7lbs in August anyone???

Rshard · 31/07/2016 16:48

Following on from June's and July's thread, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

Starting weight for August for me is 11.10.5. This is from my WW weigh in last Wednesday which is where I ended July. 7lbs would get me to 11,3.5 just in time for my holiday.

Good luck everyone!

Ok I weighed in at 11 stone exactly this morning, I was trying everything to see if I could shift it to see a flicker of a 10 something but no, 11 it is. Would be amazing to be 10 and a half or nearing that by end of month.

Feeling defeated. Been doing the mfp religiously for a month and the weight was very slowly coming off.

In the past week I've lost nothing. I feel like I'm eating so much less than before but no loss in a week is hard to take.

Getting a delivery of running shoes so will hopefully start c25k today or tomorrow. But seriously. I feel like loosing weight was way easier just a few years ago.

Has anyone noticed similar? Very down about it. Can't see how I could possibly survive on less than I'm eating and have been very conscientious. Sigh.

I'm in. I weighed 10 st 3 yesterday morning. However I'm 5'2" & only have size 3 feet, so that's distinctly chubby for me - I'm struggling to fit in a 10 at present. I am going to:

  • cut out as much rubbish from my diet as possible.
  • go for lower carb options where I can be bothered - courgette or squash "spaghetti", celeriac chips, cauliflower rice, etc.
  • make more effort to have a larger proportion of veg in each meal.
  • start doing proper, regular exercise - mostly my Wii fit cardio, moving on to running. This will he easier to fit in when DD starts school in September.
  • walk to & from work - it's about 2k each way, I work 3 days a week.
  • try to go to bed earlier. I crave carbs when I'm tired, which is most of the time.
  • drink more water. I feel healthier when I manage this, & sleep a better as well.
  • green smoothie for breakfast on work days - I already made this change recently & I am less inclined to buy snacks in the afternoon.

Mostly, I just want to feel healthier & have more energy / stamina. I'm a natural veg-lover so the salads, smoothies & veg pasta is easy for me.

QuestiOns I totally get you. I also have weeks where I lose nothing and I suddenly lose a couple of pounds. I think it's known as a "whoosh effect".

Joolly I wouldn't recommend eating back all the calories MFP gives you for exercising, unless it's a big workout.

Questi0ns I am a slow loser too, and I fluctuate a lot over the course of a week. For this reason I weigh daily and take an average across the week. That approach won't work for everyone but it helps me stay philosophical if I see the scales leap up - I know they will go down again. Sometimes, whether through water retention or whatever, I have seen them change as much as 4lb from one day to the next. So I take it with a pinch of salt and keep my eye on the weekly average instead.

Good luck to all of you MFPing. I've used it successfully, but can no longer manage the strictness of it. I used it for 2 years and learnt a lot about what I needed to change, wg more protein during the day etc.

No change this am. Had a great physio session yesterday. She unjammed my ribs which feel amazing.

Have had a fried egg sandwich for breakfast and nakd fruit & nut nibbles for morning tea. Later will be having roast veg and couscous for lunch.

I didn't lose anything for 3 weeks recently and then lost 3 lbs in the space of a few days!

So far today I have had a banana and a coffee with skimmed milk. Stuck under a sleeping poorly baby attached to my boob so am ravenous. Must make good choices when I finally reach the kitchen...

I am joining in too.

I lost 10 pounds in July but was very bloated when I started. I am 13 st 3 and want to get to 12 st 5 (for BMI of 25) by mid September for a holiday. Ultimate goal is 10 st 7.

My plan is identical to hereforthecheer with 4:3 and calorie restriction on non fast days.

I haven't done any exercise as yet but I am thinking about it.

First - thank you to Belle, Hello, and Pony I think I am getting there with MFP.
Today was going well until I bought the grandchildren an icecream and automatically bought myself a magnum. Bugger.
I have been so busy with grandchildren and dog the time has flown by and I haven't had time to think about food/chocolate. Tomorrow I am going to start doing some gentle exercise, I have all sorts of small equipment gathering dust in the garage. I am really motivated at the moment, just hope it lasts.

Me too please. Not sure of weight as scales read a different number every day & hour but around 13.5. I Have a good detox diet but thought I'd have weetabix with skimmed milk & fruit for breakfast & lunch & a sensible dinner & only herbal tea instead of snacks to try and kickstart things.

Happy running Helloheyhi.

Feeling a bit bleurgh today, had a team work lunch yesterday and probably could have made much better choices. Also realised I was using up nearly 200cals a day just on milk for tea so I am sat here with a cup of peppermint tea instead. Not quite the same. Brew

Morning all. Sounds like we are all have a different approach to shifting the weight, which I think is good since we could pick up each other's tips, I also think trying something different can shake the body and metabolism up a little.

Well yesterday could have been a totally right off if I had let it. It was a miserable day weather wise and in the Belle household too. Our initial plan of a day walking the dog was rained off, though to be honest I think they were all being wimps, it wasn't that bad. So then came the big debate of who wanted to do what. My word that was tough going, anyway we all agreed to go and see the BFG, which was brill. Me being a tight arse frugal, I let the kids go to Wilkos for a pick and mix and drinks before.

Usually just a sniff of a pick and mix would have been all I needed to chuck it all in for the day. But despite my little darlings buying the biggest, colourful and the sweetest smelling bag of pick and mix I ever did see, I managed and controlled myself to just a few. Let me tell you it was bloody hard. Two hours, yes two hours sat between two horrors who were passing the said bag of sweets to and fro, telling each other how delicious they were, what their favourite ones were and did I want to try another. Yesterday I regretted teaching my children that sharing is good.

So I survived that, and I highly recommend th BGF, just not the pick and mix, take a punnet of grapes in stead. Then DH suddenly pipes up 'who wants a takeaway for tea'. You can imagine the excitement of two sugar filled kids. So pizza it was though I ordered fried chicken and salad and just had one slice pizza.

I am pleased for two reasons, I didn't binge on the sweets or the pizza and my weight has stayed the same this morning.

2cold what detox are you having, I am a sucker love anything detoxing.
helen I put my Fitbit through the washer a couple of months after I bought it and Fitbit replaced it because it had broken within 12 months of buying it.

My new habit for today is to stop eating after tea. I am never hungry, it's just habit.

And for anybody wondering, my kids do not live on a diet of pick and mix and pizza, it was a massive treat. It's bread and water all the way today Wink.

Have a good day you lovely lot.

Thanks Pony on my way to work now. Have you tried the fruit teas? There are a huge variety of them and the berries ones are meant to be nice. Can't personally vouch for them though. Maybe an extra workout will pick up your spirit? Don't let yesterday overshadow today otherwise tomorrow you will feel bad ( sorry for being a preach! )

Belle I enjoyed reading that Grin
Glad you persevered and you did great in the end. I guess moderation is the key as these things will always happen and can't always say no!

Jolly good luck on starting on the exercise machine today. Small steps will eventually lead to big successes.

Rshard and Groovee how have you been?

What's everyone having for lunch and dinner today?
Lunch is cocktail sausages and salad. Dinner is a vegetable curry and potatoes here. As well as a bag of crisps Blush

Well done on resisting so much temptation Bell! I often tell the kids they are having runny grobbles for dinner (like the Pontypines in the Night Garden).

Thanks Hey, I am trying to stay focused today. I actually really like peppermint tea (not so keen on fruit teas though) but the thought of a nice milky cuppa is a psychological crutch! Grin Especially when I am just shattered at the moment, DS2 has woken at around 6.15am every single bastarding day of the holidays. I am back at work next week (teaching assistant) and I don't feel rested at all. Just feeling a bit moany right now. Angry I will feel better later!

Good luck for tomorrow Rshard.

I'm trying to persuade DD to go for a walk today but she's not keen! We have just demolished a huge bowl of fruit so that's healthy!

Well done everyone so far.

I was at a hospital appointment on Monday and was weighed. That said I had lost 1lb. My usual weigh in says I have lost 2lb, so that's 9lb in 5 weeks. Really happy with that.
