Sparkler1 · 08/03/2007 21:40

Can I start a new thread? Hope you don't mind.
Just had a really bad weight gain at group tonight and need a fresh start. Thought a fresh new thread would help.
After a 6lb weight loss last weeek have just had a bad weigh in with a gain of 3 1/2lb. .
So tomorrow is a new day, start of a new week and I am going to work hard at it!!!
Who wants to join me for a good week ahead?

Summer is on it's way and we are all going to look good!

Right. Am going to join in here as going to my first SW class tonight. Have faffed around trying to follow the plan from magazines etc but getting nowhere. I just have no will power and after a long day at work I just think " Sod it, I deserve a glass (or two) of wine and some crisps!"

I'm quite nervous about going and just hope that the other people there are ok and not as dull as Mamazon's group!!!

nikki81 · 26/04/2007 13:06

Hi to all the new people. Mamazon, the sausages are quite nice, i have them from time to time. I am having pasta for lunch, does anyone know what a small amount of lloyd grossman tom and chilli sauce would count as? weigh in day is mon!

loobysmum · 26/04/2007 13:45

Yeehah! Got weighed in on Mon and have lost 4lbs this week! Hooray for Smash bhajis, which I have been living on (well, not quite, but having with salad for lunches - saves me having to "plan"). Also loads of quorn. Mamazon, the sausages are OK. Wasn't sure about the texture at first but like it now. I cook them in the oven for about 20 mins or so, rather than use any fat. Or put them in with tomatoes and veg, etc, for a casserole-type thing.

ledodgy · 26/04/2007 13:47

oh poo

Sparkler1 · 26/04/2007 18:18

Weigh in for me in about an hour. I have my star week so have decided to use that as a good excuse for any weight gain I may have .
Just made a Smash pizza to take to group for everyone to try. Feeling slightly worried that they are all going to look at my cooking as something revolting. I'm not exactly Delia Smith but I have tried my best.

Hello everyone. Lot's of new people!! Fabbo!

I lost 1.5lbs this week. Am fairly pleased wth that, although I haven't eaten for the last 2 days, so I thought it might have been more. Never mind! That's 3 weeks in a row I've had a loss. That's good for me!

How'd it go Sparkler?

Well Done Beth!!

And Lastly, Welcome to all the new ones

rachfran · 26/04/2007 22:56

I have been having rice as a healthy extra on red days! only found out tonight that it isn't. Was dissappointed that I only lost 1 pound this week but should be pleased because I have had 'healthy extra rice' three times!

mamazon · 26/04/2007 23:40

Firstly - whats "star" week?

secondly thank you, i was really pleased and quite surprised. most of the people only lose 1lb a week...the slimmer of the week lost 2lb! so i was thrilled when she said i had lost 6.1/2

Congrats Ledodgy.

and what are Smash pizza's? they sound odd but appealing lol

loobysmum · 27/04/2007 01:10

Mamazon, Star week = time of the month. If you are due it can make your weight loss less; if you've just started you sometimes seem to lose more. I had just started, so my 4lbs is probably more like 2 (grrr!). It'll be interesting to see what next week brings. Smash pizza - i think there's a recipe further down the thread.

Ledodgy - checked out your mysterious "oh poo" link and meant to post earlier to say many congrats to you. Think you may have a point about positions tho!!!! I am sure dd was the result of a "drunken doggy" night! . Take care honey and let us know how you are doing.

sarahhal · 27/04/2007 08:38

Well I went to my first SW meeting last night!

Here's my grumble

When I weigh myself at the gym I am just under 12 stone. I know my parents scales (we don't have any as I get obsessed!)are a bit out so when they say 12.4 I'm not too bothered as I go by the big ones at the gym. So when I was weighed last night at the group and it said 12.9 I was totally shell shocked! I haven't weighed that since I was pregnant - I am not in denial as I always keep a check each week at the gym/parents.

Grrrrr. I was so good this week in preparation for starting the class!

Anyhow, have bought a six week countdown so will just have to go for it!(and use the gym scales as my personal current weight!!)

Sparkler1 · 27/04/2007 09:16

I lost half a pound. Which is great considering the weekend I had eating and drink far far too much. The only disappointing thing about it is the fact that I am only half a pound away from my half stone award. Grrr! Gotta work hard this week now. My friend and I started together and she has lost 9lb now - I need to catch her up!
Welcome to all the new people to this thread and good luck!
Off to measure my raisin wheats and semi skimmed!

Sparkler1 · 27/04/2007 09:18

oh and the smash pizza - you've got to try it. I know, it doesn't sound very nice but trust me it's surprisingly good. You could even add a bit of ham on the top as your healthy B choice if you wanted to.
I took one to group last night for everyone to try and the plate was cleared in an instant! They loved it.

Im going ot a meet in Brighton at pizza Express on sunday.....d'ya reckon they would make me a smash pizza if i aasked really nicely??

so if aunty flo arrived yesterday was last week my star week then?? so i should have lost more?

tiredemma · 28/04/2007 10:27

Im doing really well ( I think!)

Im amazed at my own determination to do this. this morning for brekkie I had two hard boiled eggs on 1 slice of wholemeal toast- was lovely!!
still unsure about lunch or dinner yet, just working that out now.

A question.... which days do you feel benefits you the most? I have a friend who says that she lost most weight when doing Red days, what about you?

Aww Christie Honey, don't be upset {{{hug}}}

We all lose weight at different rates, god sure I keep losing & gaining like a goodun'.

keep at it, it will get easier. Have you thought about going right back to week 1 & keeping a record of what you eat & what exercise you do? I still keep a daily record of what I eat & what syns I have used, I find it easier that way

I have been walking every day this week & been to the gym on Thursday for an hour, been eating really well so will see how it goes the rest of the week!

Emma, I find green days work best for me unless I am for a BBQ. If I know I am for a BBQ then I use a red day. Although I only realised a few days ago that sausages weren't free

It depends really, on what your food preferences are. Mine has always been pasta, noodles, potatoes, beans etc therefore a green day is good for me

Oh Christie - Yes I know how long you've been doing cos I've been doing it just as long as you I reckon. I've been doing it for a few months then stopping it for a few months, then back again then off again . My weight has been yo-yo-ing up and down for a few years now. It's bloody hard work.
How much weight do you want to lose Christie? Slimming World should work for everyone really - it's a very well worked out healthy eating plan.
Saying that though I have a friend who did weight watchers for a while and did quite well. She then stopped going for a while and gained weight. She then decided to try Slimming World but found she really wasn't getting on with it at all no matter how hard she tried. She gave up and went back to Weight Watchers and has lost near on 4stone. Strange eh? Do you think maybe a change would be good for you not that we want to lose you from our SW thread. Don't give up on yourself - you have lost weight and you know how good it feels when you do!

'ark at me being all positive. I'm having a crap weekend of it all
Had loads of bread today, pizza and chocolate.
Oh arse!

fireflyfairy2 · 28/04/2007 22:22

I found today really hard too sparkler

I had a falling out wih dh last night which we very rarely do & I said some things I shouldn't have said Anyway, I felt shit all day when he was at work & slowly worked my way through the entire fruitbowl & a packet of pink panther pink wafer biscuits @ 2syns each

He came home & we have sorted it out then we had a chinese meal

So.. goodness only knows how tomorrow will go....

ledodgy · 29/04/2007 17:35

If you've had a shit weekend why not do success express for a day or two to balance it out this really helped me and my friend last weekend. Cheer up tommorrow is another day!

Can I do SW when pregnant? I seem to think I can but now i'm not sure? I want to still go every week and stick to the plan as it's healthy anyway but I may ask if my consultant will put me at target so I don't have to pay for as long as i'm pregnant, I think she'll probably offer to do this anyway. If this pregnancy does work out I am determined to only put on the weight of the baby, placenta and fat stores for bf but no whole trifles or huge bags of crisps like last time! It's weird but I just can't use my syns this weekend as most of my syns usually go on wine and of course I can't have that anymore so have hardly syned at all!

Sparkler1 · 29/04/2007 20:03

Even though I've been doing Slimming World way before the Success Express came out, I still can't get to grips with what you are supposed to do. I have read the book over and over but it just doesn't seem to be going in. I just seem to be happy sticking to my reds and greens.

fireflyfairy2 · 29/04/2007 20:26

Hi

Ledodgy, you can do SW when pg, if you look the back of your book there should be a few pages about it You have a very positive attitude anyway!!

I had a good day today I think Had fruit salad for breakfast & then a 40minute fast walk. Had chicken & pasta for lunch, pasta sauce made from tinned toms, green pepper, mushrooms, onions & garlic. With mozarella sprinkled over the top

This evening I had the rest of my 113g chicken & a packet of chicken super noodles. They weren't as nice as I thought they would be.

Sparkler, I agree, I have read & read about success express & cannot fathom it at all!
