Morning everyone,

It is raining and I am so pleased to see some cooler weather. We done talk about it, but at my weight the hot high temperature days really are very uncomfortable. It is very claustrophobic to be too hot and feel like you can't breathe because of your fat suit. I really feel for furry pets on those days because they can't take their coats off!

I plan to start doing Jillian Michael's 'Beginner Shred'. I came across it by accident last year and was thrilled that Jillian had acknowledged that level 1 of 'The 30 Day Shred' was beyond the real 300 pound unfit beginner. It works in exactly the same way, three workouts each for ten days with basic and advanced moves. Then you progress to 'The 30 Day Shred'.

So, a poll, if you may. Please say yes if you think that if I do modified No S and The Beginner Shred I will start to lose weight.

I love how you you guys see the importance of exercise. I really want to see how exercise can help on so many levels, emotional, physical, mental, etc etc

MiniMaxi · 11/07/2017 09:40

I'm with you beela. I love cake but I'm not that fussed about biscuits - so I try to avoid the latter completely as it's just pointless calories for me!

MyCat, I know nothing about the shreds but I suspect others on here can advise. But what I do know is exercise is SO important for how you feel! Even something as simple as walking more (as much as you can) can make a huge difference. Good luck and enjoy this cooler weather! Smile

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/07/2017 10:02

I've done the 30 Day Shred and it really works! It makes you lose inches all over really fast - by the end of the first level I could see definite changes. I think it's likely to speed up weight loss for you, both by the actual exercise and by killing some time when you might otherwise be tempted to snack. It makes me so knackered I couldn't eat immediately afterwards anyway! Plus, you'll get a huge sense of achievement which will make you feel better about yourself and when you're happier it's easier to eat well...all the intermingled good stuff that exercise brings! I'm working from home today and I'm intending to do a Jillian DVD for the first time in weeks before I go to pick the kids up.

You will definitely lose weight with No S and the beginner Shred. Don't worry about that! Try and aim for 21 days on habit (the No S habit), and do the Shred as often as you can. Don't kill yourself Shredding - in later DVDs she says do 5-6 days a week, always allow yourself at least one rest day. I find that Shredding 3-4 times a week is plenty, tbh - still lose weight and inches, and with work, kids and housework to juggle it's usually all I can manage. In fact, 3 times a week is a good week for me!

beela · 11/07/2017 13:13

mycat what do you mean by modified no-s?

Shredding will help, not only with the weight loss but also with your posture and how you hold yourself, which will in turn make you look slimmer. I can definitely feel that my core is much stronger and I slouch less these days.

I think you just need to try it and see if it works for you. There's no reason it shouldn't, if you stick with it.

bowbear · 11/07/2017 14:38

Hi Everyone

You're all sounding very active, I'm feeling very guilty about my lack of exercise! Walking the dog is as good as I get at the moment, definitely something I need to address.
I'll second the cake sentiment Beela and Two, I now hunt out the absolute best recipe or piece of cake when I'm having a treat. It has to be worth every bite Grin
I've just been spurred on to keep going by digging out the clothes that haven't fitted me since pre DS, I don't think I can call it baby weight as he's now six!! I'm nearly there, and won't have to keep wearing the same handful of clothes that fit me at the moment. Definite yee ha moment Smile

Yes you're all right about the cake, there's nothing worse than disappointing calories! Well, so far I've managed to avoid cake (although to be fair I think it would have been worth it!) biscuits (not worth it) and meringue ( I did have a few blueberries). It doesn't help that I'm not overweight but I'm doing no S for maintenance so people seem to enjoy trying to get me to cave!

MyCat you will definitely lose weight but how much depends on how you intend to modify it?

twofloorsup · 11/07/2017 16:21

Oset I started this off as a cure for binge eating. Happily I have lost some weight but it's not the main focus for me. Which is probably why I've stuck to it Grin

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/07/2017 17:22

Did the Ripped DVD! My boss called when I was in the warm-down stretches and I had to talk to her while trying not to breathe too loudly. I've had a shower and my face is still scarlet. This is why I don't exercise at lunchtime in the work gym! although I probably should join Anyway, proud of myself!

I don't think you can call me active. I did an intense burst of Shredding in April/May before my sister's wedding, and then promptly stopped. It's been 6 weeks since the wedding and I've done the DVD twice in that time. Blush I need to be happy in my bikinis by October, though, so I'm really going to try to keep up the exercise this time.

twofloorsup · 11/07/2017 18:40

Too I'm a classic couch potato but now I've got into exercise I love it and miss it if I don't do it Smile

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/07/2017 19:44

Why is the last day before the weekend always the hardest?

PosiePootlePerkins · 13/07/2017 22:21

Hang on in there cheddar almost there!
I am eating out with friends tomorrow evening, here's hoping I can stick to NoS. Its the waiting for dinner that I find hard, I usually eat early around 5.30/6pm and we're not booked until 7.45pm. Will do my best!

beela · 14/07/2017 06:00

You can do it cheddar and posie! (Emergency glass of milk?)

twofloorsup · 14/07/2017 06:16

I don't struggle with that but I think that's because I don't usually do anything different at the weekend.

I may have a chocolate banana smoothie this weekend as its hot but still won't snack or have seconds.

I am struggling with a daily bowl of Alpen for lunch as I think it's probably too sweet for No S. I finished the box yesterday and won't buy another. I'll have to find a new super fast lunch Smile

beela · 14/07/2017 08:07

Alpen is very sweet. Could you make your own muesli?

twofloorsup · 14/07/2017 08:27

I could do. I've made granola before.
The thing is Alpen used to be a binge trigger. I'd have one bowl and another then another til I felt sick. So eating just one bowl is so delicious.
But I know it's too sweet and it feels dangerous so I'm kicking it to the kerb and will have it on a weekend in future if I really want it. The reality is I have more time to cook at the weekend so I probably won't even miss it !
I've come to work without my breakfast today. Luckily I keep shredded wheat in my locker so I'll have my breakfast for lunch. Which solves the problem of what to have after gym. Happy days Grin

AristonAndOn · 14/07/2017 13:37

Hi all, still struggling so bit the bullet and visited my gp. Think I need some extra help with my anxiety. Lovely to see everyone still here. 💐

twofloorsup · 14/07/2017 17:41

Hello Ariston hope you're ok lovely.

beela · 14/07/2017 18:16

Hi Ariston. Hope you get the help you need Flowers

Weigh in for me today... it's still coming off slowly but surely, even with the recent cake and wine weekends Grin Aiming for moderation this weekend. No special occasions so no excuse really. Have a good one everyone.

PosiePootlePerkins · 14/07/2017 19:09

Hi Ariston so pleased you keep popping in. Good luck at the doctors, fingers crossed they can give you some support, anxiety is awful. Flowers
Well I am sitting here all ready to go out, my tummy is rumbling but slightly satisfied by a glass of milk (good suggestion beela) I can't wait for dinner! And will have to avoid starters / desserts, will probably have a coffee if my friends have dessert. Tomorrow I have another evening out with different friends (my social life is normally very quiet, its a bit like buses, nothing for ages then two come along at onceGrin) I am planning to enjoy my food and drink tomorrow evening as its an S day.
I am so close to 2 stone off but trying not to obsess about the numbers on the scales, its never been helpful and I feel so much better in myself anyway.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

twofloorsup · 15/07/2017 09:31

Beela I was inspired by your post to weigh myself and I'm a couple more pounds down. I've never felt deprived which I think is key to this working for me.
Posie I hope you had a nice night out.
It is my daughter's birthday next week and strangely I'm already feeling guilty- but over not eating her cake as I feel she will be offended Grin
Bonkers !

bowbear · 15/07/2017 12:26

Lovely to see you back Ariston, I'm so pleased you are getting some support. Anxiety can be so crippling Flowers

Lovely to hear everyone is doing well, it's so much easier to stick to when it doesn't feel like a diet. I am so glad I found this plan and thread. It's great to keep popping in and reading everyone's posts.
Have a lovely weekend.

Hello Two, Posie, Bow and Beela. I'm so pleased everyone seems to be doing so well. Hope I can say that again soon.
I have had 5 weeks of illness here for my two dds and me with hospital admissions, then d and v, and now chicken pox. So much time just staying in and I'm no good at that, I need my busy routine. Not sure my eldest will get to school next week so need to find a coping mechanism soon as it's then summer holidays! Doctors have put me on a waiting list for counselling and have suggested medication. I was doing so well when in control of food so I'm not sure if I should try and get back in control of the food and see if my anxiety lifts or, take the medication and how it helps me get my food under control.
Thank you for all the support.

twofloorsup · 15/07/2017 17:02

Ariston just be gentle with yourself and take one step at a time. The last thing you need is added pressure.
Take care.

beela · 15/07/2017 17:15

Oh goodness, I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough time ariston. I agree with two - take it one step at a time. Keep checking in here though, you are part of the gang Smile

I'm a bit worried about the holidays too. There's only so far off track you can go in a week or two, but six weeks is a long time! I'm hoping the habits I've built up over the past six months will hold strong.

MintCakeMavis · 15/07/2017 18:25

Thanks for all your support the other week. I'm a few weeks in and enjoying it so much. Not having to think about food and whether I should eat it or wait 15 mins has lifted such a mental weight. I never realised how much time I spent thinking about food before now. Even better is that the scales are showing a downward trend. Love it!
