I know they have skinny genes but both are sensationally trim .
To me they look wonderful , but I know they are probably underweight.
What do you think they weigh? eat ? and what exercise do they do ?

Good god. Seriously, who cares how much they do or don't weigh?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/05/2017 11:20

What a thoroughly vile and insipid thread

It's weight loss chat, so probably the wrong place if you expect deep meaningful conversations here.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 21/05/2017 11:33

fatlittlewombat she plays a lot of tennis fgs!!! How do you expect her arms to look? What would you prefer??

highinthesky · 21/05/2017 11:33

I think the public commenting is fair. Pippa is not publicity shy, she actively courts the media and cannot be surprised when people do make remarks.

Although I'm sure that if she actually reads them, she would find them quite hurtful. Froma health perspective, further weight loss is inadvisable. She looks the picture of health in her bridal shots, but IRL will look a great deal thinner.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 21/05/2017 11:40

How do you know this?

reallyanotherone · 21/05/2017 11:48

It's not about them though, is it?

It's about all of us "normal" women who feel fat and enormous for being normal. Who always feel we should aspire to the likes of kate and pippa, and fall down miserably because we don't have the time and money to put into our bodies. We feel like we should be making more effort to lose weight, get to the gym, and be closer to the "perfection" of these women.

How many threads on here have we read where women have no idea of the correlation between weight and looks. One day you'll get someone asking if 9st at 5'6 is fat, and everyone replies that "ooh, it's not overweight, but I'd feel flabby at that weight". Then you get a thread the next day about someone being too thin, they're 5'6 and only 9st.

So we look at celebs, and guess their weight, so we can hold ourselves up and compare, and guess how much weight we have to lose to be perfect. It's classic eating disorder territory- if i could get to 8st like pippa, i'd be as thin as she is.

Once you lose the advantage of youth and hit your 30's and beyond, the pressure is even bigger.

Men just don't have that pressure to be thin and beautiful. They are not valued for their looks, they know they will get the job/be treated with respect/ not be abused if they are carrying that extra stone or their hair and make up isn't perfect. Which is why men aren't posting similar threads.

It's society putting thin and beautiful on a pedastal above other femal attributes. Who knows what pippa studied at university? Does anyone compare their own degree and deem it better/worse? No, because society doesn't care.

highinthesky · 21/05/2017 11:52

How do you know this?

Just a couple of decades of dealing with sick and healthy bodies, day in day out.

mistermagpie · 21/05/2017 12:00

I think they both look great. I've got an 8 week old baby but before I was pg I weighed 8 stone 10 and am 5 foot 8, so bmi of about 19 I think, the lower end of healthy. I was extremely fit and did a lot of exercise. I looked very similar to Kate (body-wise) so I don't think she's anything close to 7 stone.

Fertility wise, I had incredibly irregular periods at a higher bmi and couldn't get pregnant. Both times I got pregnant (quickly) I had a low bmi. Some people's bodies just work better at a lower weight.

I don't think it's a body shaming thread, I think they both look great and it's just curiosity about how much they weight.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 21/05/2017 12:21

In what capacity high

People claim size 16 is the uk average.... it's not how we are designed to be. Upthread it's called 'normal'

I'm 6 foot tall... size 16 would still mean I'd be in the obese category. How can size 16 ever be called normal?

mistermagpie · 21/05/2017 12:24

Size 16 is 'normal' in that it's the average I think. That doesn't mean it's healthy.

CrazyExIngenue · 21/05/2017 12:27

That doesn't mean it's healthy.

It doesn't mean it's unhealthy, anymore than a size 4 or 6 is. It's entirely dependent on the person.

Abra1d · 21/05/2017 12:28

In yesterday's Times there was an article about a young Scandinavian model who was told she was too large for a shoot.

She was five 10 and weighed seven and a half stone.

It makes me want to weep.

Namebot · 21/05/2017 12:29

People always go on about kate regaining her figure after babies but seem to forget she had hyperemesis so probably lost weight during pregnancy or stayed the same while any weight gain was just the baby/ fluid/ placenta.

KM is supposed to be v tall and very, very slender. A journo acquaintance of mine who is her self tall and slender ( 5' 9 and size 8) said she felt massive when near KM at a press thing.

wherethewildthingis · 21/05/2017 12:29

This thread is weird. Pippa has muscular arms because she is a sports woman and plays a lot of tennis. She uses those muscles to achieve something! I find this whole topic horrible and misogynistic

mistermagpie · 21/05/2017 12:33

Crazy - I agree, I was just responding to the previous poster. However, for most people to be a size 16 they would probably be overweight.

CrazyExIngenue · 21/05/2017 12:36

However, for most people to be a size 16 they would probably be overweight.

Better to be overweight than underweight statistically. Underweight has a far greater chance of death than overweight. You don't get into the same chance of death as underweight until you hit the morbidly obese category.

So if we're talking about normal and health, best to steer clear of underweight.

SoupDragon · 21/05/2017 12:38

It doesn't mean it's unhealthy, anymore than a size 4 or 6 is. It's entirely dependent on the person.

Actually, I think recent research says it is. I'm sure I heard it on the news only this week.

SoupDragon · 21/05/2017 12:39

Fat but Fit is a Big Fat Myth

Squishedstrawberry4 · 21/05/2017 12:40

Pippa has a great figure. They both do

CrazyExIngenue · 21/05/2017 12:46

First off, you can't judge weight by clothing size. Sizes are dependent on the retailer, not on any standard. So while a person might be a size 8 in one store, they may be a size 16 in another.

Secondly:

"But the study has not appeared in a scientific journal and, as such, it will not have gone through a number of checks by other academics to judge whether it is scientifically sound.
It is difficult for example to know how well other influential factors - such as diet, lifestyle or smoking - were taken into account."

Also:
"They tracked people who were obese at the start of the study (defined as people with a body mass index of 30 or more) who had no evidence of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes at this point."

Now, I'll be fair to the scientists and say that perhaps BBC left out that critical bit of research where they ALSO tracked people who were underweight, normal weight and overweight during that period, because without that massive fucking tiny little detail it's really hard to read anything from the study.

JaneEyre70 · 21/05/2017 12:58

My youngest DD saw Kate on a public engagement next to where she works a few months ago. She said all of her work colleagues were really shocked at how thin she is in real life..... and not in a good way.

I think they are both just hovering above underweight and clearly the exercise/muscle tone must help. They are both incredibly disciplined Envy

eternalopt · 21/05/2017 13:11

Pippa does a lot of exercise, so I'd guess she's a healthy weight. She does a lot of cycling as well as tennis, so big muscles like the thighs and glutes are going to be very toned. I think both her and kate have amazing figures.

What do you think Pippa and Kate weigh?
styledilemma · 21/05/2017 13:13

I think she looked far too muscular. Those arms... No fat and loads of muscle, a really bad look in my opinion

Is it any wonder so many women are discouraged from taking up sport and exercise with attitudes like this ? Sad

Who gives a shit if some narrow minded people think that ''that's not a good look on a woman''
Sport and exercise make women feel good about themselves.
That trumps everything in my books.

Wish people would shut up with the 'not a good look for a woman' crap.

styledilemma · 21/05/2017 13:15

This thread is weird. Pippa has muscular arms because she is a sports woman and plays a lot of tennis. She uses those muscles to achieve something! I find this whole topic horrible and misogynistic

Me too.

robinia · 21/05/2017 13:18

I think Pippa looks fine.
Kate looks too skinny at the moment. She seems to have lost a fair amount of weight since she first came into the public eye.
