Welcome to thread 13 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those Christmas outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for Christmas and The New Year!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we wont be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process :) so get stuck in :)

Hello all. Sorry for the delay, been away visiting DH's Nan. Ok so here's my
__
Fresh start sounds good to me :)

I've had a few days off the shred because I hurt my knee (tripped over my shoe lace while holding Faithlet and jarred it) but I'm better now. I'm toying between starting level 2 and going for a run outside since it's such a nice day. I really need to refocus on Pauling, back to basics of chewing and listening to the CD.

I don't want Christmas this year because afterwards means back to work, boo! :(

MillyRules · 01/12/2013 11:59

Solo ....humbug ....

MillyRules · 01/12/2013 12:06

Morningish Faith sorry about your knee. I don't run anymore now, I go for walks up the mountain next to me instead.
Solo I'm 50. DH used to be into bikes and had one until 1996. I used to love going on the back. My boyfriend befor DH was into them too. DH was on the motorbikes for his job when we lived in London. BMWs.

Jellybean456 · 01/12/2013 12:22

Hi All

I used to hate Christmas too Solo, but my reasons were that I always linked Christmas with children and a happy time. I tried unsuccessfully for years to have children before I finally had my DD, three years ago after 20 years of trying, various cycles of ivf, operations, and cost in the region of £20000, stress, marriage and relationship breakdowns.

In the end Christmas became unbearable for me until I finally had my miracle baby via ivf three years ago when I was 46 years of age.

MillyRules · 01/12/2013 12:43

Wow Jelly that was a lot to go through. Faith struggled too I think ??

My children are 21 and 23 now and I am 50. I Loved Christmas when they were young. My daughter loves Christmas and has been playing Christmas music in her car for weeks....bless. My fav Christmas song of ALL time is Simply having a wonderful Christmas time by Wings. I get so excited when I hear it. I remember when it came out in the Eighties.

Solo · 01/12/2013 13:43

Oh goodness! I too had 12 years before my first conception. Ended in mmc sadly, but 2 years later at age 34 I had Ds, then at aged almost 43 I had Dd. Dd was born on Boxing Day.

I'm not sure why I hate Christmas tbh. I haven't put a tree up since 2007, I don't put cards up, hardly give or send any cards these days. I just don't know why :( could be because I'm on my own, despite having relationships (ha bloody ha!) with men by by, I think it it may be because I'm lonely ah well. The worst part of it is not creating fabulous childhood memories for my children. I feel bad about that actually.

OP posts:
Solo · 01/12/2013 13:45

I think I want someone to love me and care for me. Not in the way of me totally relying on someone else but I haven't felt loved and cared about for decades.

Solo · 01/12/2013 13:46

And HALF that is a beautifully straight line! how did you do it?! Wink

Solo......x

FaithTheVampireSlayer · 01/12/2013 14:41

solo I was worried it would look rubbish because I'm on my phone!

Yes our journey to parenthood was longer than some - 2 years 8 months. Turned out DH had a reversible fertility problem. It took a while to identify the problem but I did conceive naturally (while losing weight to go on the IVF waiting list). So nothing compared to you ladies! But yes we are excited about Faithlet's first Christmas [tchsmile]

MillyRules · 01/12/2013 14:42

Where are your children Solo if you don't mind me asking.

Solo · 01/12/2013 14:51

They are here. Live with me I mean. Why?
I haven't had a relationship for over 5 years. They all cheat, treat me appallingly or use me. No more though, it's just me and the kids...

Yes HALF I was just at the top of the IVF list too when I separated with exh and took up with a loser Ds's father.

OP posts:
MillyRules · 01/12/2013 14:54

Sorry thought your children didn't live with you. You said that you didn't put a tree up and didn't know why and then said maybe it's cause your on your own....I thought you meant alllll alone Smile . Don't your kids want , demand a tree????Smile

MillyRules · 01/12/2013 15:17

DH goes to the coed ( forest) every Christmas to get a tree. I adore the smell and feel very emotional. Growing up in Aus. all we had was a small plastic tree and it was sooo very hot. I used to imagine how lovely it would be to be in Britain with all its Christmas traditions.

Solo · 02/12/2013 00:52

No, not allll alone, just lonely. Ds just grunts at me or is rude or demanding or eating! Dd plays or argues with Ds and sometimes cuddles up with me, but it's still a lonely life for me :( and sexless.

I have a tree in the loft, but I find it too much trouble to get it down and decorate it and I am the only one allowed to decorate it btw! and anyway, my house is a complete tip so I can't fit it in anywhere anyway.

Bah humbug!

OP posts:
MillyRules · 02/12/2013 02:57

Solo poor you. Have you given up on all men??? You are in your prime. Get a real tree and let the kids decorate it with only the decorations you give them. How bad could it be?? Go on, do it different this year, small changes and all that. Grin

Jellybean456 · 02/12/2013 12:29

Hi Solo and Milly

Sorry to hear you feel so lonely Solo. Have you tried dating sites etc. I have in the past. It's the way to date these days. However I met my DH at work, not via a dating site.

We decorated our tree yesterday. DD loved it. I felt a little sad though thinking of past memories.

I know I should'nt, but I weighed myself this morning and have lost 7lbs since last week. Was really surprised, expecting the scales to have moved upwards rather than downwards. So I must be doing something right.

MillyRules · 02/12/2013 13:22

YaY!!!!!!!!!!!!Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
Go Jelly Go JellySmile Smile
We'll done you. Proud of you.

MillyRules · 02/12/2013 13:26

Have any of you read the reviews on Amazon for PM gastric band and ICMYT ... some inspiring people on there. Jelly you are doing it right, please keep listening to cd and don't go of course ....it's easily done.....just keep to the wonderful simple eating rules.

Jellybean456 · 02/12/2013 16:17

Hi Milly

Gonna check those reviews out. Well, I bought some fruit and nuts, and some cheese Nairn oatcakes today to keep in my bag when out and about. Could have done with them yesterday.

I am no longer wanting to eat the chocolate in doors. Yesterday fancied something savoury rather than chocolate and biscuits. At the moment, we are stacked high indoors with biscuits and chocolate. Amazing that I don't fancy them now, so that is another new revelation for me.

However, I know if I fancy them when I'm hungry I can have them if I want to.

MillyRules · 02/12/2013 16:26

That's what its like for me Jelly. I have all the foods in my kitchen that I love. Loads of Green and Blacks Chocolate, Galaxy and Cadburys Fruit and Nut Bars. Oat bars. Sun dried mango and pianapple. Galaxy cake bars (they are divine) and Mini battenburgs. BUT.....and here is the thing......I don't eat them much at all. If the kids or DH eats them then I just restock. As long as I have the things I love then I feel calm and can take them or leave them. So opposite of the diet mentality.
I also have lots of pecans, walnuts, almonds, bananas, avocados, melon, apples, tomatoes, leaves, broccoli, carrots etc. chicken, salmon, cheeses of all kinds, salty Welsh butter, cream etc etc etc.
I eat loads of fruit and veg because I love them, always have.

MillyRules · 02/12/2013 23:18

Solo how are you feeling tonight. Is your cough getting any better? Do you think that this virus is making you feel a bit low at the moment, I know I feel blah about stuff when I have a virus. Anyway, hope you are feeling a little bit better. Smile

Solo · 03/12/2013 00:00

Hello all!
Wow! Jelly! well done you!! Grin doesn't it give you a boost?!!

I'm still coughing away here ~ literally as I type! I don't think I'm low atm or any lower than usual. I haven't sworn off all men, but they just swerve by me and I think it'd take a brave man to try to get near me!
Tried dating sites and I just can't be bothered!

Have eaten more today, but hoping it wont have had an adverse effect on my poundage!

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 03/12/2013 15:21

Hi all. Jelly major congrats on the weightloss, sounds like you're really getting to grips with this.

Solo sorry you're feeling low. On the plus side only 4 more weeks and Christmas will be a dim and distant memory and you can throw yourself into your house project. And you've got so many opportunities now you've left your job, I think 2014 will be a really exciting time for you.

I've not had a good couple of weeks, haven't done any emotional eating (my main prob) just been eating mindlessly so can feel my trousers getting tighter. Think I need to get back into the habit of listening to the cd every day and was thinking might time myself to see how quickly I eat when not being mindful, so then have a target for 4 times slower as definitely eat too quickly. Going to follow your advice too Milly and stock the cupboards with everything I fancy to neutralise food's power over me.

Faith I love 30 day shred! Who'd have thought just 20 minutes exercise could be so exhausting!

MillyRules · 03/12/2013 15:27

NoGood I manage to maintain most of the time its only when I start to even think of being overweight that I start to overeat and lose control over my mindful eating. Keep listening to the cd, every day if you can, definitely helps me. I started listening again recently and already the change is showing. Losing again and not overly hungry much and satisfied with very little. Of course having all the food I love around me always stops me craving or bingeing.
