9 lbs in 9 weeks

Hope it's okay to post here, really just wanted something that I could hold myself accountable to. I'm 5'3 with a fairly slender build naturally, but was shocked to find that I now weight 9st 12lbs. I still have quite a slim upper half, but my hips/bottom are large, and I have horrible footballer's legs that I've always had.

SO...I'm going away in 9 weeks time and my mission to lose 9lbs!! My biggest aid here will be cutting down on the carbs - it's shameful how many carbs I eat.

Anyone care to join me?

OP posts:

9stone 0.5 pounds. My fat belly is still there so now aiming for 8 stone 7 pounds instead of 9 stone.
Anyone else?

Mrscog · 22/06/2015 21:41

Hi can I join? I'm 5ft 3 and 9lb 6. DS is 9 weeks today and I've lost nearly 2 stone since I had him. My first target is 8stone 7, but I might need to loose a bit more after that. I have a fitbit but have stopped wearing it this week - need to get back on it! I'm trying to be restrained(ish) 4 days a week and more relaxed for 3. Also EBF.

Frank, you've done amazingly!

FrankWelker · 23/06/2015 06:21

Hi MrsCog! Well done - nine weeks post birth and I was the size of a house! Welcome! I've got a Fitbit and it definitely pushes me exercise-wise.

juliej75 · 23/06/2015 09:44

9lbs to lose in 9 weeks for me too but I seem to have started a long time after everyone else - wish I'd found this thread earlier! I'm 5'8" and weigh 10stone 9lbs (and do no exercise so none of it is muscle Sad )

FrankWelker, your progress has been fantastic. Very inspirational, as were Vivacia's posts.

Mrscog · 23/06/2015 10:09

Hi juliej I've only just joined too.

I've got my Fitbit on today after a week long break.

My first sub goal is to be 9st 2 by 19th July as we're having a BBQ then. It should be perfectly do-able, but just need to keep focussed on holiday next week (Cornwall so a whole host of cream/pastry type temptations will be about!)

juliej75 · 23/06/2015 11:32

Hmm, no Fitbit here (I'm not even quite sure what they are) but I do have a pedometer - not terribly high-tech but it's making me a bit more conscious of walking more.

Congratulations on your baby, Mrscog. They're lovely at that age Smile

FrankWelker · 23/06/2015 14:37

Thanks MrsCog! The Fitbit has definitely helped. Posting on here with updated weights has been a good incentive too. Just desperate to not have saggy skin! However after 2 huge babies I'm expecting it!

Mrscog · 26/06/2015 07:09

Right, pre holiday weigh in puts me at 9st 5, so that's another lb off. Now to do lots of energetic beach stuff with 3yo and not too many cream teas!

Good luck everyone :)

Vivacia · 27/06/2015 17:22

For some reason I didn't have this on watch, so missed your lovely comments, thank you.

Well done on keeping so committed Smile

juliej75 · 28/06/2015 16:50

I'm doing Saturday weigh-ins as I'm aiming for target weight on my Sat birthday: 10'6.6lbs yesterday, down from 10'9lbs last week! Very pleased Smile.

I've gone up a bit this morning but I had a DC birthday party yesterday and I can't resist crisps... I was too busy organising things to eat too much though!

FrankWelker · 28/06/2015 18:27

Well done Julie! Keep going! I was around your starting weight but I am nowhere near 5 foot 8!

juliej75 · 29/06/2015 09:54

I could cry. DH suggested we went out for dinner last night as we had nothing but party food in the house - totally overordered and I pigged out Sad . Straight back up to 10'9lbs this morning.

Why is it so damn hard to lose it and so damn easy to put it back on??

Seriously, aren't there 3500 calories in a lb? There's no way I ate 7000 calories more than I should have yesterday.

Hope the rest of you have done better than me...

FrankWelker · 29/06/2015 10:32

No luck here either- back to 9 stone 1 pound. I know exactly what you mean re how hard it is. I'm obviously losing everywhere except my flabby belly. I can even see the ab definition underneath the lard.
Anyway onwards and upwards. Going to use my Spiralizer every day this week as the courgetti is really filling and really really low calorie.

Vivacia · 29/06/2015 17:49

Julie it's unlikely that you ate an extra 3500. It'll be mostly full belly and water retention. I have a blow out most Saturday nights (am maintaining rather than losing) and Sunday morning easily put 2 or 3lb on. It's not 2 or 3lb of fat though and will be gone by Tuesday.

juliej75 · 02/07/2015 12:17

Sorry to hear you're having similar probs Frank, but you have already done really well, I can't imagine being able to see ab definition!!

Sadly, mine does seem to have been real weight gain. I've eaten as little as possible for the last few days, walked everywhere (15000 steps yesterday) and have dragged myself back down to 10'8lbs, but still well up on last weekend.

Persevering as best I can Sad Posting here makes me feel more accountable, so will carry on!

Mrscog · 03/07/2015 12:30

Right I'm back from holiday and weigh exactly the same as I did a week ago (9st 5lb), so I see that as a result! I'm aiming for 3lb in the next 2 weeks, but will be happy with 1lb per week if I have to be.

My next goal after that is to have a weight starting with an 8st by August 1st - even if it's 8st 13.9lb :D

FrankWelker · 04/07/2015 16:10

Well done MrsCog for not gaining while away. i thought the heat would stop me feeling hungry but that doesn't seem to be the case!

Shortandsweet20 · 04/07/2015 19:25

Hi!
I want to join - 5'1 and currently weighing in at 9'10 (min goal is 9stone - I want to get to about 8'10 or even 8'7). I have lost 4 pounds in 4 weeks. I want to reach my goal in about 8 weeks!

I am pretty active, I do RWL (Results with Lucy), swim and walk a lot. I am thinking of upping this though! My died is my main issue - I don't like much healthy food and I love to snack.

Is rice and pasta okay? Or should I avoid or swap to brown pasta/rice?Don't eat white bread, only wholemeal.
I need someone to smack all the bad foods our of my hands!

I am going to try to cut out all bad snacks massively!

FrankWelker · 04/07/2015 20:12

Welcome Short! What do you think of RWL? I was thinking of subscribing.

Shortandsweet20 · 04/07/2015 21:30

It is great Frank! I am currently following the beach body plan but also have the solo subscription which is great! Lots of variety it really is fab! If you want to PM me I can tell you more :)

ihatethecold · 04/07/2015 21:53

What's RWL?
I'm exercising like mad and definitely changing shape but I haven't lost any weight yet.
I do mind too much though because I feel so much stronger and healthier.
People keep commenting that I look thinner but the scale hasn't budged.

juliej75 · 06/07/2015 09:13

I think I'm too much of an amateur to be on here. I'm just trying to cut down on the amount of what I eat and maybe walk a little more - but it's not working.

I do average 10k steps a day, but don't see where I could fit in 'real' exercise. I work nearly full time, have a long commute, three young children and am permanently exhausted, so gym after the children are in bed is not an option.

Felt so demoralised yesterday that I ate several chocolate fingers and two jaffa cake bars. Funnily enough, it didn't help me feel better today Sad
10'8.6lbs today.

FrankWelker · 06/07/2015 09:44

Julie diet is definitely the way to go with exercise as just a top up. One thing that made a real difference to me was getting a treadmill. No time to go to the gym but can find 20 mins somewhere in the day ( I work part time though) to really push up the incline and walk for that time. I realise this isn't feasible for everyone. 3 kids though and working full time would exhaust anyone - I can barely manage 2 working part time. At least you can sympathise with me regarding the difference in how we look after kids! Determined to flatten my 2 c- section overhang!!

juliej75 · 06/07/2015 10:22

Oddly, I was at my slimmest (and quite toned) in the 6months-1yr after each child was born. BFing and lots of walking on maternity leave, while pushing buggies up hills. It's after that that it all goes to shit Wink

Having another one, just to lose weight, would probably not be the best idea for my mental health though!

Thanks for your support and ideas Frank, you're right I just need to get back on track with the eating. At least I am slightly down in 2 weeks, if only half a pound!

Mrscog · 06/07/2015 12:03

Please stay Julie! 10k steps a day is really good. Have you tried any 7min intense workouts at home? DH does them - I'll see if I can find a link to one.
