Twinkle I am also Shock at the idea of a 4k run being the gentle start of an exercise regime! Go you!

Amanda you sound a bit more like yourself again & a bit more positive.

Wellies yes, Friday night. It may be the law that calories don't count on Friday nights, especially if you're dieting.

Hazel sorry you (and your DH) are so stressed.

Ok I have my list:

  1. to drink 2 litres of water every day. Not very successful with this. Can usually get to a litre though.
  2. exfoliate face twice weekly. Yes! have spent some of my Boots points on various things including some lovely new face stuff.
  3. Use my electric toothbrush (and make sure I charge it up) Yes!
  4. full facial regime morning & night. Yes, success so far!
  5. 50 sit-ups, 3 times weekly. Not totally successful with this...
  6. use eye cream before bed. some nights I have remembered.
  7. use my Wii Fit Cardio once weekly. Not so far.
  8. Walk at least 4k every day. Most days I have done this, but not today.
  9. 10 squats every time I go to the loo. I keep forgetting this.
10. Always take my migraine medicine, even if I have to get back out of bed (if I've forgotten). so far yes! 11. Aim for between 1200-1500 calories per day. Not quite managing this. 12. Body brush at least twice weekly. Yes, I've done this! 13. Get hair cut regularly. Not recently - but I'm going to book one next week. Not been able to until now as I get it done at the academy for £8 & they have been shut for the summer. I am so overdue for a cut! 14. Get rid of any clothes that don't fit, suit or are worn out. Yes! I regularly go through my clothes to check they fit etc & see what I have from pre-PG that might fit me. Everything goes to charity shop (or occasionally in the bin). 15. Go to bed at a decent time every night. Erm... I may not have been getting to bed as early as I should. Very naughty. 16. Regular hair removal. yes, am making more effort (have purchased better razor) 17. Keep eyebrows neat. Sadly I've not had time but intend to see to this tonight. 18. Keep nails neatly filed, unable paint ATM as DD teething. Am going to do this tonight. 19. Daily firming body moisturiser. Yes! have done this! 20. No wheat apart from spelt. No yeast, mushrooms, refined sugar, artificial sweetener or flavouring. So far this week, I have mostly stuck to this. I actually feel an awful lot better, so I do think it's helping & worth carrying on with.

Therealamandaclarke · 08/09/2013 10:55

lego great list. I simply cannot drink 2l water every day. It actually gives me a headache. I've modified my water challenge and now count all non- caffeinated, non - alcoholic, non- fizzy drinks towards 2l. I try to make sure about half of it is actual plain water.

hazel Thanks Brew. Sorry your DH is needing a slap feeling stressed and taking it out on everyone Grin it will pass. They can be so fucking annoying!

I avoided daytime snacking yesterday but did eat cereal and a giant biscuit Shock Blush with a massive Brew at bedtime. Yesterday afternoonI felt so faint I actually had to lie down. This is unheard of for me. The only time I ever sit still is when I' m feeding DD. actually had a nap while DH took DS out to buy a toy train. We had kebab for dinner (cba to cook) Blush.
Poor DD is up frequently at night so I am tired but I feel sooooooo much better than I did last week.

I miss fasting though. Might try one on Monday Hmm
I've also booked water aerobics Hmm, Pilates and yoga for next week.

twinklestar2 · 08/09/2013 16:17

Not the most healthiest of days yesterday but scales are still showing 3lbs off from Monday so feeling pleased.

SixPackWellies · 08/09/2013 18:18

Hi everyone.

Thanks Hazel and Thanks everyone for saying Friday night calories don't count!

I compounded the damage, but will not bleat on right now- tomorrow perhaps. Had a hard weekend with guests- they were family, and family are difficult! Feeling a bit low as we I got judged to buggery about certain aspect of my parenting. (Family member is very by the book- made a pointed comment when Dcs were plonked in front of CBeebies while I was preparing dinner, as tv is bad for the synapses of the brain. DC3 still has a dummy to go to sleep. Will stop boring on about it).

No dinner tonight. Too tired to cook. Fish fingers for the Dcs, toast and marmite for Dh and I.

Come Autumn! (Then no-one wants to visit us!)

I very seriously need to sort out my weight, and sort out my ability to say 'no' (a recurring theme).

Blush
Therealamandaclarke · 08/09/2013 18:51

And Envy at toast and marmite. Mmmmmm

SixPackWellies · 08/09/2013 19:07

was indeed yum. :)

I know I seem to spend an awful lot of time complaining about guests. Blush I have a low resilience right now, and was feeling hyper sensitive. I need a break, and to regain my (generally) good nature! I am usually quite tolerant, but seem not to be right now!

Am about to make scrambled eggs. I am starving. Aint nothing in the house. Our local Chinese does an amazing fried egg and prawn dish. I am craving that....... [must resist..... must resist....]

SixPackWellies · 09/09/2013 08:21

Morning all.

feeling brighter today.

Today:

B - pear and leftover toast and marmite
L- fruit
D- beef stroganof, small portion and rice

No cal drinks all day.

Hazelbrowneyes · 09/09/2013 09:54

Morning all,

Amanda Well done for booking those classes! I hope you enjoy Smile

twinkle 3lbs is excellent!

wellies I?d go nuts at having house guests as often as you do (((hugs)))

I ate too much over the weekend.

Saturday:
B ? eggy bread
L ? 2 not big but not small sausage rolls
D ? Sausage, mash and peas
S ? half a bag of revels, wine

Sunday:
B ? sausage and egg
L ? focaccia with dip
D ? lamb cutlets with mash and veg
S ? crisps and revels, wine

I did manage to paint my nails and clear out some stuff for the charity shop.

I?m really miserable at the moment and I can?t seem to shake it. Everything seems like such an effort and I get no joy out of anything at the moment. Ho hum.

Today:
B ? none
L ? celery and stilton soup (homemade and yum) with a roll (maybe 2 Blush)
D ? I think it?ll finally be chicken fajitas
S ? I have a breakfast bar and some low fat crisps

My major aim this week is to avoid the sandwich van completely.

From my list:

  1. Diet coke/coke ? limit to one can a week
  2. Full face cleansing regime every morning and every night
  3. Exercise daily, even if it?s just some squats, crunches or weights
10. Take vitamins daily 11. Moisturise daily 12. 15 minutes time out, 3 days a week (Eye pads on, soothing music, work on breathing as stress relief) 13. Less red meat, more fish and veg

I?m also going to add
Buy exfoliator
Plan a work schedule to stop everything from feeling overwhelming
Find time to sit down and talk to DH

SixPackWellies · 09/09/2013 10:01

(((hugs)))) back Hazel. You sound low. can you give yourself a good treat this week? Maybe go to the cinema or something else that you really enjoy?

The work schedule will probably help too, if it is all overwhelming. Thanks

(((Hazel)))

Hazelbrowneyes · 09/09/2013 11:17

This is going to sound daft, but I?ve almost forgotten what I enjoy. Does that make sense? Blush

I?ve got a lot going on this week and I think that?s getting to me as well.

I want to try to fit so much into such a small timescale and it?s overwhelming me. For example, I?ll get home around 5pm tonight. I then want to do the following:

Exercise (half an hour)
Shower, wash and dry hair (45 minutes)
Eat (20 minutes)
Clean out my chooks & neighbours chooks (10 mins)

But we?re meant to be meeting friends at 6pm. I just want to scream at the world to piss off and leave me alone. I know what will happen: exercise will get sidelined. Again.

I think I might get in, do the chooks straight away, then exercise, then eat and send DH down to meet friends whilst I shower and wash hair. That?d work.

Then Friday night we?re probably out for dinner with friends, Saturday we?re off to a wedding and Sunday we?re out for lunch with friends. It?s all a bit too much.

My desk is full of paperwork. I?m so tempted just to fling it all on the floor. I feel really panicky which is daft. I think I just need a break to be honest. I?ve had 12 days off this year ? and those 12 days include bank holidays. Otherwise it?s been pretty much non stop work, 6 days a week. I?ve had enough.

Thanks for the hugs xxxx

twinklestar2 · 09/09/2013 11:26

Here's more hugs hazel, sound like you need it :)

I lost 5lbs! Down from 10st 13 to 10st 8. I got down to 10st 6 in the summer so once I've cracked that weight I'll be happy!

Hazelbrowneyes · 09/09/2013 11:38

Thanks twinkle but OMG! Fabulous start to the week for you! Well done, that's an amazing loss! Grin

Therealamandaclarke · 09/09/2013 12:06

Well done twinkle
I though of you yesterday as I did a 3 mile walk with a bit of running. I just ran a few paces between trees IYSWIM. Like, walk to the next tree, run to the following one Grin
Now THAT is gently getting back to running Grin

hazel you are overworked atm. I think your boss will understand if you need a little break of a few hours?
Also good luck with talking to DH. If he is stressed it will be making things difficult. Thanks for you.

twinklestar2 · 09/09/2013 12:18

Well done on the running Amanda, that's how I started :) I wanted to run yesterday but OH said no as I have been fighting something off all week and its best to rest. Spoilsport!

Therealamandaclarke · 09/09/2013 12:57

Stressed!
Can't put DD down - teething and grizzling. All day so far.
House is a pigsty and I can't even tidy the kitchen

and breathe.

SixPackWellies · 09/09/2013 13:46

(((( amanda))))))

everyone is in need of a hug today! Can you pop DD into a sling so your hands are free?

Right..... I may have turned a corner ( a teeny tiny 44-point turn) on the guest thing. I had someone e-mail yesterday asking to stay next weekend as she has been hoping to get here all summer and is about to go on a big holiday for the next few months. I said that we were booked with guests. (We are not....) so if she wanted to come it would have to be Wed/Thurs only as it was the only day that suited us.

It is not being HUGELY assertive I know, but it is a little step. My friend does not work, so she could come then, I am sure. And I want my weekends back for us just family.

I need more practice at stating what suits me, or just saying 'no'. This is a little start!

OP posts:
Hazelbrowneyes · 09/09/2013 14:12

Amanda well done on the 3-mile walk/run! Your poor DD Sad Can DH tidy kitchen?

I do need a break from work. I?ll speak to DH and see if I can take a few hours off later this week. I just feel so guilty when I do as you can guarantee that the moment I walk out the door, the phone won?t stop ringing. Problem with such a small company I guess.

Wellies I think that?s a really, really good start. She has to fit in around you, not you around her Smile

twinklestar2 · 09/09/2013 15:23

Menus ladies?

Cereal
Sprinkles
Skimmed milk

Fish finger sandwich for lunch

Spal Bol with focaccia and salad instead of pasta

Apple

Had check up with dentist and all fine :)

Therealamandaclarke · 09/09/2013 19:26

wellis well done. Excellent start. Thank you.

hazel all calm now. Hopefully dd will settle (poor little mite) so I can go to water aerobics. What have I let myself in for???

twinkle quite right. Menus. Let's focus. I love yours of course. Fish fingers are fabulous. Envy

I am fasting today. No food at all. Feel hungry (a bit) but really good. It's such a great feeling. Tomorrow I plan to have bf of toast with DS but skip lunch and have chicken risotto for dinner. I often find this tricky though (skipping lunch) so I might plan for soup and fruit if I can't take it Grin. I need to do some grocery shopping. I will walk / run with pram for that. Or I could skip bf and have soup with bread for lunch hmmm,.

twinklestar2 · 10/09/2013 09:30

Hello all, quick menu post:

Muesli, sprinkles, SS milk
Maybe houmous salad wraps / pitta for lunch
Dinner is ribs with... What do you have with ribs?!
Fruit and yog

Therealamandaclarke · 10/09/2013 09:41

Rice? twinkle salad?

wellis do you live in the Bahamas? Grin everyone loves it at yours.
Well done being assertive. Slowly, slowly catchy monkey.

Good grief! I went to an aqua class last night. It turned out to be held in the deep end. So 45 mins of treading water whilst simultaneously doing aerobics. I had to be given a float Grin couldn't work out how everyone else was staying afloat. Went under a few times. Grin
Ravenous this morning.
Bf: satsuma, 2 toast, 1 biscuit Blush
L: probably will have soup and a roll.
D: risotto (I'll add some leaves)

SixPackWellies · 10/09/2013 10:18

Good morning! Not the Bahamas, Amanda but we are lucky to live somewhere quite pretty and touristy with lots of activities around- hiking, kayaking, cycling, horse-riding etc, all of which DH's friends are keen on. Hence the summer visitor schedule. I know we are lucky though.

The aqua aerobics sounds fun, and hard work!!!!

Love ribs, twinkle. I would be tempted for a vegetable-laden egg fried rice with that. Mmmm......

me today -

B- nothing
L- half a salad sandwich and a cup of soup
D- I am going out with some friends! Very excited. Chinese restaurant so will go heavy on the veg. I plan to alternate wine with water. None of us can have a heavy or late night as we all have young Dcs.

Have good days!

OP posts:
Hazelbrowneyes · 10/09/2013 10:57

Morning

Aqua sounds fun Amanda will you go again?

twinkle I’d go for ribs with salad.

Yesterday:
B – none
L – celery and stilton soup with a roll
D – chicken fajitas
S – low fat crisps and breakfast bar.

E – oh yes, you’re reading right. I actually did some exercise! Shock Due to having no bloody time I only did 10 mins on X-trainer, 50 crunches and 20 squats but it’s a start!

I obviously ruined all my hard work with 2 x 200ml prosecco and ¼ of a bottle of wine. Doh.

So hungry this morning so I’ve already had low fat crisps Blush Lunch is soup and a roll again. No idea what dinner will be yet.

So…STRESS. DH and I decided we’d go out with friends for dinner Friday night. DH totally forgot this and instead invited them to ours. Weep. So we now have to do a super-duper dinner party (as they did a super-duper dinner party)

At theirs we had homemade tuna cakes with a pea puree to start followed by chicken (which may or may not have been stuffed with something) with a tomato salsa and baby roast potatoes. Dessert may have been a chocolate tart or it may have been a chocolate mousse or it may not have been chocolate at all (was absolutely hammered by this point Grin) and then they served the most amazing cheeseboard. I know cheese should come before dessert but we all love cheese so much, we had to just have it sat there to pick at for a good couple of hours! Copious amounts of alcohol were consumed.

So. OMG. I love hosting dinner parties but it’s actually been a while since I’ve done one. This is obviously consuming my thoughts so much I can’t actually work.

We were up quite late last night frantically looking through recipe books (because of course, this week we’re so effing busy we’re barely at home) and I think we’ve decided on:

Prosecco with amaretto or hibiscus flowers as an aperitif. I’d do canapés here but DH isn’t sure. What’s the consensus?

Butternut squash, caramelised walnut and Roquefort salad to start served with rose wine.

Steak & Guinness pie with garlic roast potatoes, green beans and pretty little carrots for the main served with a hearty red wine.

Dessert will be either salted caramel pots or blackberries in Muscat jelly. Dessert wine served if we have caramel pots, not if we have blackberries. (although I’m tempted to do a dessert that requires a fork as I have a lovely set of pastry forks Grin)

Cheese – 3 or 4 cheeses. 1 gooey, 1 blue, 2 hard with a decent selection of biscuits, celery and grapes. Served with port (out of cute port sipper glasses)

Fresh coffee served with homemade petit fours.

The only thing I’m really not sure about is the pie – it’s not really refined is it? It is delicious though. Not sure what else we can do? What do you think? Anything that you’d love at a dinner party?

Oh! I tried on the dress I want to wear to my friends wedding…it fits! Smile
