Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

Half a lb this week off! I want a week where a good chunk comes off! Any ideas! Have another 12lb to lose and at this rate it's going to take months!

laughalot · 18/02/2013 19:59

androbbob · 18/02/2013 20:30

Well done loosing ladies - some good work going on!

Now I need a swift kick up the derriere! Maintained this week so total loss of 12lbs. I need to get some more weight off by end May else I will scare the people at Center Parcs in my cossie!!

Come on lovely ladies give me some words of wisdom for the class tortoise. I am going to write everything down this week and see where that gets me.

Feeling a bit crap as well this week - tired and exhausted and achey but that is not an excuse.

iklboo · 18/02/2013 21:02

1.5lb loss this week. Agonisingly close to the first stone.

beanandspud · 18/02/2013 21:52

Well done losers! Grin Keep going everyone!

Androbbob I feel a bit the same, I can feel myself gradually lapsing more and more and I am writing everything down this week in the hope of getting back on track. Prepare for some not very interesting lists of food on here.

B - Fruit and a yogurt
L - Big salad with some cold potatoes, 25g of grated cheese (HeA) and a little low-fat mayo
Snacks - Two Alpen Light bars (HeB) and more fruit. Options hot chocolate (2 syns)
D - Fish and prawn 'stew' that DH made last night with potatoes which was pretty yummy.

It is a relief though to be at home for half term - far easier to plan meals in advance and know what I'm eating. Does anyone else find it really hard to be sociable on SW? I know all the magazines have great advice "...just have two vodkas with diet tonic and then move onto sl tonic... eat before you go out so you're not hungry... just ask the restaurant for XYZ..." but it's so hard when what I really want is a bottle of wine and a ginormous pizza!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/02/2013 23:45

I tend to eat chicken salmon and pasta or rice when out

I wish I could lose more in lbs. def seem to lose inches as jeans are baggy on me and people keep saying have you lost weight

But half a stone isn't much and tbh pathetic in 6 weeks :(

Kwym androb

Seem to live off spag Bol - lasagne - salmon and rice - prawn linguini and sweet pot curry

Must look at recipes in mag and find something new to inspire me

Ikiboo well done on loss

BadRoly · 19/02/2013 09:26

Beans - that is my problem I think, I haven't broken all the old habits so default into "ahfuckit" mode Confused

WI yesterday as can't make tomorrow - 1.5 ON. And it's not going to be any better next week. I was only 0.5 off reaching 1.5stone total loss as well. VeryBadRoly Grin

iklboo · 19/02/2013 10:25

Thank you. Had nice tea on Saturday. Chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella from healthy option & basil. Wrapped in Parma ham (1/2 a syn per slice) and topped with Doritos salsa (1/2 syn a tablespoon). Baked for 30-35 minutes & served with jacket potato & sugar snap peas. Really tasty for less than 2 syns.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/02/2013 11:11

Bad roly indeed Wink

At a farm today and KNOW there won't be any salads etc

So have made my own concoction with what work had in fridge

Pasta mixed with baby corn - grated carrot - baby corn and then 3 baby bels light chopped

And banana and grapes

Now I have to sneak it in as no food allowed that isn't brought here

Bad blondes - delib flaunting the rules !!!

KissMyGrits · 19/02/2013 12:30

androb which Center Parcs? We're off to Whinfell in May half term, need to be at least a stone (and a half) slimmer by then. Fingers crossed!
I feel it'll not be a big loss for me this week, don't know why, I'm well within my syns but I've been felling a bit ill and not had much superfree fruit and veg. We'll see tomorrow.

LollipopViolet · 19/02/2013 13:06

Hi everyone. I'm thinking of starting SW - there's a group within walking distance, I can afford it, and I need to lose about 5 stone, I think.

I want to go to the morning group tomorrow (will have to do evenings as of the following week as I'm on a Prince's Trust programme and it's an all day every day thing) but I'm scared! Blush I've never done a slimming group before and I'm not sure what to expect.

Also, I still live at home, with 4 other family members, so are some meals easy to do single portions of, or will I need to convince them all to join me?

beanandspud · 19/02/2013 14:05

Hello Lollypop and welcome!

I can't give you any advice on going to a group as I follow the plan using the books that I bought when I signed up online and then happily ignored for about 12 months Blush

However, I find the meals work really well at home and unlike some other 'diets' DH is happily eating what I eat, and it's probably doing him a lot of good.

Our weekly menu is generally SW versions of pasta & sauce, chilli, lots of curries, fish pie, paella, vegetable bakes etc. For me it's been more about getting back into the habit of cooking from scratch, I actually enjoy cooking and find that most SW recipes are pretty good and even though I don't eat meat I am finding plenty of variety - otherwise I know that the boredom will scupper my efforts by week 3.

iklboo · 19/02/2013 14:05

Lollipop - ours only announce your weight loss per week, not your actual weight. If you've gained one week our leader reads out your cumulative weight loss. Then we chat about our week, swap tips & recipes etc. men as well as women go to ours. It's v friendly.

Me23 · 19/02/2013 15:44

Hi all blondes I think you are right re the inches as I saw a work colleague this week who I haven't seen since I started and she said I'm looking a lot slimmer and she didn't even know I was dieting so that was a boost! And I've only lost 9lbs since jan. I don't feel like I've lost this week being super busy doing 12 hour shifts. I haven't over syned but if I have 15 syns a day I don't lose more than 1lb usually.

LollipopViolet · 19/02/2013 16:16

Well, just proved to myself I can eat well when I want to :)

Was feeling hungry and wanted something sweet - there are still home made jam tarts in the kitchen. Had a lovely, juicy orange instead. It worked, I no longer want something sweet :)

My problem is eating out, I always go for the wrong foods.

I will go to my local group tomorrow ignoring the moaning from my mother who dislikes groups like this and see what this plan is all about, then get on it! Got a wedding to go to in just over a month - hoping to get a decent amount off by then, half a stone would be great :)

ThatBintAgain · 19/02/2013 17:06

Hi everyone. SW is so odd. Last weigh in I had a good week until I got ill and didn't eat for 3 days and put on half a pound. Then I thought sod it and had a week of eating whatever I wanted (a LOT of chocolate) and my weight stayed the same. It makes no sense to me whatsoever. Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/02/2013 17:15

Welcome lollipop - yes family's can eat things like casseroles - prawn linguini / lasagne (tho dont use quark - it's rank - use syns for cheese sauce) or make and then freeze a few portions

Bint / I think if ill then your body thinks its starving as not eating and keeps hold of fat so you dont lose weight

Me / inches are better then scales as you can tone up but weigh more but clothes fit better iyswim

laughalot · 19/02/2013 17:41

Blondes if you are a bit bored of dinners this is a mini list of what we have Smile.

Steak/slimming world chips/salad
Chicken breast with phili light leeks/bacon/mushrooms - yum
Stew
Cheesy tuna pasta bake
Fry up - slimming world style
Cottage pie
Homemade burgers/chips with the burgers when you roll up the mince add a cheese square to the middle yum yum.

Hope it helps a bit Grin.

laughalot · 19/02/2013 17:44

Welcome lollipop if you do not fancy a group I got my book off ebay and I weigh in once a week at boots with my work clothes on so I am wearing the same thing each week and it costs me 50p. You do not have the support of a group but with the money I save I go to zumba once a week and swimming. I will be honest and say I weighed 14st 5lb on the 7th Jan and I now weigh 13st 3lb so not bad going to say im doing it myself. I have a long way to go but im determined. The support on here is great and I pick up alot of meal ideas.

laughalot · 19/02/2013 17:49

Oh and blondes I meant cheese triangle !!!!!!

Thatbintagain maybe it was because you did not eat when you were ill they say you shouldnt starve yourself. It may have been a shock to your system ???? Strange diet Grin

LollipopViolet · 19/02/2013 18:00

See, I've found that trying things on my own doesn't work - I think I need some RL support :)

I like cooking for my family, don't get to do it often enough but once I get going with SW I'll probably press the issue a bit more! Grin

laughalot · 19/02/2013 18:16

Go for it then lollipop join the class cook for your family and happy days you are all losing weight Grin.
