9 lbs in 9 weeks

Hope it's okay to post here, really just wanted something that I could hold myself accountable to. I'm 5'3 with a fairly slender build naturally, but was shocked to find that I now weight 9st 12lbs. I still have quite a slim upper half, but my hips/bottom are large, and I have horrible footballer's legs that I've always had.

SO...I'm going away in 9 weeks time and my mission to lose 9lbs!! My biggest aid here will be cutting down on the carbs - it's shameful how many carbs I eat.

Anyone care to join me?

Can I join? 5'3 and down to 9 stone from 9.6 over the past 2 months or so. Would like to get to 8.5 by my holiday in September!

FrankWelker · 07/07/2015 17:01

Hi SunLolly. Welcome!

Mrscog · 07/07/2015 17:24

Hi SunLolly - welcome and well done so far!

juliej75 · 07/07/2015 19:10

Of course! Really good start, well done Smile

Only 2.5 weeks til my holiday so I don't think I'll be at my target weight by then, but if I can have lost a couple of pounds, I'll be happy.

Inspired by you lovely ladies, I'm going to look up some short-but-intensive exercise routines. No day off work this week, and a major project milestone due tomorrow though so the immediate target is simply to lay off the stress-relieving chocolate for once...

FrankWelker · 08/07/2015 06:19

8 stone 12.5 pounds. Why the hell is my stomach not flat!

Mrscog · 08/07/2015 08:55

Well done Fank. On the stomach side of things have you tried Pilates type stuff? Or a consultation with a physio? I found the advice I got from a physio after DC1 to bring my diastisis recti back together really helped flatten my whole stomach over time. If that's your goal paying for a one off consultation with an expert might pay off? I found it useful to have someone tell me when I was doing them right. Or you could look up the exercises online?

juliej75 · 08/07/2015 12:32

Frank, that's amazing! I doubt I've been that weight since my primary school days Smile

Sounds good advice from Mrscog re your stomach. Or I had quite good results using a rowing machine at the gym? Although that was some time ago. And pre-children...

juliej75 · 09/07/2015 11:12

I officially don't understand dieting!. I know you're not meant to weigh yourself daily, but I do because otherwise I get off track too easily.

Anyway, according to the scales this morning, I'm 10'4.8lbs. Thrilled, obviously as that's nearly 4lbs off in three days, but clearly it's not real loss - or is it delayed from the last couple of weeks when I've been really good but stayed the same weight?!

Either I have headfuckery scales, or my body is very odd indeed. Oh well, I'll take any result!

Mrscog · 10/07/2015 07:45

Well done JulieJ just enjoy it for what it is but maybe expect it to ping back a bit? I find that daily weighing keeps me on track too but you have to settle for an overall downwards pattern with some surprise heavier days.

Anyway, just weighed myself and I'm 9st 4.5lb this morning, so it looks like I've managed to lose a bit this week. Got a quiet weekend so hopefully won't fall off the bandwagon. Need to focus on next weekends BBQ and wanting to feel great!

SunLolly · 10/07/2015 10:09

Still stuck at 9.0, my weight loss is so slow. Really need to try and not pig out this weekend...

Shortandsweet20 · 11/07/2015 13:30

Still stuck on 9.10, but no chocolate, crisps etc this week and been very active! Lets hope for a loss on tuesday when I weigh myself.
Family & friends have been commenting that I am looking slimmer and have definitely noticed I've lost weight so YAY!
8 weeks to holiday - surely I can lose at least 10lbs by then!

juliej75 · 11/07/2015 16:26

Saturday official weigh-in day and I'm 10'3lbs!

Mrscog, I know you're right and it will ping up a bit from that, but I think partly it's reflecting proper weight loss from the last three weeks when nothing was showing on the scales. Anyway, with 6 weeks to go til my birthday, I just need not to give up and I'm good.

DH hasn't noticed yet, even though I'm 9lbs down in total from when we got back from a holiday less than 2 months ago...

Mrscog · 14/07/2015 10:05

I feel like I'm not making much progress, with DC 1 I think it was month 4 of breastfeeding which really kickstarted the weight loss so that should be soon. It's so hard when you feel as though you need to weigh everyday to keep on track - you see the slow burn for what it is.

juliej75 · 16/07/2015 11:00

Slow progress is still progress, and yes breastfeeding as they get bigger takes up more and more energy so I'm sure the benefits will kick in for you very soon. I fondly remember a Christmas when my eldest was a very hungry 5 month old - I ate cake in vast quantities (MIL did the BEST Christmas cake ever!) and lost 5lbs over the course of 3 weeks. Bliss!

Just doing a quick mid-week check-in here as I've gone up to 10'4lbs this week and need to remember not to get demoralised and give up. So much going on home at the moment (end of term parties, birthdays, funerals, work crises...) and actually I've done really well at keeping my eating under control.

Mustn't give up... mustn't give up..!

juliej75 · 20/07/2015 09:57

I hope I haven't killed this thread...

Down to 10'3.2lbs today. A little higher than I was just over a week ago, but it's reasonably stable so I'm cautiously happy. Just under 5 weeks to go til my 'deadline' so still on track, but I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks in a few days so it could all go horribly wrong with eating out, ice-creams etc.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend x

Mrscog · 20/07/2015 15:09

Hi! No you haven't killed it - my scale batteries have run out though! Will update when they arrive!!

FrankWelker · 20/07/2015 17:27

No you haven't killed it! I've gone back to work for the summer hols ( as you do??) so have had less time. 8 stone 12 pounds. Thanks Mrs C for the tips on seeing if my stomach muscles have separated- GP checked it for me. They haven't and my stomach is getting flatter. Never going to be like it was though! Hey ho!

Mrscog · 21/07/2015 15:12

Argh I ordered the wrong batteries! Another wait, although I do feel slightly slimmer and I did a 2 mile run in my best time since DS2 arrived last night, so it feels like things are heading in the right direction!

FrankWelker · 21/07/2015 16:35

MrsC do you mean baby number 2 arrived yesterday?? If yes congrats and don't run!

Mrscog · 21/07/2015 17:15

Ah no - DC2 is 13 weeks old now frank but thanks anyway - he's still quite new in my mind!

juliej75 · 21/07/2015 18:34

I felt slightly slimmer (despite not losing anything for the best part of 10 days), but then I finished off all the kids' fishfingers and chips for dinner. And now I feel bloated and cross at myself. Grrr!

A 2 mile PB is great - well done MrsC!

SunLolly · 22/07/2015 11:07

8 13.8 Got some new super fancypants scales that do fat percentage also, slightly concerned that 1/5 of me is fat...

Mrscog · 24/07/2015 08:04

Yeay scales back in action! 9st 4, so looks like half a pound lost. Back on it now - need to get a move on, definitely won't make the 1st Aug target of 8 13 now though, but never mind, it's getting closer!

juliej75 · 24/07/2015 20:21

Early weigh in for me this week as we're off on hols at the crack of dawn tomorrow: 10'2lbs. Only a pound down in two weeks, but still on target for 10 stone in 4 weeks - we'll see if that's still the case after a fortnight of ice-creams and eating out!

Pointed out to DH this morning that I'd lost 10lbs in the last couple of months or so. I still can't quite believe he hadn't noticed. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing?!

Hope the rest of you have a good couple of weeks... x

Mrscog · 24/07/2015 21:33

Have a nice time julieJ!
