Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Hi all, hope you are all doing well, I was doing well yesterday and today...until this afternoon! Went for another run this morning as won't get another chance til tue or wed, and was sensible with eating at cinema with dd at the kids club film, then ate dinner slowly... But then my Sunday aft hatred got me and I have binged on some sweets and crisps Sad feel sick now and so angry at myself again Angry I just HATE Sundays! Always feel shattered and can't face all the house stuff that needs doing and also can't even have a nap or anything as have dd to look after. How do people cope with binge cravings and eating mindfully when there is a child demanding attention all afternoon? I know I just have to put it behind me as I can't undo the eating now, just got to get back to mindful eating next time I am hungry, but I am seriously worried that I actually can't do this and will be bigger than ever in the summer for our holiday to disney world which should be a huge motivator but somehow isn't working at mo!

Deafworm · 09/02/2014 17:17

are you using the holiday as a motivator or a stick to beat yourself with yippee its very easy to take something good and almost bully yourself with it. try going back to basics, forget the holiday for a second and think what is it you want? focus on it and forget the binge, its been and done.

as for future could you have small yummy things hanging around, i like jelly so i have it in small pots and i have a tub of cherry tomatoes and olives and bits in jars that are in the fridge but none of them are easy or enough to binge on so i focus on the flavour and enjoy it and generally leave the kids in another room and enjoy the second of peace and can go back to it, mostly!

yippeekiyay2 · 09/02/2014 22:56

Thanks deafworm I think you're right, I am so used to having a goal, a target from diet mentality I need to take a step back from it - I am not even sure that I really want the sweets so I am not going to buy them anymore - dd doesn't even like them so I can't even pretend that I'm buying them for her as well! I think I need to eat my meals away from family unless we're at table together or eating out, as I find I spend most of the time sorting out dd and then don't really take notice of what I'm eating...One positive for me though is that I have really enjoyed starting running again, and feel a sense of relief having quit the gym - I think I am definitely a lone exerciser :)
Off to bed soon as work tomorrow (roll on half term!) but actually ended up napping on the sofa for about 10 mins - just literally couldn't stop myself falling asleep I was that tired, so dd went and bugged hubby instead for a little bit! But I felt refreshed after that cat nap, better, more able to get on with things, so I think I tired and a bit run down as getting to the end of the half term.

Solo · 09/02/2014 23:23

Off and on?! Confused not sure what you are referring to BR

Walking? I can walk, but the last time I did it properly (briskly and daily), I made myself ill after 2 weeks of it. I was walking about 5-6 miles a day as my car was not working. Near killed me!

You said you wished you could exercise Solo. Why cant you?

Bonnie152 · 10/02/2014 08:14

Hi everyone,

Welcome to all the newcomers Smile

I've not been around for a week or two what with one thing and another but still been reading regularly. Was still listening to the cd most nights and following the golden rules, wasn't losing any weight and just didn't feel like it was working as well as it should.

I remembered BR said about using the gastric band trance instead so I have and wow, what a difference! I feel fuller so much quicker and a lot more aware that my tummy can't hold anymore. With the other trance I was always umming and aaahing about whether I was satisfied or not. Really pleased so far Smile

Glad to hear others are getting on well with it. It really is a fantastic way of eating!

Jellybeans456 · 10/02/2014 08:55

Hi All
Read back a couple of pages last night, but will read later on to catch up. Rebooted last night with gastric band, but also did the hypno trance on the FREE cd, so in al did 40 mins trance. Must admit I prefer the gastric band trance. Also read a bit more of book.

Sorry I've not been on here that much, but been so busy. Hubby and me even forgot our wedding anniversary which was 4 days ago. It was only yesterday having dinner with my in laws, that they reminded us.

Well this morning, had a satsuma and a banana. Full of cold, and fancied fruit with vit c. Feel full, and just sipping a caffe latte now.

Hope everything's ok with you all. How are you Millie?

Thanks Solo for the postscript to everyone, spotted that as I was reading through last night. I think there has been some name changes, so will have to catch up, to see who's, who now :)

BlodynRose · 10/02/2014 12:34

Bonnie....hi....the gastric band trance really seems to make a difference to me too. It also seems to work long term.
Jelly....It's lovely to hear from you. I'm Millie by the way Smile

BlodynRose · 10/02/2014 12:36

Think I might change name to Millie something though Mmmm!!!

BlodynRose · 10/02/2014 12:53

I overate yesterday. I needed to feel full to take my mind off stuff. My beloved cat Tom had been ill for the last month and I had been looking after him intensively. I had to take him to be put down on Saturday and it was just so very sad having to say goodbye to him. He was such a charecter, always chatting to us all. Sad
At least I knew why I was overeating and it felt horrible to be so full. Blush

BigBoobiedBertha · 10/02/2014 17:33

Oh Blodyn, sorry to hear about your cat. Sad it must have been a difficult weekend. I'll say nothing about the food bit other than it was completely understandable and I am sure you don't need me or anybody else what you've got to do or not do and you don't need to feel bad about it either.

Had a weird weekend - very busy. No over eating as in being full but definitely a few instances of over eating as in eating when not hungry. I never eat until the point I feel full (well once in a blue moon but certainly not weekly or even monthly occurence) so I need to home in the eating when not really hungry thing. That is clearly my downfall.

Hope everybody is having a successful day.

MillyBlodyn · 10/02/2014 19:03

Thanks BBB. Yep, I knew as I was eating that I was not eating out of hunger but more of a need to coddle myself and stop the hurt. Its not that I ate huge amounts just that my switch to stop as soon as I was satisfied was overridden if that makes sense. Back to normal today. Didn't eat anything till 5.30pm as didn't feel hunger. Had a big handful of nuts and dried fruit and seeds and have now got a roast chicken cooking in the oven which I will enjoy later.

Bonnie152 · 10/02/2014 20:25

Really sorry to hear about your cat Milly :(

MillyBlodyn · 10/02/2014 20:44

Thanks Bonnie .Smile How's the effects of the Gastric CD today.?

Bonnie152 · 10/02/2014 21:49

Been really good! It seems to have made a lot of difference as before even though I was satisfied by the food I still would've wanted to eat more whereas with the gastric band trance it feels as though I couldn't possibly eat anymore if I tried. Do you find that?

MillyBlodyn · 10/02/2014 21:57

Yep I definitely do. Even though I ate more than normal yesterday my tummy was really telling me to stop but as I was trying to medicate myself through food I ate a bit more than necessary. Back to normal today and I didn't eat till 5.30pm as just wasn't hungry. Only ate a small amount of food today so all good.

I definitely get the "Stop" signal very strong with the GB CD. Smile

Bonnie152 · 10/02/2014 22:45

That's great! It seems to physically stop you from overeating so much doesn't it, much like an actual gastric band I suppose!

I don't think I'd ever be able to not eat until that late - I'm one of those people who wakes up fairly hungry and ready for breakfast. I remember discussing with you before that you can go quite easily without food whereas I tend to get shaky when hungry. That's the great thing about PM I suppose, works for everyone really! Grin

MillyBlodyn · 10/02/2014 22:58

My DH and daughter cannot go for long without food either and they get shaky and hypo glycemic but my son and I can go long periods without eating and be absolutely fine.

I think that it definitely works just like a real gastric band and sometimes I get a signal like heartburn when my tummy has had enough.

Solo · 11/02/2014 00:03

Hi all! sounds good on here! :)

Milly sorry to hear about Tom. Awful losing a beloved pet :(

I can't exercise because of my ME; it just knocks me out for weeks/months at a time.

With the GB cd, I feel sick when I've eaten ~ especially when I have a drink close to the time I eat. Stepped on the scales yesterday and was 5lb down. That has happened before though and then I self sabotage!

OP posts:
MillyBlodyn · 11/02/2014 01:04

O sorry Solo completely forgot about your ME. Must be very frustrating. Can you do light weights just to tone the muscles?
Anyway, well done you on losing the 5lbs. Yep, I have felt a little sick sometimes with the GB but only if I eat too much , rather like a real gastric band so im told. It is recommended that you don't drink and eat at the same time with the GB though.

Any idea how you might stop yourself from self sabotaging though?
Thanks about my Tom. [sad ]

MillyBlodyn · 11/02/2014 01:05
Sad
ALittleFaith · 11/02/2014 21:45

Evening all!

That must be so frustrating solo. Have you tried something low impact like yoga?

Well I have ordered the vgb book. I feel like it will give me a kick start. I've been doing ok. Still not weighed myself but I don't think my clothes feel quite as tight.

Sorry about Tom MillyBlodyn (like that nc!).

MillyBlodyn · 12/02/2014 00:05

Oooo will be interesting to see how you do on the GB Faith. I love it and I find that I really feel satisfied very soon after eating. My tummy sort of gets a little heartburn feeling and then I know im done. Don't be scared of the so called operation bit...its really nothing at all. I also didn't do any of the pre op stuff like going without junk and sugar etc and it still works for me.

Bonnie152 · 12/02/2014 11:19

Hi everyone.

Faith - good luck with the gastric band. I'm loving it so far and like Milly didn't do any of the pre op stuff and seems to be working :)

Still plodding along here. Today I feel an urge to exercise?! Very unusual for me! I've done a small workout but wanting to take little one on a big walk...only problem is that it's p-ing it down outside so don't know whether to go or not.

Hope everyone else is doing well today. Are any of you affected by floods? I'm in worcestershire and some parts are quite flooded, I'm lucky that in my area there is none. Feel so terribly sorry for those who have been hit badly :(

MillyBlodyn · 12/02/2014 17:23

Terrible here in North Wales. Winds of 108 mph. Slates flying off the roof like daggers into the earth. Car has been dented by them.
