That is good advice from Wispa. I would add, take photographs and assess how you look from them rather than in the mirror. I had a photo taken in December and I can't get over how fantastic I look GrinBlush but at the time I didn't know it because I hadn't hit my goal weight yet.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 26/02/2016 12:20

Thanks for all the congratulations and the advice, guys. Grin

I'm definitely going to out myself I think if anyone I know happens to read about my wedding plans. But where I live there's an arrangement whereby you can get married at certain venues on certain dates during the summer rather than just at city hall. I don't know whether anyone knows Tivoli in Copenhagen? Anyway I was thinking we would get married at city hall and then go eat at one of the nicer restaurants inside Tivoli (short walk a bit down the road from city hall), unless one of the 'outdoor' arrangements popped up on our desired date. The programme was published the other day and our desired date does have one of the arrangements, and it happens to actually be Tivoli. So fingers crossed we can get that. Grin

As for dresses, think I'm flying home in a couple of months (if I can find the bloody time) and going to wed2b, which is a chain of discount bridal stores my mum found, a la Vows on I Found the Gown. I quite like some of their Signature collection on the website but I would definitely need to not have a belly. And to find room in the budget. Let's see...

Something like this?

Or this?

Or this? Bit cheaper?

They could have all sorts of wonderful stuff that isn't their exclusive collections as well. Feeling a bit sick at the prospect of maybe having two trips in the space of maybe four days to sort it.

JontyDoggle37 · 26/02/2016 15:49

Smillas they're all gorgeous. Number 2 will be most forgiving if a tiny bit of tummy should be left, and the cutaway sides will create a lovely waist. 1 and 3 particularly will emphasise the stomach area....

Bathsheba3 · 26/02/2016 16:25

SO excited for you Smillas. Dresses are all gorgeous. I found the gown and yes to the dress are my guilty TV pleasure how sad am I. But as you will know you will be very surprised that the one you thought would be the one isn't, and you may end up with something you least expect. The lace is beautiful.

Bathsheba3 · 26/02/2016 16:33

No more loss for me today. And will be tough over the weekend as I have a few social things on. Am still not back in the ZONE . You both sound really strong Must and Not2b. Keep up the good work!

MustBeThin · 26/02/2016 17:14

I have toast for breakfast every day but occasionally have porridge, lunch I something like poached egg on toast, egg and soldiers, soup, or tuna on a breadcake. I do sort of have similar stuff, I wouldn't say I'm drinking loads of water but before I never drank ANY and now I have at least 2 of the brita filter bottles a day. Just got the dusty old exercise bike out that's hasn't had much use in the past Blush and done 5 miles on it so better than sitting on my arse Grin I do need to drink more though. I don't have any photos of myself Blush I hate having my photo taken but maybe I should do a mirror shot or something.

wispaxmas · 26/02/2016 18:16

Oooh, sexy dresses, Smillas! I love love love the first one. Not a fan of number 2, but the third is pretty, just not as much of a wow factor as number 1. I never found the perfect dress for me, so I ended up making it.. Sort of. Bought a simple a-line satin wedding gown from BHS, some vintage French lace and tulle, and had a dressmaker make what I wanted.

StewardsEnquiry · 26/02/2016 20:13

I love those dresses Smillas. So hard to choose!

Mustbe - I really struggle with water drinking too. I try to have one litre every day of just water, plus whatever other drinks I manage. I must try harder!

PandaBear30 · 26/02/2016 23:48

Congratulations Smillas lovely dresses and great incentive to help get the lbs off.
Stewards thanks for the tips. It's interesting that a lot of you on this board weigh daily. I try to only weigh myself once a week because if I see an increase on the scales (which you're more likely to with daily weighing) then it makes me want to throw the towel in.
OK day for me today didn't manage 1000 but came in around 1200.
Happy weekend all. Anyone got anything nice planned. We're going to a friends on Sunday which I know will at the very least involve cake... I love cake...it doesn't love me!

wispaxmas · 27/02/2016 13:53

Well, I went on a 9km ramble this morning and promptly followed it up with this... Whoops, probably cancelled right out, but at least I could find to exact entries on MFP. Still aiming to have a good calorie deficit today.

I'm definitely enjoying the more accurate portrayal of daily calories burned that the Fitbit is giving me. I've been probably having a 750 calorie deficit per day give or take, so should be burning off 1.5 lbs in a week. I think I'm going to stop weighing myself altogether and focus of staying active enough throughout the day to ensure I always have over a 500 calorie deficit. Might aim to throw in a couple 1000 calorie deficit days a week, too.

I'm so writing an essay here, aren't I?

Well I'm still bloody 12st 7 Hmm been stuck for 7 days!! Today is a day where I generally eat more calories so we'll see whether I actually lose weight tomorrow or monday.

Toast for breakfast
3 fishfingers and a slice of wholemeal with butter (made a little sandwich)
Fakeaway kebab for tea with homemade oven chips
Tea and ginger cake or jaffa's for my night snack.

Lots of carbs every weekend but I usually see a drop on Monday except last week when I had a drop on Saturday.

Thankfulforeveryday · 27/02/2016 21:02

Well this weekend has gone to rat shit. I went out yesterday and ended up drinking my body weight in cocktails!! So today I've felt like death and have just demolished fish and chips and a bar of dairy milk!! Shock however that's all I've eaten today as I couldn't even keep water down earlier!! Why don't we learn eh!! At my age too!!!
I hope I don't gain now this week!!
All your positive posts have given me the kick up the arse I needed!!
Happy weekend all xx

JontyDoggle37 · 27/02/2016 22:09

Hello all. I'm managing to maintain weight, but not in the way I hoped. Eating habits have gone out the window the last two weeks, meal planning has dropped off, hot cross buns and lots of bread have made their way into the house, mainly because I'm under lots of business/financial pressure. Also, after family members asking me not to lose any more weight, I stopped at 9st12, but after living at that for three weeks I do still have a roll around add my stomach/top of hips id like to get rid of. I always lose weight off my stomach last, so I know 3lbs would do it. It's not a massive additional loss, and my BMI at that weight would still be 19.93, so well within the healthy range. So plan is to tackle that from Monday. Tomorrow is my sons christening, so no hope of 'normal' eating tomorrow!

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 28/02/2016 14:26

Thanks to those who suggested relying on photos for monitoring progress at this point - I've downloaded the app to my iPad and found you can add progress photos there alongside the weights, so I've been through my phone and found some at various points. Very satisfying to see. And I found I can now wear one of my prettier older tops again (awkward elastic band round the waist), and I look pretty good! Better than I realised I did, which is the main point. It's really helping me keep to my calories at the moment.

My goal around the start of Feb was to be under 10 stone at the start of March (my bday) and last week I thought I'd been complacent and fluffed that, but I'm now 62.9 kg and absolutely NOT going anywhere near maintenance calories before my birthday, so that I don't put a kilo of water weight back on and ruin it! Trying to stick as close to 1000 kcals as possible and have started taking a multivitamin to help me feel more comfortable with that. Smile

dragonsarebest · 28/02/2016 20:36

Hello again maybe NCed I am really annoyed, I've actually gained a pound since last Sunday. Yes I had a couple of days where I blew the budget so to speak but I'm gutted because the week before and for most of this week I've done great. Fed up a bit!

dragonsarebest · 28/02/2016 20:37

Everyone else is doing so well though - well done on your losses! Star

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 28/02/2016 22:16

It'll be water, dragons, don't feel too down!

dragonsarebest · 28/02/2016 22:46

Thank you Smilla it is disheartening though, there's no justice! How are you managing on 1000 a day? I've been struggling with 1200 but I probs need to aim for lower. Happy soon-to-be birthday and I hope we both break the 10 stone barrier soon too.

MustBeThin · 28/02/2016 23:18

It is disheartening Dragon but try not to let it get you down. 1lb will just be bloat. I was really annoyed the other week I weigh everyday and one day I weighed 12st 9 (had been that weight for a couple of days) then I weighed the next day and I was 12st 11 Shock I'd been eating within my calories, not had anything bad. I expected it to go within a day or 2 like it did before if I gained just 1lb but this time I'd gained 2lb and it hung around for like 5 days. I wasn't happy. Now I'm 12st 7 and have been this weight for 8 days, no drop at all despite eating within my calories. Sad

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 29/02/2016 00:01

I've made a concerted effort to eat more protein than usual, dragons - for the satiating effect. Though the more days that go on at around 1000 kcals, the more the underlying sense of hunger is growing. Sat here trying not to eat a Twix and drinking chamomile tea instead...

JontyDoggle37 · 29/02/2016 07:44

Morning all, it was my sons christening yesterday, which involved cake and a takeaway afterwards, and this morning the scales tell me I'm up 3lbs!!! I've revised my goal weight to 9st 9 too, so I actually have 6lbs to lose at the moment, although some of it is water/salt etc.

wispaxmas · 29/02/2016 15:01

Oh dragons and mustbe, that's so frustrating!! I hope things start going in the direction you want soon, try not to let it get you down!

I've been getting complacent about letting in the desserts again. Even though I'm tracking them on MFP I'm a bit mad at myself for giving in to the temptation to have them. So I'm going to start a new rule of no desserts on weekdays and then indulge a bit on weekends.

I'm not sure how you can stick to 1000 calories, though, I think I'd lose the plot and give up. Do you eat any calories from exercise?

PandaBear30 · 29/02/2016 18:44

I've lost 4lbs this week Smile feeling in the zone and determined that this will be another good week. Setting myself a mini goal to lose 10lbs my Easter, 2.5lbs a week so totally doable just need to stay focused.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 29/02/2016 19:40

It's not a long term thing at all, don't get me wrong. And we were out so decided to eat sushi today, so that's the 1000 out of the window. But I generally don't exercise. When I do, I'm open to eating back maybe half of the calories, but not all of them, in case of inaccuracies. I find I get far hungrier with exercise so I'm not overly keen to incorporate it right now anyway. Would rather lose the weight successfully first.
