It freezes well, beela Smile

Declined the post dinner choc / ice cream last night (and skipped an afternoon snack) - now to make progress today! (I know it's a weekend but hey)

Told DH about No S and the "has to fit on a plate" rule and he replied "we'd better buy bigger plates then!" Grin

twofloorsup · 09/07/2017 09:32

Mini my physical plates are small but I load them right to the edges so it defeats the object Grin

babba2014 · 09/07/2017 15:23

Thanks for the recipe!
What does it taste like? Silly question right? The name always put me off. I'm a fussy eater which I need to change. I love my white bread but I also love wholemeal tortilla wraps. I'm not a fan of brown bread with seeds. I'd rather eat the nuts separately.

Did another day of 30 day shred and feeling good.

Kids had ice cream and I could have had a lick but stayed strong. I think the exercise pushes me not to have any S's.

twofloorsup · 09/07/2017 15:26

It's quite a heavy bread. Soda just refers to the bicarbonate of soda that is in it. I like it.

beela · 09/07/2017 16:53

Soda bread is nice with soup.

Hello all!

Thursday was a fail (went out for dinner, 2 large glasses of wine and all restraint in matters of pudding went out of the window). Fri and Sat are my two S days, and Sunday was a planned S day for DS's birthday. All in all, I have eaten like a pig for 4 solid days and I need to revert to sensibility. Back on it today!

On the plus side, I have managed to persuade DH to give No S a try. He's got a significant amount to lose and has been moaning about how hard 5:2 is, but up until now he has been entirely resistant to the idea of not snacking. I don't think he has the foggiest idea of just how often he snacks, or the number of mindless calories he's consuming. So he should find today interesting! FX he finds that this is something he can stick to.

MiniMaxi · 10/07/2017 11:00

Good luck this week, TooExtra!

Well I only started this weekend but it's gone ok - did indulge in seconds last night as DH had made a delicious dinner but haven't been snacking at all and no after dinner chocolate for three days now!

Where does Wine come into it by the way? Can I partake as long as I reserve a corner of my plate for the glass? GrinWink

MyCatSydney · 10/07/2017 13:30

Today is a fail already. AngrySadConfused

I had breakfast and lunch and one hour after lunch genuinely felt hungry when I couldn't possibly be and downed two bowls of no added sugar muesli straight.

What do you guys have for breakfast and lunch so that you stay on track? I find cheese keeps me going from lunch until dinner if I have a cheese sandwich.

I hate having a blip, it makes me question the whole plan and Slimfast starts rearing its head in my thoughts.

Ggggggrrrrrrrrrr

babba2014 · 10/07/2017 13:54

Oh no lots of blips!
I have been feeling hungry too past couple of days but it's the 30 day shred that's been making me stop snacking or eating rubbish. I didn't do all that effort for nothing.
But I am not too strict on having a little bit of fruit or nuts as snacks as it has been hot and keeping yourself refreshed isn't such a bad thing. Just don't snack on unhealthy sugar.
I eat two eggs for breakfast which is really filling. Keeps me fill.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 10/07/2017 14:24

Mini, nice to meet you! Alcohol is a slightly tricky one for me (she says, sounding like a lush) because the official No S line is that you can have 2 alcoholic drinks a day, any day BUT you should never go above 2 even on S days. If I have a wedding/night out etc on an S day I tend to drink my usual amount (which is significantly more than 2 drinks). If I have more than 1 drink on an N day I tend to lose all self-control and order pudding/start rummaging through cupboards in search of chocolate. I think some of that loss of self-control is habit rather than actual craving/drunkenness - being even slightly tipsy is an excuse to abandon all self-constraint.

Babba, I would like to respectfully disagree that you need to keep yourself refreshed with fruit/nuts if it's hot. You need to keep hydrated, sure, but you don't really need food. The whole point of No S is to stop eating between meals!

Sydney, I have a sandwich and fruit/crisps for lunch, mainly. I do get hungry but I know I can last out until dinner. I drink tea with milk if I'm peckish and it helps. What did you have for breakfast this morning?

beela · 10/07/2017 14:28

Mark it and move on guys!!

I've been ok on n-days, but the last couple of weekends have involved too much cake and wine! So I have been avoiding the scales, like a coward. I'll make myself weigh in later this week.

I'm on level 3 of 30 day shred this week (I'm doing a 7 week cycle of 30 day shred then ripped in 30, 1 week of each routine - I'm on my second cycle, with heavier weights this time). So hopefully that will mitigate some of the weekend damage.

mini wine is allowed! In moderation, obviously.

mycat I have scrambled eggs on toast or porridge for breakfast usually. Lunch varies but I find something with proper fat in fills me up for the longest. Avocado, goats cheese, smoked salmon, halloumi, etc.

MyCatSydney · 10/07/2017 15:28

TwoExtraMature I had No Added Sugar Muesli for breakfast this morning. Normally this fills me up but obviously not today.

MyCatSydney · 10/07/2017 15:30

Beela I have the Beginners 30 Day Shred and the regular 30 day shred Really should take them out of the plastic wrapping!

twofloorsup · 10/07/2017 16:20

Too well done recruiting DH !

Mini well done on the lack of chocolate Smile

Babba I would also have to disagree with the fruit and nuts between meals sorry as its against one of the main principles of No S.

Beela well done on the shred. I'm into exercise but that's far too scary for me !

MyCat I usually have eggs for breakfast or porridge with dried fruit and nuts on top. I don't struggle so much after lunch as it's usually a smaller time gap between then and dinner.

I've been struggling with having my banana from lunch before going to the gym.
So I've changed it up and now include it in my breakfast plate rather than my lunch plate.
So it's a bit like being in credit rather than in debt. My tiny brain can cope better with that Grin

babba2014 · 10/07/2017 18:02

I guess I'm following a lighter no s diet or just substituting. As I can't find a group that are as close to what I was doing anyway (no sugar etc).
I don't drink at all so I guess a odd fruit on random days (rather than everyday) is my excellent substitution. Not having a whole bowl or anything.

Also not having sugar etc on weekends too.

In this hot weather sometimes even water isn't enough hence me saying especially for non drinkers, hey if they can drink, then what will a slice of watermelon do for non drinkers.

MiniMaxi · 10/07/2017 19:45

Thanks twofloors, beela and TooExtra!

Ah 2 drinks a day, I can manage that - especially as DS still wakes at least once a night so going wild is pretty much out of the question. I think I'd have my "normal" amount on a special occasion too, as actually there are plenty of days I don't drink alcohol anyway.

Today was a bit of a fail for me - I haven't actually eaten that much in total but have been snacking (I've got a sore throat so it hurts to eat - sob! - so I'm not really in the mood for a big meal)

Onwards and upwards tomorrow ladies! (And gents if there are any gents)

PosiePootlePerkins · 10/07/2017 21:44

Hello everyone I have read all your posts, promise. Was a bit gutted this morning as I thought I was finally 2 stone down, but the scales disagreed this morning! Food is going well, but exercise is not. So busy with the last couple of weeks of term, I need the summer holidays! (And I don't need any excuse to stop exercising Blush) I am not dismissing it though, just, ahem, shelving it.

twofloorsup · 10/07/2017 21:49

Posie don't beat yourself up.
I am also engaged in end of term madness roll on 27th Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 10/07/2017 22:14

Thanks two it is exhausting isn't it! Three different schools (mine and my two DSs) all with different things going on at different times. Hurry up holidays Grin

OSETmum · 10/07/2017 22:53

posie'and two I work on a school too and the staff room table is already filling up with goodies ( cake and biscuits today but I didn't have any!). How do you plan to stay on track for the next couple of weeks? Or not??

twofloorsup · 11/07/2017 05:57

Yes I have two schools going on and also will go to summer fair of my last job too to catch up with the staff !

OSET I work in a tiny school and the staff bring in stuff all the time but that's about it. My hours mean I'm in and out and don't really hang around for food. 8:30-1:30

Pre No S it did cause me huge stress.
Well I just ate loads actually Grin
Not helping I know !

PosiePootlePerkins · 11/07/2017 06:27

OSET yes we will have a table full of cakes and biscuits at school soon! Have already been given a box of chocolates by a child, very kind but I won't be eating many of them! I am now so much in the habit of NoS that I don't really feel bothered by all the food lying around, I am just in the mindset of waiting for my next meal and ignoring what is there. But it took a while to reach that stage. Its really all about forming the habits. 'I don't eat those foods in the week' is quite a good mantra to tell yourself, even if you don't quite believe it! I do know that some people on the NoS forum have talked about how they take home cake and freeze it so that they can have it at the weekend, that could work.

twofloorsup · 11/07/2017 06:35

I agree with Posie about ignoring the food. It doesn't interest me any more and I've been doing No S since January this year.

Pre No S it would have been all I thought about and I would have eaten til I felt physically sick.

I do recommend making your meals something to look forward to. The times I don't do that I end up with cereal or toast. I never enjoy it that much and always feel unsatisfied.

beela · 11/07/2017 07:57

two I agree. When you are only eating three plates a day then they need to be worthwhile.

The cake and biscuits at work are losing their appeal for me too. It's the same principle I think - if you rarely eat cake then when you do it needs to be a good quality delicious piece of cake. It's usually all Mr kipling etc in the office, so quite easy to resist.

I like your mantra posie. I also like 'party food is for parties'.

twofloorsup · 11/07/2017 08:24

Totally agree Beela.
I simply don't eat cake anymore but if I was going to have a piece it would most definitely have to be home made , freshly baked and worth it !
