And anyone else who wants to join in. The idea of this thread is a way to record weightloss, motivate each other, discuss which methods if any we are using to lose weight and give the occasional kick up the bum.

Right you lot. I was going to wait until new year to start this thread but I think that if I'm going to have my head in the right place to start, I need your help now. I haven't weighed yet I'll do that on the 1st but I think I probably have 2 1/2 stone to lose. Last time I had 3st to lose so I'm seeing that as a postitive.

So, are any of you still out there? Who'd like to join me? Xmas Grin

You should look back at your entry yesterday and try to identify why you were over? Was it to do with high calorie snacks or too big portions? I think that is what mfp does best. It makes you very aware of what you are actually eating but only if you are honest with yourself.

Can you do porridge 3/4 milk 1/4 water 80 ? Might reduce the cals a bit without huge amount of notice. I'm amazed how quick everything adds up on mfp, it's an eye opener.

ifandwhen · 28/01/2014 16:21

I have porridge just made with water - but plenty of it, makes the oats release their own milk - then a splash of soya milk and a tsp honey on top. Delish.

Totally with you on the fruit and nuts though. In fact, looking at mfp, its odds and ends that are my problem - meals look quite virtuous!

One problem I think is that I seem to be in or near the kitchen most of the day at the moment. Making packed lunches before breakfast, then breakfast, lunch for whoever's home, getting a snack for the DCs after school, then the DCs' tea around 5.30pm - DH gets home about 6.30pm so we tend to have dinner after DCs in bed, say 8ish. And currently working from home.

I seem to have some sort of disconnect about tidying up by eating odds and ends as I go along/ testing whether kids' tea is ready etc. Just habitual absent-minded nibbling. Gah. Be great when we can all eat together in evenings, cut one lot of cooking out. In the meantime, must be mindful in the kitchen Smile Any suggestions?

Dubai! Wowser! My work jollies are usually to Altrincham or Cheadle!

I never log my cups of tea made with milk... whats the cals in semi skimmed? How mauch would you say is a 'splosh' of milk?

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/01/2014 17:26

Kato, Altrincham or Cheadle? That's quite a trek for you isn't it? How come there? If you ever have time for coffee let me know, I'm 15 mins in the car from both of those.

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/01/2014 17:28

eighty, that was a shocking statement. Dh and I work from home and I never thought of it as having power rather than being too close to temptation.

It's a very empowering thought!

I'd love a weekend in Dubai.

thanks eighty - that's a good point. No excuse then! And also, wow! to Dubai. Although Altrincham and Cheadle are nice too, Kato Wink

KatoPotato · 28/01/2014 17:28

hair I work for a well known acute mental health provider... that's two of the sites I cover as part of Scotland/the North!

I'm often by myself overnight, I will let you know when I'm next coming down!!

ifandwhen · 28/01/2014 17:29

x-post with Hair. Yes to empowerment! Am standing here feeling empowered right now and not eating DCs leftovers Smile

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/01/2014 17:40

Yay, night out!! Bet I can get IMST to come along too.

I know which provider you talk about. Ever see anyone interesting?

My "night out" radar bleeped Grin let me know when and where, I'll be there!

Reastie · 28/01/2014 17:58

eighty smaller mugs so you can't have as much coffee per mug (and so less milk too)? . I'm useless at portion control so have to have small bowls/plates as I know I fill my bowl. Filling a small bowl doesn't make me feel deprived whereas having a half empty big bowl does

My work jollies are usually....at work! Dubai? Wow, you sound very jet set Grin

Got 2 comments from ladies at work today telling me I am 'an inspiration' with my WL Shock !

Not going fab today, couldn't do workout again as had odd hip pain. WIll try and get a short workout in on my day off on Thursday.

Reastie · 28/01/2014 17:59

Oh, IMST I saw you had a book signing recently (your status about it came up on my fb timeline), how did that go? How exciting doing a book signing!

Reastie, the book signing was part of a party booking, went very well, lots of interest in me and my work.
The books are still selling well, after a post-Christmas lull in sales, but I'm still finding time to work on my next book(s).
I had no motivation today though, got no writing done and apart from school runs I didn't leave the house. At least there is nothing to snack on at home, though I did eat one of my birthday chocolates (in fairness, it's the eighth of nine posh chocolates and my birthday was almost 2 months ago).
Tomorrow I'll be back on itSmile.

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/01/2014 20:47

I think there was something in the air today IMST. I wasted the day working in front of the computer.

I gave in to chocolate digestives but I only had two. It would have been six before these threads.

I remember having a complete melt down over half a digestive biscuit at the start of the original threads. Blush

Hi everyone
Sorry for being absent, glad you're all doing well :)
Kato, exciting about the coil removal!
I'm doing ok, eating within calories, just not very inspired by it all. Not losing weight fast, and not feeling any better on my clothes. Just need to keep at it I think. Completely agree that MFP is eye opening. I used to just eat chocolate all day long, now I know how many calories are in 2 small squaers (still do it from time to time though :o). I'm amazed I was only 16s6 tbh.

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/01/2014 21:08

Glad to see you're still with us. Grin

reastie I forgot to say. Well done on your NSV. I'm not surprised you inspire people.

Hi all, I'm still here. Back at work + poorly DD2= not a spare minute to post.
The diets going well, am very on the wagon. Today my DD had one of those chocolate egg things that comes with a sppon. She ate the mousse in the middle but didn't want the chocolate shell .... Really??!! Confused

i put it in the bin.... a couple of weeks ago I'd have eaten it, no question!

Were going out out at the weekend to a friends for a meal. How do I keep hold of my willpower despite the booze. Or do I under eat in the next few days to build up ome spare ones?!

Dubai? Who's going to Dubai?!!!

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/01/2014 22:05

eighty is. On a work jolly!! Envy

Personally I like it not give my diet any thought when I'm out and would rather compensate on other days. It depends who I'm with really.

Glad you are still firmly on the wagon and hope dd gets better soon.

The weekend....I've offered to make cheesecake for pud. [hmmm] to a diet!
