Well done piglet, I really like the last strength circuit in L3. Think the jumping lunges did for my knees so giving them a rest for a while!

I've done a few circuits from NMTZ in the last couple of days and am VERY pleased that I have done all the press-ups in the proper "on the toes" position rather than off the knees! They may be slow (and agonising) but it's a great sign that I am getting stronger. Yay!

Also 6w6p L2 again yesterday - phew, had to pause the dvd at one point to get my breath. Really enjoyed it.

Healing vibes to all the injured bods out there.

eslteacher · 21/05/2013 22:54

Ponks, it's really encouraging to hear that you can do proper sit ups, I'm still at the 'on knees' position and can't imagine ever being able to do a proper one! I seem to have crap upper body strength.

I did Yoga Meltdown Level 2 for the first time today. It was harder than L1 mostly because of massive balance issues, there were a few dynamic poses where I just kept falling over, which made it hard to properly get into the dynamic/cardio aspect. Also because a lot of the moves were cross body twisty asymetric things it was harder to tell if I was doing them right and stretching the right bit of the body. So I don't think I got as good a workout as with L1 actually, but I'll stick with it and hopefully get better.

Has anyone else done JM's Yoga Meltdown workouts? I have a couple of questions for anyone who has!

gingercat12 · 22/05/2013 12:18

Thanks for all the good wishes. I still have bad coughs at night, so mainly exercise in the evenings.

I have tried Bob's Ripped Core. It is too long for a morning session, so when I still had 25 minutes left, I was getting a bit anxious. But it gives such a lovely nice post-exercise glow, although my obliques never hurt as much as the next day.

gingercat12 · 22/05/2013 12:20

riverboat I am also very interested in the Yoga Meltdown.

Ponks I am envious. Did try L2 6W6P this morning, but after the 3 coughing fit (still in the warm-up) I did not think there was any point. Maybe in the evening. It is such a superb workout, isn't it?

Happypiglet · 22/05/2013 15:07

Ponks you inspired me to do all the walking planks on my toes today- so thanks for that!
L3 again- was interrupted mid workout by postman- sure he wasn't really hoping for a sweaty red faced woman to answer the door!
Gingercat- cough still sounds bad- there are a lot of nasty viruses still around..
Riverboat- never done Yoga Meltdown I am VERY inflexible and so can't even begin to contemplate hard Yoga! Hope you work out the moves tho. Sure it will get easier.

Ponks · 22/05/2013 22:59

riverboat and piglet it has taken a few months to be able to do full press ups but I got there in the end! Not saying I'll be able to do them every time though. Glad to be an inspiration! I have been inspired by so many people on here too.

gingercat your cough is dragging on, poor you. Not surprised you couldn't get through 6w6p, you need a lot of puff for that. I feel it has done me a lot of good in just two workouts so it is one I will definitely carry on with.

piglet I have had "postman interruptus" recently as well - luckily when I had only just started the warmup so I wasn't too tomato-like.

Seeing as I am now taking this exercise biz seriously I have treated myself to some new leggings and vest tops (Primark - £2 each - how fab is that!), which I would never have contemplated at the beginning of the year. No more baggy tshirts for me Smile.

gingercat12 · 23/05/2013 12:59

6W6P L2 done yesterday evening. [pretending to be flexing my biceps and growling] This morning I did not even try. I did not want to wake the whole house up again. Maybe in the evening.

Also Bob's Super Strength work-out dvd arrived. It prompted DS to re-organise my exercise dvds. He was very cute. He was a bit shocked I had a boy dvd this time. Anyway, respect to all of you who do this. 66 minutes?! Who has that kind of time?! - says Mrs Wuss. Next week Mom will look after DS for a few days, so I shall try [scared].

Happypiglet · 23/05/2013 13:13

Wohoo Ponks new clothes are always an inspiration!
L3 again today- feeling it now after four days on the trot. Day off packing tomorrow and then a week camping in frozen Norfolk.
See you all in a week or so- happy Bank holiday weekend all....

threestepsforward · 24/05/2013 12:42

Waaaaaa, it's all changed

I lost you all for a bit yesterday put Helen put me straight! (I don't use 'threads I'm on' or anything usually).

I hope they move us from weight loss chat actually, cos this thread isn't strictly about weight loss

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry not to name check everyone as I've missed so much but have speed read back and you are all doing fab!!!

Hope all those with injuries and lurgies are feeling a bit better. Notyummy if you are reading, how are you doing??

Had my back appointment yesterday and attempted L3 Shred in the evening but it really throbs today. Bought an ice pack to use as recommended so I'm going to have to rest it I think. I'm hoping if I do that I may be up for something on Monday...

Have a fantastic bank holiday everyone...

Have a great half-term and bank holiday weekend!

Hope you are feeling better threesteps.

My cough and now cold is not very pleasant. I was in bad by 8 last night. However I managed to get through Bob's Super Strength, all 66 minutes of it. Well, I found it very hard, but his Ripped Core is a lot harder. It probably means, I need to use heavier weights and my upper body is stronger than my core. No surprises there.

Bobbing ladies! Are you supposed to combine Super Strength with cardio something, as there is very little cardio in it? (And cardio is the bane of my life.)

notyummy · 24/05/2013 22:23

Hi all. Just found this thread again and good to see you are all hard at it. Had my op last Friday and was in hospital for a couple of days. Recovery is slightly slower than I hoped- I didn't think I'd be Shredding by this point, but perhaps at least able to have a shower or bath and not in so much pain!! Anyway, will keep up the physo exercises and very slow/gentle walks and hope that in a few weeks I may be able to rejoin you all.

gingercat12 · 25/05/2013 18:18

notyummy We were all missing you and hope you will get better as soon as possible. [flower]

Wow, was that 2 consecutive bank holidays with sunshine Shock

Hope everyone has had a good one

Notyummy!! So good to hear from you and to hear that it's all gone well. Take it easy and build yourself back up slowly. I can imagine you're itching to get back into it all, not long now!

Gingercat poor you, whatever lurgy it is seems to have dragged on. Hope you are back on top form soon. I've never done any bobbing so can't help you there sadly...

I'm still resting - back is grumbling from hoovering and from digging a hole and burying an unfortunate wood pigeon who I found decapitated, presumably a neighbourhood cat!

So I'll keep on with the ice pack. I can't exercise tomorrow so it will be Wednesday at the earliest I can get back to it. Hope I'll be able to by then...

Will catch up later in the week - have a great weekend ahead everyone :)

(I don't like this new spot - it feels a bit like we've been put in a dusty cupboard somewhere...although I know it feels like we should now feel more prominent now we've been moved up the board!)

Hi all. notyummy hope the recovery is continuing to go ok, and 3steps how's the back doing today? Did u manage to work out?

I rarely use the topics sections on here; usually just threads I'm on and Active threads, so haven't really noticed the topics change-around!

Have done ES&S L2 for the first time today- found it a big step up from L1 which I wasn't really expecting! Some bits I just couldn't do: the high knees to up-downs I just couldn't keep up on; and the hip heists - wtf! Confused. I got myself all tangled up; got round one way but couldn't work out how to get back again! Also the bridge things made me really dizzy. Oh well something to work on!

Hope you're all doing ok.

eslteacher · 29/05/2013 18:47

Hope you are on the way to recovery now threesteps

I am still plugging away at Shred Level 1 - not doing it on consecutive days, as I like to mix thing up a bit and some days go running, or do the Yoga Meltdown workout. Once I've done it 10 times I'll move on to L2.

I am loving Jillian's workouts the more I do them. My favourite Jillian quote so far: (can't remember if it's from from Shred or Yoga Meltdown) is when in the middle of some insanely difficult move she pipes up 'If you think you're gonna die...' -(and I expect her to advise taking a rest for a moment) '...-just follow Maddie!' (ie the girl doing the slightly less insanely difficult move) AS IF WE'RE NOT ALREADY FOLLOWING MADDIE!

I also love how at the end of Yoga Meltdown she's all talking to the camera saying 'Guys...seriously, I can't even...that was just amazing. Wow. You were amazing." SO cheesy and American but I kind of love it!

Jacksterbear · 29/05/2013 22:14

Ahhh riverboat I do love a good Jillian quote! Smile and I like her occasional cheesiness too. Actually she is a lot less cheesy than some -Turbojam lady is relentlessly smiley which is nice if you're in the right mood for that but rilly quite annoying if not!

Just thought of another impossible move from ES&S L2: that one where you straighten out your arms from ab hold... Erm, seriously? Couldn't do it even on my knees!

gingercat12 · 30/05/2013 13:03

threesteps Hope you are feeling better.

riverboat My current favourite is "A lot of ladies come up to me and say Jillian you changed my life. I didn' t change your life, you changed your life! You did the hard work! You hit your goals!"

jackster That sounds just wrong.

I have dpne Bob's Pure strength with heavier weights, and you may have heard my whimpers... For - what I call - stress positions, i.e. hold your arms put with weights like forever, I had to habe lower weights.

threestepsforward · 30/05/2013 13:21

Afternoon Jackster, Riverboat and Gingercat...and all other JMers out there in the ether!!

Thanks for asking after me :) I'm still on the injury bench but have back-related exercises to do and I'm hoping I can be back into the swing of things by the weekend. It's not feeling too bad at all now but I really don't want to rush in as it still doesn't feel quite right. Such a bore!

Riverboat Yoga meltdown sounds great! I'm very tempted...

Jackster having moves you hate is great, means it's a challenge lol! I don't mind that ab hold one so much but the semi-press up combined with plank jacks floor me (literally), as do the hip heists - I frequently tie my legs in knots!

Gingercat, bob sounds HARD!!!

My fave quote goes along the lines of: "I wanna make your booty go BLLLLAAAAT....in a good way, not in a bad way" Grin

Will see you all at the weekend hopefully :)

Whoops!

I remember those stress positions! DH was whimpering on Saturday.... He is trying to do them all with 5kg, but can't quite make it. I used to just about manage them all with 3 kg but was pulling v funny faces by the end....

Loving the JM quotes!

Ponks · 30/05/2013 21:44

Hi guys

just checking in after a 6w6p L2 session - so glad to get to the end, it really gets me puffed - but hey, that means I have something to aim for! In fact I'm just getting my breath back before doing the stretches. Really didn't want to work out tonight - combination of PMT & working long hours at the mo - but as ever I'm so glad I did.

notyummy wishing you all the best for your recovery & sending you healing vibes (& you too threesteps)

jackster I find those ab hold lifts really hard too. I think it helps if you think about pulling your belly button in loads and that sort of lifts you up. I had to practise the hip heists a lot but they feel good when you get it right - though I never seem to end up facing the right way at the end Smile.

Jacksterbear · 31/05/2013 17:17

Ponks well done on getting through L2 6W6P (it's my favourite, I think); I'm a late-night exerciser too - often the only time I can fit it in!

Thanks all for the feedback and tips on L2 ES&S; I still can't get over what a big leap up it was from L1! Have been trying the ab-hold-straighten-arms thing and still cannot get it - can't lift both arms at the same time, can only seem to do it if I lift one then the other. Also, I need to practise hip heists in slo-mo I think!

3steps hang in there! It must be so frustrating. Flowers

L1 Killer done today, really enjoyed it.

threestepsforward · 02/06/2013 22:38

How's the recovery process Notyummy?

Hello Jackster and Ponks!

Ponks well done with L2 6W6P - I think that's universally acclaimed as the hardest of all Jillian Grin

I've done two L1s of extreme S&S, yesterday and today, and so far so good ... !

I still hate the fact it all feels a bit like Russian Roulette at the mo though - but so far the old back is holding up.

And I have to say again, I LOVE Extreme S&S! Either level just seems to be a feel-good thing. My plan is to step up to L2 during the week, and then hopefully be in a position to do the double next weekend...

On a pedantic note ,I'm convinced we're not busier because of this change on the site. Where people might have looked at diet and exercise generally and found us, now they won't find us as we're in 'weight loss chat' which is the last topic now under 'slim bla bla'.

On an even more depressing note than the pedantic note: I'm definitely going through a period of "why am I bothering" :( (I'm 40, seminewly single and am wondering, erm, no idea, but wondering lol - finding it hard to keep motivation I guess )

Harrumph.

As you were, ignore me!
