And anyone else who wants to join in. The idea of this thread is a way to record weightloss, motivate each other, discuss which methods if any we are using to lose weight and give the occasional kick up the bum.

Right you lot. I was going to wait until new year to start this thread but I think that if I'm going to have my head in the right place to start, I need your help now. I haven't weighed yet I'll do that on the 1st but I think I probably have 2 1/2 stone to lose. Last time I had 3st to lose so I'm seeing that as a postitive.

So, are any of you still out there? Who'd like to join me? Xmas Grin

Another thought Hair . Another uni job I did was an exceptionally early paper round. When I got home from that I always had an egg for my breakfast and it really helped keep me full up in the morning when I'd be all tired at being up for so long.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/01/2014 10:35

Thanks reastie. Eggs sound like a good idea. I can't have a smoothie though because I can't face more than a cup of tea at that time of day.

Hi all. Just catching up with the last couple of days...

Kato - your son sounds like a total love to me. Mind you, when I was his age playgroup staff told my mum that I 'didn't suffer fools gladly' and a friend did once call my DD 'precocious', in a good way I think! I agree that all of what you've said sounds perfectly normal and in some cases praise-worthy behaviour at this age. Don't let it rattle you. And as for your exercise addiction - I'm forming an impression of you as some kind of superhero (these disco pants you mention, I presume you wear them outside your trousers?!)

Reastie - as Hair said, you know your DD better than anyone else, and are following and supporting her interests, so good on you!

Hair - wow, great NSVs! Go you. And cardi-rectomy, love it.

Northender - what you say of the Food Doctor makes a lot of sense to me - I seem to have cobbled most of those principles together, from different sources - off to look it up now.

Tobermory - aha!

I have discovered how to lose 2lbs overnight. Have godawful diarrhoea Sad . Think I might postpone tomorrows weigh in as it will give me a false loss.

StealthPolarBear · 26/01/2014 09:40

:( Reastie hope you're better soon

Thanks, alot better today thanks but very weak and wobbly. Never experienced Diarrhoea like it! Think it actually may have been caused by dratted hormones. I gave up bfing dd at night last month (it was the only thing to get her to sleep!) and my hormones have been all over the place since (I have crazy hormones at the best of times). I've heard from a couple of friends they had terrible diarrhoea after the period after stopping bfing so sounds plausable. Hope it doesn't come back and I don't get it next month though.

Well done 80 , maintain is good on a tough week.

I'm going with maintain for me this week but tbh I'm not sure after all the loo trips on Saturday. Didn't eat much yesterday and today I can feel it's a bottomless pit day with my appetite as I've got that painful hunger feeling in my tummy. Guess it's just getting back to normal after losing lots of stuff. Will try to be strong but tbh will go with the hunger a bit today.

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/01/2014 09:19

Morning everyone. I hope you're ok today reastie.

2lb off today. That's the 2lb I put on with all those nights out last week! Back to normal now I hope.

It's another busy week here. I have loads of work to do that I put off last week and dd has a million activities extra this week too. I'm hoping it will make me too busy to snack. Oh, and I have to find time to clean the bomb site that is my house.

Morning! Great job eighty and hair

reastie I'm joining you in the sick bay. Not sure if I mentioned but coil was removed a few weeks ago, and now AF had returned with a vengeance. Coupled with a massive coldsore and my turn with the family cold... I feel utterly dreadful!

I did weigh on Friday and had lost a pound, but this morning there's two on! Please tell me this is due to TOTM??

Bleurghhhh

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/01/2014 10:20

Oh Kato I'm sure it is because of totm. That was me last week. I hope you feel better soon.

Well done Eighty and Hair.
Sorry to hear you're suffering, Reastie and Kato.

I'm maintaining - by the skin of my teeth I suspect! Been a slog of a week, and another week and a half to my looming project deadline, but am feeling less grumpy and more on top of stress than I was this time a week ago, thank god. Have re-jigged mfp to give myself an allowance of 1480 cals a day rather than 1200, predicting 1lb a week rather than 1.5/2lb loss - and am going to try to squeeze in bit more exercise. Hopefully a bit more energy both in and out will help my current brain fog...

Slowly but surely and without a nervous breakdown, that's my new motto!

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/01/2014 12:14

Sounds like a good motto to me!

I never had a coil. The whole process never appealed to me in any way!!

Dh had a vasectomy after ds2 was born and it's liberating not having and hormones or anything else in my body. It's a route I would recommend highly as soon as you feel you are done having dcs. My periods took a while to settle down but I don't have any of the problems I experienced on the pill.

OP posts:
Reastie · 27/01/2014 13:21

I have a coil but it's not a hormone one (I refuse to take any more hormones!) so maybe if I have mine out the effects would be different . Hope you don't suffer too long. Stupid hormones! My coil gives me horrible heavy painful periods, but it's better for me than hormones! I'm working on getting DH to have a vasectomy and I reckon when my coil runs out (when I'll be 40) it will be a good chance for him to do it. Why should women have to cope with all this, I think men should have to put up with some pain too! Hair can I ask a completely Blush question I'm sure I should know the answer to and you'll Grin at me but when men have vasectomies do they, ahem, ejaculate as normal? DH and I were having this convo recently (oh the fun topic of conversation we have!) and he said he doesn't think he would as there would be no sperm so nothing to come out, I thought that couldn't quite be right there must be something but we weren't sure.... gah we're so sheltered and naive! I really should google not admit this to you all shouldn't I... No mess would be an extra bonus Wink

ifandwhen good motto!

Hair when are you next on the radio? I'm often awake at weird times of night and might tune in Grin

Another charity shop visit this morning, 2 new cardis and 2 new skirts (well, new to me). I don't think I'll lose a huge amount more, would just like to be more toned and look better in what I have.

KatoPotato · 27/01/2014 14:32

I must say my Mirena Coil has been terrific! I had no period whatsoever and no side effects. Happy to have it out, and actually delighted my AF has returned so quickly!

I had never tried to lose weight before I had it put in, so wonder if any weight will now fall off!

Just musing though, I'm not sure if actually I might be quite happy with my body now, I'm really quite toned, still a bit of belly fat I'd like gone, but overrall... I think I may actually for the very first time be content?

I geniunely enjoy my exercise and the odd treat, I've just scoffed a peanut butter chunky kitkat... but I'm allowed that to celebrate AF!?

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/01/2014 14:38

He does ejaculate as normal. Just like a man with zero sperm count. Everything looks and works exactly the same as before. I told dh that I had spent 16yrs of my life on the pill, 27 months pregnant and about 18 hrs in labour. It was definitely his turn! He couldn't really argue with 3 days discomfort after that! Grin

I'm on the radio on Sunday night/Monday morning as far as I know but it's always a bit subject to change. I'll let you know.

Your charity shops must be loads better than mine. I never find anything. I must check out the ones near dd's school. All the Man U and Man City wags send their dcs to her school and it's a hugely wealthy area. I live 15 miles away so not in their league.

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/01/2014 14:40

That's great to hear Kato! A real success. You seem to have got the balance that works for you. Just don't let it slide. Well done!

OP posts:
Reastie · 27/01/2014 15:19

Kato that's a HUUGGGEEEEE NSV to feel content. I feel the most content I ever have done, but not fully there yet. So, ahem, with this coil out, is there going to be a DC2 I wonder [cheeky]

Hair Blush , yes, of course, that makes total sense re: the sperm thing and of course I was right as always with my discussion with DH . Can't believe I even think about/don't know these things Blush . Let me know re: the radio thing. Do you get to vet the questions beforehand? I remember doing my school work experience at a certain BBC radio station and they had some kind of manners/etiquette person on one of the shows (a visiting regular type of guest I believe) and was surprised in the gaps for news etc she's go through all the questions and be very forceful about which ones she would answer (never knew if she didn't know the answer to all of them or if she just chose the ones she liked the best!). Re: charity shops, I'm becoming quite a connoisseur now Wink when I go into certain towns I know there are certain ones that are better than others. One I went in today happen to have all clothes half price so I got a lovely gap cardi for £1.50 as one of my finds. They had a gorgeous D&G coat for £7.50 in medium. And I am a medium and so wanted it to fit....but D&G medium is in normal peoples sizing most definitely a small (or even extra small) so didn't get it :(

KatoPotato · 27/01/2014 15:28

That's the plan reastie Wink

Jealous at your brillso charity shops!

Reastie · 27/01/2014 15:51

Grin Wink yay kato

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/01/2014 17:13

Ooh Kato, I never thought for a minute about your reason for taking the coil out. That's so exciting! Good luck.

I don't see any set questions reastie. We have a broad topic and a guest who is meant to be an expert. They try to find ones that have opposing views to mine to make it more interesting, but it is essentially a phone in so we have to respond to whatever comes up on the call, email or text. There are some right weirdos out there that don't get put through or read out though! You have to be on the ball but it's a lot of fun.

A good day here food wise. I'm on oat cakes for lunch so I'm still not staying away from the biscuits but I've come to the conclusion that it's what I put with it that counts.
