Welcome to thread 13 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those Christmas outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for Christmas and The New Year!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we wont be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process :) so get stuck in :)

Morning All Happy Halloween Halloween Grin Halloween Grin Oh I like trick or treating Halloween Grin can you guess? For the first time we had TOTers last year so I'm picking a pumpkin from our back field and doing the thang tonight also bought sweets for them yesterday!!

WRF drinking I don't reckon the odd glass of red wine is going to harm you or the P.M. woe Halloween Grin

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 11:09

jellybean sounds good with the hypno band. Are you going to listen to it regularly? Some think it's best to do it a couple of times a week in the beginning. If I were you I would start doing the four golden rules with it though so that you don't overeat. Once you tune into your true hunger and stop as soon as you are satisfied then you hopefully won't get that overfull feeling.Grin

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 11:12

Morning pp. Bless with the pumpkin and sweets. That's a nice thing to do for the kids. We don't get any callers as we are too rural. Smile

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2013 11:25

Hi Milly How's the rebooting P.M. going?

welcome billyjean we don't mind you joining at all that's what we're here for Halloween Grin. As well as Milly says tuning in properly to your body (it takes a while to get over old habits) it's useful to remember the 'have a glass of water or green tea' rule if you have that hungry feeling straight after you eat too.

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 12:13

One pound of fat gone ppGrin
The drink after a meal is a brilliant tip.....I started doing it last week when you suggested it. Wink

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 12:16

hahaha omg how did I manage to turn Billyjean into Jellybean.....bit of dyslexic thinking going on there Wink

Billyjean123 · 31/10/2013 12:33

Thanks, I rather like the name jellybean, and may change it to that. I am following the 4 rules alongside the gastric band, as you have to. I have been doing the water thing, however I was having it beforehand, but may change it to afterwards. I would like to eat my food and enjoy it first becoming full I think.

I have just had a magnum with my cheese and ham toastie, as was not quite satisfied. Hope i am doing this right. Feel good now

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 12:53

Jelly Wink When you eat following the rules and chewing about 20 times pp s advice) then you find that you eventually don't always eat the whole toastie or the whole Magnum. For me eating half a toastie works then I have a feeling of satisfaction in my tummy, not full. Same with a magnum, I generally get the mini ones as I am satisfied with half a big one. Once you treat all food as equal then you find you start to be able to leave food on your plate rather than finishing it just because it's there.Smile

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 12:54

You might have to call yourself ....Jellybean 2468 or something if jellybean is taken Wink

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 13:10

and defo don't have water first.....unless your thirsty Grin. the aim of this woe is to enjoy all food conciously not to try and find ways to eat less. Eating less will come naturally as long as you follow the rules. They seem easy but you really need to concentrate when eating . It's a case of making meals a total foodie experience where you satisfy all the senses if you see what I mean .Smile

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 13:20

With regard to the drinking after eating....I started doing it as sometimes when I think I'm still hungry I am actually hungry. If I'm still wanting food after the drink then I go and decide what I'm hungry for. I can eat half my meal and be satisfied but still be hungry for something else . Icecream or fruit or chocolate or hot pudding and custard etc.

Jellybean456 · 31/10/2013 16:45

Thanks for the tips. Are you allowed to snack in between meals at all? If so, what do you have?
Think I will re read book again. I noticed by doing the trance 2nd time around that here were things that I missed. Maybe the same with the book.

Vivacia · 31/10/2013 16:57

Jelly if you are hungry, you eat. Reread the first post of this thread for a good summary.

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 20:04

Yay.!!!!! Jellybean* you got your name Grin
With regard to the hypno cd....don't try to listen to what he says. He tells you to concentrate on counting down from 300. That's so you keep your concious mind busy whilst he talks to your subconscious. Most of us don't remember what he says but we feel we drift off and then wake when he says " wide awake*.

With regard to snacking....if you are really hungry then eat. If not wait till you are. If you aim to eat like a slim person....they seem to only eat when they're hungry and stop when they're full but always eat what you are hungry for.Smile

Jellybean456 · 31/10/2013 20:24

Thanks Milly and Viv

I am not always hungry, but sometimes I might see a banana and fancy it. So does that mean I cannot have it, as I'm not hungry?

Is hungry for it and fancy it mean the same?

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 20:28

Jellybean if your not actually hungry, why eat. ???? That's why we tend to gain weight, cause we eat when our bodies are not hungry and asking for food. You know what genuine hunger is....it's that feeling that you just cannot ignore.

Vivacia · 31/10/2013 20:34

So does that mean I cannot have it, as I'm not hungry

Correct, that's my understanding too. You only eat when hungry and if you're not hungry you identify why you want to eat (boredom or comfort or habit etc). I find for me it's linked to my childhood, so I tell myself, "I may eat the banana now, but I'm choosing not to. I'm choosing to eat it later when I'll be hungry and really savour it".

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 20:34

This way of eating is how we would eat normally. Your body asks for food when it truly needs it. When you eat and you are not hungry then you are storing those calories. Jellybean re read the book Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Jellybean456 · 31/10/2013 20:36

I've really got to get my head around this, and years of just eating whenever. You're right, and its probably going to be my difficulty. Today for instance, I had the odd jelly baby sweet whilst at a kids Halloween party.

I suppose I stupidly thought that I could still have the odd sweet or fruit snack in between my main meals.

Vivacia · 31/10/2013 20:41

I think it would have been ok to eat the odd sweet, so long as you did so mindfully. Were you aware of it's texture and colour and shape as you picked it up? Did you notice what it smelt of? Did you chew it twenty times before swallowing, savouring the flavour, sweetness or sourness? I find after doing that with a Malteaser (even though I'm just pretending I'm eating 'cos I'm hungry) I put the rest of the pack back in the cupboard. There's something nice about taking five days to eat a pack of Malteasers!

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 20:48

The way I do it is I buy all the foods I love....lovely cheeses, salty Welsh butter, cream, Green And Blacks Chocolate, nuts, fruits, veg, meat, proper icecream, cakes if I want....anything. BUT I only eat when my body is truly hungry. There is a hunger scale. in the book to help you. Always eat slowly and conciously.

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 20:52

Vivacia that's exactly what I try and do too. I'll put a piece of chocolate in my mouth and feel it melt all over my tongue and mouth tasting its cocoa creamyness. Smile

MillyRules · 31/10/2013 20:53

And if you fall off the wagon you can just wait till your genuinely hungry again and restart.

Jellybean456 · 31/10/2013 21:24

Thanks all. Not hungry at all tonight. Also find recently that I don't really even have that hunger thing in the morning.

Going to see how long I can go tomorrow morning before eating. Have got Zumba and yoga in the morning, but will bring a banana with me in case.

Goodnight all
