Here we go - nice, shiny new thread for a new week

A picnic would probably be easier for me. Ds2's diet is very limited so I'd probably have to bring something extra for him anyway.

JackieNo · 17/07/2006 12:58

There's Christ Church Meadow which is very central (haven't actually picknicked there, but will try to investigate at some stage). Have been to the University Parks before now - loads of space, but a bit further from the centre (especially for anyone coming by train). There's also the Botanic Garden , which I haven't been to for ages. You have to pay to get in (£2 for adults, children under 12 free I think), and it too is a bit away from the centre. I think I need to investigate Christ Church Meadow, as I suspect that would be the best.

hub2dee · 17/07/2006 14:13

< was just gonna say, Toadie, that you're always welcome if you're in town>

MrsJohnCusack · 17/07/2006 15:32

ooooh picnic sounds good

yes we can share suejonez . probably would be best in my car though as car seat for DD etc. plus then you could have some alcohol, doesn't matter to me as I am off the grog

Fri 18th sounds good to me.

suejonez · 17/07/2006 15:36

alcohol would be nice provided you dont mind me singing welsh rugby songs on the way back.

Fauve · 17/07/2006 16:33

I'll wait for the next one, when my kids are safely ensconced in school!

WigWamBam · 17/07/2006 17:58

Thanks, Hub

I'm surprised the train fares are so cheap, sue - bearing in mind it costs me over a fiver just to get to Coventry from here, and that's only 20 miles away!

OP posts:
suejonez · 17/07/2006 23:19

The trick is to book each single in a separate visit to thetrainline.com apparently

WigWamBam · 18/07/2006 12:45

As the guy in our local ticket office told me that the fare would be £37.25 for me and £18.50 for dd, I think I need to investigate further!!!!

Will have a look at thetrainline.com - thanks sue.

JackieNo · 18/07/2006 12:48

Blimey, WWB - that's quite steep.

WigWamBam · 18/07/2006 12:55

I know - if I can't get anything any cheaper, I shall have to have a rethink. I started looking at the website Sue mentioned and they seem to say £37.35 for a return ticket as well, but it crashed before I could check the single fares so I'll have to have another look later.

OP posts:
coppertop · 18/07/2006 13:00

Eek! Looks like I'd better check the fares before I say a definite yes.Under-5s are free (I think) so I'd just need to pay for me and ds1.

WigWamBam · 18/07/2006 13:02

Under 5s are definitely free, ct.

OP posts:
coppertop · 18/07/2006 13:09

Yay for free under-5s!

That site doesn't seem to like my computer at all. B*gger!

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:09

cheaper singles

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:10

where are you travelling from CT I'll have a look for you

coppertop · 18/07/2006 13:12

I'll be travelling from Peterborough. Thanks, Sue.

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:20

Prices from Peterborough are expensive CT, cheapest return is about £57 and the singles aren't any cheaper

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:23

return for WWB

but you need to leave pretty early to get cheapo £8 return ticket otehrwise it's £20 on the way back.

coppertop · 18/07/2006 13:25

Yikes! I might leave it till another time then. I shall be expecting to get a full report though.

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:27

Perhaps we could do a London meet up next? Then after that one in New Zealand?

JackieNo · 18/07/2006 13:29

Maybe a pre-Christmas one in London, or maybe see how you're doing with your LO, suejonez, and when you feel ready to do one.

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:35

Lets try for a pre-Xmas one in London though when it comes to it people may be too busy. I'm hoping to be pretty settled by then so may be venturing out of the house!

JackieNo · 18/07/2006 13:36

But still do Oxford on August 18th?

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:39

yes, just though CT might to able to do London more easily from Petereborough and was giving her something to look forward to (like she has nothing else but the BigMOFo's!!!)
