Sorry if stepping on toes. But couldn't see another thread. Anybody want to join me? I guess the idea is that some weeks you loose a bit more and some weeks you gain but aiming for 1lb a week sounds good to me.

Hi. I started with you all but kept quitting so I didn't post much. I got a shock with a high blood pressure reading recently so I'm trying to work a bit harder. I've lost 16 pounds since Jan 1st. I'm more than a bit annoyed with myself as I see I started at the same weight as Nan so I could have been in such a better place if I had stuck to it as she has. Well done Nan! Even so, I guess I have lost a pound a week so far and so I should get there by Christmas!

DottyBee · 14/04/2016 16:51

Don't be hard on yourself Fossil. It is still a good steady loss.

I found out this week that my cholesterol has gone up from 3.6 to 4.8 in less than a year. Further incentive to get fit and lose weight.

Rinceoir · 14/04/2016 18:43

Flossie, 16lbs is great, it's around the lb a week we've all been aiming for! I've been busy at work and at home. My pulled muscle is improving after a very long resting period so I'm hoping to get back to exercising towards the middle of next week. I'm going out tomorrow for dinner so I'll try to make good choices.

NantucketNightbird · 14/04/2016 21:09

It's great to see the thread has been quite active today! Welcome back fossie great to have you back and 16lbs is absolutely brilliant Smile and definitely to be proud of.
I was at a science fair with my dc2 all of today and took them to the park this evening after school. My head is booming and I'm exhausted.
Interesting about the body fat it's something I've never had done I think boots scales have a function to measure fat, I will check on Monday.

No solid plan, was using nutracheck but I go over my calories every day! I just can't stop eating crap!! Sugary rubbish, just can't stop it and I can't believe how much weight I've put on. I really need to just get in the zone.

NantucketNightbird · 15/04/2016 14:14

I don't use any calorie checker either. The most important thing for me was stopping eating between meals.
How is everyone doing?

Hello all. I'm 5ft4 and 12st 12lb.

This morning my young son walked into my bedroom, sat on the edge of my bed, prodded my tummy and looked thoughtful before saying "mummy, I think it's all the wine you drink that's making your tummy like this. You don't eat a lot of chocolate or anything but you do drink lots of wine". He's so right and I'm so Blush

So sitting here tonight (Saturday of all nights!) with nothing more than water and coffee. It's not just the calories in the wine but all the stuff I eat along with the wine.

52lb loss would make me 9st 2lb. I would love, love, love to be that weight this time next year.

Taking huge inspiration from Nantucket. Well done you! Does it feel wonderful to have lost all that weight? (Sorry if you've already said up thread, haven't read it all).

DottyBee · 16/04/2016 22:00

Ooh yesterday's post isn't there. Not been perfect yesterday and today but have chosen healthier options of the food I have in.
Was in M&S food hall yesterday and bought a count on us meal. Go meGrin

Went to the gym this morning and did day 1 week1 couch to 5k. Feeling good.

Rinceoir · 16/04/2016 22:14

I had a lovely dinner out last night, but got back on track today. Going to try a long walk tomorrow and aim to start running again by next weekend. I'll probably go back a few weeks on couch to 5k after the enforced rest.

Planning for next week now. What's on everyone's menus for week ahead?

DottyBee · 16/04/2016 23:56

Ooh what did you have Rinceoir? I am going to aim for eating healthily 90% or more of the time.
I really begrudge paying ££'s for a salad in a restaurant. Seems such a rip-off.

havalina1 · 17/04/2016 06:57

Rinceoir and Nan are great. Plus nans nails always look great on her weigh in photo - another thing I want to start doing regularly!

I'm going to keep trying to cut the junk between meals. Nan is right that works. I tend to nibble here and there, hoover down a packet of choc after getting petrol, doing the big shop etc. I do it so quickly I barely notice I've done it.

I'm starting Pilates on Tuesday! I've booked it, and the baby will be at home with daddy. First time I'll have left him at home!

Going for a long walk today. I miss running Sad my Weight used to fall off from running.

I'm not going to weigh myself on Monday. The following week I will, and I'm having a proper go at healthy living.

Hello everyone! I meant to say that at the start!

havalina1 · 17/04/2016 07:48

Rinceoir what are your meal plans? I'd love some clues how to do it.

I'm just adding less bitter and salt to the normal meals. DP is a farmer so meals have to be enormous for him! A salad would get the stink eye of it was produced instead of a spud...

NantucketNightbird · 17/04/2016 08:00

Hey everyone and welcome blue. Thanks for the kind words everybody, I suffer from low confidence but you have all given me a lift Smile. It feels amazing I was living in bloody shapeless long tunics that flared out over my belly and legs with leggings. Even last summer I wore cropped leggings under dresses. But no more, I've got rid of it all and am wearing dresses with tights in all colours!
I'm unsure wether to weigh tomorrow or Friday..or both. Friday is the last day I can get to boots before I go away on the 25th.
I tried making kale crisps yesterday they were not for me and I like kale so I was excited for these. I'm going to try low carb low fat this week. Have salad with my falafel instead of a pitta or wrap, I want a good loss before I go away because it's inevitable I put on some weight. I do plan though not to eat anything all day Monday I go until evening meal and on Friday eat breakfast and eat nothing else until the next day. Then I have the weekend to try and salvage a maintain. Fingers crossed I stick to this!

For my dinner out I had asparagus with Parma ham, then salmon with sautéed veg and honey roast carrots. Definitely calorie dense though! Lots of oil! And some wine.

I've made a list of 20 or so meals that we have had and liked in last few months, then I usually try to do one different meal every so often to try. I pick from this list, and aim to do a bulky meal twice a week to provide two days and give me an evening off. So this week for example we will have- saag paneer (with cauliflower rice for me), slow cooker chicken and mustard casserole (mon, tues), roasted hake with veg and sweet potato wedges, beef chilli (I use about 30% lentils) Thursday/Friday. I add cream, butter, oil and more starchy carbs to DDs meals as she is tiny and needs the calories. When she's at nursery she has meals there so I give her stuff like avocado and toast, scrambled eggs made with double cream etc in the evenings.

Rinceoir · 17/04/2016 08:22

Nan I love kale crisps, I had to make them a few times before getting them right though. I find that drying them well, sea salt, really rubbing the little bit of oil in and cooking at a low heat for a longer time helps (I do them at 150 for about 20mins).

NantucketNightbird · 17/04/2016 09:26

I've always done the same with my children rince, to help build them up. Maybe I will give the kale crisps a try again then.

What's everyone's plans for today?

Sounds delicious Rinceoir.

I am spending the day meal planning.

Should really go out for a long walk. However after two sleepless nights in a row, it is unlikely.

Rinceoir · 18/04/2016 07:47

Down 1.5lbs, delighted as I've not been exercising and I had big meal out etc. Although it may show next week instead! Managed a long walk yesterday so going to keep that up this week and aim to start running again this weekend all going well. Down 2stone 6lbs now in total. 4 weeks until my holidays and would love to lose another 8lbs to make it an even 3stone but I'll settle for 4!

Fossie · 18/04/2016 07:52

1lb down bringing me down to 17lb loss in total. No one seems to have noticed yet. I've even had to point this out to DH. Even so I feel lighter and better able to do the stairs. The only exercise has been more housework and gardening but that is a win win for the state of the house too.!

NantucketNightbird · 18/04/2016 08:31

Wow guys that's super. Still undecided on weighing today, Friday or both before I go away.
Fossie not many people have said anything to me, I was having a moan on here a while back. I don't know if it's people being polite not discussing weight but I'm longing for someone to say wow you look great . The only person who has made a comment is my mother, it went like this 'mmmm your head definitely doesn't look right now it's not so round, yes it looks very odd'. Cheers for that mother Confused

Well done Fossil and Rinceoir!
First official weigh in 13.5 stone and 45% body fatShockBlush

Blueraccoon · 18/04/2016 08:58

My first official weigh in too - 12st11.

That's 1lb down after two days of no wine or snacking in the evenings, but I know it won't really be fat loss at this stage. Had a good look through the thread last night and it's amazing how many "I'm in" there were at the start from people who never came back or didn't last long. This is my worry, I've been in this position so many times before but lose momentum after a positive start. This time I don't even feel I have a positive start! Don't feel motivated at all, just feel I really have to do something about it. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and it's just creeping up. I was 11st 1lb when my DS was 18 months (and I thought that was bad) and now he's 8 and I've hit 12st12.

Great to see some of you have managed to lose a substantial amount of weight. Can't believe people don't notice!

Good luck to everyone for this week.

havalina1 · 18/04/2016 09:30

Rinceoir thanks for the meal ideas Smile I'll steal some inspiration from you.

Nan your mum!!!!!!

I didn't weigh myself today, I'm holding off til next Monday.

I'm noticing now the calories packed into my meals! I'm new to being someone else's OH and feeding a family and I probably leave my own requirements last in the queue.

Randomly - DP thinks he's some sort of slim-jim. He's 13st+ with a belly. He's fine! But I was talking about people who are skinny but actually have fat lining their vital organs, as being discovered now, and he waved down his body indicating he may be one of them. I had to say, delicately, "are you... skinny?" follows by "so is that a 26 pack" which didn't get well received. He genuinely thinks he's a rake and I'm not being mean but he really is not!

Nan, if people don't notice the weight loss, I wonder do they also not notice the bit of weight when we put it on?

NantucketNightbird · 18/04/2016 10:17

2lb off for me! Will weigh again on Friday and hope for another 1lb off before I go away.

Yeah at the start there were loads if us, to be honest I didn't even know if I would keep at it but I've lost every week. I'm not often proud of myself and I know I got myself into this mess but I'm bloody proud of myself today Smile.

It great it's got so busy again and I I can do it anyone can I'm a greedy pig but my thinking has definitely changed in regards to food.

52lbs in 52wks?
