The Paul McKenna Thread Number 13 ~ the Good Luck Number! A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Solo · 11/09/2013 14:49

Welcome to thread 13 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those Christmas outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for Christmas and The New Year!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we wont be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process :) so get stuck in :)

Hi Milly

Just read your post after I posted. Yes, everything that you are saying is so right, and what I have been thinking.

The only diets that have ever worked for me are the vlcd meal replacements and weight watchers, but I can't maintain them, and the recent vlcd for me was quite damaging mentally, and I think is still there a bit.

I found it very difficult to look at food in a normal way. It was like the only way I could stay thin was to carry on replacing food with these powder shakes, which cannot be good as a lifetime thing.

The fast diet was as Veryberry said a wobble moment for me too.

I am overheating, and seem to have become fixated on the eat what you want rule ( chocs and sweets and puddings), more so tha the other rules.

I feel more relaxed today, and found myself turning to healthier foods.

MillyRules · 26/11/2013 21:53

In the early days you might overeat more because you are finally allowing yourself to let go of "diet" mentality. Don't beat yourself up about it. Eventually all those chocs, cakes etc will find their place in your normal eating. Just keep at it day by day and come on the thread and get motivation. Quite a few of us have lost weight eating just this way (PM) and it really takes time. Some people regain it but they freely admit that they had stopped eating like a slim person. So they then overeat rather than stopping when they feel satisfied. Its really abusive in a way to eat when your not properly hungry and then we end up eating more cause we feel soooo bad.
Very low cal diets are just evil. You pay money for rubbish shakes with fake vitamins in. Your hair can fall out. You feel dizzy etc.
I also will immediately start to overeat if I even think of dieting so .....
please please please just keep taking it day by day. Be more conscious and come on here and we can help.

Jellybean456 · 27/11/2013 08:46

Thanks Milly

So not going to think of diets now!!

We'll did a reboot last night, and have started listening to the PM I can make you thin one rather than the gastric band.

Can honestly say that I don't recall any of it after counting backwards from 300.

Have had brekkie this morning, and ate consciously. I was'nt hungry yet, but am going to little one's pre nursery all morning.

I also feel it wards off the migraines eating now rather than leaving it too long ( blood sugars etc).

But won't eat now until feel hungry, will just drink teas and coffees.

MillyRules · 27/11/2013 10:18

I get migraines when I dont eat too Jelly . How on earth did you manage vlcd and 5: 2 ....I would have been laid out with migraines eating very little.Shock

DoctorWhoPrefersToFlySolo · 27/11/2013 13:29

Hi Ladies :)
Listen, I think we need everyone on this thread (I don't mean everyone, but the ones that are doing the PMK woe and those that have been successful). I think that we need pp and if she mentions the things she uses to help her and you aren't interested, then take no notice! no one has to after all :). I don't! and I did try the blood group thing and cut out pork/pork products. I didn't feel the difference, so felt it wasn't for me or necessary, but no one has to listen to any one person do they?!
I'm trying to be kind here and I don't want to see people leave through any kind of conflict. Everyone is lovely on here ~ everyone :)
So, I'm going to PM pp and ask her to return.
Let's just use each other for support and advice. Let's get slim together!

MillyRules · 27/11/2013 17:16

Fair enough Solo. To be fair pp has lost her weight using The Blood Group Diet and The Hay Diet with PM on top. Ok , each to their own but when I have been trying so hard to NOT diet and have asked for help she tries to suggest that if I ate the her " healthy" way that I should see a change. I struggle like others to Not go back to Diets. This is hard enough but when she is suggesting that I cut out certain food groups or some other faddy way of eating then that puts me right back to feeling confused again. PM is about eating normally. A few have left cause of this. . I have enjoyed this thread, been on it a year now but do feel that PP continually saying she loses weight through PM and her idea of healthy eating is off putting and confusing. Also telling people that olive oil and some spice will help weight loss is just not what I believe PM to be about. Good Luck to all of you and I hope you all succeed. Grin

Jellybean456 · 27/11/2013 21:02

Milly, I hope that is not a goodbye! I personally want to keep away from other diets, other than PM if I can.

You have really helped me on this thread, and helped keep me here, and not go back onto some fad diet.

I am already getting wobbles whilst thinking of going back to dieting, and it's messing with my mind and making me confused.

Let's just keep it simple and do it the PM way, and no other diets involved, as I can deal with that. I agree with you on that Milly. This thread is after all to do with PM.

My issues are around my overeating, which I have to use all of the PM tools to work with.

If I wanted to get thin, I could, and have quite easily done so on the Vlcd. However it is not sustainable, or long term, and has given me psychological issues around real food.

I am still recovering from that, and I really think that is why I have gained. Going back on another diet for me would just be going back onto the merry go round that is dieting. I need to get off the merry go round once and for all.

Just read an earlier post from you Milly that I missed. I have changed the way I buy food now, and will buy whatever I fancy. I steer clear of diet and low fat foods, and also sweeteners. I can look on that now and see this as me getting back to normal eating thanks to PM.

I enjoy my food much more now by tasting it properly and conciously. Some foods I used to eat, I have discovered I no longer like since tasting them properly. Foods like ready meals, instant mash etc. We have got loads of weight watcher meals stacked up in the freezer that are going to be thrown out.

MillyRules · 28/11/2013 00:09

That's exactly it Jelly I could get slim on any weird way of eating BUT I don't want to eat in a disordered way, I want to just be normal. Normal where I don't have to over think food at all and just eat whatever I am truly hungry.
Diets and fads like 5:2, VLCD, Harcombe,Atkins,Hay, Dukan, Blood Group ,Weight Watchers, Slimming World all promise to prevent all sorts of illnesses but all they really do is make you unable to do the simplist thing in our life....Eat. It's utter madness and it scares me how hard it is for us to keep away from them. They are like drugs with promises that you will feel happier and life will be wonderful and you will be healthier than ever if you do them.

This year doing PM I have finally found peace from the pain of feeling that I will be better if I lose lots of weight. I am losing weight slowly after the initial stone, but not yo yo ing at all. Smile

DoctorWhoPrefersToFlySolo · 28/11/2013 00:46

Hi again :)
I have heard from pp and perhaps she'll return after Christmas.

I have pledged to never 'diet' again. In the past I have used The Hip and Thigh diet, which worked very well and the weight stayed off. I was in my mid 20's back then, but when I tried it again in my 40's, I found it didn't work. The Atkins diet was less about losing weight and more about trying to gain more energy as I have ME/CFS and it has left me knackered. It gave me two weeks of extra energy (which felt great) and I lost half a stone which of course, crept back on. I also have used successfully The Fat Flush Diet. But I don't want to be tied into not eating what I want, so I won't do it again.
PMK is the best way to lose weight imo and once I've got my head around it again, I'll be off!!! I was going to try his gastric band thing, but when I went to get the DVD out, it was missing, so I can't do that :(

So! let's chew mindfully only the foods we want to eat, and only when we are really hungry, chewing each mouthful at least 20 times and stop when we are full, leaving at least a mouthful on the plate.

MillyRules · 28/11/2013 01:17

Solo its not the she mentions what works for her she implies that her diet is the healthiest way to eat and when I ask for help on the thread or others do, the Blood Group Diet is mentioned again. I have put down about why I have spoken out in my last couple of posts.

Jellybean456 · 28/11/2013 09:39

Well this morning enjoyed breakfast. Nearly read this thread while finishing off, but closed my eyes instead, chewing slowly until food was finished.

Doctor(Solo)- I did the PM thin trance the other night, and although both are good the gastric one works better for me. I seem to feel fuller quicker when I've done the gastric one.

Got to work at not eating until I'm hungry. This is my goal today!!

MillyRules · 28/11/2013 10:51

Jelly I prefer the gastric one too. Feel fuller quicker.

DoctorWhoPrefersToFlySolo · 28/11/2013 13:50

Rules I just want the thread to work at support for all and to keep the peace. Pp means well and I think when you find something that works for you you can become a bit Evangelical about it ~ I have done this myself with Hip and Thigh and Fat Flush and got over enthusiastic about telling everyone in years gone by. Personally, I like to hear about different approaches as long as no one is telling me that I can't eat for 2 days out of 7 or that I have to cut out potatoes or the like, so I get what you are saying, but I also get why pp spreads her word too.
As I said before, we don't have to follow what anyone types up on this thread that doesn't fall in with the PMK way unless we want to, so let's just all follow Paul... after me, cos he is mine!!! Wink

Jelly good on you for not mnetting whilst eating! :) keep up the good work!

Rules I need a DVD don't I?!

MillyRules · 28/11/2013 15:33

Solo I have had my rant and I agree. I was genuine though when I said it would be lovely if pp came back as I miss her morning messages.

Anyway onto other stuff....are you saying you fancy Paul.???? lol.

I'm being a bit thick here though....what do you mean about the DVD....please explain only I don't understand Sad . Smile

DoctorWhoPrefersToFlySolo · 28/11/2013 16:45

Well, hopefully pp will return! she is a lovely breath of fresh air in her morning posts isn't she?! :)

Yes, I do fancy the man! Blush

The CD says before you listen to the CD, you must watch the DVD. The book says there should be one, but I don't have it :( so haven't listened to the CD yet!

MillyRules · 28/11/2013 18:25

Oooooo....do you mean the gastric band one?
I havnt watched the DVD.....just listen to the band one and then once listened to I skip to the trance for continued insertion adjustment. Its about 25 mins. I find it really really good and I do have trouble overeating a meal because of it. Jelly said the same.

And O M G !!!! Didn't know you fancied Paul....haha!!! I definitely do not so he is alllllll yours. In fact that man is unattached actually.

Yes it was lovely to fire up the phone or laptop in the morning and pp post was waiting. Some days it would just be her and me on thread for a while.

Jellybean456 · 28/11/2013 21:37

Hi All

Solo- I'm sure the DVD is about how to do the havening technique, which is very similar to the tapping technique in PMICMYT. I'll get the book and discs out to check, and let you know when I next post.

Milly- I usually now just do the band trance. The intro I only did the first time. Actually feel like listening to it again tonight.

Night all.

Ps. How do you get the smileys up using an iPad?

MillyRules · 29/11/2013 00:57

I don't know Jelly im on a laptop...soz!

DoctorWhoPrefersToFlySolo · 29/11/2013 01:27

Listen Rules! I've been on my own for many years now, so I can fancy Paul McKenna if I like!! Blush

Thanks for letting me know about DVD when you check (if that makes sense! Confused

MillyRules · 29/11/2013 02:08

he he!!!!

Jellybean456 · 29/11/2013 09:26

Bananas, fruit and nuts, Nairns cheesy oat cakes are what I keep with me.Grin

FaithTheVampireSlayer · 29/11/2013 14:51

Hello all. I have dropped off this thread. I have to be honest (since it's come up recently) and say I've found things said on here have made me rather uncomfortable. In particular the way the confrontation with pp but also when I said about going on anti-depressants. I felt I had to defend my choice (which wasn't an easy one to make). I'd previously felt supported in this group but both these things unnerved me and given that I've been wobbly anyway I felt it was wise to take a step back. I'm still not sure how I feel but I think I will lurk for a bit.

On a personal level I'm doing much better. Much more stable emotionally. Faithlet is sleeping well in the day and I'm managing to do the 30 day shred most days while she naps :)

MillyRules · 29/11/2013 15:56

Well Faith pp made a sweeping comment about you on antidepressants didn't she? I feel very wobbly myself when pp talks about cutting out foods to make me healthier and to try the blood group diet on a regular basis. Some of us have very disordered eating and are doing this to try and eat normally. pp s comments seriously derail me and make me think that this way alone won't work. Then I feel bad and look at diets again and feel even worse. To me its confusing and unhelpful.

Faith I hope you find your happy and that you get where you want to be and that everyone else does too. I won't be contributing anymore.

Solo · 29/11/2013 17:55

This is daft! pp has gone Rules so I can't see the need for you to go too :( that's not necessary surely?!

HALF it's nice to see you again :) ad's are obviously necessary for many people. I've had the need of them myself on many occasions in years gone by; it's nothing to be ashamed of at all.

I'm glad you are coping better :) and it would be lovely to have you back to contributing on here. I'm a bit envious of your exercise regime too!
