last day of term, woohoo!

beela · 24/07/2017 20:48

Don't worry posie. Look at your third sentence: I haven't done this on an N day for a long time - that's the bit that counts.

PosiePootlePerkins · 24/07/2017 20:52

Thank you so much two and beela Flowers

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/07/2017 21:32

Posie, you've been so good for so long, don't stress about one little slip!

PosiePootlePerkins · 24/07/2017 22:15

Ah thank you cheddar you are right, I do have a tendency to be hard on myself, NoS has helped me to be positive because it has been so achievable. Just slipped up today. I shall listen to all of you lovely lot and mark it and move on! Feel much better for sharing it here, the support is wonderful Smile

twofloorsup · 24/07/2017 22:45

Been there done that Posie Grin
I'm riddled with sore throat lurgies but soldiering on, short day tomorrow and deep clean Wednesday then I'm done. Looking forward to seeing my own kids Smile

PosiePootlePerkins · 25/07/2017 06:22

Hope you feel better soon two, good luck with the last couple of days of school.

OSETmum · 25/07/2017 08:23

Posie it's definitely end-of-term-itis! It's to be expected really, as two says mark it move on.

twofloorsup · 25/07/2017 13:09

Thank you.

Inthetropics · 25/07/2017 17:12

I'm back from holiday and haven't gained weight. My plan was to stick to N and S days while on holiday but the food was so appealing (my mom's delicious food) that i gave the whole constant-S-days-while-on-holiday a try.

Incognito - I've been thinking of you and your mother everyday. One thing i learned from being in this situation is that taking care of myself made life feel more "normal". Maybe it could have a similar effect on you? Not sure; just trying to help. Hope you're ok.

PosiePootlePerkins · 25/07/2017 22:37

Much better day today, one small fail but not out of control like yesterday. We had a farewell lunch at school and there were little 'mini' eton mess desserts, I did have one (gone in a couple of mouthfulsBlush) but no bingeing thank goodness. Next challenge, try and stick to plan through the Summer holidays! Usually I just eat whatever I fancy which results in a weight gain. This year I am aiming to have moderation in my diet. That's the plan.
Hope everyone is OK and having a good week.

twofloorsup · 25/07/2017 22:39

Well done Posie.
My main aim is to keep up my exercise over the summer. I'm aiming for a minimum of 4 sessions a week.
I'm currently doing 5 so I should be ok and I bought a bike today so I can go out with my daughter.

beela · 26/07/2017 07:41

Inthetropics brilliant! Hoping for similar results after my holiday next week.

Summer holidays are tricky! I've had 2 slip ups in 2 days - on Monday we went for a picnic so I made flapjacks and had one with my lunch. Yesterday I was doing really well and then polished off ds's cornetto that he couldn't finish Blush

I am so close to 2 stones so need to keep that in mind. I'm at work the second half of this week so that should be easier.

twofloorsup · 26/07/2017 16:04

Beela I have made 80 flapjacks for work this past week. I'm sick of the sight (and smell) of themGrin

bowbear · 26/07/2017 22:06

Hi All,

I was derailed by carrot cake at work today Blush

I've been getting a little blase and need to refocus. I think I need to split my S days, two in a row seem to get me off track a little, I think I'll give it a try doing Friday and Sunday for S days.

Great to hear that everyone is coping with the holidays so far, it's definitely more of a challenge when the routine goes.
