Millywe tried your curry tonight and it was lovely thank you! I did put in extra onions as we love them. It was easy to make a mild and creamy version for the Dcs and a more spicy version for DH and I. Lovely, just lovely. Thank you! I like the sweetness the apple and apricots gave too.

Mmmmm. Actually I stuffed myself full. Grin

MillyJones · 09/04/2014 20:56

TheRealAmandaClarke · 09/04/2014 22:07

I think I'll try that recipe of milly thanks.
We're much better thank you. But omg it's been tough. DS has so far managed to avoid it but I'm not us how. We're on strict inction control methods ATM.
Eating ok.
Ish.

MillyJones · 09/04/2014 22:28

Ooooo where did you get Maple and pecan biscuits?

TheRealAmandaClarke · 10/04/2014 06:35

M&S Milly

SlightlyDampWellies · 10/04/2014 06:45

Morning all.

Thanks Amanda. You sound like you have been put through it. Hope things get very better very quickly indeed.

Milly the curry was gorgeous. DH asked if we can 'put this into our regular rotation'. Grin so that will mean we will have it about every 2 weeks. I am more than happy with that! Yum. Thank you.

Me yesterday:

B- ham coleslaw and salad sandwich
L- same
S- 2 packs wotsits. 3 easter bunnies.
D- chicken curry!

Drinks- loads of diet lemonade, tonic water and herbal teas.

Hope everyone is fine. Is it sunny where you all are? I have promised the DCs that if I can get my work done I will take them to the beach for an icecream and a play in the park later this afternoon. It might be chilly, but I am determined to get out if I can!

TheRealAmandaClarke · 15/04/2014 20:35

Hey FRs.
We're ok thanks (fingers crossed) and back to normal chaos Grin
I managed a mini fast yesterday (b: nothing, l: nothing, d: risotto, yogurt)
I have snacked today Blush
Going to fast tomorrow. It's best if I stay out of dinner arrangements so I've left something for dh and dcs.
I went for a swim this morning and am considering c25k.
Get me!
Onwards and downwards.

Hazelbrowneyes · 16/04/2014 08:35

Hi all!

Hope you’re all well. Well done on the mini fast Amanda and the swimming! I’ve done c25k once and then discovered I really, really dislike running Grin

Milly you’ve just reminded me of how much I love Lion Bars Envy

Wellies super sunny here still, although I see the forecast for Sunday is light rain. Boo. Had planned to have family over and be in the garden. Now need to rethink the menu as BBQ is probably off the table now!

As for me? Meh. Been a tough week. I’ve got the court date through for the small claims thing (September!) and I’ve got a VAT inspection next month, which will be fine but it’s more work to do during one of my busiest months. DH is in a terrible mood as work is too busy and he’s just not himself. We’re working 11 hour days at the moment so we’re both a bit jaded. All good intentions of exercising have gone out the window as I’m just so knackered. Really getting fed up of my stomach though, so I’m going to have to do something.

Last week was awful for food but I did manage to lose 2lbs. I expect to put that (and more to be honest) back on this week. I went shopping on Saturday and treated myself to a new pair of jeans. I didn’t pay much attention to the size and just bought the ones that felt like they were the most comfortable.

So far this week:
Monday: cornflakes w/ skimmed milk, greek salad with falafel, seabass with samphire, purple sprouting broccoli and salad, mini cheddars, twix mix and a glass of milk

Tuesday: frusili bar, tuna and sweetcorn sandwich, egg fried rice with mixed veg, TWO packets of low fat crisps, THREE (small) slices of St Clement’s drizzle cake (homemade, natch)

Today:
B – frusili bar
L – tuna and sweetcorn pasta
D – I think DH is having sardines so I’ll have fishfingers Grin

I’m going to go food shopping today or tomorrow and I’m going to get my life in order. I am fed up of eating crap.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 16/04/2014 17:41

Hugs ((hazel))
Fasting today.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 23/04/2014 20:19

How are you all? I hope everyone had a good Easter, with some rest and some chocolate.
Shall I go first? You will be rightly ashamed of me.
Remember when you started this thread wellies? And it was "stop bingeing and start eating healthily"? Well. I have rewritten that mantra (omitting several words) and since the end of lent its been simply "binge" Easter Blush
I gave up chocolate for lent and have been steadfastly working my way through 72 Easter eggs since Sunday.
That is only a slight exaggeration btw. Grin
I did put some vegetables in the beef curry today though.
Shit, I need a gastric band fasting day as a matter of urgency.
Blush

TheRealAmandaClarke · 26/04/2014 08:21

H dear.
Are you all hiding because you're still ploughing through the Easter chocolate that you can't stop eating until its all gone from the house?

Or is that just me Blush

Hazelbrowneyes · 26/04/2014 12:28

Yes, definitely in hiding. I have eaten SO much chocolate, I'm beginning to feel a bit sick yet can't stop bloody eating it

Work is mental, still not drinking , but only lost 2 sodding lbs because OF ALL THE CHOCOLATE.

I'd planned a healthy weekend but I've just remembered we're out for lunch with friends tomorrow so that'll be a huge roast dinner followed by dessert for me then!

Permission to start again on 1st May?

TheRealAmandaClarke · 26/04/2014 17:03

Permission granted Hazel Grin
The amount of chocolate is insane. Troubles, although I'm sick of it, every day I want more.
Very well done with the no drinking Hazel that is very impressive.
Tonight were having spaghetti bolognaise.
Tomorrow, no idea. But there will be chocolate.
I will fast on Monday. Quite looking forward to it actually.

But am sleep training dd so very tired ATM.

Hazelbrowneyes · 28/04/2014 14:41

Thanks Amanda Grin

Still stuffing chocolate down my neck despite not being hungry. Am a fool.

Still not had a drink. Feeling super virtuous. Just a shame I've not lost weight thanks to the effing chocolate

How is sleep training going? Poor you, being so tired Sad

I have today managed to consume a disgusting amount of food.
Rice krispies
Frusili bar
Packet of S&V squares
A can of Heinz big soup
A packet of white chocolate buttons
One of the "egg and spoon" things

Curry for dinner tonight.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 03/05/2014 20:24

Right. After coming down off all that chocolate Shock
I havent fasted. Grrrr.
But i remembered wellies original wise thread and today- no bingeing.
I ate muesli for b rather than forty pieces of white buttery toast and marmalade

And I've eaten some melon. And a tiny bit of pata salad (while making dcs lunch) and a fishfnger. And about ten French fries. Blush
Dh has bought a curry. So I'll be having some of that but just a little. And a glass of wine.
I wanted to fast on Monday but the BH might have screwed that up.

SlightlyDampWellies · 05/05/2014 19:48

Hi everyone,

Sorry for getting my Advanced Diploma in Vanishing From The Thread.

I just lost all motivation about everything. Life universe, everything. Work was hard, and I took a MN hiatus. But, back now.

I also ate my bodyweight in chocolate over easter. Awful.

Back now on a healthy eating, largely animal-free regime. Also still off the booze (mostly!). Way to go Hazel!!!

have been having the most gorgeous breakfasts lately in a bid to get inspired about healthy eating rather than dieting IYSWIM;

cooked brown rice, light coconut milk, raisons, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and maple syrup. OMG. I could eat it every day.

So how is life with everyone?

TheRealAmandaClarke · 06/05/2014 20:00

Hey wellies
It's great to see our esteemed leader. Sorry you've been feeling low.
I hope things are picking up. You always seem so busy.
Your breakfast sounds amazing. It was hard to read that on a fasting day.
Yes, that's right, you read it correctly, I did a fast! Just about to have some soup. It's been ages and I really needed it.
I forget how good it feels.
I now need to plan a nourishing lunch for tomorrow. My aim is to skip breakfast, have a nice brunch and enjoy dinner.
Onwards and sideways for a bit downwards!

How you doing hazel?

And a nod to milly, lego, twinkle, shoes, baking...
Did I forget anyone?

SlightlyDampWellies · 08/05/2014 09:55

Hello Amanda! How are the fasting days going? You sounded very chipper. :)

I am going along okay. I think I may be able to report a weightloss tomorrow. I have been having salads for lunch, and have not gone amd on chocolate. Last night I had more of Milly's curry. Mmm. Have that tonight too. Gorgeous.

I am about ready to start exercising also. (Not right now- it's tipping it down). But plan to drag the bike out.

Hope everyone is well!

BindibachMilly · 08/05/2014 23:07

Hi ladies , sorry I have been absent. Had lots on but am going to get back onto my mindful eating. So, it would seem most of you got stuck in a binge cycle with the easter eggs....ha ha. So many eggs, so little time.

Me today...

Bacon, egg, mushrooms and beans

5 squares (or so) of Dark Chocolate with Raspberries

Tender chicken breast grilled with lemon wedges with garlic lemon butter poured over served on a bed of mixed leaves, coriander, mint and spring onion with olive oil, balsalmic and maple dressing drizzled over.

Creamy greek yoghurt with bashed banana , chopped pecans and drizzled with Australian honey.

Glad you are liking the curry.....its one of my favourite meals too.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 09/05/2014 06:45

Hi
Good too "see" you both.
Fasting days are great. But a bit like going to the gym in that I tend to put them off, then when I have a FD I feel great. I fasted on Tuesday and loved it, but I still can't manage any kind of mindful eating on a NFD.none.
I am comfort eating and mindlessly posting food into my cake hole.
I'm attempting a FD today, but be warned, I am extremely tired and in quite a bad mood, which sometimes makes it harder. Really, the only problem with fasting is the psychological hurdle of deprivation (as with all dietsi guess) and its only for 2 days a week. The actual hunger is entirely manageable and I definitely feel alert and calm on a FD,rather than the sluggish feeling from grazing/ over eating.

Oops. Monologue.

SlightlyDampWellies · 10/05/2014 07:18

Good morning!i am always interested in what you say about fasting Amanda. I am scared to try it- worried it ill slide into the binge cycle i go on.

I can report a 2 pound weightloss! But yesterday I ate silly amounts.

Milly I am making your curry pretty much weekly. Grin It is just so delicious.

Me today- I am about to do a menu plan. I bought some second hand vegetarian books for children, as I really need to up the veg component for the DCs.

Thanks everyone!

TheRealAmandaClarke · 10/05/2014 08:17

Well done on those 2lb wellies
Ime bingeing is no more likely with fasting than with any ther woe.
In fact, it seems less likely in a way, because rather than trying to "diet" for five to seven as a week, it's only for two.
And the act of fasting reminds me that hunger is not harmful (well, not for a day IYSWIM) and that It induces a sense of calm in me.
I'm still prone to bingeing. I think it's a throwback to my hedonistic hays of smoking/ drinking etc. But I don't seem to do it any more with 5:2.
I'm ptty evangelical about 5:2 tbh. I find it vy convenient. It does require some willpower at certain points and Im getting mo aware of the danger spots but today I'm not fasting.
Personally I think I still need to work on the mindful eating on NFDs.

BindibachMilly · 10/05/2014 11:29

Hi

I do naturally fast, usually I will have my last meal in the evening at about 10.00 (we eat late) and then probably wont eat till 1.00pm the next afternoon. But that is my natural way and if I tried to fast as in going very low calorie for a day I would be in danger of going into binge mode myself. I know if works for some but for me it would bring on my disordered eating.

Me Yesterday...

one rasher or grilled bacon with scrambled Burford Brown eggs (god they are amazing) in Welsh salty butter.

No lunch

DH took me to the cinema to see Love Punch for the second time. I love Emma Thompson !! Don't think DH likes the film but he likes doing things to make me happy. He has been so very busy over the last year with work and preparing for promotion that we don't get much time to do things together so the Cinema (we have those year passes) is our treat and date night thing.

We also went to our favourite Cantonese in the evening and had
Duck pancakes with that wonderful sauce
Mixed Vegetables
King Prawns with sesame seeds in honey and lemon sauce

(DH had rice)

Then home and I had some dark chocolate brazil nuts.

Yum.

BindibachMilly · 11/05/2014 01:00

Me today...
ground almonds, ground mixed seeds and ground walnuts and pecans with fresh strawberries, a drizzle of honey and some milk

Burford Egg (god im loving the flavour of these eggs) omelette filled with cheese, peppers, spring onions, tomatoes and mixed leaves.

Coconut Chicken Curry with yoghurt, fresh mint and fresh coriander (as a salad)

Somerset brie with apple and pear

lots of tea

couple of dark chocolate brazil nuts

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.Smile

TheRealAmandaClarke · 11/05/2014 06:35

Milly I love your menus. So delicious and "mindful" it's such a good way to eat isn't it.
NFD yesterday, but I thought I'd try OT skip lunch because I relish the feeling of actually being hungry before I eat my next meal IYSWIM. And it's so easy to snack and never feel hungry.
B: bacon and egg with toast and coffee.
L: nothing. Went to the hairdressers instead (that's four hours I'm not getting back in my life,no wonder I don't go very often)
D: moussaka, salad, choc brownie (homemade with ds)
Drinks: three glasses of wine Blush
